Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. I was in and out in 5 minutes for a small but a little complicated print job. FedEx turned me away with no assistance but Wendy and her team took the time to understand what I was trying to accomplish and helped me do it. Highly recommend! read more

Wendy and her team do great work! They have limited hours right now (11-3 on weekdays), but Wendy is easily accessible by email and makes sure to follow up on the progress of your project. The prices seem reasonable given the quality of the prints and the fact that this is a local business so I encourage you to support small during this time! read more

Great to work with!! I am currently working with The Printer to print products for my wedding and for my small business. I couldn't be happier. They have clear cut solutions to my questions, easy choices. Their fees for graphic design work are quite reasonable. The shop is located on a busy corner near Adams Morgan (I think, I'm not great with neighborhood boundaries in DC.) It's filled with a mix of old printing presses and new copiers. They have one chair to sit in for people who are waiting. All the other space is work space. That's the kind of people I like to work with: a small local business that is doing high quality work and is all about the work!! They know what they are doing. They have been doing it for a while. I strongly recommend this print shop!!! I also think their prices are relatively inexpensive for a print shop. read more

I was in the area and needed an urgent print and scan job. Wendy was terrific -- I was in and out very quickly and she was warm and helpful. I would recommend anyone needing a printer to come here. It's a lovely shop that's been in the neighborhood since 1986! read more

I looked around quite a bit until I got smart and talked to Wendy, The Printer. She is knowledgeable and takes pride in her work. She took our project on--letterpress wedding invitations-- as if it were her own. She helped me pick ink color, paper, size, envelopes. The invitations came out absolutely beautifully, thanks to her careful work and meticulous attention to detail. If you are in the market for letterpress, this is the place. We got an elegant product, well priced, delivered on time and absolutely flawless. Many compliments from our guests on her beautiful work! read more

If I could give this business 10 stars I would. Wendy and her staff are the most helpful and affordable printing business in DC. I print 100s of copies per month- invitations, brochures, flyers, color, double sided, you name it. I won't even step foot in the Fed Ex up the street because of how much better Wendy's service is. Support small business owners like Wendy because the difference in customer service is bar none. read more

I was looking to have my wedding invitations printed locally, trying to stay away from big box stores and support some small businesses. I stopped by The Printer at the recommendation of a friend and couldnt have been happier. Wendy walked me through my options, was incredibly responsive through email and phone, very affordable, and had everything ready quicker than I would have expected from even a bigger operation. The location is also great, right in the middle of NW DC, easily reachable by public transportation. I love my invites and look forward to working with The Printer again! read more

My fiance and I were trying to cut a few wedding costs by designing our own invitations and having them printed. We found The Printer and had a wonderful experience! We had our save-the-dates as well as invitations printed and they turned out exactly as we had envisioned them! All of the staff was easy and accommodating to work with. When our save-the-dates and invitations were ready Wendy stayed open a few minutes late on both occasions to accommodate me coming from work to get them. Over all a wonderful experience with a wonderful staff and a wonderful product! I will definitely be coming back to The Printer with my future printing needs. It's so wonderful to have a locally owned place to go where you will per personal and individualized attention every time!! Thanks The Printer! read more

I was scrambling to get a print job done, and didn't want to be paying the exorbitant prices that places tend to charge for a decent double-sided full-color job. When I called over, they had me send in my print documents via email, and asked what kind of paper I wanted for the prints. I wasn't sure, so she told me to drop in and choose one, and that she would take care of things fairly quickly. When I got to the place, I felt like I had stepped into a printing shop that knew what they were doing. There was paper everywhere, vintage presses, modern printers, and almost a palpable presence of quality. I got a chance to feel each type of paper that she recommended for the job, chose one, and she ran off a first copy for me to verify and okay. The quality was wonderful, and the printing was unbelievably fast. I was in and out of the place with a decent number of prints in the time it takes to get a drink at starbucks. The service was unmatched, quality top-notch; to top it off, the price was incredibly affordable. Highly recommended, and definitely a gem. read more

You can't go wrong. Wendy is so kind and detail-oriented. She tried multiple papers to figure out what would be the optimal memorial service program, and then patiently waited as we gave her the pages piecemeal as they were ready to be printed. We made her "hurry up and wait" and she was nothing but gracious. I can't imagine ever using anyone else for your specialty printing needs. read more

I had a great experience working with The Printer on our wedding invitation suite. We used templates from Etsy, and Wendy was able to print beautiful invitations, detail cards, reply cards, and addressed envelopes. Wendy is talented, professional, and flexible. She worked with me on changes (I had accidentally made a a typo on my invitation!), and she was terrific with pricing, timeline, and quality. So glad to have found The Printer! read more

I worked with Wendy to print several pieces of large signage for an event in DC. Being based in NYC, I wanted to find a reliable printer at a competitive rate. Upon reading The Printer's reviews - I knew this was the way to go, and was not disappointed! You can't beat the customer service received when working with Wendy - she was incredibly helpful in answering all of my (many) questions and kept me up to date along the way. I felt like we old friends by the end of the process. The signage looked perfect and brought our event to life! I would highly recommend Wendy and The Printer to anyone looking for a printer in the DC area. read more

Great service. Wendy went above and beyond to make sure my items printed beautifully.

Wendy is fantastic and did a wonderful job. She was very quick to respond via email and thorough in working through details on a custom print job. There was a quick turn around, quality work, and wonderful customer service from Wendy. read more

Wendy is absolutely the best! I designed my own wedding invites in Photoshop, but I needed a professional to print them on the right paper to get the look I wanted (and to not have them look like DIY invites). I visited her store twice to look at sample papers and how each type held the ink. She was extremely patient with me and gave great recommendations to keep my costs down and to get the best quality product. The invites came out beautifully and at less than half the cost of Etsy, Zazzle, or Minted. I had also asked her to order some different color cardstock so I could fold some paper flowers. She ordered it and handed me a stack...and I don't even think she charged me anything additional for it. I returned to have my programs and escort cards done...didn't even have to go in this time. I just told her what I needed in an email with the zipped files, and she knew exactly which paper to use and what settings to use to get the color right. I cannot say enough about Wendy's expertise and professionalism throughout. You will not be disappointed...she is honest, fair, and a real pleasure to work with. I wish I could give more than 5 stars! read more

I cannot say enough about the positive experience I had with The Printer. I just picked up our wedding invitations from Wendy and they look incredible. Wendy is so helpful and so easy to work with! We had to do some color correction and get several proofs. Wendy was patient as we worked through the various stages. Ginnefine, the designer, did a great job of working with artwork that my friend created. She made some changes and kept me informed throughout the entire process. And when we finally got it right the job was finished in 3 days. The best part of the whole experience? The price! Their prices are incredibly reasonable. I got quotes from Kinkos, Paper-Source, and several other places that were two and three times the price I was charged here. I would definitely recommend The Printer and use them again for other print jobs. Planning a wedding can be stressful at times. The Printer did not add any stress at all and in fact, their price, speed, and quality made this one of the most rewarding aspects of planning our wedding. read more

I mailed a sample of our company's artwork to Wendy who told me she would be out of the office until Tuesday, August 5th. I said that was fine; however, I have not received any quotes even though I have emailed her a follow-up email asking for the status of the project. No email or phone call. I thought that I would receive good service due to the five-star reviews but when you get no response from a company that you mailed items to, you get one-star from me. I decided to use a more responsive company in DC. Definitely a waste of postage and energy! read more

I've just picked up my wedding invitations from Wendy at The Printer, and I am thrilled with them!! I fully agree with the reviewers below--Wendy is incredibly pleasant and easy to work with, and she has been very responsive and patient to the number of tweaks and last-minute changes I had to the invitations. For my purposes, I really could not have found a better place in DC to get my invitations printed. They were significantly less expensive than some of the frou-frou wedding stationers I also looked at, they looked classy and professional, AND I got to support a great local business in my neighborhood! I took a DIY approach to my wedding invitations--I made the design for the exterior and we worked together on the inside text and Wendy also did some photoshopping and design on the image and text. So if you're a DIY bride, this is a particularly awesome place to work with. For brides who are less hands-on, I do think that they have other invitation patterns, and certainly the design capacity, to help you put something lovely together. read more

Wendy and Bianca were extremely responsive and easy to work with. Working with Wendy is just as fantastic as everyone says it is (and so is working with Bianca!). They are fast, professional, responsive, and so reasonably priced. I've only used them to print letterhead and envelopes for my office, but they've been fantastic at doing exactly what we need. And they're very straightforward on cost differences for projects and how we can save money. I've never enjoyed working with a print shop more! read more

I had the privilege of working with Wendy and her staff for my wedding invitations. Wendy is very professional and kind. The invitations turned out to be beautiful, which meant a lot to me since I had spent hours designing them from scratch! Like most other Yelpers here, I was aghast at the cost of working with a stationer for my wedding invitations, especially since I was told I was going to have to design them myself anyways since we had a very specific idea of what we wanted to happen. Wendy was a JOY to work with, and extremely ethical and responsive. The invitations were unreal beautiful, and she helped us have them turn out exactly like we wanted. She was also very flexible and accommodating, especially when it came to paper and envelope type. She originally quoted me a lower price than she should have, but honored her original quote. That is a move that ensures I am a long term customer for years to come! read more

We had our wedding invitations and envelopes printed at The Printer and they look amazing! We'd designed our own invitations and decided to go to The Printer because of the great reviews, the reasonable price, and the excellent customer service. It also feels nice to support a local business and work with a kind person on something as special as your wedding invitations! Wendy was incredibly responsive and attentive. I am not one of those people that normally writes reviews; I generally kind of assume that good customer service and high quality work should be the norm, even though I am often disappointed. That said, I had to write this because Wendy and the Printer provided such fantastic customer service and incredibly well-done work, she far exceeded even my expectations. My now-husband and I worked with Wendy on three separate print jobs over about 4-5 months in preparation for our wedding. The first was our folder invitation--designed by someone on Etsy, and consisting of an invitation plus four graduated inserts with a continuously linked design that went from insert to insert, and that were all precisely arranged in a tri-fold folder--save the date cards, and envelopes. The nature and layout of the invitation required that the inserts and the invite be precisely cut and that the inks match really well, otherwise it would just look sloppy. I knew the kind of invitation that I wanted, but I did not appreciate how complicated it would be to execute until I already had my heart set on it. Wendy just made it happen, and exactly as I pictured! From my first "cold" phone call to her to ask questions and get a price estimate, to nailing down the specifics of fonts and color and cuts, to the carefully packaged final product she provided exactly on time, Wendy was professional and polite and exacting at every step. Everyone loved our invitations--seriously, people called and texted to say how beautiful they were. The second and third print jobs were even easier experiences. Wendy also printed invitations and envelopes for a post-wedding celebration we had planned for additional guests, wedding programs, menus, place cards, table numbers...everything we needed. And all of it exactly what and how we needed, with no fuss or drama. When (as most weddings do, I've been told) we started to hit our budget as we got closer to the wedding date, Wendy worked with us to make the print jobs less expensive without sacrificing quality. She worked with our schedules when it came to picking up the products and when we needed some items with less lead time than I would have liked to have given her. Because of our schedules, we couldn't always make it to the shop, so Wendy worked with us via phone and email to get the jobs done, and always answered emails and returned calls promptly. In all instances, she was respectful, accommodating, and professional...and her work was literally perfect. By nature, I am pretty detail-oriented and inclined to double check things, but I actually got to the point with the second and third print jobs where I didn't even worry about it. I sent Wendy the files and she printed exactly what I sent her and exactly the way we wanted it. I completely trusted her judgment, and she never disappointed. For all of you who have ever planned a wedding (or any other significant event in your life), you know now what I didn't fully realize in the beginning of this process: it's complicated, it involves an incredible number of moving parts, and the quality of customer service provided by your vendors can literally make your life easier, or make you want to scrap it all and elope! Working with Wendy was honestly the least stressful part of the whole process. In addition, printing can be prohibitively expensive, but Wendy's prices were very competitive, and I would say more than reasonable considering the quality of her work and the consistency of her wonderful customer service. I found out about Wendy and The Printer via a Yelp review, so I am glad to let other people know how happy we were with our decision. I would encourage anyone who needs a printer for any job--large or small--to reach out to Wendy and The Printer, as I fully plan to again. read more

I decided to go with The Printer for my wedding invitations after some pretty extensive research on prices... online, other local places, print-them-myself. I decided Wendy's reputation for good customer service and excellent work was worth paying a little more for than online printing, where customer service hassles seem to be quite common. I was VERY happy with the quality of The Printer's work, and with their communication with me through the process. Highly recommend! read more
