I like to come here for my Latin American products and produce. Ready To-Go Carnitas are my favorite! The service is usually good but the bakery is a little harder to track down. They usually have the self service items out but if you want a cake, you'll have to wait a little. Other than that, the store is usually stocked.

I know this particular northgate isn't the biggest or has the most options but it's got easy parking and I can get tamales, Aguachile, ceviche, fresh guacamole, and the hot wings are great too!

1st time trying the carnitas in green salsa. I love carnitas when making any Mexican food decision! Super tender, flavorful salsa broth! 9/10. I would definitely come back for more.

Love that (Northgate Market) is close to my home. The best store for authentic Mexican foods prepared or stuff to prepare at home. The bakery is totally awesome has the best Tres Leches Cake that's truly my guilty pleasure. The service is always amazing cashier are always so nice and friendly. Will definitely recommend and return soon.....

Closest Northgate Mexican market to our home, not within walking distance. It's on the smaller side compared to other Northgates that we have been to, but it has all the necessities. They have the butcher counter where you take a number and wait in line, but they also have butchered meat in packages for quick gets. We usually stop by the two super markets closer, but neither one of them sell the Sonora style flour tortillas that I really like...Northgate does, so we stopped by during errands to pick up a package for $3.99. There were plenty of cash register lines and they had prepared foods on a hot buffet self-serve cart...the food didn't really look too appetizing.

Taquiza taco set with fixings for less than $20... good deal!

My go-to spots for marinated taco meat is usually Superior or Northgate market. I did not have a hankering for tacos, but my son and his fishing buddy still gotta eat. What better meal than tacos? THREE-PACK TAQUIZA TACO MEAT. You know what I'm talking about... pre-packaged in-house marinated set of beef, pork, and chicken. Enough to feed at least 8-12 people. Truth: I don't own a taquiza griddle, but that's next on my things to get this summer. I cooked this stovetop on a cast iron skillet. One type of meat at a time, and plated it separately on a long platter. PRODUCE was fresh. Seriously fresh. You know how in the Kroger chain, they have their "A" list stores like Ralph's, then they have their less quality stuff sold at "B" list stores, like Food4Less? Well, this bodega had limes that were "A" grade and will keep longer. They were young and not aged or bruised. The skin was shiny with tight pores, meaning they were juicy and ripe. Picked up a couple of these babies and Roma tomatoes. Already had onion, cilantro, and avocado at home. YELLOW CORN TORTILLAS were still warm in the bag. Tortilleria on site! Debated on flour or corn and picked the bag with the steaming warm tortillas... decided based on the amount of condensation on the packaging. COVID PRECAUTIONS in full effect here. Actually didn't realize the lady who walked in front of me entered the establishment without a facemask (still yellow tier at the time of my visit), and was quickly asked to put on a mask by an employee. PARKING was ample. Lots of parking diagonally marked in an L-shaped parking lot. This is def your one-stop taco spot for a quick pick-up meal, if you like authentic food and do not mind cooking at home.

Marinated short ribs? Lol the attendant gave me all the worst pieces. This is what was left after cutting off all the FAT! Terrible
Ray H.

Ugh, i won't be coming here anymore! I mean look at the crappy meat. There was soo much fat i had to cut em off before cooking and look how much meat on the bone? Lol ridiculous. I remember when i looked at the display i saw ALOT of good cuts in the front so he must of gave me all the crappy pieces. He was a young guy working the meat dept. They are not serving any display items during covid but that's understandable. Guess i will have to find another market. Oh and the 10-15 minute waits don't help. I will stick to my mini mart by my house.

This is my local Northgate market, the only negative thing I would say about this location is that they don't have as many products/items as the Northgate on Cherry and Del Amo. Other than that it's great.

Eddie C.

Great market with an emphasis on Latin American foods and products. Stopped here the other night to pick up dinner and some groceries. Their rotisserie chicken rivals that of Costco's and it's a steal for about $5. I also grabbed some buffalo wings, pupusas, blue corn tortillas and two types of salsa. Every thing was freshly made and hot, so when I got home it was dinner time! They also have a great meat counter and very fresh veggies. One item that I never find at Ralphs or Vons is fresh garbanzo beans. If you've only had the canned ones, you 're in for a treat with the fresh ones! Next time? Gotta go back for some beef tendons.

When you first enter, the most amazing smell of freshly baked goods hit your nose and you have to remind yourself that you're not in heaven but in a Mexican grocery store. The smell is simply divine. I really love shopping at this grocery store. The prices are fairly low especially the produce. They have a wide selection of fruits and vegetables which are really good quality. Often times I'll find fruits and vegetables from my native country (Jamaica) here as well which is always a great treat. It would help to speak some Spanish since all the employees are Spanish speaking and only a few of them speak English. The few times I've had questions, I was always able to find a English speaking staff who was always super helpful. Last Christmas after being unable to get my Tamales from my old neighbor whose Mexican grandma makes the absolutely best Tamales, I ordered a few from here and they were delicious. If I'm not able to contact my old neighbor again, I'll probably continue ordering from here.

This time (yesterday), however, was not nearly the same experience. First of all, I realized we couldn't book a table for 8 people, so me and my friends book 2 tables for 8.30PM. I called asking if it's possible to put our tables together close or side by side, they said they will try their best. We all showed up at 8.30 and waited until around 9-9.15 because they only had 1 table ready. Ok. Come the time the other table opened and it's not even that close to each other. But it's okay, I respect the limitations on this part. No one came to us to take our order or even give us water until way later, and we got our drinks at 9.45. Another critique is that my friend called and ask how much corkage fee and they said $25. It turned out to be $40. Another disappointment, but it's ok. Not much can be done bout that part. Next thing is the food. We enjoyed the fried green beans. Crudo was really really salty, and it's not only 1 person thought that. We wondered if the kitchen mistakenly salted the fish twice. We enjoyed the peach salad. We ordered a few different pasta and the tagliatelle in particular was disappointing. It really lacked flavor that we had to mix the other pasta dish sauce to it. The pork plate was good, a bit small but we enjoyed it. Now the mussles and frites were disappointing too. The sauce just didn't do it for me (other friends agreed). I always talked really highly about Nonna Mercato (I also enjoyed the brunch so much) and always told people that this is one of my most favorite restaurants in Long Beach, but this one really missed the mark for me and my friends. I don't know if this would make us want to go to Summer Nights again next time. For $130 per person (after tax, tip, and corkage fees), I definitely hoped for a much better experience.

Our favorite is the chocolate concha. It is crisp, fresh, and has the slightest sourdough flavor. I tried the dona one time and while it was great. It was just too much for me. Literally, we had to bring it home. I would suggest splitting this because of its size and it has a lot of almond and jam so it's hefty. I also tried their jamon which was sooooo good. I would get this again. For drinks we have tried their Atole, Dulce de Leche and Horchata with Cold Brew. My new favorite is the Horchata. It is so well complimented by the cold brew and it's so smooth and not too sweet. My husband also liked the taste he tried but he went with my now second favorite the Dulce de Leche. What I love about this place is that everything is balanced. Its not too much of anything just perfect. The concha isn't too sweet. It's balanced by the sourdough which is complex. The coffees which anywhere else would be a sugar bomb are just right. The sugar highlights the brilliance of whatever it is paired with whether that is bread or coffee.

Even though I'm not a Filipino, the flavor of their goodies are very similar to where I'm from. I think I might have tried (almost) all stuff they have in store. Some of my favorites are bibingkas (never go wrong with this), any weekend special donuts (ube or cream "cheese" filled donuts), ube cheez pandesal and cakes. I also like their pop tarts but they usually get sold out pretty fast. Their staff are always nice and personable. Check their instagram for any special items or any other updates (such as if they're sold out fast, or if there's any discount or if there's a long line). I'd suggest to eat their bread items on the day of. The other non-bread stuff are still good even after a few days. I still gave it a chance. It was okay, but it didn't have enough cinnamon for me. It reminded me of a Little Debbie honey bun warmed up with heavy cream. I was looking for a thick, gooey, soft center Cinnabon moment, and it just wasn't that. I took two or three bites and passed on it. We also got the marble coffee cake, the cashier recommended it, and he did his big one because it was excellent. We got cinnamon crisps too, and those were super good kind of churro like but crispier, almost like a tortilla chip but not really. Delicious though. We grabbed snickerdoodle cookies, but they weren't giving snickerdoodle, more like sugar cookies. Good, just not snickerdoodle. There were so many dessert options that it took us about 15 minutes to decide. I probably should've gotten the lemon cake or carrot cake instead of the Cinnabon. If I go back, I'm definitely trying a cake. But if you have a sweet tooth, they have tons of options and indoor seating, which is nice.

IF YOU ARE COMING HERE FOR THE CINNAMON ROLLS, DONT!…read more I've been on a hunt for the best cinnamon rolls in LA and this place kept popping up as one of the best. I'm going to explain in detail why this just isn't true. First, it's cash only. So if you decide to ignore my review and come, make sure you have cash. I got the cinnamon which was very huge. But I asked for the frosting on the side as I heard the frosting was insanely sweet and ruins the cinnamon roll. Honestly the cinnamon roll by itself was a lot better than with the frosting. The cinnamon roll was soft and had good flavor but just a bit overwhelming. I felt over it after 1 bite. So I added some of the frosting and WOOOOOOW it doesn't have flavor. Just pure sugar only. Yes cinnamon rolls are a dessert and sweet but this was like I drank pure sugar water. I tossed that frosting. No way people actually eat that. Do yourself a favor and go to cinnaholic down the street for a MUCH BETTER cinnamon roll Parking is metered and hard to find

You have the option to buy them frozen to save for later, but they honestly taste best when you eat them fresh right at the bakery. A quick tip if you order online: Make sure to go straight to the front and let one of the many employees know you are there for a pickup. They only call out names for in-person orders, so you'll be waiting a while if you don't speak up! I also tried their new seasonal sandwich--the pulled pork melt and the very popular nonseasonal sandwich crispy chicken sandwich. Both were very filling and packed with flavor. Just make sure to eat these fresh, as they will likely get soggy if you try to save them for later. They have a great selection of desserts and coffee drinks that I didn't have room for this time, but I'll definitely be saving those for my next trip to Long Beach. Portions are big and it's filled with your choice of filling, very delicious, highly recommend 9/10 2. Empanadas - Usually I love empanadas but these were a bit disappointing on my end. They were softer than empanadas that I usually have, although delicious still but definitely not my favorite from the bakery. 6.5/10 3. Breakfast Burrito - Talk about portions, this breakfast burrito is loaded with ingredients, eggs among many other ingredients, super flavorful and savory. It does have a bit of a kick to it which adds to the taste, pretty good! 8.5/10 Overall, a solid brunch spot, although a bit expensive, it's still worth to check them out. Pretty decent tasting potato balls, breakfast burrito is big in portion and delicious as well, along with their empanadas which can be a hit or miss depending on the style of empanadas you like. Definitely a good spot for a snack even if you're in the area.
