E-mail from Alex after posting this review.

UPDATED: To provide a sense of what I am describing below, attached is an e-mail Alex sent me after posting this review. He says it was "very unwise and frankly stupid" to speak up on behalf of customers and menacingly threatens that "we will start working on your company now." ~~~ Our experience with Alex and Rush Hour has been a nightmare from beginning to end. As an e-commerce company owner, we reached out to Rush Hour last summer for printing services, only to be met with consistently poor workmanship and deceptive practices. To make matters worse, after multiple rounds of errors, Alex offered a partial refund to us and then abruptly and deceptively failed to follow through. First, despite multiple attempts to address the subpar quality of work, Rush Hour failed to deliver satisfactory results. Our business lost thousands of dollars owing to the fact that Rush Hour's team was unable to deliver a quality product to our customers. The artwork we sent was regularly oriented in the wrong direction, the vinyl wrap we used for our product was misapplied, and deadlines were repeatedly missed. In addition, Rush Hour seems to have no internal controls or consistent workflows to help a business like ours relay information to customers. I would deliver orders for printing and fulfillment to an e-mail address and regularly receive no response from Alex, such that I needed to follow up again and again to determine the status of a print job and understand whether it had been shipped to a customer. Alex seemed to be responsible for order management but had a complete lack of understanding of where our orders sat in the queue, if there even was any queue to begin with. Worst of all, however, is that last month, Rush Hour offered a partial refund to us, but this promise turned out to be just another deception in a long string of terrible experiences. Alex reported to us that a check was in the mail to us. After it didn't arrive for multiple days and weeks, I e-mailed and called multiple times to follow up, only to receive no response. Last week, Alex took the extraordinarily unprofessional and juvenile step of outright blocking my phone number to avoid having to speak with me and address our concern. In light of these experiences, if you have printing needs, you would be wise to take your business elsewhere. Rush Hour's poor workmanship, deceptive practices, and failure to fulfill promises demonstrate a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction. My advice: stay as far away as possible. There are plenty of quality print shops in the DMV, and Rush Hour is not one of them.

AMAZING SERVICE! Same day delivery and the quality of the paper is unmatched. You will not find better prices anywhere else, especially within the area. The Owner Alex is extremely professional and has helped us with all of our printing needs.

Murrow, when the New York Times was a "newspaper of record" and the news sections of major papers were reasonably balanced. The Washington Post and Times don't lie, but their omissions of facts and important reporting create the equivalent in bias by omission. Think about this: no major paper revealed Trump's brazen acknowledgment of his strategies in his 2015 campaign book, "Crippled America". He said "I use the media as it uses me - to gain attention. And when I have that attention I use it for my purposes". Can you believe that he went on to say that " I make outrageous statements - and give them what they want . . " Had our media highlighted Trump's support for Democrats and former praise for Barack Obama's first year in office when he announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination, it would have revealed his opportunism and lack of bona fides to conservatives that had increased influence on the Republican party. His campaign might have gone nowhere. Now that Chris Wallace is gone from Fox News it's hopelessly biased and sensation-oriented, lacking the occasional contrary opinions that are carried by the Post and Times. And those two papers have the staff and ability to do massive coverage of major issues when they choose to do so. So I thought Chris P. got our deplorable news situation right. Seeking the conservative perspective, I got far more depth from the Examiner than the Washington Times. Newsmax is so ideological I found it beyond the pale.

TNR stock takes a precipitous fall. ----- The production values of TNR have gone up now that they publish every two weeks (as opposed to every week), although I can't discern any difference in the paper stock. Franklin Foer (yes, his brother is you know who) has done a good job as Editor-in-Chief. The articles, as promised, are longer and more involved. It remains to be seen whether he can maintain this for the duration of his tenure. Which, in TNR terms, is usually sixteen months. I don't necessarily agree with their politics (and it is first and foremost a political mag). I read it because bien-pensant and Harvard Professor of the Practice of Literary Criticism (which is, like, THE most pretentious academic title ever) James Wood (not Woods) will drop in from time to time and lob a curt, venomous, and always fascinating review of a current book. I appreciate his acerbity regarding the sacred cows of our era (Rushdie, Pynchon, Roth...they have all incurred his wrath), and respect his almost Arnoldian dedication to questions of belief, morality, and style in our impoverished era. Plus this is where Helen Vendler -- a great poetry critic and a sweet, unassuming grand dame -- tore into the posthumous Elizabeth Bishop collection "Edgar Allan Poe and the Jukebox," which accomplished the rare feat of bitchslapping not one but TWO eminences grises of the poetry world: Liz Bishop and editor Alice Quinn (Poetry Editor of The New Yorker).
