No acknowledgement of my wait time or apology. I said I would just let it go if my nails came out how I wanted. They did not. I paid over $100 for a basic acrylic on top of my real nails. I was also cut and bleeding on 3 of my fingers. I'm extremely disappointed and will not be back. I don't understand the need to make an appointment if it isn't even honored. I feel like the time spent here was egregious to say the least. I went here once before and the experience wasn't terrible considering I was a walk-in (even though I told them I had an appt and scheduled one). Took like 30 mins to get sat but there is a nail tech shortage in salons so I didn't complain much... my nails lasted quite a bit so it was fine. Now the second time was trash... I scheduled an appt. The parking isn't great so I did show up a min or two after my intended time to be serviced but it wasn't busy either... that didn't stop me from being sat 30-45 minutes after the fact for the pedicure portion. Other people were sat before me which was frustrating. After my pedicure I was taken to do my manicure and one girl started my job and moved me to someone else... I showed a design and needless to say it was a C grade effort but she tried her best! The time had come for me to get a manicure but I didn't know where to go. Thankfully, a coworker of mine recommended that I visit Basecoat as she said "they're the best." I went on a Saturday night so it was not super busy. They allow walk-ins so I was able to go in and not wait at all to get my essential manicure. The woman who did my nails was very nice and sweet and did a fantastic job. She was recently new to the shop and said she enjoyed it very much. It was only $20 so pretty reasonable for such a manicure. Everyone I met inside was friendly. The nice touch of West Elm furniture also made the place pop and gave it a relaxing vibe. I'm really sad because I really wanted to like this place and was so excited to go. My friends and I are all in grad school with minimal time for ourselves and wanted to come here as a treat. We made an appointment over a week ago and upon arrival we're frowned upon and told "we are short staffed." We arrived 15 min prior to our appointment and informed them we were okay to wait but had other commitments in the next 2 hours in which we were told "just be patient." While we waited, others walked in with appointment times AFTER ours and were seen, in, and out before we were. It took 2.5 hours for our pedicures, that were nothing but average. Super upset. My friends pedicure that she paid over $50 for still had hangnails and ingrown nails left... :/ also a $2.50 card fee that we were never told about until time of payment. New to the Birmingham area and wanted To find a place similar to the nail salon I had back home. Well, I did not find that here. I had the worst experience of my life. First they started by frying my skin by soaking my whole hands in acetone to get my dip polish off. They should have used cotton balls and foil like all other salons to keep the acetone primarily in the nail. Nope they had me leave my hands soaking in acetone for 45 MINUTES. I kept pulling them out to hint that it was too much but they did not understand (my fault for not speaking up but i just don't have the balls). And then as if it couldn't get any worse... i asked for French. I very basic design that every salon I've ever been to knows how to do very quickly and easily. This took my technician FOREVER. As if she had never done French before. Which if she had not, i understand everyone needs to learn but ask your customer first. She used a design tool and spent forever on each single nail. For my French pedicure she was faster... still used the design tool. When it came to the hands, she took forever doing the dip and then spent 8 minutes ON EACH NAIL, doing just the French tips. 80 minutes for painting the tips, not even including the manicure time. Thank God i didn't need acrylic tips of anything. Never in my life have i devoted 3 hrs to a nail salon, and i get the same design each time i go. So i paid an outrageous amount of money for wasted time, extremely damaged and burnt skin, and the nail polish itself was very sloppy, my nails don't even feel smooth like they should... I will never recommend this place to anyone, and I will never go back. Unless you want your skin to sloth off from the acetone like mine is, do yourself a favor and save your money. read more

Have probably easily had mani/pedis in over 25 states and the Rx pedicure by Quincy was the best pedicure I've ever had in life. Typically when you pay for the more expensive pedicure, the technician focuses on massaging and not on what's offered/needed for the specific customer. He took his time during the entire pedicure - hit every dry spot and didn't rush at all. Got a gel manicure with matte finish and it was an as expected finished product. This is my first time here and will I be back? Maybe only because of convenience but won't pay for anything else other than a basic gel pedicure. I paid $55.00 for the deluxe I think that is what it was called and while the nail color is fine the removal of dry skin is not. If I am paying to have my feet done I would like to have my heals removed of skin. The girl was nice who did my nails and it was nice she spoke English. The place was clean and modern but the chairs didn't have massagers and the tubs didn't have jets. I'm from Pittsburgh so maybe it's a northern thing? I am always on the hunt to find a place to get a pedicure. This is my first time coming here and I believe I will be coming back for various reasons. One, they are right across the street from my work place. So whether I want to come on my lunch or come after work, I have either options which is a bonus. The vibe I get from this place is incredible. It's so quiet and laid back. Usually I've gone to nail spas and they are extremely busy or extremely full. Nails were filed unevenly, tips were uneven, nails not fully painted, and they were chipped. Frankly, I could have done a better job myself. I told the front desk receptionist that I was not pleased with my manicure once I was finished. She questioned me then asked me to "wait a few minutes" and they would have the technician "touch up" my nails. I told her this was not possible at this time because I had already been in the salon for ~3 hours. Also, it would be impossible to touch up these nails without taking off the nail polish completely. Staff was friendly! It was quick but I was the only one in there. At first my dip manicure looked pretty rough but after a complaint (I should've spoken up sooner but I was in a rush!). I had good service, they got me in although my appt was for the following day and I had made a mistake scheduling. The appointment took about 2 1/2 hours I got a fill and a gel pedicure. I did not expect to pay $150 for the two. They look great but I can't seem to fathom the price. Secondly, I got light pink on both hands and toes. And now they have blue streaks in them I'm not sure if it's from heat or what the blue streaks are from but they fade in and out.
