This is supposed to be fig sauce, goat cheese, and pepperoni. The fig was so sparse I couldn't even taste it. And I don't know if they forgot the goat cheese - oh no I see a tiny bit of it. Man this was disappointing. As someone who is a regular and brings friends and family there, I don't think I can do so again without fear of being let down. I ordered delivery and was happy that is came on time and everything I ordered was in the order. The pizza crust was very bland and there was very little sauce if any on the pizza. I paid $2.5 for onions to be added I expected to actually see onion. I had to search just to ensure it was added and I found one piece of onion. The salad had lettuce, a LOT of mushrooms, and what looked like an entire tomato sliced. Was it worth the price I paid, no. If it was half that cost this review would be completely different, but way too expensive for what I received. It is a sad day when one person spends $50 bucks for a small pizza and salad. This place definitely has its charm. It has all the makings to be your favorite local pizza spot. But there were some things that I wish or just hang onto the next level. The tomato sauce that they had was so fresh and tasty and it stood out. But having things like cheese sticks, really could make their sides really pop. The breadsticks were good, but on their own they really did not stand out to me. If they had cheese incorporated to it, it would have been unreal. The pizza was good and the seasoning was right but the flavor felt like it was missing something. I can't quite say what. It felt so close though to being something of big greatness. I've had some pretty bad pizzas in my life, but this one was historically awful. It came to me lukewarm, with tiny, cheap pepperoni and under-cooked dough. I've been coming here for the last 2 years for slices during lunch. While all this Coronavirus going on I decided to support this local pizza shop and ordered dinner for the family. I ordered a large pizza with 3 topping. The total for the pizza a whopping $35. Saw this place had a deal on Groupin and decided to try it out, place is tiny and seems to be a one man operation. I had tried to call in advance but I guess he was busy being the only one there and he told me he had 6 orders ahead of mine when I went to order in person. I had the large Pesto pizza and was glad to see that the size was huge so I could share it with my roommates. Pleasantly surprised by this place! We we're in Glendale running errands when I remembered that Basil Docs was nearby. I have heard of it but never heard anything about it and wanted to see what it was about. Something cool about them is they offer a BOGO deal when you donate to Colorado Pblic Radio and are given a member card that you can use at different places in the area (it pays to give back!) BOGO dinner? Don't mind if I do.... We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and no one else was there. We ordered a couple of calzones (three fillings included) and a salad to split. As others mentioned, there's a counter you order from and then they box it up and let you do whatever you please. We sat outside and dined once we got our food and it was good. I'm weird and don't like when bread gets soggy so I really didn't enjoy the calzone at the moment since I was too busy trying to keep it together. Luckily their calzones are huge so I had the second half to take home and had it for lunch today. I baked in the oven at 400 degrees for 18 minutes and it was pure perfection! I got pepperoni, mushroom and goat cheese and it made my stomach sing! I may start going here to get a calzone and save it for the next day. Two stars only because the pizza itself is good. Ordered through Door Dash, which said 30-40 minutes. An hour later, app shows the driver is in the parking lot, and says 9-14 minutes. I got the pizza 10 minutes later (30 minutes later than high estimate) and it was barely warm. I live 1/4 mile away. It takes EFFORT to deliver a cold pizza from that short a distance. That said, that's not the real issue. I call up Basil Doc's to find out what happened. Guy answers the phone and says they use Door Dash for deliveries. Fine. I don't care who they use as long as they deliver quickly enough. I explain that my $33 large pizza was barely warm. He proceeds to tell me a half-intelligible story about the driver sitting in the parking lot, and WiFi not working. I repeat that I am only trying to figure out what happened, and the guy just hangs up on me. I was being nice. Not blaming anyone. Just asking what happened. The guy hung up on me! The breadsticks weren't too oily and easy to tear apart and eat. The mediterranean salad could use some work however, as it was very plain, and the spinach leaves were not as crisp (fresh) as I would like. It wasn't bad enough to leave a negative review. Although a bit tricky to find (I totally missed the sign at dusk), we are excited to have a nearby pizza place that we will definitely visit again. I placed an order over the phone for a large half sausage, half cheese pizza. When I went to pick up my order, it took them a minute or two to find my pizza, as the wrong name had been written down from the phone order. "Are you sure you're at the right location?" "What was the name again?" Eventually they found the pizza after I described my order, but it took a little longer than expected. I was blown away at the size of a large pizza, it barely fit in my passenger seat! But boy, did it make my car smell excellent. I only tried the cheese half of the pizza, but I really enjoyed it. Great balance between sauce, toppings and well-cooked crust (and I normally don't like crust). I'm looking forward to our next pizza night to try another Basil Doc's pie. Worst pizza I've ever had... it was freezing cold 5 minutes after picking up, I was at their location for pick up prior to when they told me to be and it was already done.. hm. They told me it was pulled 2 minutes before I arrived. I literally didn't even open the pizza until I arrived at home not 5 minutes later. This pizza is completely falling apart and freezing cold. This was my first time coming here (because Pie Society was closed) and I couldn't be anymore disappointed. I tried calling and speaking to someone and he told me he wasn't sure what he could do about it, and that I could order and pay for another pizza. LOL! His excuse was that it's cold outside... he would be correct if I would have walked home with the pizza, that's the only way it would make sense to look like this. Super unfortunate! We thought we would give this place a try for my 60th birthday . We ordered for pickup on Jan 20 /21 . Our order was for a large thin crust Italian sausage , green pepper and onion . When we brought the pizza home and opened the box we were so surprised to see that there was practically no sausage with maybe one to two pieces per slice and some slices with none at all . I think BD wasn't skimpy with the cheese but was with the sauce . Overall the staff was pleasant and the pizza was ready when they said it would be . It was my first time ordering from Basil Doc, I placed my order through Postmates. Shortly after I received a text letting me know the item I ordered was not available- I selected another item and was given a new delivery time....2 HOURS later I still had not received my order and the delivery time kept getting pushed- I contacted the restaurant and was only given excuses. The manager was more concerned to tell me it wasn't his fault then to remedy the issue or even try to be sympathetic. So I canceled my order and called Cosmos. This was my second time eating from here. First time was good, so I was excited to try it again. Second time was unfortunately my last time. I ordered a large 1/2 cheese 1/2 pepperoni. There was only about 15 pepperoni on the pizza total, the pizza was extremely undercooked and floppy, and there was absolutely no sauce. It was like eating a glorified very large cheesy bread from a chain restaurant. The pizza was bland. Service at the front was friendly, and I want to like this place but for 24 dollars I could get a lot more and sadly better food from Pizza Hut! read more
