When you are visiting the little town of Half Moon Bay a lot of small businesses close around 5. There are a lot of businesses are closed. When you have a craving you just got to find something. We found Baskin Robbin's which we found open. The service was just average nothing special. The store holds the state of ice cream during this hours. The prices are more expensive compared to other BK stores. Think in the store just go to the frozen section and take the ice cream to the hotel. read more

Extremely disappointing ice cream cake. I ordered the Cookie Crave Cake in a Box and it was horribly assembled and missing half of the layers. Cake was advertised to have "Layers of chocolate cake, OREO® cookie pieces, OREO® Cookies 'n Cream ice cream, whipped frosting, cookie dough pieces, more OREO® cookie pieces and fudge" - it was missing the Oreo cookie pieces layer, the whipped frosting, and the cookie dough pieces. Extremely disappointing and embarrassing to pick up and deliver to someone for their birthday. The ice cream layer was extremely uneven and just tossed on, I have never seen an ice cream cake this sloppy. Lots of space between scoops and a crater in the middle in addition to the missing components. Do not buy. Update: we stopped in the next day to explain the situation and the employee who helped us was very nice and understanding. Isn't there a Health Department rule that allows the consumer to know information about products being sold in a food retailer establishment ? When offering customers six cakes to choose from, it seems like Baskin-Robbins should be transparent, and provide "sold by" and "made by dates." The owner/manager literally taught his employee to say, "I don't know when the cake was made. I don't know when the cake was delivered. My manager has a book that keeps track of the cakes that have gone bad. Only the manager gets to look at the book." Since the Baskin-Robbins franchise owner in Half Moon Bay has a total monopoly, no competition and doesn't have to care about customer service, I shouldn't be surprised by the "you get what you get" attitude. When I asked if I could talk to the manager via phone or email... the response was, "No. You will have to reach the manager on yelp or other social media. I only work here. I had some time to spare in Half Moon Bay around 830pm, and decided to stop by this Baskin Robbins at Hwy 1 x Route 92. When I walked in, there was no one around. We wanted dessert after going to Half Moon Bay and this was one of the only things in the area that was open so we went to check it out. There's plenty of parking and they have two large open signs so you know it's open. This review is only based on this Baskin Robbins in HMB. We have come here after dinner about 4-5 times over the last month. Every time we have been here there's been an issue. Twice the young workers didn't greet us and continued to talk and ignore us. On another visit we just stood there waiting for them to acknowledge us when we were the only one in the store. Another time they were in the back and nobody was in the front while we waited. Another time their computers were down and they couldn't sell us anything. The product is delicious but staff needs some ownership coaching to say the least. Friendly people, always make the best shakes

I cannot even believe this place. We went yesterday about 2pm for a scoop. The worker had her hands in her pockets and took them out to serve us, no gloves. Her sleeve was falling into the ice cream container. I felt like walking out but my son was looking forward to the ice cream. Just terrible and disgusting. On the one hand, when I paid 9 dollars for a milkshake I got A REALLY BIG MILKSHAKE so no complaints there. On the other, the consistency and texture were totally off and I'm not really sure how to describe it but it was kind of hard to get down. I could guess? It seemed almost like the ice cream had melted, then been re-frozen, then been put in a blender with milk out of a refrigerator. There was completely liquid dairy at the bottom that slurped readily into my mouth but the rest was icy like a smoothie (not a milkshake) should be, instead of creamy. I could hear the ice crunch between my teeth as I chewed my shake to make it swallowable. I'm not an expert, this is only my second shake this year but I don't think that's how it's supposed to be. I get it, it is late. You were supposed to close 30 minutes ago. But there was a line of customers that was already there and you HAD to stay late to get them all their ice cream. I ordered a brownie sundae with two flavors. It was for the wife, so of course it better be perfect or I would bear the brunt. Got my $8 bill and virtually a hint of the brownie that was supposed to be in the sundae. Got two very small scoops of ice cream, so yes, the ingredients met the basic order but it was lacking in soooo many ways. My fault, I was the last order in the back of the line when they were already planning on being home. They were closed so when I got home and opened the lid so I couldn't come back to show them the product. The wife got a hint of what she wanted, but not enough to satiate. Food = 2 Service = 1 Location = 4 Parking = 4 Bathroom = -1. This didn't happen on this visit but did on a previous visit. Had a very long drive getting back to the coast because of all of the tourists. Had to really pee but wife also wanted ice cream. As a paying customer I am not looking for a public toilet. Me and my husband came in here before 9 (more than an hour before close) and got terrible service! When we walked in, no acknowledgment of us being there at all. The two girls working looked at us and one continued to look down behind the register as the other was sweeping next to us. After we finally got a "can I help you?" It's an okay place, but almost six bucks for two scoops is ridiculous. It's less than three bucks for Thrifty's ice cream (my favorite). Went there today, but they always run out of the good flavors after a hot weekend, so decided to come to Baskin Robbins. Their scoops are big, but I've had better. The cookie dough ice cream is not good. While the chunks of dough are big, they are kind of gritty. I liked the tiny chips, but not the cookie dough. The Oreo ice cream was good. The weird thing about BR ice cream is that it seems to melt faster than other ice cream. I live two minutes away, and both scoops had melted considerably by the time I pulled into the driveway. I ate some and re-froze the rest. Don't think I'd make it a habit to come here. It's an "in case of emergency" kind of place. 3 stars because the young lady behind the counter was really nice. read more

Dear Baskin Robbins please make ice cream cakes in a variety of flavors. Having 8-12 Mint Choc Chip + 1 Vanilla Chocolate in the entire freezer case causes me to question your inventory savvy and definitely your customer service. Baskin Robins is a safe bet when choosing ice cream but this location was far from that. They only carried roughly ten flavors and 2 of them were out (and they had nothing left in the back when I asked). In addition to the lack of flavors the customer service was disappointing. There were two women who did not say hello, thank you, or you're welcome. There was no greeting and the only time they acknowledge us was when they yelled at us to step outside.
