A great day out does not stop at the restaurant. Allan Woods Flowers made sure of that. After lunch at Han's Palace just a few doors down we walked to see other sights and a 50% off blooms sign stopped us in our tracks. Allan Woods Flowers had our attention before we even walked in. Walking in you are immediately drawn in by the layout. House plants and beautiful orchids greet you at the front alongside the kindest individual who made us excited about what was next. The blooms!! So many blooms in the fridge and outside that you can become overwhelmed in the best way. And they were all discounted. The roses were our immediate want. So many blush pink large mostly opened blooms screaming take me home and of course I had to listen. White, dark pink, red, and every other color in large and small varieties. They did not have my favorite bloom, peonies, but the selection more than made up for it. I hand picked six and my friend did the same. Going deeper into the space we discovered florists building the most beautiful arrangements. That is when I called my mom on FaceTime. She is a fellow florist and could name every single bloom she saw. I think that is where my love of flowers comes from. We grabbed our blooms for a get together we were heading to and made a quick pit stop at Union Market before heading out. The blooms had us moving with purpose. Allan Woods wraps everything in brown paper with thoughtful ribbon that elevates the whole experience. You leave feeling happier than you came in. And if you are lucky enough to share them, the smiles keep going. My mom on FaceTime and the friend I delivered them to can confirm that for sure. Allan Woods Flowers is the kind of stop that sneaks up on you and sends you home smiling. A bloom worth gathering for and the perfect way to elevate your next one. read more

We received a Thank you bouquet from our friend on Friday May 30, 2025 ordered and delivered from Allan Woods Flowers. By Sunday, June 1st. the arrangement began to wilt. Shouldn't an arrangement last more than 48 hours? We know our friend would be upset if she knew, not because of the high price she paid but because her intention was to bring us joy with the arrangement. We can't tell her, but we can tell you. read more

Allan Woods did the flowers for my birthday party at SHOTO restaurant. First class service and flowers all the way! The flowers literally elevated the room and party. He did tower flowers per my request and helped calculate the number needed. He added floating candles the contributed to the ambiance. He did the flowers in my requested colors of fire: red, orange, and yellow. Roses, tulips, etc. So very elegant! Everyone wanted to take them home including the restaurant staff! HIGHLY recommend!!!!! read more

I called from California only a day ahead to order a birthday bouquet for someone very special in the DC area. I asked for something sophisticated, elegant and modern. The flower arrangement that was created and delivered was exceptional (and I'm a pretty picky customer when it comes to flowers). I would highly recommend Allan Woods for its wonderful customer service (thanks Adam), inspired arrangement and efficient delivery. Thanks for the great experience. read more

I live nearby and have always been curious about this floral shop. Finally yesterday, I went in to pick up some flowers for a coworker who was celebrating a work anniversary. This shop has absolutely incredible live and cut planets and flowers. The very friendly staff member explained that arrangements start at $100 (I got the sense much of their business is call-ahead special orders), but they would be happy to put a couple of bunches of cut tulips in a glass vase for me, which cost a lot less (though still more than other places nearby). It's definitely a super-premium florist, but the quality and assortment was excellent. They also did a wonderful job of wrapping the vase in a box with paper so I could get it over to the office. My colleague was wow-ed... Thank you A.W. for the beautiful tulips and first-rate service. I will be back! read more

Amazing floral arrangement done in under an hour after I called. Thank you Allan! My friend loved her floral arrangement for her birthday.

The team at Allan Woods helped make my wedding absolutely perfect! Jack in particular helped create a gorgeous floral suite for us that was reasonably priced and visually striking. From our rehearsal dinner flowers to an absolutely stunning bouquet to giant buckets of forsythia (which brought spring indoors on a rainy cold D.C. day), I cannot say enough positive things about this florist! Flowers are particularly important to me because I come from a family of florists and everyone adored the flowers. The orchids in my bouquet were particularly arresting, I have never seen ones so large, beautifully colored, and perfectly arranged. I know we will continue to use Allan Woods for future celebrations and are so happy we used them to mark the start of our married life. A true gem in D.C. read more

Update: late summer 2022. The quality of flower was not up to the par. I was given grocery store quality flowers. I'm giving them 4* out of loyalty but they deserve 2.5* for the flower quality. I love to treat myself to professionally arranged flowers for special occasions. I buy flowers for the house on a weekly basis, but sometimes you want that special touch. I have been disappointed lately with the local florists where you pay $150+ for an arrangement and it looks nothing like the website pics. I understand that certain flowers may not be available, but the theme wouldn't even be the same. Anyway, I found Allan Woods through Yelp and gave them a try. The flowers are GORGEOUS!!! They look like the website pics and are super fresh! I highly recommend this florist! I will be back for more flowers! read more

I've ordered and received many high end gift floral arrangement in NYC and thought this would be a similar experience for my mom on Vday but it fell far below par. 1. flowers were delivered on time but one of the roses fell off immediately 2. for $125 dollars plus delivery fee the arrangement consisted of grocery store roses, tulips and pathetic looking hydrangeas arranged in an unprofessional manner (hence why one flower fell off immediately after being picked up from the front door) My expectations were not unachievable for $125. Maybe some ranunculus or better than grocery store quality roses. Arranged in a professional clean or creative manner. Not stabbed into the vase in messy ways. Perhaps a notice after the flower were delivered at the front door would be nice. On the other hand a $75 dollar gift arrangement I sent my friend in NYC turned out beautifully. Will be taking my business else where. read more

Nice selection of fresh flowers, orchids and indoor plants. Not many vases but no matter... this is the kind of florist you go to when you want to bring an assortment of flowers home or to someone who already owns their own assortment of vases. The packaging of flowers is very nice too with brown paper and raffia string. Only complaint is that they are wicked expensive even if you buy on Fridays after 1PM at 50% off. read more

Frankly I think the low star reviews complaining about the prices should be removed. This is a high end flower shop. If you want to spend $10 on some flowers, head over to safeway. Would you rate a high end restaurant low because of the prices? No of course not. Allan Woods has the freshest, and most beautiful arrangements in the city. The prices are high, but you get what you pay for. read more

I tend to be rather selective with my florists and my yelp ratings and I must say....I absolutely love love love Allan Woods Flowers & Gifts! I worked with Allan Woods for the flowers for my small, 15-person wedding, and I'm so happy I did! I live across the country in California but used to live a block away from Allan Woods, so when I planned my Washington, DC wedding I knew they were the right pick. They worked with me over email and phone to arrange a bouquet, boutonniere, flowers for the cake and for my hair, and everything turned out perfectly! I told them I wanted fall colors that would match with the seasonal colors of the park where we were getting married and my husband's suit - and they 100% delivered. I am so happy with how the flowers turned out for our wedding - they look absolutely fantastic in our photos, I couldn't have asked for anything better! Thank you Allan Woods! read more
