I can sum up my experience in three words: quick, painless, perfection! Even with the super efficient turnaround time, Raj and his team gave my requests careful thought, and offered several different options for printing, i.e. color, paper style, size, etc. It is very clear that a place like this does not need much advertising as there was a revolving door for the 30 minutes I was there picking out/picking up my products. They can handle multiple orders at once, whether it's for mass distribution on behalf of an organization or a one-off calendar order like mine. I did have to go to a Fedex/Kinkos shop to properly tape-bind a book that I had printed, but the spiral binding options at Basecamp were very polished looking. I paid more at Fedex for the binding then I did for my entire purchase at Basecamp. I had a very simple print job (impromptu card for my girlfriend), but decided against buying heavier paper and fighting for hours to get it printed properly at home. My work uses Base Camp and it's just down the street so I sent it to them. EXCELLENT DECISION. Like I said it was a very simple print job, but Raj took his time and care making sure it came out exactly the way I wanted and on the best paper for the job. The job was likely a cheap one, but Raj spent a good 20 minutes making sure it came out right. I felt a little bad, but appreciated it very much. I'm a big fan of local places, but even I am sometimes not sure if you really get better service from them. Base Camp is a fantastic example of shopping local and it being worth every penny. Oh and the dog pictures and dog snacks are a huge plus. I doubt they'll greet your dog warmly at a Kinko's! read more

Raj and his team put together incredible materials that are far more attractive than Staples. This is the real deal- many places in DC that advertise as copy print shops have staff members that are missing in action, aren't that knowledgeable, and they have ridiculous wait times-- like needing 3 days advance warning to print 100 workbooks. It being Washington, DC, our organization often has the need to put together high quality deliverables for large and small scale groups for training and marketing purposes regularly. I came to them on a Monday asking for 3 separate orders of 100+ spiral bound, full color workbooks to be completed on a TIGHT timeline. Raj was highly communicative, flexible with his schedule to accommodate our big order, and was somewhat competitive with his pricing. I love local businesses, and I always try to support them, but BaseCamp has changed a lot; I went there the first time in 2019, and Kunj and Phil were helpful; they always have a solution! You know when people want to help you. When I sent the invitation design over, Basecamp printed mockups on 4 different papers for me to choose from, and invited me to stop by the shop the next day to see and feel each one before making the final choice. My maid of honor, who designed the invitations and programs, was thrilled that I found such an excellent local business to handle the printing. Not only did Basecamp give me high-end quality at Vistaprint prices, with incredibly responsive service, and quick turnaround time, but I also feel that I gained new friends in the process - Raj and his team are probably the friendliest business I've ever met. I have always had great service from Basecamp. I first came to Basecamp for a laptop repair dropoff during final exams, so I was slightly freaking out. The rates were reasonable, turnaround quick, and the customer service throughout (and after) the process was top flight. Affirmatively kept me informed of everything and set reasonable expectations, letting me know best and worst case timeframes. Given the timing this was appreciated. Given that good experience, I took a specialty printing job to Basecamp. Again, they put in solid effort and got the job done after I had issues with some other shops that were terrible with people. Ultimately, I gladly paid a good bit more than I would have at other shops, because of the people, and my confidence in their abilities to communicate and get my aims accomplished. The gushing continues... We're moving out of DC so... How about sending 50lb+ packages to all corners of the earth? Absolutely, and they'll provide the boxes and packing materials free if they can. Returning zappos/amazon/whatever products? Yup - they'll print the return label out for you for free too. The crowning moment would be when we brought in a desktop computer to ship to a friend. We didn't have a clue how to pack it and had no packing materials. Raj and his team scrounged up bubble wrap, packing peanuts, old cardboard boxes and two people took more than 20 minutes to wrap, tape and pack each piece better than the manufacturer could have dreamed. They then performed magic with box sizing and combining in order to get the lowest possible shipping cost. The computer arrived in perfect condition and we left convinced, once again, that this is the finest customer service establishment in DC. Once again I got great service. I called ahead of time and a nice person said they would scan and email something for me when I called. I got there an hour later with my three little bits of paper that needed scanning and they sent them to my email address so I could use them (insurance claim!). The person there was very helpful and friendly and there was parking (metered) available right nearby. I took my Macbook Pro (the all silver old heavy one) to get the logic board and a fan fixed. It costs around 250 dollars. The service was good, specifically their communication through email as they fixed my computer and they notified me immediately when they finished. The warranty is awesome and came in handy when after my initial repair one of the fans failed again. I took it back and had it fixed for free. They do try and get you to buy other stuff, but not in a pushy way. They noticed my memory was full but I declined the extension or whatever they were telling me they could do to increase my memory. They also noticed my charger was stripped (the old charger with the square white plug) and let me know they have the new chargers below market rate. They got me. I bought it. I'm the type of person that will use something until it absolutely does not work. But I'm much happier now that I don't spend 10 minutes jiggling my old cord to get it to work. I needed business cards. 50-100 business cards. They said their normal time is 45 business days (!!!) and costs 45 dollars. For 45 bucks you can buy 2 packages (5oo papers each) of thick paper , add something for printing! Everything faster than that is considered urgent and than you pay outrageous prices... They can get the job done, but only if they wish to. I think they have a lot of customers and are spoiled. I had 50 business cards one sided, black and white done for 25 dollars +tax. And the lady was confused, how come the guy didn't charge me 45bucks for it... Which would make the price 1 dollar/each. I bet everything else that they do cost a ton of money. I would strongly advise to look for any other places around. read more

This place is fantastic and such a great service to have in the neighborhood. I've sent faxes through them - because who the hell has a land line and fax machine at home? I've also packaged, sent, and received packages here. The color copies are really reasonably priced and high quality. Looks like they do graphic design and make t-shirts too. What a great local business! I went in to mail a package. The staff person (I think he said his name was Ben) was extremely helpful and found the best method and price to ship my package to its destination. You can tell from the moment you walk in the place that they are big on customer service. Also the store clean which is always a plus. Basecamp is still awesome. I've been with them for over a year. I was just gone for six months, and when I walked in, Raj asked me how [__activity___] was. I mean, I don't remember what I ate yesterday. When I'm away, and I want to get my mail from my box, I email Raj and he gives me a quote (always reasonable) and then ships it all to me via UPS. He's so flexible and accomodating. Basecamp is a logistical solution to being a frequent mover and gone-from-towner. I couldn't live without them. I've seen the workers turn over a couple of times now, but Raj's personal involvement keeps Basecamp continuously awesome. Basecamp offers reasonably priced mailbox rental (less than $200 a year) and other services for small offices or people who work from their homes: photocopies, binding, business cards, internet access, Fedex shipping etc. The advantage of Basecamp over a P.O.B. is that they can receive and hold packages for you.
