I ordered the Blue Elk with elk, amish blue, bacon, caramelized onions, tomato fig jam on a sprout bun. Not sure what a sprout bun was, but it turned out to be a whole wheat bun with oat shavings on top. The burger was tender and meaty, and the flavors balanced in the just the right way - the sweet tanginess of the fig jam complemented the tofu-ish textures of the elk. The bun, to my surprise, was actually soft and tender, perfect to bite into if your wisdom teeth is growing out like mine. We got a side of the farmer's basket salad and let's not forget the pièce-de-résistance, the rings and sweet fries combo. I have been eating at bareburger for years as it is co located in the Whole Foods shopping center. Hudson salad came out great today and the onion rings are delish., but the kids "panda" meal which used to be REAL chicken tenders came out like little chicken scraps. For a 10 dollar meal I expect REAL tenders as was always delivered and is shown on the menu. False advertisement is not the way to a consumers heart or stomach! read more

Two words: Buckaroo Burger! This is by far the best, juiciest, tastiest burger that I have ever had. I also tried El Matador which is really good too but the Backaroo will forever be my go-to, I think. The staff is friendly and very attentive. Went for the first time yesterday and it was great! The service was excellent but the different variety of burgers there was unbelievable!! So many different meats to choose from and many of the choices were gluten free! I ended up getting the California BLT and it was delicious! I wish there were more locations down in the DMV where I live! And everything is organic too! read more

I was just in town for the holidays looking for some healthy options, I'm vegan and gluten free and Bareburger popped up. They don't have Bareburger by me but I decided to give it a try. The food is great! They had a lot of options that worked with my diet! I'm not used to having so many choices when I go out to eat! My waiter's name was Luke, and he was so friendly that he made me feel at home- which is rare in NY!! He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu & knew exactly what to suggest that worked for me! I tried the impossible burger, and I loved that it tasted like real meat. I will also recommend the jalapeño margarita, if you want something unique. read more

My wife and I have been to Bareburger a few times now and the reason we go back is the food is very good and priced accordingly. On two occasions our waitress, Skylar, was super friendly, took our order correctly and delivered it with a smile! Looking forward to going back soon! read more

Absolutely amazing. I've ordered from this place at least 5 times on uber eats within the past month, I just can't resist. The special sauce mixed with the Original(v) with a brioche bun never fails. The sides of onion rings and french fries are also very good and probably one of my favorites out of a lot of other restaurants. When I went to get a Gift Certificate as a Christmas Gift, I enjoyed the atmosphere so much that I decided to stay for lunch. Although I didn't have an alcoholic beverage, I was happy to see a bar and bar seating. The staff was really friendly and helpful with explaining the quality of product, and the menu. I really enjoyed my Standard Beef Burger, but I could have lived without the side order of Onion Rings that I ordered. Although it was a little more expensive than what I am used to paying, I understand that the quality of the meat is more expensive. I won't be going there on a weekly basis, but do plan on going back to try a Bison Burger. read more

I love this bareburger location. I've been to a few locations but the Closter location is by far the best one. The staff is always accommodating and friendly. The food is delicious every time and the presentation is always lovely. Skylar is usually our server if she's there because we love her. She always has a a smile on her face and checks in throughout our meal. They have outdoor seating which we love. We usually go around dinner time and the sunset is beautiful. read more

I was going to tweet this, but I have more to say than what can fit into 140 characters. So the family went to Bareburger Closter tonight for food. Everyone was happy, yummy meal, great burgers, tasty fried chicken in my spinach salad. All good, right. Yeah, I was until the freakin check came. $10.50 for 3 glasses of seltzer? $7.70 for a side of fries? I'd gladly pay that again if a side that cost that much would satisfy a family of four (I probably could have counted the amount of fries I got on both hands). Now let's get to the onion rings that set me back $9.70. Not bad for six sliced up deliciously fried onion rings you think. Unfortunately the portion may have consisted of 2 large pieces and say, 4-5 small pieces. I don't mind spending a few bucks on a good meal. I'm not dining at French Laundry on a regular basis but when I get a bill for three burgers, a salad with fried chicken, fries, onion rings, 1 beer and I get sucker punch'd by a $92 bill? Sorry The 9W Filling Station, I won't make that mistake again. I'd pay 8 bucks time after time for the mondo size of insanely good fries that you offer. Bare Burger, wow it's unfortunate, but I just can't take that beating again. It was delicious, but just a memory from now on. read more

I'm so sad to report this place was horrible. It had all the makings of being a great new spot in this area - nice atmosphere for a chain, bar, organic food, a menu with interesting meat choices, front windows open up completely for open air dining - but the food was just not even mediocre. My husband had the collard Caesar salad - which was good. I ordered the "flash fried" Brüssel sprouts - while they were probably the tastiest thing we had, they were drenched in oil! Couldn't even finish as the bottom of the bowl was full of oil. I had the chicken BLT - with avocado, bacon and sprouts. It was mediocre at best. It came out wrapped in wax paper on a multigrain toast - which between the heat in the wax paper & sauce on the bread - the bread was complete mush. My husband ordered the bison burger (el Matador) which was tough and flavorless. It was supposed to have jalepenos, spicy pico de gallo, queso fresco guac....all were in there, but if we didn't see it, we swore it wasn't on there. Absolutely no flavor and soggy bun. Oh and the fries, which you have to order ala carte - greasy and soggy. Add a 12 0z beer and crappy glass of red wine - $63 (without tip). I don't mind paying a heavy price, but it's got to at least taste good! Sorry to say - first and last time there. Can't imagine they will last. read more

I went to Bareburger for the first time today and was pretty disappointed in the burger. The brioche bun was stale and the burger was very very salty. The burger was dry and lacked any real flavor except for the salt. Having said that, the sweet potato fries were great! read more

We've been to the one in Edgewater and left with mixed opinions, none too good. Now the new Closter restaurant is no better. Organic free range and all that are nice ideas but the food is less than satisfying and a general mish mosh. Love the idea. Don't like the food. Plenty of great places to eat. I have been here a couple of times and tried a few different burgers. Basic burgers are around 15 dollars without fries and they are just ok. They taste like your mom made them at home in a frying pan. They are really nothing special. They even taste frozen. They also don't ask how I wanted it cooked and it came out well done which was also a bummer. The only positive is that the beef is grass fed but I would rather go to smash burger. read more

The food was just average. The menu looks really fun and varied (which it is). However, the quality was underwhelming. I ordered the falafelwraptor and they was so badly wrapped that I had to re-wrap it to prevent the fillings from falling out. It wasnt because it was overfilled with ingredients, but it was just badly wrapped. The supreme burger my husband ate was just average. Meals dont come with fries or any sides so keep that in mind. Food is on the pricier side esp for a burger joint, but the ingredients are also higher priced ingredients. It came to about $20 a person (before tip) for four entrees, two sides and two beers. The service was simply bad. I had to grab my own menus, didnt receive any water, and the servers although werent rude, werent friendly or welcoming either. read more

We are excited about new restaurants coming to Closter Plaza. We ate at Bareburger on Friday evening. We both ordered the beef Burger with assorted toppings. The burgers were good. The onion rings had too much breading, which made them a soft chew. I prefer crunchy onion rings. Considering the high prices at Bareburger, I was disappointed in the small size of the burgers and small serving sizes of the onion rings and French fries. The service was excellent. The hostess was so friendly, fun and warm! The waiter who took our order was very nice. The atmosphere.... terrific! read more

Service is great but the bottom line is that this place is just a high priced burger joint. No burger place is worth (after20% tip) 73$ for 2 specialty burgers, onion rings / fries side and 2 beers. Again, service was great , we sat at the bar. All of the servers were attentive and friendly, nice atmosphere. I've had equal quality , similar orders for about 20$ less. I ordered two cookies and cream milkshakes. I waited around 30 minutes for them to make TWO milkshakes and it costed $22. The taste was horrible because they gave use some weird low fat coconut milk drink. So in the end I waited 30 minutes for milkshakes that weren't even milkshakes and I wasted $22. To add to this, their burgers are highly overpriced and their fries are usually bland and have no flavor. I will not be returning. Terrible experience. Do not go here. read more

Although my food wasn't perfection I still feel as though this place deserves 5 stars. We were greeted promptly as well as greeted with smiles and kindness. Our server was super sweet and was helpful with anything I asked. The Brussel sprout app was incredible and my children's burger and chicken were both really good as well. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was nice that it was a good size but I would've preferred it be smaller if they could've cut off all the cartilage or tendons that were fried in there... nobody likes biting into a wiggly or tough piece of chicken but the flavor was good. I am not a big meat eater but I always find something different every time I go salads are amazing and farmstead with collared green wrap is so yummy. PROS: The wait staff is great! Every time I go there most of them are always friendly to me. The food is very healthy and there's a good amount on the menu to choose from. Parking is plentiful and many tvs to watch your game. CONS: One waitress that's really nasty is LAUREN! She either stands by the door or at the counter and has a sour puss on. She always seems like she's depressed and when you order something from her, good luck trying to get it right. the place is small and is always crowded. The prices are more than they should be, even if the food is healthy, and they close at 10pm...which doesn't make sense for the bar inside. OVERALL: It's a nice place to go at the right time. If you could avoid the crowd and lauren and don't mind the prices I do suggest it. read more

I visited Bareburger on a Monday night for dinner with some coworkers and had a great time! There was a huge draft beer list but I went with a Widow Jane Manhattan which was very good. They gave me a real dark sweet cherry instead of those bright red ones. My server (who's name was also Luke!) was really fun and accommodating with my coworker's gluten free needs. I got the California turkey burger, the avocado was PERFECTLY ripe and I felt like it was easy to eat healthy here and still enjoy your meal. I'm glad we came! read more
