First time at Barrel Junction. Decided to order the Cuban sandwich with a side of potato salad and spicy slaw. Cuban was good. Nicely pressed bread, tasty pulled pork, pickles, mustard, etc. The sides were good as well - I enjoyed both the potato salad and the spicy slaw. Unfortunately, the slaw had a slightly grainy texture. Overall nice spot for a quick bite. Service was kind and fast. Will stop in again next time I'm in the area. read more

Stopped on a Friday night during lent at about 6 pm. They were busy, but we got seated in about 10 min. The ambiance was sports meets old style lighs typical new age sports bar. Stephanie N was our waitress, and she was just great. All the staff seemed to be on their toes and working hard. I ordered the fish and shrimp. It took a bit for our food, but they were busy. Sadly, some people think it's ok for their children to occupy a table of 4 while others wait for a table. Of course, the table of 4 children had to be seated right behind us, and of course, the parents were drinking, paying no attention to their kids, and the sad part none of it was the restaurants fault. The service is very slow. It took 35 minutes to get just a basic fish and shrimp basket. Industry standard ticket time is 12 minutes. We asked our server twice about the status. The pulled chicken sandwich was very good, sweet slaw and beans very good. My companions chicken sandwich was also good, but her side sauces were way too spicy. I was disappointed that the waitstaff mentioned that many items on the menu were no longer available, why not cross them out? They also only have sweet 'n low as a sugar substitute. How difficult is it to carry Splenda? Splenda is the preferred substitute in the US. Atmosphere was comfortable, clean restrooms. Iced tea was fresh brewed. I ordered a Coke, but was told they only serve cola, not Coke. I rate it as average, no it sure if I would go back again, as I don't live in that area. read more

i've been to barrel junction on multiple occasions (live close by) and i've never had a bad meal. their side salad is worth the couple buck up charge and their burgers are great! their beer selection is also favorable and you can even catch a game while dining with the fam in one of their many tvs. ambiance is pretty normal for a smaller place and i would suggest checking their hours before visiting, but in terms of food and drink options, it's good! read more

We needed some lunch ...looked to our trusty yelp app for what was nearby and Barrel junction it is its a sports bar with a back dining room the dining room is bland but it does have big garage door type windows I wonder if they are open in the warm months there are tvs at the bar menu has smoked offerings salads and what I chose fish wedge its actually a pretty cool sammie pizza dough is the "wedge" acting as your bread fried fish with slaw and fries in the sammie tarter was on the side all in all a nice spot for lunch read more

First time. Never again. I haven't even gotten my food yet, but the service alone gives the whole place one star. I ordered online and it said it would be about an hour wait. I showed up after an hour and my husband went inside to pick up. He stood there waiting to even be acknowledged. I get it. It's a busy Friday night. Everything seemed so unorganized. We ordered online at 7 PM for takeout. Arrived at 8, and proceeded to wait an hour in the parking lot after one of the servers told my husband "we will bring it out to your car." When I went inside after waiting an HOUR and asked for a refund, they said "they are working on it right now" and then some other woman came out and said half heartedly that they would refund half my check. To me, it just didn't feel genuine. If I don't see the refund in my account, I will be calling and asking for the owner. Absolutely HORRIBLE service. Never ever ever again. The Grubhub driver I was talking to inside while waiting said their other location is the exact same way. Someone call Jon Taffer this place needs a Bar Rescue. Edit: Got home within 12 minutes after waiting 2.5 hours for my takeout order. Food wasn't even hot. Wow... just never ever again. Soooooo incredibly disappointing. The portion was hefty, and food was good after I heated it up. The service alone however left the worst possible taste in my mouth. No hospitality whatsoever. This place would never survive in the south. I will not recommend this place to ANYONE. read more

Went for early Good Friday dinner. Got the special panko breaded cod. "Hand cut fries" were basic frozen fries. Salad was OK. Cod was very fishy and basic. My husband and I have dined in and gotten takeout about 15 times and we have never once been unhappy or disappointed in the food. I think it's some of the best burgers in town. I went to Barrel Junction for the first time last night. It feels more like a sports bar than a restaurant. Of course, my party was seated directly in front of the bar on a Saturday night. They also have another seating area off to the back that I'm assuming is quieter and less crowded. Though they were busy, my party of 7 was seated within five minutes. People who came in the door after us didn't seem to have a wait time either. Our waitress wasn't seen often. We saw other waitresses pass us more frequently than we saw our own. At one point we assumed she was on lunch or possibly finished her shift. She would often leave to get a drink or boxes for our food and wouldn't return for a while. The food didn't take too long to arrive. When we got our food it was extremely hot. You could tell it was just prepared, which is good. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. The food was good and the wait time for things wasn't horrible. The overall service could be better. On a side note, they have one of the best buffalo chicken dips I've even had. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I grew up right up the street and really wasn't expecting much from another bar on Route 8. We came in for my mom's birthday and we had a decent amount of different food. I ordered the fish sandwich which I really didn't think the sign outside would be correct in saying that it's the best, but it was incredible! And wayyyyy too big! The breading was perfect and it wasn't too greasy. I will say I tried all of the Cole slaws and none of them were good but that's minor. I also tried some wings and other then the garlic ones (which were not good) all the others were good. I also highly recommend the sweet potato fries which were really good. This place is hit or miss. I normally get the fish and shrimp basket. Sometimes everything is cooked perfectly and the service is great and other times the fish is under cooked or my server may be moody. We live around the corner but because of COVID we really haven't been able to truly visit this Yelp! gem out. Well... it indeed lives up to its hype. The pizza (for a "Pan" style) is an 8.1 on the Barstool Scale. Excellent flop and all around good pizza (for its type). The Spicy Honey Shrimp appetizer was a real doozy. Not as hot as I'd like but they are good... REALLY good. As far as the service goes with COVID times I must say Ashley & Alaina did the absolute best with what they were given. Both women are excellent with hospitality and taking care of what is being thrown at them. It seems as if management may have the table system/seating number chart WAYYY out of whack for outside seating. I see the undesirable reviews across the board but I don't think that's the waitresses fault. They provide excellent service during a VERY awkward time... and BIG ups to the kitchen as the food was multiple foodgasm inducing. We'll be back again even if our order is sent to the wrong tables. My husband and I stopped in Sunday 4/14/24 around 7:40 pm. We waited at the hostess stand for about 5 minutes, no one showed up to greet us. It wasn't crowded, four people at the bar, six seated at a hightop near the bar, no one in the back. When no hostess arrived to seat us we decided to sit at the bar. 10 minutes go by, no employees visible. No hostess, waitess, or bartender in sight. My husband spotted an employee folding pizza boxes with two other employees standing around watching in the entrance to the kitchen. He went over and asked if anyone was here to wait on us, ask us if we wanted a drink or to place an order, you know typical things you do in a restaurant. He was told that "she's down stairs and would be up shortly" We waited several more minutes then decided that they really didn't need or want our business/money so we left. We went to Dive on Saxonburg. We were greeted immediately upon arrival by a very pleasant hostess, seated, order taken by a very attentive waitress and had delicious wings and drinks. Sorry Barrel Junction, you lost two local, loyal customers. We like your food but the service wasn't just bad, it was nonexistent. I'm glad business is so good that you can ignore paying customers. read more
