such a great brunch experience! we were visiting my sister in Illinois and we were looking for a new brunch spot to try, and she said her boss recommended this spot so we should try it. and i'm very happy we did! we got seated very quickly on Mother's Day for brunch, and service was friendly in this clean, welcoming, and bright restaurant! some things we ordered: - mimosa flight: very delicious, but definitely more juicy than champagne-y (which not complaining bc i love my mimosas sweet lol) - loaded bloody mary: my mom and sister were big fans! - southern chicken sandwich: i love me a chicken sandwich, and this one was yummy! the chicken was big and juicy, and i love me some thin cut fries! i do wish there was more sauce on my sandwich, but i just love sauce LOL - 2 eggs your way, eggs benedict, southern skillet (i think that's what it was?): these are what my family had, and they all enjoyed it! we do wish the skillet was a big bigger, but it was good! overall we would definitely come back to this spot for brunch when visiting again! would love to try their dinner menu :)

Caramel Skillet Cookie

Stumbled in on a whim and immediately felt like we had been missing out on something. Romantic modern gothic is the only way I can describe it. Dark beadboard walls, copper ceiling tiles, round orb lighting, and upstairs a cavernous space with soaring ceilings anchored by a stunning skylight. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful dining rooms in the area. Date night approved. One gripe before we get to the good stuff: if you have pages and pages of creative cocktails and an extensive wine list, your two mocktail options deserve the same love. We don't drink and the options were fine but very sour and clearly an afterthought. Do better for the sober and sober curious crowd. Now the food. The burrata was creamy, rich, and gorgeous sitting in olive oil topped with chimichurri and grilled bread. Needed more balsamic to bring the acid balance home, but honestly still one of the better burratas I've had locally. The stuffed pork with gouda, chimichurri, and saffron potato wedges was a genuinely smart plate. The saffron wedges were a surprise standout, bringing a clean earthiness that cut through the richness beautifully. A touch heavy on the gouda and the whole dish woke up considerably with a little extra salt, but the bones of it are excellent. The churrasco hanger steak told the same story. Well cooked, flavorful, chimichurri doing its job. The curly fries were the one shrug of the night. Not bad, just boring next to everything else on offer. Mike our server closed the deal by steering us toward the caramel skillet cookie and honestly, bless him for it. Warm, salty, sweet, rich, topped with cold vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. It is everything a skillet cookie should be and we scraped the pan. We are already planning the return visit and bringing friends. Barrel & Vine is an unexpected dining experience that Plainfield is lucky to have.

Short ribs with mashed potatoes, crispy leeks, and the most delicious sauce

This was our first time here and we really enjoyed it! Great food, service, and a really pretty place. We'll be back! Highly recommend the Greek salad, short ribs, sticky toffee pudding, and chocolate cherry old fashioned!

The food was delicious, and the staff was welcoming and attentive. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The outdoor seating is a nice touch, and my drink was refreshing and perfect for summer. A great spot that I'd happily visit again.

NYE dinner was a great choice. Delicious cocktails, champagne samples, and party hats that traveled with us all night... immaculate vibes. Our waitress was attentive with great energy, and I loved that multiple staff members chimed in to hype up the steak sandwich. The food was a 10/10: flavorful steak sandwich, perfectly crunchy fries, and a sauce that wasn't overpowering. The calamari was buttery smooth on the inside and light, crispy, and golden on the outside. An amazing experience overall.

Came here for a birthday brunch. My friend was able to make rsvp for 26 ppl (adults + kids) with no issues. The restaurant has an upstairs that is pretty big. Could probably hold a huge wedding or Shower party there. Love the decor and food was great. I think they have a coat check, but I'm not sure. The coats didn't stay well on the chairs. And can't hang your purse on the back either. I ended up putting my purse between my shoes. Had the mimosa flight and was able to try all of their flavored mimosas. They were pretty tart. But I like the strawberry lemon the most. Got the eggs Benedict with the smoked salmon. Came with a side of potatoes and peppers. Then ended with the sticky toffee pudding. Definitely recommend as it melts into your mouth. The waiters were really nice and was able to do split checks with no issues. There are street parking and a small parking lot not far from the restaurant. There were signs on the street that helped guide me to the parking lot.

Came here to celebrate my friends birthday. We had a large group and they had the table set up before we arrived. The service was fantastic. They do not have a separate GF menu but the server indicated many items can be made GF. My friend I split the poppyseed quinoa salad and a veggie omelette with GF toast. The server confirmed there is a separate toaster and the omelette would be made in a clean pan. The food was delicious. I also ordered the mimosa sampler. They have great flavors to try. Will definitely come back!

Stuffed Pork Chop and Barrel Carbonara

We had the brussel sprouts for our appetizer and they were so good. I had the stuffed pork chop and have never had a better pork chop-amazing! My husband had the Barrel Carbonara and he said it was so good he'd order it again (&again). Dessert was the Sticky Toffee Pudding-wow!!! Mike was our waiter and he didn't miss a beat. Loved the atmosphere. We will definitely be back!!!!

We recently discovered this place and have been here a few times already. It is spacious and has a nice comfortable atmosphere. Service has always been wonderful. Great spot for special occasions that's nice but not too fancy.

Amazing local restaurant in Downtown Plainfield with incredible service, a beautiful space, and quality drinks/food! If you remember Opera House, then you know how large this space is. The inside is absolutely beautiful. There's two floors. The first floor appears more casual, a great spot to grab a pre or post drink. The upstairs is where we were seated, in the massive dining room. Our server was on it, checking in often and made great conversation. I was most excited by the crispy calamari, mostly because it's gluten-free, and it's not often that I get to eat fried calamari. It was super good, lightly crisped, and chewy but not mushy. The short rib was slightly disappointing. The piece I received was mostly fat, but the pieces I could eat I enjoyed. The drinks were a hit as well. I can see this becoming a go to spot in the summer as well.

Garage Band Brewing

DOPPELBOCK 'N ROLL…read more This suburban brewery taps a solid, headbanging beer. I've always felt that a cold draft hits differently than a can or bottle. When the mood strikes me, I'll venture over to Garage Band Brewing on Des Plaines St in downtown Plainfield, next door to Station One Smokehouse (with whom they share a symbiotic relationship). Their brews have hard rock-inspired names, like 'Stout It Out Loud' (a play on the KISS song), 'Hop Shaped Box' (Alice in Chains), and 'Hybrid Th30ry' (a 30 IBU pale ale with a nod to Linkin Park). Last time here, I got 12oz of the 'Don't Harsh My Mellow' for $6. I dig the packaging wrap on their 16oz cans of Dizzy Up the Blonde; a Marilyn Monroe-esque lady sitting on a 55gal drum, suggestively tugging on her red high heel with one hand and holding a chalice of beer in the other. What's not to like there? They have a trio of pinball tables that get sporadically rotated out. Previously they had Foo Fighters and Star Wars, now they've got Stranger Things, JAWS, and a gorgeous Godzilla premium model at $1 per play. There's a digital jukebox too, if you wanna pick tunes for the venue. * TL;DR * I lack the time and expertise to brew my own beer, so I'm happy to leave it to the pros. Garage Band is a small operation with big dreams, and they already have a handful of solid brews in circulation. I check back every few months to see their new seasonal drafts, like a shandy in the summer and darker Oktoberfest-style beer in the fall. They're closed Mon-Tues. Beer and pinball are significant passions of mine, and since Garage Band has a nice selection of both, they get an easy 5*.

Went there on a Saturday evening and I don't understand why this place is not more popular. The…read morebeer and service was great.

We came here in September 2026 while visiting friends in Plainfield. This place is very warm and…read moreinviting, and we loved the vibe here. The menu offered a great selection of food, and I went with the Sausage and Peppers pizza. The pizza crust was slightly thicker than the local tavern style pizzas, and it was cooked perfectly. I was told there is a legit pizza oven in the back of the place. The pizza overall was damn good. I wanted to eat more of it but was trying to be respectable in front of company. Our server was friendly and super-efficient - always ready with whatever we needed. This was another establishment that made me wish I had something similar here in this touristy town where I reside.

When I asked to be added to the waitlist, the hostess said they "don't really do that." I asked if they don't do waitlists at all, and she said "no, not really." The whole exchange was short and felt dismissive. Partway through, she stepped away to seat another table, then came back and said she guessed she could put us down for 8:15 as a reservation instead. By that point it felt like we were pleading just to get a table, so we left and went to another local spot we love. The frustrating part? We got a text that our table was ready about five minutes after we walked out. I think this was a hostess issue more than a restaurant issue, but some training on how to handle a full house and basic people skills would go a long way. A simple "we can put you down and text you when something opens up" is all it would have taken

Nottt a favourite. My sister and I pulled up last year--I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Wrap and we…read moreshared the Smoked Chicken + Artichoke Dip and the cheese curds. It ended up being a massive bummer! For the wrap, I really do hate sounding so harsh, but I don't know how else to put it other than it was one of the worst things I've had. It was soggy, cold, and smelled--not sure about the taste since I could barely taste anything except the sauce--almost rancid! I have NEVER had Buffalo sauce taste like that before! And my lettuce was super soggy and super yellow with some browning, past the regular texture + colour for this type of lettuce. I had many more pieces, but I was so in shock from the wrap that I genuinely didn't take any photos. I genuinely felt ill and I couldn't come close to finishing it--and neither could my sister when she tried to help! The dip was OK, but again, it was cold and rather tasteless. We did end up finishing it, but it wasn't generally noteworthy. It was the best out of the three items we tried, though! The cheese curds were either barely cooked and stale or very overcooked and chilled--the cheese was hard, rubbery, and really cold! They were seasoned nicely though, so we ate enough of it--especially my sister who found some redeeming factors within them! The sauce helped! Oddly enough, we were basically the only people inside, so I'm not sure what went so wrong! There was a small post-funeral or celebration of life being hosted outside (I think???? Everyone in that area wore black/dark formal clothing and looked upset), so maybe all the care went to them?? I'm not sure how it could've really been a "bad day" since it was pretty well staffed and seemingly little stress, but I'm giving a benefit of the doubt if that's my ignorance!! The employees were so sweet and bubbly, though! Interior was cute and super lively, but EXTREMELY cold LOL. Maybe that's why our food was frigid... Redeeming points: The water tasted good!! Not much more to say, just pretty disappointed! I've heard people really like it, even people I know personally, but I really cannot think about it much without feeling ill! I wish I was joking!! Plus, my sister was returning after visiting with our father, where she ordered a Reuben which was overall OK, but not really worth the price (as she reports!). Really unfortunate! Not sure if we will be returning, but we really did appreciate the kind servers and awesome environment!
