Decided to check this place out on a Saturday after seeing they had a beer garden in the back and the smell of the bbq. They only do Hawaiian BBQ Friday to Sunday btw. It was a nice sunny day so the beer garden was super chill. You can even watch the chefs cooking the BBQ which was cool. We Got "The Chosen One" plate and it was sooo good. The tri tip and chicken were fireee. We also got the Garlic Shrimp Plate. The shrimp was kinda bland though, it needed more seasoning, but the garlic butter flavor was still nice. If they tweak it a little, it would be just as good as everything else. Also just a heads up they make everything to order so it takes sometime for the food to come out. This is a tough review to write but I feel like I should share, even though we probably didn't have the "full" experience. My husband and I had walked around downtown Half Moon Bay and saw the sign for a little beer garden, and decided to walk over. The owner was outside grilling (Superbowl Sunday) and having a good ol' time chatting with another customer. We sat down and he immediately turned the heater on for us and asked what we'd like to order. We had 3 beers between the two of us, and it was $40. Way more than we expected, but honestly we had such a fun time and he gave us a treat of some of the chicken he was grilling. Super friendly guy and staff, fun little random beer garden, definitely not what I would usually look for since they were limited on drink options, too, but we really enjoyed talking with him. As a side note - I saw a few comments about not having restrooms available for customers... I did ask and they directed me inside to use the main restroom, so no issue on my end for that piece. read more

What made it worse, is that half the flavors we wanted were out! After waiting way longer than we should have, because the staff showed no sense of urgency and moved at a snails pace. My mom is from Hilo so I have some pretty strong opinions on what Hawaiian food is supposed to taste like. The food here tastes just like I want it to. We had spam musubi, bbq chicken, mac salad and rice. They all tasted like they were made by my various aunties. I will definitely be eating here again. It took us a long time to try this place because I thought they didn't have seating- they have a spacious outdoor seating area in the back! Definitely recommend if you have kids. read more

We've lived in HMB for a number of years and I just discovered this place today. My dog and I were looking forward to having a beer at a local brewery, but we were asked to leave because it is also a restaurant and dogs weren't allowed inside. Anyway, we found the beer garden at Nano's and were immediately welcomed in. They had a few beers on tap, but the highlight was the atmosphere. It is sad to leave such a review but this was quite shocking to me. My daughter wanted to order just a milkshake with oreo cookie ice cream. The 2 people inside the counter took more than 5minutes to serve us, though preparing food, chatting and so slowly moving - negative impressions. Then, the milkshake was super diluted, "tasted like water downed milk" for $11!!!! (Price $32~) This was enough for 2 people to split and more. Everything was grilled to perfection. All proteins were well-seasoned and not over cooked or tough. Add some Siracha for that perfect bite. We took our order to-go and enjoyed it at the beach. We came right at 11am when they opened on a Friday but they weren't quite ready yet. My husband got me shave ice from here during the pumpkin festival, so I can't comment on the service or ambiance. My shave ice wasn't very good, though. I chose watermelon, lychee, and p.o.g. as my flavors. The flavors were so overly sweet and tasted artificial. The ice was in pretty big chunks, so I was afraid that with one dip of my spoon, the whole mound of ice would come crashing down. I went to this small shop hoping to get some milk tea. My family got a taro milk tea and a Thai milk tea. There were small white particles floating in the drink. The milk teas tasted like water down milk. The boba wasn't even sweet and soft. The service was okay, but the barista making the milk teas kept looking at me and my family in a particular way. Also the prices of these drinks are way too much. About $9 per drink and we couldn't even drink it becuz of the taste.
