So I was very confused when I was looking places for "huge burrito" because there are 2 listings for El Paisano and both are close to each other. I followed Tesla and it took me to the location on Apache so I was first (again) confused bc there is no parking but since it was Sunday I just parked in the red while I went in quickly to order. It's a very nice, clean liquor/ convenience store/ quick Mexican bite spot. I just for the El Paisano steak burrito with everything in it. I was very surprised, for the price ($17) it was a big burrito and I enjoyed all the flavors of the toppings in it, I've never had banana peppers in my burrito before! But mostly THE STEAK is actually super delicious. Like, I think from now on I'll just get a side of the steak by itself. Nowadays I feel like the protein is what sets places apart. It was We received service from Manuel, and he was amazing so patient and welcoming, especially since it was our first time at El Paisano. The menu has a great variety. I ordered the fish taco, shrimp taco, and two carne asada tacos, and everything was delicious and very generous in portion size. My daughter got the birria tacos, which came with consommé on the side such a nice touch. I also loved that they offer toppings so you can customize everything to your liking. I have been craving Carne Asada fries and we looked everywhere that was open late and ran across this place!! We drove 45 minutes in hope that is would be delicious and it was!! When you walk in you are greeted by the nicest employees ever! The menu is huge and has something everyone would like. My wife got to birria tacos and the meet is very tender and flavorful but a little different texture than traditional birria. I got the carne asada fries and you basically tell them how much of each item that you would want on the fries. The fries were amazing and the meat was flavorful as well. The asada was more of a ground beef texture; which was not what I expected but was still good. All of the toppings were very fresh, the restaurant was very clean and the prices were very affordable! They have a huge menu selection and a ton of seats. It is right off Mill so it is busy which is expected being downtown by a college. read more

California Burrito - everyone but this place knows this should include guacamole, so this is a fake California burrito. At 10 bucks, I'm not paying extra either. French Fries - were sitting in the basket, cold, greasy and limp. Chicken - was put on the grill, but not for long and ended up Luke warm in the burrito. Better than I expected. Since this place was open. After hours. I didn't have high expectations. But Lord have Mercy. They prove me wrong. Absolutely delicious. I can't describe how delicious this was. The meat was so tender and savory. The cashier was absolutely adorable. And Sweet. There was a gentleman there. Who was. I think Eric was absolutely sweet. So I would say this is a 10 out of 10. At least for my Experience. There was one girl that was there. No was a little darker skin who had a nasty attitude when he tried to involve her in a conversation we were having but other than that it's not gonna take away from the great experience. Pro-tip: Only street parking - don't bother driving up the parking garage nearby because it's all reserved for the apartment complexes nearby. Highlights: I cannot believe the value you get especially if you order the burrito bowl. They load it up so much and it's $10 for 2-3 meals. They have a lot of different things you can add into the bowl. Lowlights: You'll have to find street parking which is a pain at such a busy part of Tempe. I wasn't crazy about the way they prepared the meat. Prices have gone up since the pictures posted; bf reported the carne asada fries were $9.99. The single, small fish taco was $2.50. Still affordable, just a FYI. The carne asada fries were loaded with toppings, to be fair. The box could barely shut! However, the "carne asada" was massively disappointing; it was not true, grilled carne asada and resembled ground beef more closely; unseasoned ground beef. It was also the least topped topping. The red salsa tasted like Pace canned salsa; not spicy in the least, and not fresh. The spicy guacamole was included (not an extra charge) and was probably the best part about the carne asada fries. Order them if you are hungry, drunk, or care about quantity more than quality. The fish taco was on the smaller side of street tacos; it was no longer than my index finger. Albeit small, the fish was fresh (and dry). Overall I won't be frequenting El Paisano with the abundant options nearby. read more

came in after finding online. the restaurant is pretty small, but spacious. we ordered quickly at lunchtime on sunday. i ordered the Takis burrito with steak, cilantro, lettuce, jalapeno, and the medium and spicy salsa( no cheese, no queso). the burrito itself was massive, but lacking everything!!! maybe the queso makes it? the man that made my burrito said, "wow, thats going to be super spicy.....". NOPE, not spicy at all. the supposed super spicy green salsa was very watered down, no heat, really honestly no flavor at all. we tried the 4 salsas- one tasted like pizza sauce, the chunky green one was like a sweet green tomato sauce, and the rest watered down, no heat, no zip, no flavor; depressing!! my husbands fajitas were ok too. nothing to be wowed over, wont drive the 50 min to go back. oh ya, bring a plate with you too, because the burritos are messy, and all you git to eat it on is a foil. read more
