On a scale of Taco Bell to mi Abuela in Me-hi-co's homemade meal Bartaco is a solid Nuera on the early to mid stages of cooking to please her perno macho. Ambience - it's new, it's hot, it's trendy, so it's loud and crowded. The outdoor seating area is where it's at but even the indoor area spills outside as they lift the walls for an open air concept that is really nice. Margarita - actually decent for a house margarita! They squeeze limes fresh and use enough juice that you hardly notice the lower quality tequila (but, then again, aren't margaritas *exactly* what lower quality tequila is for?!), but they are flavorful and pack a bit of la garra! Chips (basically whole tostada shells you break into chips), guacamole, and rojo/verde salsas were tasty and appropriately sized. Tacos were tapas style so tasty but three biters. Nice because you can try more of the many meat, fish, and food-your-meat-eats (el vegetariano) options available and have them in either a tortilla or with a carbo-less la lechuga wrap. Solid offerings with good flavors. Staff - organized, friendly, and seem to pour an honest drink. The "manager/trainer/start-up el gurú" was working the bar and I expect that this is helping the solid drinks and excellent service. Came to Bartaco on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant was super busy and had a 45-1 hour wait time. They use a text system so you can wander around North Hills and once you get your text message you confirm you are on your way back to be seated. The front staff are friendly and let us know they now offer online reservations. After 40 min wait we were seated and greeted quickly by our waitress. The concept is pretty easy, they have a taco menu with a good variety of meat options, appetizers and of course drink selections. Since it's not a big menu the food is brought out quite quickly. There is an order form placed on the table, the food is a la carte, you order off the sheet by selecting your items. They place small tray plates on the table and the food is brought out in bigger trays.There is a sign you place on the table if you need a waitress and I noticed all the staff quickly stops by when they see that card. We ordered one of each taco, including the guacamole with salsa, corn on the Cobb and plantains. We all loved the food. My favorite taco was the asada and chicken pastor. I ordered a sangria and it was refreshing. The food had excellent flavors and the tacos are small enough that you can order 3-4. I loved the ambiance, the decor and the food. They follow Covid rules to the T. Tables are spaced out inside and they have a good size patio area too. I ordered the cauliflower taco and it was yummy. Rich flavor of roasted red pepper, onions, and cilantro. My 4 year old got the quesadilla and she ate them quickly. My other taco was the Baja taco. I'll preface by saying I love Bar Taco in general. I discovered it in Nashville and after moving here, I was so happy to see one so close to where I live! Parking: few spots right in front of the doors, but otherwise you can find some in the North Hills parking deck. I thought the Bar Taco here lived up to all my expectations except the service needs slight improvement. I believe our waiter forgot about our drink order, and after reminding him he brought us the wrong order, but it was a minor error. Overall it did not detract from our meal and we still had a good experience! The lunch special is a great deal and I highly recommend it! It's about $12 for a soup or salad + 3 tacos (including the secret taco). Don't know what a secret taco is? It's the taco they are currently making but it's not listed on the menu. Came here for lunch one day with coworkers, had a group of 8 of us, and we asked the waitress to decide for us. Some of us had already been here before, but we left it up to the staff to serve us some of the most popular fare. To make things easier for you, I recommend you try, no wait, you MUST try the glazed pork belly taco. I don't know of they fry them a bit, but the pieces are super crispy and make for one amazing taco. Multiple people asked for more! A close second was the duck, great flavor and just enough meat to keep you wanting more. The portobello taco was also extremely good - those who don't even like mushrooms gave it a thumbs up. Holy amazing!! I'm always a bit weary about trying new taco places as I'm afraid they won't be as authentic but boy was i happily pleased! The tacos are small, size of your palm, which is how they're supposed to be!! I liked the size especially because i was able to try different kinds of tacos. You can pick individually which tacos you want instead of getting 2-3 of the same in an order. I had the spicy chorizo and the Baja fish. The Baja fish was okay, thought it was grilled instead of battered fried fish but it's okay! The spicy chorizo was amazing. It definitely had a kick but wasn't an awful spice it had a lot of flavor and heat. Every time a place has plantains i order them as a sign of how authentic the food will be. The plantains were a whole cup, like maybe 6-8 chunks of them. They came with this nice sauce and they were very good! Service system was neat-- you put a card up so a server can come visit your table for needs. Visibly the whole restaurant had a nice vacation beach-like feel that was aesthetically pleasing and calming because of all the blues. 10/10 would recommend can't wait to come back with friends and try ALL the other tacos. read more

We are well into the pandemic folks...every other restaurant is back to menus. But not here - not only do you have to use your phone, you have to order for yourself, navigate the complicated app, share bar codes to go onto one bill (we were a party of 10...that took about 20 minutes to figure out), and argue with the waitstaff. You don't get one waiter/waitress - they rotate around. Good in theory, bad in execution. We tried to order drinks and were told that we couldn't even place the order until the one in front of us was completely empty. Wait, what? He kept calling them "shots", when we ordered Titos and sodas. We had several vegetarians eating in our group, but the tacos were delivered comingled on the same plate...so we all had to grab what was ours (despite having ordered them separately). This was my first visit to a @BartacoLife location, and I will say that the food is tasty. The price range is about $20 a person, so don't be expecting the Hispanic restaurant prices. I will say this is not a Tex-Mex or Mexican restaurant. It is a restaurant that sells tasty tacos. You have your option of sitting inside, outside, or both. I say both because if you sit right inside the building, there are the garage door walls that might be open. So you can be just inside under the roof, while still sitting in front of a 10 foot wide door. The wide door also means things fly in. The staff are very friendly at this location, and they really want to make sure that you are having a good time. I had several of their tacos. I had the baja fish, chicken pastor, mojo pork carnitas, spicy chorizo, pork belly, roasted duck, and carne asada. I think I like the pork carnita the best. I will say the baja fish did look like a fish stick. These tacos I will warn you are STREET TACO size, meaning, they are small, about 4 inches or so. Each one can be eaten in 2 or 3 bites, and the server did warn me that I should order about 4. When ordering the tacos, you also have to order the sides, and they don't come with sides. For dessert I got the churros with chocolate sauce. The churros were great as they were hot and fresh, almost Krispy Kreme melt in your mouth tasty. North Hills never disappoints. I can't say that I miss Plow and Hearth. I'm so satisfied that this restaurant opened in North Hills. It's super busy right now as it's the new buzz of Midtown. This place looks like it has a lot of seating but the current wait times are between 1 and 2 hours. Hopefully once the newness wears off it won't be as bad. I think this place does a great job of presenting street food in an upscale environment. I was surprised to learn that they freshly squeeze all of their juices so cocktails take a little extra time to make which is totally worth it! I love the decor, you definitely feel like you're in another place or on vacation. I have no complaints about the menu and it is very satisfying and the options are plentiful. So disappointing... I love this place so much but I never received some of my food. Paid for it. Put the flag up and 15-20 min later no one ever came. Couldn't even get it to go and had to pay for it all and just leave cuz I couldn't stay any longer. Super sad I didn't get to take my other food home. My new favorite taco spot! The decor is absolutely stunning! The tables have cute plastic dragonfly cards along with a card holder in your caddy to alert your server if you need them before they come back to check on you. They have pieces of paper and pencils with a little menu cards on them for you to write down what you would like in the caddies, similar to Bad Daddys. The sweet tea comes in a large carafe for $3.50, and I absolutely love the presentation. The cocktail menu was innovative with some great combinations! If you love Mezcal as much as I do, you're going to feel right at home here. I could definitely see myself sipping on a mezcal margarita sitting on their stunning patio. If you are on a gluten free diet you definitely want to ask your server what things are gluten-free and what is not, for example the Baja fish tacos state they are gluten-free in the menu but they are actually fried. My favorites were the chorizo and the glazed pork belly. The glazed pork belly tacos were absolutely phenomenal. I will come back just to eat my weight in pork belly tacos. The elote was good, not my favorite though. The service was great, Patrick was super helpful and easy to pick out of the crowd with his outstanding hair. The brussel sprouts taco is the only one I'd order again. There was something off about the flavor profile of the cauliflower taco, maybe the chipotle sauce on top was too smokey for me.
