Quick service but pizza and cheesesteak were below average. Cheesesteak ingredients were minimal. The meat was probably enough for two bites but spread over the entire bun. Barely anything inside. This place used to be great, but apparently they have fallen to the crunch of money in the last few months, and are becoming second rate. We used to go here at least 2 to 3 times a month and their pizza and Bartolos special sub, which used to be awesome, have gone downhill a LOT. It'a almost like they're using different ingredients and MUCH less meat than they used to. I will no longer be using them as there are far too many good places around here that have stepped up. Took my boys in last evening for the first time to eat there. Great experience. Also knowing my oldest son wanted Boli and he only eats pepperoni and cheese Bolis which I knew it wasn't on the menu which it usually isn't anywhere but when I asked if they would make it for him they gladly accepted. Growing up in the area, I feel like everybody has their pizza place that's the most amazing in the world. This is mine. Don't let other reviews fool you, in my biased opinion their pizza is some of the best in Palmyra. Bartolo's is located along Campbelltown Road in south Palmyra off the square. They used to be in the old Redner's parking lot and near the Palmyra Pool. Bartolo's is a family owned and run business that has been so popular since it opened, it's never needed to advertise. It's a family favorite for many in the area and is loved by most of my friends. I grew up leaving high school on half-days and having lunch here. It was a family tradition to have their pizza every Sunday night. People who leave the town, always stop by for a pie or slice when in the area. Talk to the people working, they have great stories are always friendly. The owners grow tomatoes, other vegetables, and grapes in their quaint garden behind the restaurant. The sauce recipe is a family secret and one of the sweetest in the area. The dough is always soft and evenly done. Their homemade bread for sandwiches and cheesesteaks is just as delicious. All the toppings are fresh. Be sure to try the pizza plain to get the full flavor. Prices are very reasonable. They have a small dining room with around 10 booths and restrooms should you decide to dine in. Parking is ample. In the nice months, they have an outdoor seating area. They do not have delivery, it's take-out or eat-in only. Bartolo's is the pizza against which I measure all others. Some have come close, but this will always be my number one. Sorry but, Bartolo's can BLOW ME! and mainly because the attitude of the 2 men behind the counter SUCKED when I came in to pick up my order. One was busy BSing with a patron and never gave me a glance, and the other was too busy struggling to breathe because he was so large, so I could imagine that would make one a lil grumpy. I approached the counter and gave my last name and phone number for my order. Granted, this was my very first (and last) time there; apparently I was supposed to tell them WHAT I ordered. As I gave my name and number, the rather portly man, probably named Sal, rudely replied, 'OK, that tells me nothing. WHAT did you order?' Right there was my chance to tell that 'barrel ass' to blow me, but I was picking up dinner for my sister and I and she was already throwing herself around because she was hungry. I didnt appreciate the rudeness just because A: I probably interrupted 'Sal' during his afternoon Butterfinger and/or B: I didnt know the ordering procedure. Not a thank you, come again, nothing when I left. There's a reason that was only my first time there afer all of the years it's been there. You must try the Sicilian! I think it's the sauce that makes this place stand out. Their neopolitan and sicilian pizzas are the BEST I've had in recent memory and I come from NJ where I've had amazing pizza. My only issue with this establishment is that I've gained nearly 15 pounds in 5 months and I think my weekly trips for the pizza along with my lack of willpower are to blame. Keep it up Bartolo's! Delicious pizza if you REALLY like sweeter sauce. The appetizers are just so-so, but always served piping hot. To echo one of the earlier reviews, the attitude of one of the gentlemen is indeed a huge turn-off. I've only seen the guy twice, and hopefully he's gone, but the first time I ate there I was treated in a poor manner as well. Unlike the other poster, I actually fired back with "Sorry, I was unaware your establishment had rules." The next time, my wife picked up the order and was treated the same way. Luckily, I haven't seen the overweight offender in quite some time. Hopefully, the owner decided that customer service was actually important to running a successful business and got rid of him. I will give these guys credit, they always abide by their word when they give you a time to pick up your dinner. I've never had them run late. That alone is always appreciated. read more

My favorite pizza place in Central PA. The sauce is unique because it is sweet which I love. The dough is very nice. The only downside to this place is the people who run it, terrible customer service. If you call to order they give you an attitude like you are bothering them lol, always sound angry. I can't really speak to the pizzas on the menu (though I know they have a real white pizza, with real cheese and not some boxed sauce, so there's that), but the standouts here are their subs, and for that alone they get 4 stars from me. Something about their subs is a little better than many places I've tried in the Harrisburg-Hershey area... the ingredients seem to be fresher and tastier than what most shops serve. Even the turkey sub is great, and they're all made-to-order any way you like it. Fresh crumbled bacon and tangy sweet peppers and onions on fresh meats and a toasted sub bun make for a solid meal that I've come back for over and over again. The fried mozzarella sticks and fried zucchini are good, too, both served with a really decent marinara sauce. And as for the reviews citing "poor service," I've never had that problem in dozens of visits. The kitchen area is entirely open to view, and if I were a cook who had to take orders as well when things got busy, I might be brief with customers from time to time, but the rest of the staff are some of the friendliest guys I've met in town... couldn't be nicer, and I've never had to wait long for an order. A & M Pizza towards Hershey has a similar menu (and beer to go), but if you want a really good sub, call Bartolo's first. read more
