The negative reviews are surprising. I regularly visit Peet's locations throughout the Bay Area, and the Half Moon Bay location consistently stands out as the best. The staff is hardworking, professional, and consistently friendly. Even when short; staffed or managing challenging situations, they remain calm and efficient. I always enjoy stopping in for a matcha and appreciate the welcoming atmosphere created by the team. The manager is also particularly helpful and attentive. I highly recommend this location. Another note, what is the deal with people thinking dogs can be inside food establishments? Some customers have dog allergies and dog fears. Very insensitive. REAL service dogs should only be allowed, I've seen multiple customers be very rude to this team when they ask dogs to not be in this store and customers are always shocked!!!! If it's not a service dog it should not be in the store; this is the only Peets I've witnessed actually follow this rule. Good job to this team for that and it is appreciated. read more

I went to this Peet's location this past Sunday (2/1/26) and it was packed. We ordered a chai latte with oat milk with a shot of expresso- so a dirty chai. I ordered a Carmel macchiato. Both were so weak. They reminded us of when you're a kid and add too much water to your Swiss miss hot cocoa packet. I've never had a bad Peet's coffee and we are huge fans. This was a first. I've had multiple disappointing experiences with a barista named Gaby at this Peet's location. She is consistently rude, short, and has a very sassy attitude when interacting with customers. On several occasions, I've also overheard her speaking negatively about her own coworkers, which feels unprofessional and uncomfortable as a customer. I expect a welcoming and respectful environment when I visit Peet's, especially since other staff members are generally kind and hardworking. Unfortunately, her behavior has made visits unpleasant enough that I've started reconsidering this location. read more

We all got our favorite beverages and went to work at a table signing loan documents. We ran into their closing time and I was scrambling to get the documents all signed. The staff were gracious enough to allow us to stay while they swept and cleaned to close the shop. Big shot out the Half Moon Bay Peet's! I'm 65 yo and have never posted a yelp review but unfortunately my experience today drove me to do this. At the Peet's Coffee Shop in Half Moon Bay Ca a place my wife and I have frequented for years we had the absolute worst experience we have ever had at any establishment of any type in our lives. The unbelievable rudeness and incompetence of the staff was off the scale. Not only will we never visit that store again I will be posting on social media and advising all my friends and family to not visit the store. I will also be contacting Peet's headquarters in Emeryville Ca and Peet's World Headquarters in Amsterdam and hopefully get someone fired!! read more

My husband and I had just come in after a long drive from Fremont and were already waiting in a long line to order. After standing in line, I asked to use the restroom while we were clearly about to make a purchase. Instead of simply pointing me to the restroom, the staff told me I had to be a paying customer -- which we obviously were, given that we were standing there waiting to order. When I asked again where the restroom was, the response I got was a rude, dismissive, "Why don't you purchase first?" It was unnecessarily inconsiderate and created an unpleasant experience, especially when it should have been obvious we were already customers in line. read more

The coffee is great, as always. The service - not so much. When my 87-year-old Dad ordered 3 cappuccinos for 3 people, they only gave him one, and he had to repeat the order, waiting for the other person to be serviced. When my 83-year-old Mother in Law needed to go to the bathroom, it was impossible to unlock it because she had to wait a few minutes for the code lock to reset after the previous person. And after that, they closed the bathrooms because they were going to close in 15 minutes. There were 3 senior citizens in their 80s in the cafe at this time! And when we all finally got our coffees, one of the employees came up to us and said, "we are going to close in 5 minutes". BTW, we walked in with our certified service dog, and they said, "No dogs are allowed here". We explained that he is a service dog, and they agreed to let him in I've traveled a lot, across the USA and in Europe. This was the worst service I've experienced since coming to this country from the USSR 32 years ago. read more

First time at a Peet's coffee and I'm not impressed. Not sure what the hype is all about, super bland and miked down coffee. My go to anywhere is a vanilla latte with almond milk, and this is standard for chain as well as mom and pop coffee shops. I'm not picky at all, but this latte came out Luke warm, not even warm and had absolutely no flavor. My wife was not impressed with her latte either so this was not just a one off. We tossed them in the trash after one sip and went downtown to a coffee shop for an actual real latte. The service was fast, so I give them some stars for that. The place was dirty, vacant tables were not being cleaned. Just seems like their is no care. read more

9/10/2018: I wasn't feeling well after Mr. Yellow Jacket stung me and it met its demise . . . RIP, Mr. Yellow Jacket! I bought a small peppermint coffee, began guzzling it down, hoping it will diminish the toxic cocktail effects after being stung-my hand was pulsating so hard, and my hand was looking like a quasi-deflated balloon. I sat down checking my E-Mail via Peet's free Wi-Fi connection, rested ten minutes, finished drinking my coffee, went to the restroom, washed my hands and face-my face was turning red, sat down at the same table, finished reviewing all my E-Mails, got up, and walked to my truck. Essentially, any time in Half Moon Bay, Peet's Coffee has always been my go-to pitstop before arriving to my destination. The coffee shop is restful, quiet, clean, free Wi-Fi, clean restroom, and Peet's Coffee knows how pepperminty I like drinking my coffee . . . That's every Peet's Coffee I have visited-period. Coin flip. As I mentioned in my other reviews, I prefer Peet's over Starsucks and I will always go to Peet's for my everyday coffee fix, especially when I am working. Weekends on the other hand is another story and whenever we are in Half Moon Bay (which is a lot), we had been getting our coffee fix here at this location for several years now. Now they got competition since Dunkin' Donuts is literally just in front of them on the same strip mall, and they have gotten my attention. It's literally a coin flip nowadays deciding on what kind of coffee we are getting so this location needs to step it up a bit. This location is one of the more spacious Peet's we've ever been to with plenty of seats and tables available. They even have an outdoor area that is a good place to chill on during a nice sunny day. When we first started coming here, it was a solid spot and the consistency of their Javiva drink made us keep coming back here. However, they have been inconsistent of late and one of the things I hate when ordering a Javiva is a runny drink. I'm usually a soy latte type of guy, but when the weather is a bit warmer, then a nice large cup of Javiva is in order. When I order a Javiva, I expect the same consistency at every Peet's location and it has to have a nice balance of firmness that is blended just right between the ratio of ice to coffee. When I sip on the straw, I prefer the frothy consistency rather than a watery one then it wouldn't be considered a Javiva. Unfortunately, the latter has been happening here of late and I don't know if it's because of constant turnover of their Baristas or lack of training, but they better get it together. I also have noticed that their bathroom hasn't had the same kind of TLC like it did in the past so whoever is in charge of latrine duty needs to pay more attention to the cleanliness and the smell. So going back to the coffee (Javiva only), it's been a hit-or-miss of late, and no one likes that as a consumer. That's why I mentioned it's a coin flip now whether I'm getting Peet's or Dunkin' Donuts and that coin flip will have me (runnin') into an easier decision that favors the Cold Brew in front of them if they can't get it back together soon. I love Peet's Coffee, so naturally any location that I can stop at after a long drive is good to me! We came in on a Saturday morning and it wasn't crowded at all. Very chill vibe. I got the cheese box and my bf got the chorizo sandwich as well as a coffee. The staff was nice and the service was quick, our stuff came out super fast, which was nice. I also like how big the store Is, since a lot of coffee shops have a cramped interior and very little room. Not at this one, though! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and need a quick caffeine fix. read more

I was looking for an alternate route back to Santa Cruz and my hotel after my meetings in Menlo Park. I remembered seeing that there were signs in Santa Cruz pointing North to Half Moon Bay - and seeing exit signs for Half Moon Bay off of Interstate 280 (I-280). So I rolled the dice without looking at the map - got off on Route 92 - and followed it through the mountains to Half Moon Bay. I needed caffeine badly - and was happy to see a Peet's. I ordered one of my go to drinks - a triple espresso machiatto. Drink was made fairly quickly and efficiently. The drink smelled heavenly. And then to taste: Wow! Rich, strong, robust, delicious - without being bitter! Way better than the espresso I get when I visit a Starbucks! This is a fairly large Peet's - lots of seating! This has to be the worst Peet's coffee I've ever had. I've been to other locations and had no issues. Their drinks come out cold and super bland, to much milk, not enough espresso, idk, just not right. I got a vanilla latte and my wife got the pumpkin latte. We couldn't even force ourselves to drink them. We were so upset we just left. One drink mistake, ok then that's worth having them remake, but both drinks?! It's a very nice cafe set up with friendly staff. They've got cups for here and a 10 cent reduction if you bring your own cup. There's lots of space for people to sit and work. They also have WiFi and two restrooms. Noise isn't too loud so I am always able to work well here. Prices are higher than need be, but of course that every Peet's and not just this one. read more

It was easy to locate, Google Maps took us right to the location. It has indoor as well as outdoor seating options available. Parking was easy to find. Few times that I have been here, they have always been super busy and have ended up waiting in the line to even be acknowledged by the barista. My usual order is cold brew fog latte - super good however for what you pay, the amount of coffee you get is not a good price to proportion ratio. Personally, its once in a while coffee spot for me. read more
