I love this place. When I worked in DTLB this was my goto…read more My favourite is the 3 salad combo plate, literally every salad I have had is fresh and delicious. My usual 3 salaf plate is the mixed greens, caprese, and one of the pasta salads. It comes with a side of garlic bread (toasted french roll brushed with olive oil and rubber with a garlic clove). Friends and fam are mixed on the garlic bread but everyone I have ever taken here loved their salad. The heart attack Jack sandwich is not for the faint of heart, it's big and a lot of food. Save room for the chocolate cake, which you can easily split between two people. Their hot dishes are ok but seriously go for the salads or cold sandwiches.

On previous visits, I've sometimes waited closer to 15-20 minutes, so this was a very welcome surprise. I ordered the pastrami sandwich on a roll, and they certainly didn't skimp on the meat. It was generously piled high--exactly how I think a good pastrami sandwich should be served, with so much meat it practically falls out with every bite. The pastrami was flavorful, and the portion was impressive. My husband ordered the beef dip and gave it equally high marks. His sandwich was also generously filled, and he said the beef was delicious. These are seriously substantial sandwiches. We could only manage half of each before the concert, which turned out to be a bonus--the other halves became a very satisfying late-night treat. Modica's delivered where it matters: generous portions, satisfying sandwiches, good flavor, and this time, impressively quick service.

I came here recently when I was in the area for a conference at the Long Beach convention center…read more It's conveniently located just steps away, right before you get to Ocean Blvd. I placed my order online on their website and was shocked when it said it wouldn't be ready for 45-50 minutes. Surely it doesn't take that long to make a sandwich! I ventured over and waited in line and the friendly cashier told me he would push my order through to be made quicker. Thankfully, it was ready in about 10 minutes! I ordered the Vegan Vibes sandwich which just like it sounded, was such a vibe! It was loaded with veggies, vegan cheese and a vegan mayo and the bread was very fresh and soft. The veggies were crisp, the avocado was buttery and the vegan cheese was melty and nutty. I really enjoyed the sandwich and felt great after eating it! The ambiance is fun and beachy and I felt transported to an island hut. The seating is comfortable and the restaurant is very bright and clean. I felt very relaxed while being there and loved how they had seating both inside and outside. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and plan on returning again the next time I'm in the area because I just can't stop thinking about that vegan sandwich!

My entire food journey started in a Columbia, Maryland food court at The Mall and a grilled Reuben…read moreat the age of 13. Since then the grilled Reuben has been my measuring stick for every restaurant that serves it. It's a must! It shows the attention to detail. It's not a sandwich you can rush. It requires its own time to caramelize and set the flavors up properly. Just like a house made soup, a Grilled Reuben can tell you a lot. And, it just happens to be my favorite sandwich of all time! So. High marks on the store itself. It has a very open air feel, lots of natural lighting, high ceilings and then a hidden court yard behind the shop. It's very clean with lots of colors and art. The music is perfect for the space. The menu is varied and they have both alcoholic drinks and non alcoholic drinks. It's a deli. And they absolutely fill the roll perfectly. And as anyone will tell you, who frequents any deli in the country. What matters is the food. Period. All the niceties mean nothing if the food distant stand up. So... how did they do? Meh. I've had worse. Much worse. I've also had much better. And understand his is my personal opinion. I'm well aware that my comments will not reflect the opinion of everyone. But, the corned beef. They do not cook it in house. It didn't appear to be a brisket although with it being shaved as thinly as it is I don't know if that would help. Brisket corned beer works best when it's nice thick beautiful cuts that break apart and melt in your mouth. But. As you can see in the picture, they don't grill the corned beef but they do pile it pretty darn high. Which is nice. The sauerkraut wasn't grilled. The rye wasn't roasted long enough so the Swiss didn't properly melt and set. Not enough Thousand Island dressing. The rye has the perfect texture and it helps to very nicely. An excellent Jewish rye! The pesto pasta salad was very nice. And it looked as if the other sides were made with an equal amount of attention and love. So high marks there. This is one of those tough reviews because the reality is the atmosphere, the staff and the location are all excellent. The sandwich needs some work. Remember that the Grilled Reuben is the ONLY TRUE American Sandwich. It was created from scratch for the 1942 World's Fair in New York City. It's an original! Treat it with the respect it deserves. And this three star sandwich... of all sandwiches is a hard pass. Sorry. But, if you would ever like to have me come into your restaurant and show you how to serve the best Reuben of your life... just invite me back. I'd love to show you how to make some simple tweaks and turn a meh into a don't miss!

Their pasta is way better than Cheesecake Factory! The Chicken Alfredo is rich, flavorful, and garlicky. Portions are HUGE, so come hungry! Their cannolis are yummy and reasonably priced, too. You can order in person and wait or order online for an easy pickup. As far as the food ...The sandwich was not for me, but those that said it was very delicious and fresh. Now I have the antipasto salad and I will be honest it was OK nothing extraordinary, but what I did not enjoy were the olive pits that were still in the olives that was not fun. Thankfully, I did take my time when eating my salad and was cautious when approaching the olives as I have had an unfortunate experience that cracked my tooth due to an olive in a salad before. So that's a huge negative for me on the antipasto salad. The price point is pretty decent, the food was good, but to say that I would drive all the way back out to grab a sandwich here would probably not happen, but I'd only come out here if I was in the area. Places clean, prices, Repair, and the workers were kind of to that I am grateful.
