I was at Tempe Marketplace late on Saturday and decided to get takeout from here. I ordered the Barrio Bowl (basically a salad with rice, beans, and lettuce) and mini churros filled with caramel. So delicious! I loved the sauce on the bowl. Churros were delicious. Loved it. The young lady who brought it out to my car was kind and lovely. I would eat inside next time! read more

We were very fortunate to be sat in Jose's section. To say that we had a fantastic experience doesn't even begin to cover it. Jose took excellent care of our table. The food was excellent and our Table Side Quacamole (which is always yummy) was made even better by Jose and his personality. Will come back and hope I get sat in his section again. read more

Colorful decor. Great Mexican food and delicious margaritas. My favorite one is the Hibiscus Blueberry Margarita. Came in around 9:00pm and they close at 10:00pm on a Monday night. Wasn't busy at all. Ate inside because it's July and it was 106 degrees outside. read more

Jose Angel Q was my server and he was excellent. He made my experience top tier. I also ordered the Molcajete mixto and previously I think they had stopped doing that bc the last few times I had come and ordered it came on a plate but I was very happy to see that it was in the molcajete. It was delicious! I really enjoyed the atmosphere and I would come back and request Jose as my server. read more

There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession. Safe to say this place is officially a mandatory stop for me anytime I'm back in Phoenix now.

Super over fried were all you can taste is old burnt oil and it dried out and the sauce just bland and not helping at all. The other thing that bothers us is the lack of wasabi they give! If you're not going to give us full flavor, at least give more wasabi to help mask. I will say they give you plenty of soy sauce packets (just barely any wasabi).

I'm not sure where the half chicken went but this couldn't have been more than 4oz of chicken. It was dry, no flavor and the bean & rice were terrible. terrible. I can't believe it was $32 for what he received. Our other friend ordered the GRILLED SEA BASS $27. Mediterranean branzino, mole blanco, blistered peas. She said it was okay. Cooked well but not much flavor. I was really looking forward to checking out the Glenrosa but my first experience and opinion of the Glenrosa was just not great. Service and food very mediocre. Except the short rib. That was delicious.

I was thoroughly disappointed with my experience. The service was incredibly slow and unprofessional. Even before our party 6 was seated, they stated upfront they could not split checks. I've never experienced that disclaimer upfront, which seems uncalled for. Additionally, we waited an excessive amount of time for our orders to be taken and for our food to arrive. To make matters worse, the staff seemed indifferent to our concerns, and frankly, they weren't around to even check on us and refill our waters. I'm not sure if our server just had a bad start to the night and couldn't shake it off, but he had a pretty extreme attitude and was super short with any request we ask. After we walked up to the bar to get water, the bartender refused us a pitcher so we could fill our entire table on our own. After that, the server came over and ended up seemingly talking smack about our table, even one of our folks called him out and saying that's not nice to talk about your customers in front of them. Super unprofessional again! As for the food and drinks, they were severely overpriced. The portions were small, and the quality did not match the high prices. The molcajete mixto looks deceiving, as its tall amd has a big presentation, but the bottom is very shallow. The drinks were particularly disappointing; my cocktails were basic and lacked the flavors described on the menu. We even had to track down silverware and napkins and even managed to flag down a buser to help us. Giving a star for his service even though he wasn't assigned to our table. Even the hostess didn't even want to talk down silverware, as I was only able to find 2 rolled silverwares up front. She told me to go find our server. Overall, the experience did not live up to the hype, and I left feeling that I had paid far too much for what I received. I won't be returning and can not recommend Barrio Queen to others. read more

We've been loyal customers of Barrio Queen for years, but what happened during this visit was unacceptable. Leonardo, our server, was shockingly rude and completely unprofessional from the moment he approached our table. He didn't greet us, didn't smile, didn't say a full sentence the entire time. At one point, he literally threw the tortilla chips onto the table like we were an inconvenience. He made the guacamole with zero care or effort--it was obvious he didn't want to be there. When I asked for a drink, he cut me off mid-sentence and snapped, "We can't make that, cucumbers were recalled." No explanation, no courtesy--just complete disregard. My dad, who never complains at restaurants, was so put off that he couldn't even finish his meal. That says everything. Leonardo's attitude was hostile, dismissive, and completely ruined what should have been an enjoyable dinner. This behavior cannot be brushed off as someone "having a bad day." It needs to be addressed--immediately. read more

A truly unforgettable experience, thanks to Jose Angel! My family and I came in to celebrate our birthdays, and we were completely blown away by the service. From the moment we walked in, Jose Angel made us feel so welcome. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and just went above and beyond to make sure our night was special. Then, when it came time for the birthday celebration, Jose Angel did the most amazing thing--he sang to us in Spanish! It was such a thoughtful and personal touch that made the entire evening unforgettable. And I can't write this review without mentioning the food. The green pozole was absolutely to die for. Rich, flavorful, and just perfect. I can't recommend this place and Jose Angel enough. My recent visit to Barrio Queen was extremely disappointing due to an unsettling encounter with a back-of-house server. During our meal, he approached our table several times, verbally assaulting both my guest and me. At one point, he even said, "f**k you" to us in a completely unprovoked manner. He continued to pass by our table in a disturbing, almost intimidating way, which made the experience feel very uncomfortable. We asked to speak with a manager, hoping to address the situation, but unfortunately, no manager ever came to our table. This lack of support made the incident even more distressing. I recently dined at Barrio Queen and overall had a pretty good experience. The food was tasty and the service was top-notch. However, I was a bit disappointed with the Camarones Mojo De Ajo dish as the shrimp was unseasoned and flavorless. This is my go to dish and it's usually delicious, but when I bit into the shrimp I discovered it was completely bland, no flavor or seasoning of any kind. Protein must be seasoned properly, including seafood. Despite this minor setback, I would still recommend trying out other dishes on the menu as the rest of the food was superb. Typically, the atmosphere and friendly staff make for a good dining experience at Barrio Queen. read more

Hannah N and Laurence (the Manager) were OUTSTANDING! The service was tremendous! They were attentive when they needed to be but not hovering. We stayed for a pretty long time, having drinks, apps and then dessert and they watched from a distance to see what we need and then delivered!
