    Curry beef and cheese bun

Lovely bakery with all kind of pastries , cakes and desserts . It is clean and organized and opens very early at 8 am . The cashier lady is very nice and works efficiently. I love their baked chicken pie , curry beef bun , Hong Kong style egg and ham bun , fresh cream cakes , etc . The is a gem inside the city !

Solid Sheng Kee spot though on the smaller side. I usually go late so not too many options but I get my breakfast breads here! They accept card for +$10 and also gave me a bag for all my goodies. Quick service and yummy pastries. The chicken pie was really good!

Absolutely love this bakery! So many selections from sweet pastries, savory pastries, sandwiches, cakes, this place has it all! Wonderful service every time I come in here! Inexpensive bakery and delicious

My daughter bought some tea eggs for us yesterday. It turned out it's horrible. It was not ready and the store should have sold them.

Walnut Cookie and Mochi Pastry with green tea - September 2025

This store have less selections than the other Sheng Kee Bakery stores. I was looking for the Chocolate Cream Bun but was told that they never have that. Other stores do have it. I do want to say that the lady cashier is not friendly at all. She wears a face mask so we don't know how she looks like. She just stares at you. I would give more stars for my review if she was nicer. Could pay with a credit card for $10 or more in purchase. We like their plain HK Pineapple Bun $2.09 each. It has a good chew to it and not dry. The Red Bean Bun $2.19 each is good but the bread itself is very thin. It does have a good amount of red bean filling. Walnut Cookie is good and not too sweet which we like. Mochi Pastry with green tea is good and not sweet but the green tea has a bit of a floral taste. Would definitely come back for more HK Pineapple Buns.

$5 for this mooncake. Airpods case for scale. It wasn't bad, but the service was terrible. The bakery was empty but I could hardly get anyone's attention to check out.

I was looking for pastries and this was the closest bakery to me at that time. This is located to the right of Marina Supermarket. It is self serve so grab a tray and start loading which pastry/bun you want. I went around 2:30pm and there were still a good selection available. I ordered: - 1 pineapple red bean: 4/5 - red bean was good and pasty - 1 pineapple custard: 3/5 - custard was okay, nothing special could've skipped on this one - 1 pineapple taro: 2/5 - might've been spoiled because the taro tasted a bit sour, ended up tossing it - 1 purple romance (taro): 4/5 - this taro bun was much better then the pineapple taro, tasted fresh The four buns came out to $10.19 - not overly priced. The only downside was most of the buns were flattened on the top because they were pretty much tossed in/stacked.

Solid Sheng Kee branch that offers a lot of the usual Sheng Kee Chinese bakery staples! Grew up stopping by here for hot dog buns and sandwiches. On my most recent visit, I came here because I had a sudden craving for red bean buns. Sheng Kee always hits the spot when I need them to! So glad to see this location is here after all these years.

I had a much better experience here on my second visit. I was able to come by on a Friday at about 5pm. There was only a few customers, and I was able to walk around & see everything. Also, the clerk was much more friendly and outgoing. I was able to get some egg custard tarts, mini cheese cakes, curry beef turnover, and chocolate cream roll cake. So, I'm raising my score to 4-stars. It's still a small bakery as compared to locations like Union City and Milpitas.

Instead, we received a cake that literally said "Happy Birthday DAD IN CHINESE!" in English. We honestly couldn't believe it when we opened the box. This was supposed to be a special birthday cake for dad, and the result was incredibly disappointing. Given the large Chinese community in the area, the request should hardly be unusual or unexpected request. At the very least, I would have expected someone to clarify the wording with us rather than literally writing "DAD IN CHINESE" on the cake. This is the kind of mistake that is utterly unacceptable should have been caught before the cake was handed to a customer. The photo speaks for itself. At this point, I feel like this was done deliberately to go viral or something. Unfortunately, this also isn't the first troubling experience we've heard about. A friend of ours ordered a cake from Simply Cake last year for his son's fifth birthday. When they went to pick it up the morning of the birthday, they were told the cake had not been made and that there was no paper trail of the order, even though he had brought the receipt. Needless to say, his five-year-old son ended up without his birthday cake on his birthday. And what were they offered afterward? 10% off their next cake. Ridiculous. Birthdays are special occasions that you don't get to redo the next day. Between our own experience and what happened to our friend, the lack of attention to these orders is extremely disappointing.

I had my heart set on a pistachio croissant, as I love all things pistachio-flavored. When we stepped into the café a bit later, we were informed by the super friendly staff member behind the counter that someone came at 8am and bought ALL the pistachio pastries. He said that's atypical, and that under normal circumstances, there should've still been some since we came before noon. While it was a tad disappointing about the pistachio sellout, I still wanted to try some bakery items, so I opted for a cinnamon twist and a regular croissant. I sampled them with my friend before leaving, and they were pretty solid. I slightly preferred the croissant with its nice glossy exterior from the egg-wash and soft, fluffy interior. Overall, between the exceptionally friendly service and bright, spacious, comfy environment, I had a great experience here. Only hope to get my hands on a pistachio croissant next time before they sell out.

The day rolls around and we drive to Claire's home bakery. Lots of street parking in this peaceful San Mateo neighborhood. You can easily find her business from the signage on the lawn. And meeting Claire in person was just lovely, she welcomed us as though we were family friends. STRAWBERRY CRUNCH CAKE (6inch): O M G this is the stuff of dreams. The cake is a little dense, and the whipped cream is light and also not overly sweet. The crunch is very sweet, so between the cake and the crunch you can adjust the sweetness to your liking! It was delicious, however I think i prefer my cakes a little lighter. I love that Claire uses fresh strawberries in the middle. I wish there were a few more. Pick up was easy and they provided a happy birthday sign to place on the cake.
