I've had the queso birria tacos with consomé twice now and each time they hit. No disappointment. I've been wanting to try the birria ramen too, but with how hot it's been, soup just doesn't sound good. Once it cools down, I'll be back for it. I also saw some girls walking out with loaded Doritos and some kind of agua fresca en jarro and they looked fire. The menu has a lot of stuff I still want to try. Like the birra ramen but when it's over 100°. It's hard to want that, so maybe when it cools down . Max is the best. Super friendly, knows what he's talking about, and really looks out. Appreciate good service like that. The inside is colorful, clean, and welcoming. If I had one critique, it would be the high prices. Birria typically standard comes with the consumé but not at this tacos spot. You shouldn't have to pay for that separate. The queso Bierria tacos are delicious but small and very pricey. Enough that I probably won't come AS often as I would like to. Still, I'll definitely be back. Especially cuz Max gives great service.

Stopped by on Taco Tuesday for $2 street tacos. The $2 was misleading for the carne asada street tacos , as they were $2.50 each and this is not advertised. You cannot get the $2 price ordering online, or even on the kiosk at the restaurant; you have to order with the cashier. Still, we got 12 tacos for $25 so that's a great deal! We tried carne asada, al pastor, birria, and chicken. The street tacos are slightly smaller than your average taco; I had 4 and thought that would be too many but honestly I could have eaten another one #bigback. They come dressed with onion and cilantro. My favorite was the pastor, then birria, carne asada, and chicken. There is no salsa bar; they bag up your order with the salsa and limes. They gave us 3 salsas for the whole order but didn't hesitate to give us extra when we asked. The red salsa is SPICY so we probably could have done 3 for our whole order. (2/5 Stars) This was my first time trying this taco spot. The location is nice and convenient, but unfortunately the food didn't live up to the price. The tacos were overpriced for what you get, and there was very little meat inside them. For the amount you're paying, I expected much better portions and overall value. Customer service could also use some improvement, although my main concern was the food itself. When you're paying premium prices, you expect quality and quantity to match, and that just wasn't my experience here. There are plenty of other taco spots that give you more food and better value for your money. Sadly, what was supposed to be my first visit will probably be my last. If you're willing to pay higher prices for smaller portions, you may feel differently, but it wasn't worth it for me. read more

I went here yesterday, got their 3 taco combo (2 carne asada & 1 birria) with the juice on the side, & a horchata. Everything was delicious but the birria taco was the best I've had, their tortillas are homemade, meat melts in your mouth with the crispy edges dipped into the juice. It's clean, but the food there is mediocre at best. We ordered nachos. It came with fake cheese and the chips were soggy. The Carne Asada tasted like chicken. Definitely not the best nachos I've ever had in my life. For how much they charge and the portion sizes I'd definitely expect better quality food. read more

Don't waste your money here... I saw this place open up nearby and was hoping it would be good, but super disappointing overall. Carne asada and chicken were both hard and seemed like it was old. Extremely dry. Seemed like fake cheese as well? At least the beans and rice were okay. My wife tried the gimmicky Raman and birria taco combo. Raman was tapatio top ramen. Birria was extremely greasy and practically inedible. Worst $20 meal I've seen. The staff were nice but not enough to make up for the bad food. read more

If you're in Tempe, you have to give this spot a try. Everything on the menu is super good. I had the Doritos asada was fire. Get the surf and turf with it and enjoy. Actually second time eating here in less than 24 hrs. Give it a shot, it won't disappoint!! read more

I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. The Las Vegas roll was always nice and warm but with an awesome cold center and fried to perfection and the sauce just right. Lately it's been the opposite. Super over fried were all you can taste is old burnt oil and it dried out and the sauce just bland and not helping at all. The other thing that bothers us is the lack of wasabi they give! If you're not going to give us full flavor, at least give more wasabi to help mask. I will say they give you plenty of soy sauce packets (just barely any wasabi).

Horchata ($4.64) was good and refreshing. It had lots of cinnamon on the bottom so definitely needed a good stir prior to drinking. It was very sweet but definitely one of the better Horchatas I've had since it didn't taste artificial. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely return and recommend!

They were also out of the Melted Cast-Iron Brie Small Plate that we were excited about ordering for the table. We loved this restaurant because of the dark and jungle-themed interior. We were excited to see the bold taxidermy featuring the large cats combined with the ornate, gold- framed dapper animal art hanging on the walls. Another reason to love this spot: hidden inside is an entrance to a secret cocktail lounge, or speakeasy, called "Drop Dead Gorgeous." We also appreciated the entire restaurant centering around a glowing, raw wood-fire cooking pit. We could hear and watch our entrées being prepared. What we didn't love so much: the items that we would've liked to have ordered were unavailable. The price to portion ratio in the small bites could also be improved a bit. It was very delicious and it comes out as an adorable little tomato shaped and colored milk bread with the toppings looking like the stem on top. So tasty and everybody loved it. A little small for our party of five. - Lemongrass Half Chicken (5/5) - Caramelized carrots, kyoto roasted garlic, mashed potatoes & jalapeno jam. Hubs loved this. He said everything was delicious and went well together. - Bomba Rice x2 (5/5) - Risotto, shrimp, linguica, chicken, piquillo peppers, green peas, kosher aioli & Parmesan. YUMMMM What a creative and unique salad! So glad I tried it. It has unique flavors that work well with each other and a crunch. There's also some heat that goes along with the salad. I was able to withstand it. My son would probably say it's not spicy at all. I'll be craving this salad for months to come. - Dad or Daddy Specialty Cocktail - bright, buzzed & stoned vodka, apricot liqueur, Riesling cordial, ginger, lime, topped with Red Bull Peach Edition (White Peach) - Fruity Mocktail - I asked the waitress if they had any mocktails and she asked me what I liked and gave me examples.
