This Barros location ALWAYS disappoints! Save yourself the time & energy - go to another location. My boyfriend and I came to this Barros location a couple months ago. We ordered and were told it would be 15 or 20 minutes. 30 minutes later we checked on our order and discovered that it had not been put in! During the 30 minutes of us waiting the staff was being incredibly loud and messing around / joking around basically not paying attention to their job obviously. I spoke to the manager and he was kind enough to comp our food. Well tonight we decided to give this location one last chance. I placed our order online. We came to pick up the pizza 35 minutes later (this is when the order was supposed to be ready). When we showed up we were asked if we placed the order online. I told her yes & she repeated the order back to me - which was correct. She went to the back to grab our order and came back to tell us they lost our order. Ugh! I spoke with a manager and she said she wasn't sure how they lost our order but they would take care of our meal for tonight. I appreciated it a lot but the fact is that the 2 times we have been to this location they have really messed up our order. So when we finally did get our order I checked it and it was not correct. We brought it back to the register & asked for it to be fixed. We walked into Barros at 8:43pm and what should have taken 5 minutes took over half an hour. I've been eating at Barro's for most of my life. Im a long, LONG-time customer. If that wasn't the case, this would hands-down be a 1-star review. I ordered pizza and wings tonight. Nothing complicated. At 6:00 pm I called in and was told delivery would take almost 90 minutes, but pickup would just be 30. I opted for pickup. Upon arrival 25 minutes later, wife and 2-year-old son in tow, I paid and sat down to wait "just a couple more minutes while we finish it up." I sat there without being addressed for 30 minutes. The moment I stood up to say something, I was approached by a manager (I assume) who had a receipt in hand for me with 30% off my bill. He explains my pizza got stuck in the oven and they had to remake it. It will be 10 more minutes. My son has been sitting in the car now for 40 minutes since I left my home. 20 minutes later, I am approached by the same manager who tells me, I kid you not, that the pizza is stuck in the oven again and will need to be remade. He would like to comp my meal and deliver it to my house. I express my doubts that this will be done in a timely manner, but he insists it will be, and he will do it himself. Credit to him, he did arrive at my house 20 minutes later with a fresh pizza, some extra ranch, and a bottle of Mountain Dew for my trouble. Alas, he forgot the wings I ordered. I immediately call back to the store, where the young woman who answers the phone gives me a chortle before saying someone will be bringing the wings. It is now over two hours post-order and I do not have the wings, nor any hope of receiving them. As a side note, I heard three other people say something to the effect of their order being 30 minutes or more delayed while I was sitting in the waiting area. Good pizza. Open later than most restaurants in Phoenix. Found this place after searching for something open past 8 p.m. I ordered a small pizza and when it came out I was shocked at how big it was. Service was fast and the pizza looked and tasted great. After the waitress brought my pizza, I never saw her again. I had to go to the counter to request a to go box. It wasn't a bad experience by any means, just wish the waitress at least would've checked to make sure everything was ok. It was good pizza and I highly recommend it. It's not horrible, it's alright. Theres definitely better options around. I got the buffalo chicken pizza aka the wing pizza and it would taste a lot better if the chicken was shredded instead of sliced. You can tell this chicken is not made in house, the texture is kind of rough. You can't modify any of their specialty pizzas, which they only have like five, and it's super odd that they won't let you change out toppings or at least charge you extra for them. Two medium pizzas came out to $33. They don't really have any deals unless you get wings. 10 times better than Little Caesars but they got enough competition around, they need to change some stuff up read more

Love this chain. Wonderful, community-oriented place... kinda of a throwback (or maybe I just think that because I used to go to a Barro's in Mesa back in high school... in the [gulp] 90's)... This location is a regular on our family's dinner plans. We typically do delivery. It isn't Bianco or La Piazza, but it's very good pizza and a great value. They generally hire the best kids and actively support the community (schools, local teams, etc.). It sounds cheesy (no pun intended), but they really are a part of the community. Last night, we ordered delivery, like we so often do. And like each team, the deliver person was polite and professional. This time though, we had a little glitch. One of our pizzas wasn't in his bag. I can only imagine how awkward he felt. But he handled it extremely well. He delivered what he had, was polite and clear, and said he'd have to come back. With his very pleasant demeanor and all of our prior positive experiences with this location, we were truly OK with it - whether he came back or not. I mean, poop happens once in a while. As we ate, we took bets on whether he'd come back or if we might get a call and a coupon or a refund or something. After all, it's like a 15 minute round trip, so if there wasn't another delivery coincidentally in our area, it wouldn't make practical sense for them. About 20 minutes later, the doorbell rang. There he was with our pizza. Still polite and unshaken despite what must have been a pinch on a busy Friday night. It seems small - maybe even expected, but in this day and age, that small of integrity seems sadly rare. In a world where social media shaming seems to be the only customer recourse anymore, to have a business that takes responsibility when something happens and make it right as a normal course of business is something to be appreciated. read more

We used to order from here at least a few times a month. I say used to because they got the last of our business this afternoon. We had been issued a credit for wings due to our order being done incorrectly from the last time we grabbed dinner from this location. No fuss was made, just a quick phone call to inform them of the error and with no complications, a credit was offered. Today, however, my wife got to spend far longer than she should have had to in trying to redeem this credit along with our order. After pretty much being called a liar and treated terribly by the manager, he then refused to honor the credit. He was rude and unprofessional in just about every conceivable way. A person like this has absolutely no business working with the general public in any capacity. No loss for us. I'm just as happy giving another pizza place our business. I wanted to like this place. I really did. My brothers love it and some of my friends. I just don't. I got the meat lovers pizza on one occasion, and most of it got thrown away. It felt really greasy and "bready" (the sensation one feels when the pizza seems to be made entirely of bread). If you like, LOVE gluten, I guess this is your place. Usually when I don't like the place I give it three stars, but the service wasn't great. The girl that took my order was twirling her hair as she took it and didn't seem to like being there. My brother (who loves this place) put in an order once and went to pick it up after waiting 20 minutes. When we arrived, they had him wait another 20 minutes or so. It was fairly evident that they forgot to make his pizza and were making it on the fly. After we got out, he said their service sucks, but the pizza was "totally worth it." Barro's has been our go-to pizza delivery choice for some time. They're close, which guarantees we get a hot pizza on our doorstep every time. They have never disappointed, very consistent. Their traditional crust (they offer a thin crust) is on the thicker side, but not too much. The crust is pillow-y and soft on the inside but crispy on the ends and bottom. Might be too much bread for some. Their red pizza sauce is uniquely special. It's not just there, it adds personality to the flavor. Tonight we ordered a few pies and some Buffalo chicken wings. First of all, everything was hot and fresh when it arrived. The wings were saucy but still nice and crispy. Their White Pizza, with ricotta, is one of the best white pies I have ever had. We also had a cheese only and a sausage and mushroom pie. They were equally cooked to perfection. No excess grease and perfectly cooked tops. I can only give this venue "5" fabulous stars. I grew up on Barro's Pizza and this particular location was one of my regularly top spots. It is amazing how the quality of this pizza after so many years has NEVER changed. It is amazing watching this company grow throughout the valley. Locations all over. You want thick pizza with a special sweet sauce that treats the taste buds. This is the place. I had a late night craving and brought a friend of mine from Boston to give it a try. Now as I mentioned she is from Boston and knows great pizza. Since you can find pizza joints at almost any corner. We split a medium pizza and 12 Honey Hot Wings. She was in love. Barro's cooks their food fresh. You can tell only fresh ingredients are used because the quality of the pizza is amazing. The level of customer service is top notch as well. One of the managers who has worked there for years is very friendly not only to his patrons but his staff. Barro's has daily specials. You can go in for lunch and grab a slice with a drink. They also have a salad bar. This is a great location to take a team after a sporting game because it is inexpensive and taste great. read more

As far as food, pizza is great & I like the style of crust that they use. Not too tough, but not too thin (Im not a huge fan of cracker style). We usually get the classic pepperoni pizza & a side of breadsticks with cheese. This time we actually stopped in for a simple order of wings-- teriyaki & medium. Waited for 10 minutes while 4 counter girls stood behind the counter folding boxes, answering the occasional phone, and scrolling on their own cell phones, before a 5th girl came from the back to help the line that had formed. Was then told that my order was just being started and would be another 5-10 minutes. Okay. I sat down, waited, and watched as EVERY SINGLE person in the lobby was given their orders, including several that came in after me and placed to go orders. At 8:20 ( 10-15 minutes past the SECOND eta) I go to check on my order, but overhear the counter girl that helped me, whom I tipped 30%, tell another girl that I needed to "chill out because my order was next". At 8:30 she finally brings out my ONE SMALL 3 TOPPING pizza. No apology or explanation for the wait, just "here". Having worked for THREE YEARS at a Barros far busier than this location, waiting 1 1/2 hours for a small pizza that was promised in 25 minutes is absolutely unacceptable. There was never more than 10 people waiting at once, the phones were barely ringing, and the staff had plenty of time to refill their drinks, check their phones, and chat with each other. Not once did an employee or manager attempt to calm any of the angry customers, give any explanations, apologize, or seem at all to care. I personally have worked every role at the Barros I worked at, from counter to cook to dishes and busing. From that experience I can tell you there is absolutely no excuse for the service (or lack thereof) at this location. I realize me saying I will NEVER come to this location again doesn't do much, but hopefully the rest of you won't waste your time or money here. Literally any other location can do better. read more

I have had issues of Inconsistencies since I first ordered from these folk. Good vs. bad...bad and awful ALWAYS won! Recently I had a VERY grossly botched delivery and called to complain. Order was tossed and a replacement was ordered a few days later. The gal who answered the phone was a rude monster (choice words NOT allowed here) and made a simple transaction an undeniable attack on my person! I am only reviewing this location as the other locations are hit and miss. The one on Tatum and Dynamite was bad both times we went there. So, I go out of my way for this Barro's Pizza. The decor is similar to all locations. Very drab and not very comfortable. But, we are talking about a pizza joint, so they will get a pass on the decor. I had a mini Hawaiian pizza on my last trip and was delicious! The crust was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The sauce was tasty and the perfect amount. I ate every bit of it with no crust leftovers. That was how outstanding it was. I am surprised that the consistency between locations is such a wild swing from outstanding to mediocre at best. The meatballs I ordered were a bit under seasoned but were of decent quality and served with lots of cheese and adequate if also under seasoned sauce. The salad bar was small and uninspired. However, earlier today I went in with my girlfriend and noticed a pile of dough hanging from the table, a solid 3-5 individual dough circles I guess you could say, fell into the trash and or recycle. One of my favorite pizza spots since I was about 11 years old in Cave Creek. Me and my buddy would skateboard down to Barro's, grab slice and continue in our adventures. Brings back lots of feels. I have always been partial to Barro's as I went to school with Michael; Hey Mike!! Long time ago but it was cool to see a family business flourish and now there is one right by my house as a "grown-up". The service is fast and the price is good. I have a weird combo, but man is it good. Pineapple, ham and bacon. We went to Spinato's about 3-4 weeks ago and it was just crap. Left unhappy with an $80 bill. Go to Barro's and spend $26 and leave happy and full, with extra pizza. So there's and obvious decision, made easier. read more

I really hate to do this, but I've been holding out on this review for a while in hopes that my gradual decline of my experience were just a series of one offs. I will preface the review with this...I pretty much only order the buffalo chicken pizza because it is/was my favorite. First they stopped sending ranch to me with my hot wing pizza. Sounds petty to complain about, but are you ever charged extra for ranch when you order wings? Didn't think so. I'm not a poor man by any means but to me, its not the price, its the principle. Now I ha.ve to specifically order ranch. I am now charged .50 for a side of ranch. sigh. Next they started skimping on the buffalo wing sauce. I mean it was just bread and cheese with a dabble of the hot wing sauce on it. Its not a hot wing pizza without hot wing sauce. So now I have to start ordering the pizza with a little extra sauce. No biggy, maybe I'm picky? Maybe I'm the jackass customer here... because I have to specifically order extra things on the pizza. Again, price is of no concern, just make make me a good pie and I'll happily enjoy it. I have a feeling I'm now known as the peice of shit sauce guy I order the pizza as usual but now I have to add in a little extra buffalo sauce, and a side of ranch (with no hint they were lackluster the last times). I get this monstrosity delivered to me with so much damn sauce on it, I feel like it was done out of spite. Hell, half the pizza slid off the damn crust, which was also kinda half way between regular crust and thing crust. "Oh, you want a well done steak? I'll give you a well done steak..." The only reason I'm giving this one more star on top of the minimum requirement is because the young guy who delivered the pizza got here damn fast and was a nice guy, also the gal taking my order on the phone was nice too. Friday night delivery, under an hour and the pizza and wings were fire. Got the mild wings (because kids) but they were still very tasty.
