I never subscribed to this magazine. Its taken me months to get them to stop sending it to me. They…read morestill refuse. While this magazine is not my cup of tea, it shouldn't take any publication months to cancel, especially sine we never subscribed or paid for a subscription. I am not the only one. this magazine is doing this to bloat the number of subscribers. Pretty slimy stuff.

I've noticed some other reviews are essentially left-wing screeds against this publication. Because…read morethe Washington Examiner isn't To-The-Left such as The New York Times (which is not what it used to be), or the Washington Post (where, thanks to Bezos, Democracy Has Already Died In Darkness), it must be bad. Sorry, that's not how it goes. Like most papers The Washington Examiner is compprised of a) news items and b) opinion pieces. The opinion pieces are more Conservative (What, you wanted more CNN?) but not fanboy level. The news articles themselves state the who/what/when/where/why relatively straightforward... which is what textbook-definition JOURNALISM is supposed to be about. Seriously, the negative reviews by those who have a partisan bent aren't a good barometer of the paper's worth. The reality is most forms of media today have some slant, the question is whether that slant is to the extent that they'll a) regularly omit inconvenient truths, b) write misleading headlines (and then bury the lede contradicting that headline, etc.) and so on. I tend to get my news from multiple sources because too many so-called MSM sources tend to decide the truth for the reader without providing all the facts. Considering how wrong the MSM/ Press has been in the past 5+ years, determining the narrative ahead of the facts, it behooves you to find news sources which at least give you enough background on a subject so you can tell whether it's opinion-disguised-as-news, a false narrative being pushed (by whom, you'll have to figure that out yourself), or something that appears factually grounded. Enough with the cognitive dissonance and being manipulated.

So you're a newly appointed diplomat from some cultural backwater of a nation? Need to catch up on…read moreworld affairs and washington high society in a hurry? No problem--just pick up a copy of the Washington Diplomat at your local library. This month, find out what German ambassador Klaus Scharioth is up to, or, bone up on the political credentials of Ban Ki-Moon, the new secretary General of the U.N. But it's not all work and no play: the Diplomat features reviews of area Bed & Breakfasts, previews of Foreign Cinema, and plenty of advertisements for Rolls Royces & Bentleys. All in all, this is one of Washington's better publications when it comes to foreign affairs. They cater to the international community of DC, so it's interesting to pick up a copy just to see what obscure receptions or cultural exhibits are happening in the district.

I work with an agency in the Washington Area concentrated on public affairs and Government…read moreRelations. I've known the Washington Diplomat to be an ideal resource for International Affairs and Foreign Policy as it relates the Federal Government, US Business and Global community at large in the DC beltway crowd. I'm not sure what the advertiser in the other post represented but considering Chevron, Exxon Mobil, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Northrop Grumman, HSBC, Citibank and myriad other fortune 500s and large corporations have utilized their marketing platforms they must be doing something right as their marketing analysts are probably a bit more scrutinizing than "Jim". Additionally, readership figures is an audited measurement used by most journals with lengthy shelf lives - Jim obviously isn't in a marketing position or he would've known that. The fact he doesn't mention that he actually called any Embassies to see who they read is another factor that leads me to believe his investigative work is nothing more than sub-par. The Washington Diplomat is the only publication that is delivered AND read by the Diplomatic communities of Washington as well as the Federal Government, IMF, World Bank, United Nations and many of the other prestigious public sector institutions in Washington. I've seen their work and writers featured on prestigious news networks from Huffington Post to Fox News. They are a must read for anyone looking to tap into the powerful world of Foreign and International affairs here in Washington and I strongly recommend them for any advertiser looking to tap into the Diplomatic Communities, Federal Government and International Marketshare of the Greater Metropolitan DC area.
