    Barrio Guacamole
    Jasmine D.

A quick lunch spot with the team while traveling. Located in a shopping plaza so there was plenty of parking available and no wait when we visited. Service was quick and they made the guac table side. The guac was advertised as being featured on food network. If I am being honest... this is probably one of the most underwhelming guac I've had, especially at a restaurant. There really was no seasoning and the pomegranate seeds were an interesting addition. I really enjoyed the Birria enchiladas and the chocolate churros were good as well. My coworker did not enjoy their protein bowl and I wasn't a fan of the mango Fresca. I would come back, but would probably only order the birria enchiladas next time.

Save yourself the disappointment... Just eat somewhere else! We came in to celebrate our 3 year wedding anniversary. Violet, our waitress, was terrible. We both got the margarita flight- this was the best part of the whole evening. I was grateful for the flight because my glass of water went empty within a few minutes and never got offered a refill. I would have asked for a refill, but that would require our waitress stopping by our table. The chips & salsa were pretty good. The salsa did not have much flavor. The chips were thin and crispy (my favorite way). We got the Mexican street corn appetizer, it was pretty good! Especially mixed with some salsa & paired with a chip! For the entree - I chose the chicken enchilada. My husband also got the enchilada, but asked for no chicken, only cheese. When the food arrived, my husband noticed that the inside of his enchiladas were completely bare. It was just an empty tortilla. *I wish that I was joking* We flagged down our waitress to let her know & she went to the kitchen to ask for a new batch, made as ordered. After about 10 minutes it came out correctly. The table we were seated at was so small & nobody was coming around to pick up empty plates... so as soon as the correct enchilada plate for my husband arrives, he spills his margarita all over the table trying to make room. ‍ Personally, I did not like the chicken enchilada. The chicken was decent, but there was just not much flavor..... &The rice and beans were flavorless. Then, we got to choose between Flan & Churros for dessert. I wanted Flan, but apparently it was out of stock... So we opted for churros. The churros were supposed to come with Mexican chocolate sauce, cajeta, pecans, strawberries, and a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.. Our dessert shows up... 2 churros, a scoop of ice cream... &You probably already guessed it... NO Mexican chocolate sauce, cajeta, pecans, OR strawberries... Yet again, we have to flag down the man who brought out the dessert and ask where the rest of the dessert is at..... The guy had an attitude about it, his response was... "I'll get you the stuff." Like it was an inconvenience to him... We wait about 5 minutes, the ice cream on our plates is nearly melted at this point... This whole experience was a nightmare. When our bill came, it was $90. Definitely not worth it whatsoever. My biggest regret is choosing Barrio Queen for our anniversary dinner. Absolutely terrible service, crappy food. I will N E V E R be back.

Such a cool place! We even watch the first half of the Seahawks game here during there happy hour. Good foods and portions on the happy hour menu! It was very filling. Our waitress was nice. I'm not sure how to spell her name but she was great and made sure anything we asked for was taken care of.

This review is long overdue but hubby and I dined here about 2 years ago and I thought the food was really tasty! We did have to wait a little for a table as they were packed, but it was worth the wait. I think we had ordered their specials of the day because I can't find the dishes on their current menu, but we got a fish entree and it came with some delicious green sauce over rice and vegetables, and also one of their tamales. Both were really good.

This spot was recommended by our hotel and it was just okay. I came with a group who were told this would be authentic Mexican food. That wasn't the experience we had. The food was good, but nothing to write home about. The restaurant quickly accommodated a table for 15 and the service was relatively quick. I ordered the veggie enchiladas with spinach, goat cheese, and crema with rice and beans. The enchiladas were a disappointment as it was just cheese. I never tasted or saw any spinach. The vibe is very chill inside with beautiful decor and creativity. Worth checking out if you like tex mex or fast casual Mexican food.

3.5/5 Dined here recently for dinner as a large party on the patio outside. Some of the chairs had bird droppings on them on both the backs and the seats which doesn't inspire me to want to dine on the patio again if the chairs aren't cleaned regularly. We had the guacamole to start with and I ordered the chicken mole enchiladas. The guacamole is prepared in front of you and athough there is cilantro in it (cilantro is my food enemy), it's mixed up enough that I didn't really notice the taste of it too much. Would I pay $16+ for it in the future? Probably not but it did taste pretty good. Honestly, guacamole isn't that hard to make at home so it wouldn't be worth the price point for me. The chicken mole enchiladas were well prepared and exactly as advertised. I requested them with no cilantro and they were happy to oblige. I had two of the enchiladas before getting a little tired of the taste of the mole so got the rest to go. The rice and beans that came with it were well prepared. Service was very friendly but was slow to get us things we needed. We had to remind the server about food and other items. I think they were short staffed that day so I think that was the cause for some of the lag in service.

We wanted to enjoy this great weather while it lasts so we chose to eat at the patio at Bario Queen Tempe marketplace. This is one of our regular hangout spots that we frequent and one might think that 5-stars may be a little over the top for a local chain restaurant located in an outdoor mall. Bario Queen Tempe deserves the 5 stars for being consistently consistent at delivering great all around experience time and time again. The staff were warm and welcoming. The food was fantastic and fresh. The table side guacamole with pomegranate is a MUST TRY! We tried a variety of Tacos and the Cochinita pibil. All were delicious and flavorful. The service was excellent and the patio was comfortable with ample shade provided by large umbrellas. It is so important to have repeated, good experiences at the same place! Great job Bario team! Keep it up!

OMG! The food was delicious and fresh! My family and I just moved out here from LA and we have been looking for a good Mexican food spot in the area. Let me tell you... not only was the food fresh, but it was decently priced and the drinks and food on the happy hour menu were *chefs kiss*. Please ask for Edgar. He was amazing! He provided great service , was super attentive and friendly, and made some excellent recommendations. Overall, great place to eat at especially for happy hour. We got quite a few shots and our bill did not disappoint. Again, ask for Edgar cause he was amazing! He'll definitely be seeing us here again. The ambiance was great as well. We came here during a World Cup game (Mexico vs Korea) and it was a nice environment. We were able to watch the game while eating.

I've tried Barrio Queen once before at the Phoenix location and wasn't very impressed, so I wasn't sure what to expect this time. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing back then or maybe this Tempe location is just better because dinner was delicious. The chips and salsa were great, and the salsa had a nice kick. My steak tacos were packed with flavor and loaded with meat. My drink was also really good... strong, and fruity. Even though Tempe Marketplace was packed on a Sunday night, the restaurant itself wasn't too busy, and our server was attentive. I'd definitely come back!

Been craving a shrimp taco, and noticed this location listed on Yelp's list of shrimp tacos in Tempe as I was in the area for my hair appointment. For a Sunday evening, they weren't too busy and I was seated immediately. It did take some time for my server to greet me, but I think they only had one server on for both inside and the patio. I wasn't too fussed as it gave me time to check out the menu as it was my first time to this chain of restaurants. Plus, I enjoyed looking at the decor as the restaurant is well decorated with sugar skulls. When my tacos (camarón asado and pescado asado) arrived with my sides (calabacitas and rice), I had no silverware and had to wait about ten minutes for my server to return to ask. I tried to overlook and chalk it off to being split between too many tables, but it also took over 10 minutes for a box when I requested. When the check arrived, I wasn't sure if you pay at the table or up front, so after about 5-10 minutes of my card sitting on the receipt, I went up front. Awkwardly found out you do in fact pay at the table and the server said they were busy cashing out a table on the patio. Always feel bad, but I had waited long enough to doubt where you pay. If the food is stellar, I can overlook the service being a little less than par due to staffing. Sadly, I didn't find anything special about either taco. I ended up getting Rubio's the next day and preferred theirs. Though, I'll say the chips and salsa were delicious. Perhaps I'll try again in the future as it could be an off night, and I've heard friends say they like this chain.

Indoor / outdoor seating. Location convenient with lots in the area. Food was just eh. Tableside guac was good and salsa good. Menu is not the friendliest to navigate. The entrees were lack luster for taste. Service was just okay... sat outside and it was near closing time ? Overall it's just okay

We were in the area visiting and stopped by this area to check it out and do some shopping. Decided to have lunch & dropped by with our friends and our kids. We were promptly seated after entering and the restaurant was bright & decor was nice. The waiter was helpful & able to answer our questions and accommodate our requests. We ordered bean and cheese burrito with fries, chicken tacos with rice and chicken tenders with fries for the kids. It all comes with a drink & dessert! (Such a treat for the little ones). For the adults we had the combination fajitas, which comes with steak, shrimp and chicken on top of all the peppers and onions. It also had a side of rice & beans and tortillas. Such great flavors and very tasty. Our friends had their tacos and also enjoyed it. We also had drinks and shots and this place definitely nailed all the drinks. You can actually taste the alcohol in it and it wasn't watered down at all. The staff were super friendly and helpful & we enjoyed talking to them. Definitely will be back when in the area again. It was a great experience for us.

Came here in a Sunday night and it was good. Lots of art, lots of people, and a great bar for cocktails. The food was good, got the carne asada plate. It comes out on a hot skillet so be careful you don't burn yourself. The asada was delicious and the rice was good. The prices are a bit high but maybe that's just the times now...
