Bartell is dying and it really shows. I came in here looking for two things: face soap and a button battery. I found my face soap and the price seemed really high so I asked my magic pocket box. Turns out it is expensive - $4 more than anywhere else. Threw that in my Amazon cart and kept moving. Found the battery section and...it's basically empty. Guess we're throwing that in my Amazon cart, too. At that point I decided to just kinda walk around and yeah...the number of empty spaces on the shelves are very telling. I won't waste my time here again. I will say though, if you're looking for Seattle/Washington tourist trinkets they have a really cute selection! read more

This place stinks on ice. I just stood in line and waited for twenty minutes while the staff ignored the giant line of people waiting for assistance. When I finally got to the register they'd filled my prescription for an incorrect dosage. Then they said they could fill the correct dosage, but it would take another fifteen minutes. I declined. Since the pharmacy manager offered me a weak apology and excuse, I tried calling the 800 number after I left. I got a recording saying their call center was closed. Then it had the gaul to ask me to take a survey after that. This place was bad to begin with and has gotten worse since Rite-Aid bought them. (The Bartell 800 # routes to Rite-Aid CS.) read more

Covid was rough at this location, but the staff has always been super friendly and the pharmacy has finally turned around, for the better. This is a local spot for me, but honestly Bartells is a great place for finding Seattle merchandise and being able to find the best local products. When I had to find a new pharmacy after I lost my Kaiser Permanente insurance, Bartell Drugs was my first choice. I've been a customer of the Burien Bartell Drugs for as long as I've lived in Burien (about a decade). Always liked the vibe. Friendly and helpful staff. I don't love that Bartell is no longer locally owned. I prefer to support locally owned, smaller pharmacies. The fact that it was purchased by Rite-Aid is my least favourite thing about it. That aside, the pharmacy is very good. Kind, friendly, helpful pharmacy staff. Always have my prescriptions ready in a reasonable time. I especially love the pharmacy tech Antoinette. She is exceptional at her job, one of the best pharmacy techs I've ever encountered. Professional, efficient, personable, funny, compassionate. Everything one hopes for in their pharmacy tech and more. I think most people have unrealistic expectations for pharmacy staff and are ignorant to the realities of everything that goes into dispensing prescriptions. Because of this, some unhappy customers and low ratings are to be expected. But that doesn't necessarily reflect the reality of the service. I will continue to use Bartell Drugs Burien as my pharmacy of choice for as long as I live here. It's a good neighbourhood pharmacy, easy to use, they always have my prescriptions ready in a timely fashion and friendly helpful staff in both the pharmacy and the store. read more

I have used the Bartell's phone service to refill my prescriptions and my medicine is never ready for immediate pick-up based on the phone refill pick- up times. I always have to sit and wait for my refills to be filled. It is useless and a waste of time to use the phone refill service! Today, I'm expected to wait 15 minutes when there is no one waiting. No wonder this place went through bankruptcy. This pharmacy is terrible! I would never suggest anyone to fill their prescriptions here! And, it is finally time to find a new place. read more

So they don't fill your scrip until you show up and wait on line 24 minutes? Then when I got to the counter they told me to wait another 20 minutes because "It is not ready". So I go away and I come back and THEN have to wait on line AGAIN! In fact., I am STILL on line writing this! My Doctor called this script in yesterday! I never had this problem at Walgreens. Let me start by saying that Antoinette in the Pharmacy is the only positive in my two recent visits. She's fantastic. Except for her, don't bother. My doctor had to call in a prescription for me that couldn't wait for my normal mail order pharmacy to deliver. I picked this Bartell Drugs randomly as it is reasonably close to my house and I've had good experiences with other Bartells before. 4 or so hours after my doctor sent the script in, I attempted to call to understand about when the prescription would be ready. When I finally managed to get through the phone tree, someone eventually answered, quickly mumbled something I couldn't understand (I don't hear well on the phone) and immediately put me back on hold before I could ask her what she said. I waited on hold for more than ten minutes before giving up. I called back an hour later. I was told by someone else that, because I was a new customer, they hadn't even allowed the prescription into their system yet and wouldn't begin filling it for several hours, more likely the following day. I advised the prescription was urgent as it was. After a debate with the pharmacy tech, they ended up getting it filled later that day. A week later, my doctor phoned in a second, different prescription. This one also took more than a day to fill, but they did so without me having to call and ask them to do the work this time, so that's something. All in all, this experience with Bartell Drugs is substantially subpar from experiences years ago with other locations. There's a reason I use a larger mail order service and convenience is one of them. Nothing about either of these two processes was quick or easy or something I plan to do again. Also, pro tip: don't use the pharmacy drive thru to pick up your STD meds or anything else you may want to keep quiet. From your car, you have to use a disgusting payphone style handset/receiver to speak to the pharmacy, but inside, the drive thru caller's voice is blasted through speakers overhead. You might think your conversation about your gonorrhea flare up is private but we are all listening. *thumbs up* read more

They don't answer their phone. Their voicemail is full so providers like myself can't leave messages or return calls they have requested. They obviously are not checking VM. This is falling far short of meeting their client's/ customer's needs. small wonder their new parent organization (Rite Aid) has filed chapter 11. read more

The service at the pharmacy has gotten much worse. Prescriptions we didn't need, they call and say they are ready for pickup. Prescriptions we do need aren't ready and require as many as four trips to the pharmacy to get. The lines are way longer than ever before, and they usually have only one checker. My family has been using this pharmacy for decades. The sudden decline in service seems intentional. Since RiteAid bought them, they seem to be sabotaging the store. I imagine they will go out of business soon. That's probably the plan. RiteAid bought them just to kill the competition. If you don't already shop here, you shouldn't start. If Bartell is your pharmacy, you should be prepared to find another pharmacy soon. I feel bad for the people behind the counter because I'm sure none of this is their fault. Management seems to have made a decision to kill the store. read more

There is this Asian staff guy with a long hair that's very rude and disrespectful. I might be in my senior years but I am no senile or an imbecile still. These guy is a poor excuse for a customer service related occupation. I have never complained about how much time I have to wait for my medicine. This after they've message me that it was ready for pick up. A few times after waiting in a long line only to be informed to come back in 15 - 20 minutes time. Today was a bit too much because this staff was not only disrespectful but also rude. I've been with Bartell Drug for quite sometime now and so is my sister and niece. Maybe CVS or Walgreens might be a welcome change who knows it could be better. read more

Bartell's in Burien was my pharmacy for several years. The service was always good, consistent and unproblematic. Then Rite Aid purchased Bartell's and a new pharmacist took over. I struggle to even begin to describe my experience with this 'new' pharmacy. It began when my 8 year old was diagnosed with ADHD. After the initial diagnosis, the doctor started with a modest dosage and after a couple weeks, increased the dosage. When I went to fill the new prescription, the managing pharmacist asked me what I was going to do with the remaining medication from the previous prescription. I was taken aback by the question and said that the Doctor had said to hold on to them. The pharmacist argued that while the doctor is figuring out what the ultimate dosage for my son is on the ADHD medication, that she didn't feel comfortable filling out a 30 day supply. She then refused to fill the prescription. I called the pediatrician Dr. Dong in Burien and he was incredulous. He called the pharmacist immediately and then called me back and said that he was astounded at her attitude and that in his entire medical career, he had never encountered a pharmacist that overstepped their authority, argued with the prescribing physician and left a patient without medication. This unfortunately was only the beginning of a series of issues with the pharmacist. I could write an essay on the litany of problems that went from there but I will just summarise. After I already spoken to the regional manager and gotten his assurance that I could get our family's prescriptions without interference going forward, this pharmacist still harassed me when I went to pick up meds. Then there were instances where they said they ordered the medication but it never arrived so I had to go to another Bartell's after spending a half hour with the Burien location while they tried to 'transfer' the prescription. Then I would get conflicting phone calls from there telling me different information about my prescription status. It was chaos to say the least. You couldn't get them to answer the phone, so you would go in and then stand in line for 35 minutes or more only to be told, my medication wasn't available....so this went on and on, every month - some problem. I was in the midst of dealing with the latest issue, the pharmacist was calling me, her staff were calling me, telling me different things. I was so weary from it all and at the point of changing pharmacies when to add insult to injury, I was told that Bartells would not fill any more prescriptions for my family. After all the stress, the craziness, the additional burden on my time and the complete lack of customer care and service, the pharmacist fired me! In my 40 plus years I have never experienced anything like this. I work in public service and I just can't fathom how someone like this pharmacist is allowed to run anything, let alone a place that people rely on for necessary medications. We now get our prescription needs etc. met by Walgreens on Ambaum and there has not been a single issue with them. Not one. I would strongly recommend not using this pharmacy based on my personal experience over several months. read more

I have been a Bartell patron for more years than I care to remember. I felt very strongly about supporting local business's. But since the buyout the service has deteriorated dramatically. I tried calling the Pharmacy for two days. Nobody ever answered the phone, I was sent to voice mail which would not take anymore messages as voice mail was full!! I am 88 years old and I had to pay a driver to take me to the store to fill a prescription. I will never use Bartell's again. I'm not sure where I'll go as we are left with national chains only. In spite of what we were told when Bartell/s was sold that there would be no changes, I knew better. I've lived long enough to recognize a takeover when I see one. If i could give zero stars i would but the front & pharmacy has no team work whats so ever. The pharmacy just probably short staffed but still that shouldnt make them ignore all pharmacy phone calls. Some people like myself have to wait in a ridiculous line just to verbally tell them that i would like to refill a prescription which also cannot be done with a automated service. This review is for the pharmacy only. The pharmacist manager and the pharmacy staff have repeatedly caused my husband multiple problems with getting his medication, which is essential for his life, and the fault is entirely theirs. He has gotten the runaround and also been lied to by pharmacy staff and made to come in on multiple days and times. He has a full time job so this has been a big hassle. I have also personally had such horrible experiences that I switched to another pharmacy. The pharmacy staff were so rude to me and claimed they couldn't find my very valid insurance from my current employer and told me I could only get my medication by paying full price. I went to Walgreens instead to get it and had zero issues. The pharmacy staff always blame everything on Rite Aid corporate. The customer service number person finally helped to get the pharmacy manager to actually do something once, but now it looks like we will have to go through this hassle yet again. As a side note to whomever responds to Yelp reviews, please do not patronize me by adding your canned corporate response to my review as this is an absolutely honest review. I know you will anyways but it will nir be appreciated! I would recommend to and will let everyone I know to avoid this pharmacy at all costs and to go anywhere else! This used to be the best pharmacy chain in Seattle. Since Rite Aid took it over it has gone completely to the bottom. Prescriptions are never ready on time, they tell me they're 2 to 3 days behind every time. You call and no one answers. I showed up at 12:30 in the afternoon and the Rx drop off gate was still down. Rite Aid has made their online prescription refill app completely useless & filled with errors. I made an appointment for a non-covid immunization using their web site. I got a reminder the day of via email. When I got to the pharmacy, they said it would be a few minutes while they "prepare." I got paged a few minutes later, and they said, "Oh, we don't have any of that vaccine right now." What?? After I made an appointment days ago? And they couldn't bother to call and let me know so I made the trip down there, wasting my time and money. I loooooove this Bartell Drugs!! It's probably a bad thing that it's right next to the gym because every time I'm done working out, I am tempted to come here to see if there are any deals. For the past year, I've been here at least 20x. It's gotten so bad that I decided I should start checking in to this store to track how many times I actually go here. I also started filling out their 36+ questions survey online where you can enter for a chance to win a $500 gift card. At the rate I'm going here, I'm pretty sure my chances of winning this gift card is much higher than the powerball. So let me tell you about their deals. Around October of last year, before Halloween even hit, their Halloween supplies were already on sale. I got these sweet nail stickers for 29 cents! These were no ordinary ones either. I told my girlfriends about them and then decided to go back and get a dozen of them. I even got an angry bird Halloween costume (for my niece who's 8) for less than a buck! It was amazing. Around Christmas, maybe after, I got a nice, sturdy entrance mat for a buck, a set of chalk ornaments and uw labeled ornaments all for less than $3. My latest craze: spider man duck tape/10 yards for $2!! In short, they have some pretty spectacular markdowns!! You just need to explore!! Ooh yea, their Montlake (specially made for Bartell drugs) mint cookie ice cream is a must, must try!! read more

I called this morning looking into switching my scripts to Bartell's as I really liked the one in Federal Way. At first the lady was really nice, then I started explaining my issues with current Pharmacy and her attitude & tone completely changed. I am sorry if you have customers that abuse regulations, but I am NOT one of them and to be treated the way I was over the phone speaks volumes. I have no desire to switch to them EVER..... The staff working at the CVS in Burien should be commended for their hard work in dealing with a massive workload. We used Walgreens for 10 years until the ENTIRE staff resigned due to safety issues concerning customers harassing them. The problems were ignored by management. If any of these whining customers would open their eyes and watch these employees give everything they have to fill countless prescriptions., maybe they would show a little respect. read more

I bought my first lipstick in Bartell's in 1966, and have been a customer ever since. Not any more. After months - literally - of RX confusion and the WORST excuse for customer service ever, I quit. I'll never go to that - or any - Bartell's again. For the 4th time, I tried to pick up my brother's insulin and it's not available ..because they don't have it in stock and it won't be delivered until Monday. Worse yet, knowing insulin is crucial to my brother's life, the 'manager' made it clear it wasn't his problem in the most condescending manner. The store is great but the pharmacy needs to step up their game. Today my health care provider called to order a script, and left a message. When I went to pick it up 3 hours later, clerk said there was no order. I go back home, recall the dr and they told me they left a message. So I call bartel, and actually got a person and ask them to check their message. So I wait and wait and finally they come back in saying they got it. So I get back into the car and go back. I have had other inconvenient experiences at this pharmacy as well. Most of the time I get no answer, leave a message but no one ever returns the call. read more

Great local business. I always try Bartell first. They have a crazy amount of inventory, everything is easy to find and the staff is friendly. I was even able to get my difficult to find "egg-free" flushot and the pharmacist found a way to get it covered by my insurance. So nice. read more

Bartells is one of those drugstore/pharmacies that overuses chemical fragrances to stink up the store. These air "fresheners" are exactly the opposite, quite harmful for one's health. If you doubt this, google 'air fresheners' and 'VOC's" (or volatile organic compounds' and you'll turn up relevant information. I only stop in in an emergency, as our air, indoor and out, is polluted enough, and there are plenty of other stores without this unnecessary practice. read more

Burien Bartells pharmacy is a joke, the pharmacist barely speaks english for one and we made 4 trips there to get the medicine she always had to call doctor. We ended up getting the script put on hold. My son had surgery on both arms and was in pain she didnt care from what broken english i could understand. The worst customer service in Burien.
