We dropped by here after having dinner at Gao Viet Kitchen. We ordered from the touch screen. We got Ube and it came with 3 toppings. We got the mochi, brownie, and lychee jelly. It also came with a s'more stick. Service was fast. We watched the staff make our order. Ube flavor was good.

Delightful creamy ice cream rolls Ube flavor combo was so good, I chose mixed with condensed milk option. Condensed milk makes everything good. Texture of the ice cream roll is quite interesting, it's thick and creamy. Be careful when scooping with your spoon, because you have to use some force to break it so don't push over your toppings out of your cup! No seats inside No ordering in person. Must order by machine at front door Only one size! No small or large. One is good to share

Rolled ice cream . Yum . If Benihana's wanted dessert, this the place to go. There is a self service machine that takes credit card. If unsure on how to use the machine you can also order with the person up front. Being that this place is located in San Mateo Downtown the parking situation can be difficult but not impossible. There is a couple garages nearby and always that Walgreens if needed I always get the bravacado and the bravacado today was served by the manager. Leave it to manager to roll it up, it came out chefs kiss

I can't believe I haven't yet left a review for Icicles! My favorite here is their Bravocado that is made with fresh avocado; I think about it from time to time! If they're out of avocado, my next goto is the Mai Thai / Thai tea flavor. Given each order comes with many rolls, my hubby and I always share an order between the two of us. The staff is delightful here. It's a local business I gladly support!

What do you call this type of ice cream? The one made by spreading it thinly on a cold plate, freezing it, and then rolling it up. It was a trend a few years ago, but there's still one place left in downtown San Mateo. I do like ice cream, but this isn't really about the taste of the ice cream itself--it's more about the fun of watching it being made on the cold plate. Kids find it fascinating, and they end up eating it all up with delight.

Cute rolled ice cream place. So I'll start off by saying that you mostly order through a kiosk. I saw some people wait in line to order from a physical person, however, you do take them away from making the rolled ice cream. This place was also very busy when we went in. There's no indoor seating as well. However, for how busy it was, we weren't waiting for long and we had a group of 4. The ice cream was so so good and would highly recommend! The only downside is there's just no where to sit.

while i thought the ice cream was whatever, i really disliked the speediness of this place. i went on a sunday night and while it was busy, it was incredibly inefficient. you order on a kiosk and of course, nobody knows what they want so they sit there and scroll through the menu and toppings for 10 minutes while there's a line of 5 people behind them. it took me about 25 minutes of standing in line (3-4 people in front of me) and then another 30+ minutes for the ice cream itself. i wasted over an hour at this place just to grab some ice cream. there are better options a short walk away that i recommend getting for dessert like somi somi or teaspoon. the wait was obnoxiously long. the plus side is you get a couple of toppings for free. * there is no indoor seating btw *

Pretty good. Came here at night and it came out fast, using the machine was confusing because the debit thing doesn't work so you need to print your receipt and they have to run it through the register

I haven't gone to Icicles for years now. I remember everyone loved going to rolled ice cream places when it was trendy, but I still appreciate a good rolled ice cream place when I come across one. I came here after eating dinner because I wanted something sweet. It was either boba or this, and I chose this. I wanted something cold yet not too sweet. Upon looking at the menu, there are a few things you should know. There are regular cream flavors and non-dairy options. There's also separate stands/kiosks for if you want to pay with cash or pay with card. I ended up paying with card that night. With the iPad kiosk, it allows you to choose a base first, and then add up to 5 toppings for free. You can add mix-in's in your ice cream, but it's $0.50 more. I ended up getting strawberry fantasy with whipped cream, toasted marshmallows, Graham crackers, condensed milk, strawberries, and cheesecake pieces. My total came out to be around $13. I almost forgot how creamy this was and how slow it melts. I loved all the toppings I got with my strawberry fantasy base (honestly most of the toppings I got are in the base itself). It wasn't super sweet and it hit the spot. I also loved the presentation and the staff that made this for me. Thank you again! I enjoyed it so much!!

Too expensive. It tastes okay but It kind of resembles frost bitten ice cream. Too rich to eat more than a few bites

    Not right now

Are you only open 3 days out of the week?

Hi! We are opened daily 5pm - 10pm. Friday and Saturdays til 11pm.

Are you no longer open on Tuesday's? I came by at around 6 and it was closed.

No, you're not... We went tonight, and you were not open. We've made multiple visits downtown this week to visit your shop, and you've been closed every time we've been there.…

Are they open now on weekdays during the day time?

The line moved quickly, with just a few groups ahead of us. Pricing falls in line with standard Bay Area dessert spots: $7 for a small, $8 for a medium, and $9.50 for a large as of 2025. Service was fast and friendly. While there's no indoor seating, there's a spacious patio area with plenty of tables and chairs outside. I'll definitely be coming back soon to try more of their flavors -- the Chunky Fudge Brownie and Caramel Fudge Vanilla both caught my eye.
