I submitted an online ticket and dropped off my laptop. I heard no update all weekend or on Monday, so I called on Tuesday morning when they opened at 10 a.m., stating I would be picking up my laptop and looking at other places to get an estimate. SURE ENOUGH someone had picked up my laptop right after I left a voicemail stating I was unsatisfied with the timeframe, received no updates on my laptop, and was taking my business elsewhere. I was charged $50 for someone to "look at it" when I didn't want the service anymore. I had to pay the $50 to get the laptop, and I called THREE different numbers multiple times to stop the process, but that was clearly ignored.  This business is no good for UT students who need their laptops fixed quickly, efficiently, and at a reasonable price. They were going to charge me $300 for service and replacement. In comparison, I went down the street to 1Up Repairs and was quoted $170.  Overall, I am frustrated with receiving no updates, finally getting in contact with someone after the service I did not want was completed, and the service charge of $50 that was not known unless you scroll to the very bottom of the website and then it states it in very small letters. They scam people out of $50 and try to say, "It says it on the website and every time we call." Well, I never received a call back from the 15 calls and voicemails I left until the inspection was completed, so I never got to hear that they would charge me $50 for an inspection.

John Cloud diagnosed a failed memory stick (oh no! they cost so much now!). I supplied an "extra" memory stick from one of the other computers at our church and John continued the repair diagnosing and fixing some particularly nasty software errors that had resulted from the initial hardware failure. All of our installed software now works reliably again! Great job! The machine was back in service on March 5 for a very reasonable repair cost! I somehow connected with some annoying site that invaded my computer. I could not use it because of continuous, invasive messages about viruses on my computer and the need to purchase antivirus software. I came to Frankenstein. The technician spent three minutes or so eliminating the blockage and arranging my settings to reduce chances that I will connect with similar bad actors in the future. And he didn't charge me at all for the service. Expertise and grace - what a combination!

We brought MSI and LG Gram laptops in for repair since our last experience was fast and easy…read more This experience was NOT fast and NOT easy. Problem 1: Open-ended commitment on diagnosis and repair time (Fan Replacement on the MSI estimated to take up to 2 weeks). Juan finally told us that they offer 1-day service as an option. Problem 2: Poor detail management. We had to remind Juan to return the charger for the LG. Problem 3: Shop was supposed to open at 10AM and we were told at 10:05 that he was 10-15minutes away. Problem 4: Juan was marginally polite but clearly was not customer friendly. Our Laptops' Status (owner remedies): 1. MSI FAN NOISE: MSI is still functional and sit's on a Large FAN Cooling platform and occasionally makes a bearing squeek. A check for Fan availability shows 5-14day availability (ships from China). Juan, a good customer service approach would have been to just be up front with the parts availability! 2. LG Gram BlueScreen: Using the Windows11 Restore routine after backing up personal files fixed the problem. Juan wanted several hundred dollars to do this including CPU cooling maintenance. Aren't there diagnostics routines that could be used first to confirm that overheating is actually an issue?
