A lazy Saturday turned amazing when I pulled up to the bar at Bar Taco in North Hills (Raleigh) . First of all the drink: the bartender (sweet beautiful Kennedy) literally mixed up a FRESHER THEN FRESH thrust quencher. Like fresh squeezed limes, grapefruits, oranges is how this bar operates - right in front of you! Tossed and poured - my drink had a zing that zanged!!! Now the tacos: my order arrived and I can tell you they were smackin' good. Ohhhhh weeeee! I was dancing and talking to myself as I eat the Chicken Verde taco which was insanely tasty. Ended up ordering a second. I also had the Chinken Tinga that hit right but that Verde ... took me out! I wish I knew how to describe 'flavor'. The kind where your tongue dances. There's a tingle that makes your tongue dance. It was like that! This is a credit/debit spot so no need to come with cash. Reservation would be good at peak times but I walk right to the bar. I went back to Bartaco for the first time after 7 years and had a great experience. My friend was already there and had a booth for us. I was greeted warmly by the hostess. There were people sitting out on the patio and the ambiance was super cute. It's super cute inside too. Skylar was our awesome server. She was so attentive and helpful. I ordered 3 tacos, Baja Fish, Roasted Duck and a Pork Belly on flour tortillas, I'm not a fan of corn tortillas. They were so good that I ordered another Baja Fish. On the menu, they recommended 3-5 tacos (if it's your meal) because they are so small. My friend had the Chicken Verde bowl and said it tasted different than what she had before but it was still really good. I'm so glad we went and everything was so good. read more

Always a favorite- but can get noisy inside. I love the vegetarian options- lots to choose from. The chips, while the standard ferret, Mexican restaurants, are uncommonly great here. And their salsa are refreshing and enjoyed throughout our meal, every time! The Baja fish, and cauliflower tacos are must haves every time we visit, as is the guacamole and key lime pie. Menu is solid, flavorful and just interesting enough to keep you interested and coming back to revisit a favorite or try something new. read more

Nice waitstaff, quick with requests and food comes out fast which is typical of Bartaco's we've been to. Their fish taco remains my favorite and I love their duck birria. Great guacamole. 27Jan2026. As like most places, sometimes the experience reflects the service. Although the crispy fish tacos were good, we didn't order them, we ordered the pork belly tacos. Also, the menu has 2 sides, you shouldn't have to remind to the bartender about that, but the one we had on friday had tunnel vision, and forgot a couple things on the back, like sides and dessert. Can't remember their name, but generally give them a pass and only mention names of those with great service anyway. Probs not fair with the post post climate after "Covid", and the reality that any meal will cost at least 20$ per person. Managers can't afford crappy employees (because of crappy reviews), if there is a choice, lol. Anyway, besides the margarita that was just a double shot of simple syrup and triple sec, the missed dessert, and the wrong tacos, the food quality will def keep me coming back. Stopped in last night for a night to eat after some Christmas shopping in Raleigh. Joined the waitlist online and waited for about 10-15 minutes when we arrived. The service was wonderful the entire evening. We order an app and it never came but the server put a rush on it immediately once we told her and it was out within a few minutes. The tacos were all delicious and about 2-3 bites each so we ordered about 4-5 per person. All full of flavor and delicious with the jalapeño sauce at the table. Drinks were fresh and tasty as well. I was extremely excited for this visit. My coworkers and I were celebrating a few achievements and I had raved about the drinks and food. The food was great along with the drinks! This was possibly the best carne asada tacos I had had from this location. Unfortunately, our service started off great; the server seemed engaged and welcoming. Our server (Sophie) was very attentive to another one of her tables, which was also a "larger party" ~about 10 people. After taking our drink/food order we received our food and drinks and after some time she came back and I asked for limes (again), paper towels, napkins, and straws and in the midst of asking for these items she turned away and walked off, leaving everyone slightly confused. Afterwards, the manager came to our table with what seemed to be a normal check in and up to this point every thing was ok. When the manager left, Sophie approached me while sitting and said "Is there a problem?" in an aggressive tone. I communicated that there was no issue but it seemed to be one with how she approached the table and by her walking off in the middle of me letting her know what the table had asked to. We spoke with the manager after and I'm not sure if she was our new waitress but we didn't receive much assistance after other than to clean the table and hand out checks. I judge, I compare, and I have high expectations. And let me tell you--I loved these tacos. I had the chicken and mushroom, and both were packed with flavor and just bougie enough to make you feel like you're eating tacos that do Pilates. My only critique? The tortillas were kinda basic. But don't let that stop you--because everything wrapped inside? Absolutely not basic. It was fresh, flavorful, and extra in all the right ways. Last night was our traditional Friday family dinner--something we look forward to each week as we rotate and try new places. We recognize dining out is a luxury, especially these days, which made this experience even more disappointing. We joined the waitlist promptly at 5:00 PM, arrived at 5:20, and were told it would be about a 20-minute wait. After walking around, we returned at 5:40, waited another 10 minutes, and checked back in--only to be told it would be another 10 minutes because our waitress hadn't arrived yet. This was confusing, especially since bartaco operates as a largely contact-free restaurant where you can order via QR code or minimal server interaction. While waiting, another customer cut in front of me and demanded to be seated. There was no acknowledgment or apology from the staff, which set the tone early. We were finally seated just after 6:00. Our server briefly stopped by, offered to take drink and food orders, and we started with drinks and a starter. Our drinks arrived about 15 minutes later--but the server never returned to take our order. We eventually used the Dragonfly card to signal we were ready. A manager came over and told us to order through the QR code instead. No problem--we placed an order for 9-tacos, corn, a kids' quesadilla platter. At this point, we were already 30+ minutes into the experience--with no starter and empty drinks. The timing of food was completely off: * Kids' meal arrived first (and was finished before anything else came) * Corn came next * Then tacos * Finally, the starter arrived last By then, we were about an hour in. We ordered additional drinks, which arrived 15 minutes later--and were incorrect. We notified staff, but nothing happened. After raising the Dragonfly card again and waiting, the server said she'd check--then disappeared. The pattern continued: long waits, incorrect items (including dessert), and repeated attempts to get attention. To summarize: * Nearly 2 hours total from check-in to leaving * Multiple incorrect items (including drinks and dessert) * Poor timing of food delivery * Minimal and ineffective service * Charged for incorrect items While a manager eventually said they would credit the mistakes, there was little urgency or ownership throughout the evening. The food itself was fresh and flavorful--but unfortunately, the overall experience completely overshadowed it. The system bartaco uses may work well on smoother nights, but it failed across the board during our visit--from host stand to bar to kitchen coordination. Dining out is a luxury for our family, and this is not an experience we would want to repeat. Update: Still waiting for that refund on incorrect beverages and food. read more

There was a short wait on a Friday night which is always a plus. It's got an industrial South American feel with fantastic decor. The bathrooms were clean. (IYKYK) Our server Emma did a fantastic job all the was around, including consulting the kitchen regarding my allergy. The guacamole was obviously fresh plus it flavorful and chunky. I'm not a fan of the tortillas that came with the guacamole because they weren't cut before they were cooked so it was challenging getting it on the flat chips. My mom enjoyed the fish, chicken verde, pork belly, and shrimp, all on lettuce wraps. I had the chicken verde which I also enjoyed. The asada was a little tough. While recently in the area we stopped in for dinner. It was around 8 pm on a Saturday so it was pretty busy but we were able to get seated after a short wait. Our server was super friendly and explained the menu to us. We got the taco teaser as an appetizer and loved it! It was the perfect combination of flavors and was a good way to sample a lot of their appetizers. The plantains had this nice crispy outter coating and this creamy sauce to dip them in. The equites were good put pretty standard. We got a bunch of different tacos and shared them to try a little bit of everything. My favorite was the shrimp taco. It had a nice kind of spicy sauce on it with some slaw. They were all pretty good. My boyfriend said his favorite was the fish taco. I think this would be the perfect place to go out for drinks and tacos with friends. The drinks were really good too! I got the bartaco margarita and loved it! Shout out to bartender Zane for great food tips and conversation. Very easy, crowd-pleasing restaurant for sure. Health inspector alert! Well this was my first and last time here. Sat at the bar, music was blasting to the point my watch notified me of the loudness. Service was bad. I ordered a margarita which was disappointing and wound up "CHOKING" on the bartender's hair that was in my water. I looked like a cat coughing up a fur ball it was so long and gross. My husband and I came here on a Friday night, and we only had a short wait before being seated. You can order with the QR code at the table or with a paper menu. This was one of my biggest gripes about this place. If I'm going to a sit down restaurant, I don't want to fill something out to order whether that be on my phone or a paper. Just have the server take my order. We filled out the paper. The paper menu doesn't describe what is on the tacos at all, so I had to ask and make sure they left off some stuff I didn't want. I got a pork belly taco and the sesame ribeye. We also got the street corn and duck birria. The duck birria was probably my favorite item I ate. It had a nice kick and was very flavorful. The tacos were good, but they were small. They say that it is served family style, which doesn't really make sense to me for tacos. However, if you're going to do that, make sure the servers know which tacos are which. You don't have one server for your table and instead have various people stopping by. The lady who brought us our food was very confused and had trouble telling us which tacos were which. Additionally, we both ordered drinks and had to be carded when we ordered them and again when they were brought to us. This seems unnecessary and was annoying. This place was a great vibe! We had to wait a little for a table but were able to sit at the bar until then. Once seated, they gave us the choice of ordering with a waiter or scanning the QR code and ordering on our phone which was convenient. Everything was really flavorful and satisfying! It's been a while since I've written a review on Yelp, mostly because I have Celiac and once I've found a good 5 or 6 restaurants, I have just stuck with them to preserve my health. That said, I was in Raleigh for a weekend and wasn't feeling my usual options, and I love tacos, so decided to give it a go. --Food: I ordered delivery twice and ate in once. I ordered a crispy shrimp taco kit and a chorizo taco kit the first night and was blown away at how flavorful everything was. Having Celiac, eating Fried food is almost impossible, but their entire menu minus quesadillas and desserts are gluten free, and you couldn't tell. The shrimp had an amazing crispy corn breading and the slaw was super flavorful. I think the Chorizo was my favorite with a great spice and made it into my second take out order along with Baja Fish. The Baja fish was so crispy as well, a little spicy, and the lemon slaw amazing. Flavorwise, for sure 5/5 for all of them. If you eat in, you can order just one taco (you can't do this take out, you can only order 4 or 8 pack tacos), so I tried most of the ones I hadn't tried. The duck was good, but perhaps my least favorite of the lot. Still excellent though. Lobster, while tasty, was confusing as a taco filling (and a bit expensive, but it's lobster so yeah.) I really liked the Pork Belly and was way crispier than expected. The shrimp and chorizo tacos still probably my favorite, but it's fun to have a myriad of tacos to choose from. If someone is looking for advice on how many to get, I say probably 4 (or more!), even if you usually can't eat more than 2 or 3 tacos. I say this because they're not normal corn tortillas, they are small and are 2/3 bite tacos. They also have rice bowls, which I meant to try, but was too obsessed with their tacos that I never got around to it! --Price: A little on the pricier side, but it's upscale cuisine I feel. The lobster taco was $8, but the rest were around $4 a taco I think. For something so delicious *and* safe for me to eat though, I would (and did!) happily pay it. --Service: Everyone is super helpful, super nice, and inviting. --Environment: Feels a bit upscale in a really fancy shopping area. Parking was difficult, but I'm not a fan of those kind of complexes. If I go to Raleigh again I'm tipping even more for delivery because for someone not great at driving, it's difficult. Very nice area though. --Overall: Hmmm... Probably my new favorite restaurant. It might not be the most cost efficient, I can't vouch for group orders, and I haven't tried the non taco items, but I absolutely loved everything I ordered. I love bartaco after having been to other locations, so knew I would like this one as well while I was here for a work trip. Consistent, great quality across locations, friendly service, and fun, energetic vibes. This location can get busy (came on a Thursday evening and waiting 30 mins to be seated for two people) but luckily it's in a nice area to walk around so we were able to kill time until our table was ready. Favorite part of this chain will always be that you can order single tacos and diff kinds instead of having to do 3 or two of the same kind like at other taco spots-- I love that flexibility. The staff all work together to ensure that your dining experience is a pleasant one. The managers come around to make sure that their customers are not only satisfied but also happy with everything. I had a bowl of Chicken Tortilla Soup and it was delicious. It was very hardy and filled with chicken. I also had 2 chicken verde tacos and I enjoyed them very much. We stumbled upon here after the movies and decided to give it a try. All the tacos are a la carte, which is great because you now have a variety of options to try. There's not much descriptions for each taco except the protein. Everything seems precooked as they come out very quickly. We tried the fried fish, pork belly, duck, grilled shrimp. The fried fish was hard. Seems as if it was cooked and stored under a warmer. Pork belly was flavorful and so was the duck. The grilled shrimp was spicy! Overall it was a nice experience.
