When I came in I saw a booth opened so waited for the girl (with glasses) to come with the water...I asked very politely if we could sit at the open booth and her response was "it's dirty! But I guess I can clean it". I giggled at how uncalled for it was but whatever. Once the booth was clean we walked over to it and thanked her for cleaning it and seating us. Her response: "Yea just next time you need to tell us before you are seated". I looked at my friend and said "do you want to eat somewhere else?" and left. The girl was extremely rude and would not stop shaming us for asking for a booth. I recommend she find a new career because customer service clearly isn't her strong suit. My family returned to this restaurant after enjoying a nice meal in the past. Unfortunately, my daughter was asked to remove her service dog. After being seated and ordering drinks, the manager approached my daughter and asked her to take her dog out of the restaurant. When she explained that it was a service animal, the manager told her that didn't matter. They offered to let her take her food to go or, they suggested she go to the neighboring restaurant, The Crucible, where they are more accepting of animals. Needless to say, my family left and will not return. Later that evening I called in hopes that the manager would apologize and recognize that they had made a mistake in discriminating against my daughter. Unfortunately, they felt justified in their treatment of my daughter. I do not recommend that you support a business that feels justified in discriminating against people with disabilities. You would not suggest a person in a wheelchair leave their chair in the car. My daughter's service animal (not emotional support animal or pet) is her lifeline and independence. I am very disappointed in how Basil handled this situation. read more

In short: A great pho shop that leans a little sweet on the broth, but does everything else as well as it can be done. In long: These guys are still pretty new as of this writing. They already have it all perfectly dialed. You walk into a big dining room with multiple rows of booths and tables, and full windows along two walls. They have nice big slat blinds to keep any glare (or hectic-looking traffic) from interrupting your meal. Nice big flat screens on the wall, too. Very nicely turned out room. The staff are fully blended between Viet and American kids up front; sounded all Viet in back. Everybody is friendly and full of smiles. The menu is brief and perfectly focused--pho, banh mi, noodle bowls, the usual appetizers and tea. Just exactly what you'd expect. The large pho comes out in one of those gigantic ceramic bowls that you could use for a serving bowl at Thanksgiving. They only fill it an inch or two deep, but that's all you'll need. Tons of room for condiments. The broth is clear and medium-dark, showing plenty of seasonings. Like I said, it's a bit sweet, but there's some bone broth showing too. They seem to have pulled both approaches together. The noodles are perfectly fresh and chewy; all the meats and condiments are fresh and have a great pop of flavor to them. It makes a great bowl. I had hot tea, which came out in the dreaded little silver pot, but tasted fresh and showed up hot. That and a gimongous tanker of soup was under $10 out the door. Given the friendliness, great prices, and perfect ingredients, I can easily overlook some sweetness in the broth and just spice that up with extra chili paste. Watch out to the fellow pho restaurants near by because Basil is coming for blood! I've been here twice now and each time the staff is friendly and the food is great. Their pho is killer, good broth and quality meat. Egg rolls, banh mi and vermicelli noodles are all delicious. My brother got a rice dish and said it was great. So long story short, everything here is good! I feel like sometimes when you want to branch out and try a different culture's food, it can be very intimidating. Sometimes the staff doesn't speak great English, the menu isn't in English and that can make it hard to try new things. Well I can say that if you're wanting to try Vietnamese food but are nervous on walking into a restaurant not knowing anything, come to Basil!! I'm Viet so I've been to my fair share of Viet restaurants and I'd say that this place is a great introduction to the Viet food culture. Had to try this place after reading about it in the paper. Funny how this was Qdoba not too long ago. Love the way it looks. Love the Anthony Bourdain quote in the back. It was a drizzly day and we came after Zumba at LA fitness. Love the fact that they are open 9am-9pm. My friend had the the vermicelli noodles with grilled pork and she said it was so good . A little more pork would have made it perfect. She also ordered a banh mi to go to eat latter. I had the large pho with everything and it was very generous. I also asked for 2 extra small bowls of jalapeños. The broth was perfect and the meats good. Our waiter Tuan was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Decided to give this place a try and we were glad that we did. First time we ordered the pho and short ribs rice plate, it was so good that we couldn't wait to come back! Second and third time around, the pho noodle wasn't as good as when we had it before, noodle was doughy and hard, almost as if it was undercooked. I usually customize my pho order according to the type of meats I prefer in my bowl. 95% of the time, I'd order rare steak, fatty brisket, and tripe. Their rare steak is cut thinly and is pretty tender. Fatty brisket doesn't always have the 'fatty' part attached to it, which can make the meat itself pretty dry. Now the tripes... biggest disappointment. Tripes are cut so fine and overcooked that it is almost impossible to find them among everything else in the bowl. Hopefully that can be fixed accordingly. The short ribs can be marinated perfectly , but there has been a few times where it was salty and chewy. Seems like it's a hit or miss with this place. Inconsistency is the word for both the food and service. Service is either good or super slow and they sometimes forget the orders as well. Hopefully, for future diners, they come on the good day because their food is pretty good when done right. read more

Hands down one of the best pho spots in Everett. The beef broth is out of this world and the vegetarian is the best around. Everything on the menu here is packed with flavor and made with lots of love. I am a big fan of the steak vermicelli bowl as well. You really can't go wrong ordering anything off the menu. This place is amazing. The best pho I've ever had! The broth is full of flavor, but doesn't leave you feeling heavy afterwards. The only pho that had as much flavor caused me to drink cup after cup of water (msg ). The meat is super tender and flavorful. You can tell it's fresh. Tastes better and unlike any other pho restaurants I've been to. The noodles are chewy, but not too stiff. And I like that they don't overload the bowl with noodles because that can make the noodles soggy while taking away from the flavor of the broth. Customer service is awesome. The owner, Andrew, is a really chill guy. Very friendly and does his best to make sure every customer has the best experience. I was so sad today. I moved out of the area and was so excited when coming back so I could go here and eat. It was once my favorite place. When I got there today, there was only a couple other people eating. It was a weird afternoon time, so that made sense. The girl sat me right up by the register. Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but today it was. There were multiple people who were supposedly working that sat in the table next to mine. This meaning, that during my lunch I got to listen to them talk about all kinds of life altering teenage things. I am not sure why when the restaurant was almost empty they would sit someone there. I received my food, that being the most disappointing part. The fresh rolls were super chewy and had hardly anything in them. The pork in my vermicelli bowl was either crunchy or had what was either pieces from a glazing type brush or pig hair. I sat at my table waiting so I could get a box to go for over 10 minutes. The kids were just having a grand time during this. Finally I was able to make contact with one of them and get a box. Yes, I could have asked for a different table, and yes, I could have gotten up and asked for a box instead of waiting. There were only two of us in the restaurant at that time, so there is NO reason that anyone should have had to wait for any kind of service. Not once did anyone check on me or the other customer. I have always loved this place so much . But last week 8/26 , we grabbed a few sandwiches , (tofu banh mi ) and it was completely different than it's been the last 5 ish years . It used to be grilled/ charred and had a really nice mayo/ hint of fish sauce type slathered on it , made the sandwich delicious and stand out flavor wise , to where I wouldn't even eat them anywhere else , I would drive out of my way for that sandwich. Walked in to place a To Go order and was instantly impressed with the interior. The guy at the counter was sooooo nice, and I don't say that lightly. We placed our order and he answered a small question I had. This was only their second day being open! We got 3 Bánh mì sandwiches and an order of the shrimp and pork spring rolls with extra peanut sauce. We waited about 15-20 because they were PACKED, but he let us know ahead of time and we were totally okay with that. We got home and the sandwiches and very flavorful; only "complaint" would be that they didn't toast the baguette, which the crusty warm bread is essential to Bánh mì for me. Spring rolls were decent size for price and good. Peanut sauce was a little thin and needed more flavor, but for the average person and for the area, it was decent too.
