Very spacious and open brewery with a welcoming atmosphere. We sat at the bar, and our beer tender acknowledged us promptly, handed us the menus, and asked if we were ready to order. We needed a little more time to choose the right beer. My partner wanted a pilsner, but unfortunately they didn't have one available at the time, so we went with their famous Barrio Blonde. I've had Barrio Blonde on many occasions at other places, but this one tasted unusually bitter and a bit flat. It seemed like the beer may have gotten warm at some point and was later cooled again, affecting the flavor. We were hungry, so we ordered the patty melt. The burger was good, with a flavorful patty and perfectly toasted bread. The bathrooms were also very clean, which is always appreciated. Overall, service was friendly and attentive, but the beer quality this visit was disappointing.
*Lively atmosphere * Indoor/ outdoor seating available +Good for groups/ visitors etc * In addition to good brews, they also have cocktails for those who are not feeling a beer or who don't / can't drink beer *A pretty large sized menu for a brewery with gluten and vegan options upon request *Tried the Beer Sponges ( pretzels) and the name is suiting * Great customer service: attentive and friendly *Lots of parking available *Local and learned this was also employee owned (so cool!j
My friend and I go on taco Tuesday for the most amazing tacos, and sides. My only complaint is that I live on the east side and would like to have it closer.
It's been yrs since I've been here n I wanted to take my guest w me to get to know the brewery. I walk in and can seat yourself The server came right away to get our drink. N we ordered our food n we were very well taken care of. Place is old industrial building right across the railroad tracks. Lots of people coming n going . Had wings , cheeseburgers w fries n we tried the tortillas soup which was tasty w a little kick . I only wish it was more temperature hot . I really like my food hot to the table especially soup. Great place to have lots of different craft beers especially their own beers. We had tea since we had errands to run . Come ck this place out it's worth coming to enjoy indoor n outdoor seating . I when saw a dog water bowl ,
I went to lunch with a couple of customers who had apparently been there several times before and recommended we go for lunch. The place is large with ample seating both indoors and outdoors. The ambiance is somewhat loud as one would expect from a brewery. The service provided by Reyann was great, she was friendly and checked on us throughout our visit. I had a Caesar salad with chicken and left fully satisfied. The lettuce was fresh, the chicken tasty and the croutons were light and crunchy! All in all, a good business lunch.
This place was good! I was hungry and needed a beer and I got just that. Service is friendly. There are two sides of this place. When you walk up, going through the left door will be a more chill and quiet vibe. The main seating area is the door to your right. Both sides have tvs. Ordered the pub fish tacos. Tortillas were delicious. The batter was perfectly fried and there was plenty of toppings on it. The salsa that comes with it is delicious. Only thing I would have done different would maybe substitute the side of beans and cheese with something else. Those tasted canned. I ordered a flight of beer. They were cold. Blonde was solid. The raspberry golden ale tasted a bit like medicine... the red ale was a solid red ale and the nitro was smooth. Glad I came here.
I've heard of Barrio often by coworkers as it's a frequent after-work meetup spot near 1-10 for travelers in either direction. I had a random free afternoon and decided to check it out. Pretty interesting building there right on the train tracks. It's got a cool dive bar feel inside with a large beer and food menu, good variety there. I went with a flight to try a few - Mexican lager, Hefeweizen, razzberry, and a mocha Java stout (maybe messed up the names a bit, but you get the idea). The hefe was my favorite, and my husbands, too. The razzberry one was a close second, but I could have done without the other two, not my cup of tea but wanted to give them a try! I don't see Sonoran hot dogs on menus often and being new to Tucson, I've been super curious about them so that was my meal choice. DIVINE. It's hard to mess up a hot dog. But this was a really good hot dog. Would order again and again. The price was right as well - $7! We thought the entire menu was very reasonably priced, compared to others in the area offering similar varieties. My husband had a cheesesteak that he said was really good, he would also order it again. Overall, we had a solid experience. Good beer and good food. I do want to add that this isn't my first time attempting to visit Barrio - we tried once before but were blocked by the train. We tried to wait it out but didn't know how long it would be and gave up after about 15 minutes. Just kind of a bummer of a location for a place with good food and beer. I did see on their menu that they offer $1 off beer if you get stuck because of the train, that is a nice touch. But, there's no perks like that if you are on the other side. It looses a star for that.
Come food the food. The beer is just okay for this craft beer lover. But the food menu is great and should satisfy all in your crew. I enjoyed the tortilla soup and sandwich and others enjoyed the burgers and Mexican food. They have salads as well as veggie burgers. We always return to this place for a dinner whenever we visit Tucson.
Excellent place to watch the World Cup! Vast selection of local beer; the hop graffiti IPA and the mocha java stout were amazing! And the food was super good! Tons of screens and friendly service.
Great place to enjoy happy hour! Happy hour menu cost between $7-$10 and had a good variety of apps. The Mac n cheese with green chile was the star of the two items we tried. Portion sizes were great. Drinks were also good! They have quite a few TVs so a good spot to catch the game. Service was attentive.
Delicious lunch after walking around the street festival. I had the fish tacos. Very good. That salsa is spicy good. We tried the potato skins and they were very good as well. A little skimpy. Hubby had fry rub wings and delta red them very good with a good dry rub. We will be back.
Our hotel manager recommended Barrio Brewing. He said it was worth the 20 minute drive. He was right. It's a large place, not fancy by any means, but a nice, casual atmosphere. It was quite crowded but we were able to find a table. We started with spinach and artichoke dip. It was good, just a little different than we're used to. Our mixed drinks were also good. We split a Rueben sandwich which was delicious. The corned beef was extremely lean, which at so many places is not the case. There also was ample sauerkraut, another rare feature. Their own brewed beer selection was wide. I loved their porter and my wife enjoyed her light IPA. The service was very good, our server was friendly and outgoing. We'll be back!
Good place to stop after a TCC event. Stopped in after a Sun eve hockey game on the way home and the place was active, but not crowded, so prime parking was plentiful. The dinner crowd had just left or was leaving. We were looking for something light to eat since it was late for dinner and we also didn't want to be out late. We found 2 seats at the bar and were promptly served- nice. We quickly received two ice cold pints. Inside is dark and kinda divey, but it was nice for quiet conversations. Barrio has a nice selection of shareable appetizers, of note are the "Southwestern Egg Rolls". These are crispy, deep fried egg rolls with a chili, beans, cheese type Texican filling cut into small bites and served with a mild salsa dip. Definitely hit the spot. Also a hit were the bone-in chicken wings with the cilantro-tequila dip. There were about 10 wings in the order and came hot from the fryer. Not overly spicy. The combination of the two appetizers were just right to split as a light meal. Combined with the two beers, the total was $41, pre-tip.

Always a good choice for food, happy hour or just drinks (not just beer).. hidden off Toole only minutes from downtown.. this place is truly a hidden gem. I usually have a burger or sandwich with fries when I visit, but they have great salads and happy hour deals also.. wings, potato skins, chicken strips.. etc On my recent visit I had the black & blue burger .. Cajun spice with Gorgonzola.. first of all it's huge! The menu says it's spicy.. I didn't think so. I paired it with a salad .. even though I wanted the fries.. because they are delicious .. as are the onion rings or beer battered fries.. I also enjoy their barrio margarita with Tajín rim. They do also sell beer to-go. The hostess is waiting for you outside, she gets you seated right away.. inside, outside & bar seating available. Wait staff is friendly, I've never had a long wait for food or drinks. read more

Came for lunch w my parents on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed. Fortunately we found an inside table and it was perfect. The Barrio Blond was delicious and had the chicken tacos--super tasty. My dad has the French dip that he killed and mom had burger she loved. She got the french fries beer battered and that was the way to go. Great place too if you want to watch a game. Great outside patio too. Definitely recommend! Busy place and everyone was working hard and lots of food coming out out the kitchen. Keep up the great work everyone! read more
A gem if you're looking for some delicious local drafts. Definitely a hole in the wall in an industrial area, but brewery/restaurant is on point. The diversity of beers ranging from 5% ABV to 10% is great. They had a few sour beers available this time around. We went on a Wednesday and was pleasantly surprised by the wing special and the happy hour foods. The jalapeño wings are delicious!! No picture cause we dug right in. :) the service was great, our draft server was very knowledgeable and patient with us. Gave us a few tastes of the delicious beer. The lightening of the restaurant was on the dark side , but the cleanliness and ambiance is pretty laid back. Would definitely recommend! Wings and Cheese crisp was on point. read more

"Barrio" was the original Brewery of Tucson and changed the licensing to also have their second location at "Gentle Ben's" on University blvd where they also serve Barrio Beer. Barrio Blonde Ale and Rojo Red Ale are seen all over the state. The Nolan Porter has notes of: Humidor cigar smoke, licorice, dark chocolate milkshake and winter coats stuffed with tootsie roll candies in its pockets. The Santa Rita Jefeweizen has notes of: Banana cream pie and malty whispers with lemon budding into the conversation. I like to mix their Jefe with a Porter. Surprisingly their Sonoran Hot Dog for me is one of the best in Tucson! They sear the bread really well and the chipotle mayo pops! Located on the south eastern industrial side of Tucson with a clear view of the Santa Catalina mountains to the north, amazing patio views. Thanks to server "Mimi" for historical facts and being kind. "Barrio brewery" was stablished in 1991 touting itself as Arizonas first brewery while there was also "Electric Dave's Brewery" that started in a garage in 1988 but may not qualify the same way. "Arizona Brewing Company" opened as well back in 1933 but again may quality differently then todays "Barrios" standards. We all love you Barrio. read more

Hello Alana,…
Came here today and the service sucks. possibly, just possibly it could be they had a dog wash event to raise money for an animal shelter so it was pretty crowded; still after 20 minutes of sitting with my friends I went and got the menus. I got us water and my friend a beer at the bar. Took forever to put the order in and forever to even pay the bill! We considered walking out without paying the bill but we were disciplined enough to hang on. Anyway, the beer was decent and the vegetable Panini was very tasty. The veggie Panini came with a basil walnut pesto, eggplant that was grilled along with a piece of havarti cheese. Decent. I'll probably come back on another day as I have a great patio and a great vibe. Just looking for a better attentive service. read more

Solid 4 stars... I've had these beers around town but finally hit a chance to go to the source, and this joint was a hit! Started out with the coconut Porter, which is a seasonal, so I timed it right! Plenty of coconut flavor but not overpowering and all the goodness of a dark. For food we started out with the southwest eggrolls...smoky with the bean and corn chew...went well with ranch! Second round was the raspberry ale and the Ruben, and both were good! Crusty rye and house marinated meat made a great combo and went well with the light ale. My only compliant is the extra charge for extra dressing...c'mon man! Ambiance was sports bar brewpub, staff was exuberantly helpful, and prices were in line with expectation. I loved both beers so I'll be back fo sho, this joint makes the list! read more

We came here when my family was all in town. I'm not a beer drinker, but my kids all tried some of the different beers and enjoyed all of them. They also commented that the prices were excellent for the beer. We ordered lunch, and my only complaint was that it took a long time for the food to come to the table. Since we weren't in a hurry, it was fine. I had a chicken panini that was full of flavorful ingredients and had a crispy crust. The tortilla soup was yummy, although wasn't very hot by the time I got it. The others like their food choices as well. Our server was great and the ambiance was a comfortable bar feel. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed the beer and the food! We're from out of town so we each got a Sonora dog. I had a blonde and a Mexican lager. Dad had the same. Quick polite service and fun to look around inside. Definitely stop by! Close to downtown. read more
The beer, drinks, food, atmosphere and service are all top notch and would def come back here. We did a flight of beer and all the flagship flavors and others were worth trying. I got the French dip and was super flavorful and filling enough for lunch. Love the texture of the fries also. The restaurant/bar is huge and can hold a lot of people. read more
Great afternoon on long covered patio facing north , breathtaking catalina Mountain View & railroad train tracks run though too! Lucky to get leftover super bowl 54 Sunday specials including bacon jalepeno bacon chowder in a bread bowl along with jalepeno bacon BLT on a hearty bead w side salad . Both were winners in my estimation ! Also chosen from researching yelp reviews was the tasty spinach artichoke appetizer served with tortilla chips . Thanks yelpers not disappointed in recommendation, good job! Sophia our server on point, professional , & fun thank you. A cooler sunny Monday afternoon on the patio started getting windy & temps dropping ,I say put it on tape and play it back in a month ! " it's so cool " both Barrio brewery & the weather .. read more

Came here on a Thursday with a friend. It's a brewery and they also sell food. Our server was very friendly and attentive. They have salads, sandwiches and hot dogs, variety menu. I got the happy hour Fried pickles, jalapeño poppers, and the Lizzie salad (Romain lettuce with onion, bell pepper, chicken, bacon cheese, and you can get a half or full portion). The pickles were hot and fresh, but the jalapeños were not. My friend had the wings (bone in) and they were small. They have a shuffle board. And they have inside and outside seating. read more
After work, a coworker suggested dinner at local favorite, Barrio Brewing, and said she really liked the beers and food. We agreed and headed to downtown Tucson. I was surprised to see that it's within an old warehouse, pretty cool. I got the raspberry ale, which was just average. It is light with very minimal hints raspberry and left a weird aftertaste in my mouth. It's not bad, but not great either. As for food, I got the beer sponges and half a chicken caesar salad. The two soft pretzels were freshly baked, soft, and went really well with the honey mustard dipping sauce. Salad was standard and tasted just fine. Overall, I thought Barrio was a good experience. read more

Running around nearby my SO suggested this place. We checked out the website and not only did the food sound appetizing but they have "pandemic" specials named after our current state of being. They have the quarantine, the social distancing for 2, the home schooling special. You get the idea. Aside from the specials they also have an extensive menu. I'm sure just about anyone can find something they'd totally enjoy. We settled on the social distancing for 2. We chose to takeout. And called in the order. What a deal! You pick your entree and you select a 6 pack of beer. How can we not go for it? Right? He chose the Diane and I chose the philly. Both of us got the beer battered fries and they suggested the Rojo beer. So the Diane was a generous size burger with fries. It's like a mushroom Swiss burger, It was tasty albeit a bit on the dry side. But good nonetheless. My Philly cheesesteak was not exactly what I expected. It was good, although it to was on the dry side. Not exactly what I consider a Philly but by a beef sandwich standard it was pretty good. Also a generous size sandwich. The fries were magnificent. Nicely seasoned not dry a bit crunchy. I liked them. And I'm not that much into fries. There's plenty of food to fill you up nicely. The Rojo beer was beertastic. I enjoyed it. It is an amber beer. My SO said it reminded him of a Mexican beer. I don't know but I do know I wouldn't mind having another and with a six pack for two, I did. All in all it was a nice meal. Prepared in less time than they said it would be which was nice. The staff was also friendly. I'd try them again. read more

Was nearby and decided to stop by and I am glad I did. They have been in business for over 20 years at the same location. I drank the "Barrio Blonde" and "Santa Rita Jefeweizen" (both were good solid style). Service was quick and attentive (thanks Mimi). Full bar and food menu. Lots of TVs and room for large parties. I had the boneless wings with medium (towards hot, which was fine) Buffalo sauce, good eats. I would highly recommend drinking and drinking here. If nearby give it a try. Enjoy!! read more

Well, I'm even more impressed! We purchased a growler of Ruby Red to take to Phoenix with us on Saturday. Unfortunately the lid wasn't on right, or something, because the whole thing spilled in my car - despite being buckled in! I contacted Barrio and explained the situation and was so happy when the manager offered me a refill on my beer when we came back through Tucson yesterday! Amazing customer service! Now to find someone to detail the interior of my beer-y car... read more
A friend and I were in Tucson to hike at Saguaro National Park. We came here for lunch after, we love their Mocha Java Stout - which they have regular and nitro! We have had their beer at the Strong Beer Festival and knew the place. I had a cheeseburger and my friend had salad & potato skins. The food was great and the beer even better! The location is in a kinda weird place super industrial but the inside is really nice, they also have a nice patio read more

Loved the atmosphere in here! The food is also great too. I enjoyed everything: Sonoran dog, carne asada quesadilla, and the lemon cilantro chicken wings. I would pass on the nachos though. We came during happy hour and there are a lot of deals off of food and beers. Seating is first come first serve so if you have a large group, you might have to look for a table for a while. read more
