It's always such an amazing time going to Tuna Kahuna for their Chef's Table available on Fridays and Saturdays. They have super fresh fish, and the photos just speak for themselves.... Look at it glisten!! Though pricy, the Kahuna donburi is a loaded bowl with the best cuts of fish which I highly recommend. Even the lean akami is super succulent and delicious! It comes with nori on the side so you can wrap your own roll. We always like balancing the meal with a yuzu salmon/hamachi bowl, which helps cut the fattiness of the fish with the yuzu seasoning. I love that it's a family owned business, and you can tell the owner, Clarence, has a lot of passion for his craft. I'll be a repeat customer until I die. Tuna Kahuna forever!
We stopped by Tuna Kahuna on a Saturday around noon to pick up lunch. I was impressed by how quickly they got our order out. We ordered the Ginger Scallion Bowl and the Yuzu Salmon Hamachi Bowl. The fish tasted fresh, the portion sizes were solid, and neither bowl felt overly heavy, which made for a really satisfying lunch. Of the two, I preferred the Yuzu Salmon Hamachi Bowl. Both were good, but the ginger flavor in the Ginger Scallion Bowl was a little overpowering for me. I wished there were a couple more ingredients to help balance everything out. It was still enjoyable, but felt like it was missing a little something to bring it all together. Overall, Tuna Kahuna is a good spot for a fresh poke bowl. I'd definitely come back to try some of their other options.

This place has been on my list for several years and I'm so glad we finally got to go! Got the spicy chili garlic pole bowl. The fish is super fresh and the cured egg was delicious. It added that extra depth of umami that took the dish to the next level. The service was amazing, we sat at the bar and saw a lot of regulars come in. It's clear why there are so many regulars. The food is great and Quan and his kids are the best. They are so kind and made our experience dining at Tuna Kahuna so much better. I would 100% come back and bring friends. It's a great spot to go to and made for a memorable Friday night.
The ambiance is like a lounge/bar feeling. They serve alcohol and the staff are friendly and you can socialize with them. Sienna is my favorite! the raw fish is the freshest quality I've had at any poke place and the yuzu is the bomb! Hands down, a place I bring my out of town friends to show off the neighborhood.
I will definitely come back here again, this is a great poke store in downtown Burlingame that deserves its success. I ordered a bowl with kahuna white rice, salmon, edamame, corn, seaweed salad, shredded nori, sesame seeds, and furikake. Each of these came with a heaping portion and was so delicious! The quality of the fish here is excellent, you could do without sauces and let the flavor profile of the salmon shine on its own. After mixing my bowl up, it tasted so delicious and so fresh! Each bite had its own unique texture.

The salmon and hamachi were fresh and light! Not fishey or gamey at all. The rice was also made fresh and paired so well with everything else! The service was great! As someone with food allergies, I was really impressed with the service. The staff were incredibly friendly and took my allergies seriously, double-checking everything to ensure my meal was safe. That extra care gave me a real sense of trust. Highly recommend for the fresh food and the peace of mind! I love the location and I'm glad to find a great spot here!
Tuna Kahuna had a special sake tasting event in collaboration with Sakeman. Since I was already in the area and early for my dinner plans, I decided to stop by for a quick bit. The inside of the restaurant has a few tables for dining in and quite a few seats at the bar area with TVs directly above the bar, making this a great destination to grab some drinks and food after work. During the sake tasting I tried five different types of sake. Sakeman did a thorough job of describing each sake upon pouring and suggesting what types of food would pair great with each one. Since I am not a regular sake drinker, it was nice to be able to really taste the differences in each. For the fifth and final pour, this bottle was kept in the fridge and was recommended to try both cold and at room temperature (after warming up a bit) and it was surprising to notice the differences in taste. I really enjoyed the sake tasting event at Tuna Kahuna. It was also nice meeting the owner of the restaurant and getting to chat with him a bit. With the exceptional service and overall vibe of Tuna Kahuna, I regret not ordering a poke bowl during this visit since it would've tasted much better than the food I had at my preplanned dinner a block away!

There are only a few tables to sit but you can always enjoy your food via takeout or at the bar table. The poke here is very solid. We ordered the Spicy Chili Garlic Bowl and the Salmon Lover Bowl. The Spicy Chili Garlic came with hamachi and tuna and was not super spicy, just a kick. The Salmon Lover bowl came with of course salmon and edamame and more veggies. Yum!! Stopped by here because I was craving sushi for lunch and I was in the area. There are fish is extremely fresh and I really love how big the portions are. I got the spicy chili crunch and it had good flavor. It is definitely on the pricier side as I paid almost $25 for a signature bowl, but it can easily feed two meals so it felt worth it lol Would definitely come back if I'm in the area!

Been coming here for a long time! Their fish has the freshest quality. They have lots of options for toppings as well. Bowls are always made quick. Staff is always friendly and there's lots of tables and seatings with an open environment. Only con is that when I ask for double scoops for their toppings I seem to only get one most times. Overall a pretty solid poke spot. It's been my family and I's favorite place for poke. read more
Fresh ingredients, quick service, clean and bright location, and delicious food - who can ask for more? I got the regular create your own bowl with arugula and mixed greens, house tuna, blue crab (extra $2), green onions, original and yuzu sauces, cucumbers, tomatoes, edamame, beets, seaweed salad and sesame seeds. Every bite was flavorful. I didn't think I was going to be able to finish the whole bowl, but I did. The only negative was the blue crab was a little fishy. For $2 extra, I think I'll save the couple of bucks next time. read more

We have still been ordering from Tuna Kahuna since they've opened (5 years!) and it's still my favorite 'poke' place. Came here recently, and figured I should update my review (last one 2022). If I could eat this every week, I totally would. Though it would def hurt my wallet. It's not cheap, but it makes sense bc they use fresh ingredients. I don't know if it's "poke;" I still think of it as an elevated sashimi bowl (fresh salmon) with the accoutrements of a poke bowl (radish, imitation crab, etc). For 5 years, I've been ordering the Yuzu Salmon. I don't even know what other options they have because they make this one so well. People working there are super friendly. You can order at your table with QR code or go to register. Parking can be annoying so sometimes we do order take out or delivery. The food travels well. Inside is kind of small, easy for 2 ppl to get table, might be hard for larger parties. They have outdoor seats too. read more

Stopped by here on our way pass SF and remembered this place a few years back and I remember liking the place. What caught my eye at first is that they actually sell FRESH crab meat and knowing my bf that loves crab.. I had to take him here! He got the fresh crab, salmon, spicy tuna. And I got the spicy tuna and salmon. The salmon chunks were actually THICC. Tasted fresh, seasoned nicely and overall.. our mouths were happy. You're able to order in person with the cashier OR you can sit down on one of their tables and scan the QR code that's linked into the table. We chose to sat down. Went here over the weekend for date night and tried the chef's table experience. Highly recommend! Every dish was delicious and beautifully prepared. We paired it with a nice sake, which complemented the meal perfectly. The staff were super friendly, talkative, and engaging, which made the whole experience even better. We've also had the poke here before, and it seriously tastes just like Hawaii! It's a very casual spot with amazing food and great vibes! read more
One of my favorite spots to get poke bowls in the peninsula! A little pricey, but for the freshness of the ingredients it's definitely worth it. Fast casual spot, you can either order at the counter or scan the QR codes at the table. There are 2 small tables inside with counter seating along the wall and bar seating, along with a few outside tables (great when the weather is nice!). Service is always quick and friendly, they will bring you your food and utensils once it's ready. My go-to is the yuzu hamachi bowl, but sometimes I'll switch it up with the spicy chili garlic bowl (love the marinated egg yolk). If you're a poke/sushi fan, highly recommend trying this place out! On friday/Saturday nights, they also do a special dine-in menu, where you can order seasonal items like seared scallops and sushi handball boxes for a nicer dining experience. read more

This might be the best poke I've had in the Bay. It's a bit pricier than other poke spots, but the portions are generous and the fish quality is great. The ginger scallion bowl is fresh and well balanced, and the sauce is there to enhance, not hide anything. read more

Happen to come here on a rainy day after the lunch rush at the request of my wife and son who were nearby with a poke craving. Before I could have a chance to scan the menu with the various selections I received a Big Kahuna hello from Quan who I later learned was one of the owners of this location which has been on Burlingame Ave for 10 years. Reciting the take out order which at my age would never had remembered due to all the customizations, I decided to dine in and eat my regular size bowl of hamachi and salmon with a glass of their La Crema Chardonnay from Sonoma. My bowl was amazing with the seafood cubes and veggies being fresh along with the wine which paired nicely. I learned that we both knew someone who works at a restaurant that we both frequent. The interior place is small however the restaurant has a lot of heart thanks to Quan and the staff working on the day I was there. read more

We decided to sit outside but it was also very chilly. Service doe! 10/10, great customer service. Gyudon: 4/5 Good! I wish there was some Togarashi flakes on it. Seafood Ceviche: 3/5 This ceviche was loaded with avocados & jalapeños. It felt more like an avocado and jalapeños salad. One day I was getting matcha next door and noticed how busy this place was for lunch. It also smelled good. Stopped by here the next time I was in Burlingame Ave. this spot offers build your own bowl or set poke bowls. It's a little pricey but you do get a big serving if you choose most of their toppings. I got the regular bowl. It comes with 2 proteins. I chose salmon. For sauces I got ponzu and yuzu. It was citrusy and bright. I love the combo! Fish was fresh. The white rice was soft and the texture of sushi rice was on point. Customer service was excellent. Staffs were friendly. read more
I was having poke withdrawals after coming back from Hawaii and decided to try their poke bowls. They have a lot of different sauces and mix-ins, love that you can choose one of their signature bowls or create your own. They have both indoor and outdoor seating (perf for pups) with easy to order QR menus. One worker saw my pooch hiding under the table and was so kind to give him a taste of their homemade salmon jerky dog treats. My friend raved about the yuzu hamachi so I had to give that a try. I opted for half hamachi and half salmon on top of rice and kale. The yuzu flavor was great, I had never had yuzu flavored poke before. The hamachi was just a little too fishy tasting for me so I preferred the salmon. Will definitely come back to try their other flavor combos! read more

Solid spot for poke bowls in downtown Burlingame! Upon arrival, we sat down at a table and scanned a QR code to place our order. You can also order up front and take your food to-go if needed. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available but can be limited when it gets busy. I usually get the "create your own" poke bowl, regular size (2 choices of protein) for $18.95. I love salmon so I usually get salmon x 2 with yuzu and ponzu sauce (an elite combo in my humble opinion). For toppings, they have options including seaweed salad (a win for me because not all poke places have seaweed salad as a topping and it's one of my favorite things). The staff are very friendly and service is very efficient. If you dine in at a table and order via QR code, they bring the food out to you. The vibes are laid back and the TVs are usually showing sports. Parking can be tricky in downtown Burlingame, especially when there's the farmer's market on Sundays. read more

Best poke bowl I've had in the Bay Area. Their fish seemed really fresh and their sauces had a ton of flavor. I had the signature yuzu salmon and hamachi bowl and my wife had the salmon lovers. Both were on point. Really liked that they had dine in options and serve you in real bowls instead of the compostable ones that most poke places use. The bar tender seemed really cool too and was drinking with the patrons. Great food and great atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out. read more

Would've been 5 stars but my order was wrong:( Customer service is excellent- greeted right away by multiple people, and order came out super fast. Food is delicious and fish quality is definitely on the higher end compared to other poke places in the area. Unfortunately, my order was a bit wrong. I ordered my tuna poke bowl with sriracha mayo and ponzu sauce but it seems like they only put the ponzu. Still enjoyed it but it was a little disappointing considering my favorite sauce is the sriracha mayo. Would definitely come back but have made a mental note to double check my order before leaving the restaurant. read more

This place is 5/5/! Located in downtown Burlingame, this poke spot is a must try!!! They don't have a huge location, so I hope you get lucky with seating or take it to go. The fish tasted so fresh, the fish literally melted in our mouth. From the sauces they offer, I chose Yuzu, Ponzu and Wasabi Soy. I absolutely loved the citrusy taste with a kick from the wasabi! Portions are decent. Enough to make you keep eating but also satisfy your tastebuds and belly. Service was great. Friendly and quick with orders. The ambiance is chill. An intimate space. Overall, I 100% recommend this spot for poke if you're in the area! I know I for sure will be back! read more
This place is located in downtown Burlingame so parking could be a bit tricky. I had high expectations due to the positive reviews but felt like the poke fell short. The fish quality was good and the sides were tasty. However, the price is higher than most poke spots and I didn't find it justifiable. I got the sauces the worker recommended and found it to be a bit bland and not as flavorful as I would've liked. read more
