I have purchased many items from this location, the service seems OK . I purchased a Green Mountain Smoker from them earlier this year, or last on their recommendation and used it a few times. I went to use it in March and it would not start. I tried to get help from Green Mountain but they won't even call you back !! This smoker is still under warranty but, WHAT GOOD IS THE WARRANTY if you can't get any help from them. DON"T BUY PRODUCTS MADE BY THIS COMPANY !! It is total Garbage !! The guy at BG tried to get me in touch with the company, they did nothing, just sent me a useless EMAIL !! DO YOUR F#@KING JOB AND GIVE SOME CUSTOMER SERVICE !! This is a big thank you to Paxton at BBQ's Galore. While I haven't been in your store, I called asking for help to repair my my very old (16 yrs!) Treasure Garden Umbrella which was broken. Spoke to Paxton Chanthaphonh and he gave me his email contact info and asked for photos and other info. Even without having the model number Paxton researched the part and provided me with the website where I could source it directly. So while this is a soft 5 star rating because I've never been in the store. DO NOT buy their bbq islands, they are absolute garbage and have no framing or structure. It's literally just stucco holding it together. It will fall apart according to the managers if you push it to straighten it out. They say you need two plus people to lift it and gently put it down. For 3500$ you would think it would have a wood framing, and be repairable but nope. If you push it a couple inches, the stucco breaks off, they call it frame damage and it cannot be repaired. Save your money and have a real contractor build you a island, it will still be less than this over priced garbage. read more

Wow besides Sarah everyone gave 1 star and has 1 review under their belt. Well let me add some validity to the rating here. I've been a fan of BBQ since as far back as I remember, but never really got into it until a teenager who loved working the grill and basically relearning good habits my dad taught me. Since then I've owed a half dozen grills and BBQ's, built a few of my own from various places and for the everday person looking to not burn their chicken with sweet baby rays this place may not be for you. It's also not for the advanced smoker aging their own fruit wood, making their own dry rubs and sauces. It's a great place to get gadgets like thermometers, skewers, etc. They have a healthy spice and rub selection, but all commercial and great places to start and get ideas for your own personal transformation from griller to pit master. As many of the previous reviewers bought grills to install during remodels they do have quite a few to choose from, but I've been exclusively smoking for about 6 years now and would never go back. They carry quite a few high end fancy models, all expensive and some rather home décor heating systems. The only reason I come here regularly is to get traeger pellets for one of my auger fed smokers. They carry a good selection of flavors, sell them for cheap, will order from traeger for me. The staff is pretty helpful if you know what you want, the selection is ok, but I really feel that all the bad press everyone is getting isn't fully indicative of the experience you can expect. Yeah probably don't buy a grill, don't have a contractor install it. You should be smoking it anyhow and don't buy a Weber anything. I've made better quality and study grills myself. I do however recommend the Green egg which they carry. Superior insulation. Bright open layout. Plenty of space to browse. I get my lump wood from Lowes, but they carry a lot of fuel in bulk here. The quality of your food is not in line with the price of your grill. I get the whole ease of use reasoning, but you may as well go to Home Depot across the street for that. Not a single person actually reviewed them, just rants and raves. Sounds like there is a lot of turnover here, which is never good and granted I don't recall anyone's names, I've never had a bad experience here, but never a good one. So so all around, a little pricey would be my last thought. read more

I've gone here several times to buy BGE charcoal for my Big Green Egg. After the first couple of times buying it, they now often don't have it in stock and are totally indifferent in knowing when it will be in After returning twice in 4 weeks to see if they got it in, and being told any day now, I've given up. The salesmen seems lazy, uncaring and just passing their time. I've been to other branches and have had better results, but this store is just awful. Even though this store is a few miles from home, I now travel 30 minutes to San Marcos to another BBQ store that's locally owned and offers superb service. read more

The Encinitas store sent two technicians on November 23 2021, to my home to check out my outdoor kitchen. I opened my front door and they had parked across my driveway. When I questioned why they were parked in front of the driveway, I was told they did not know why. I asked them to move their vehicle and was met with an attitude. Their lack of unprofessionalism totally undermined my confidence in the quality of their workmanship. read more

BBQ Galore in Encinita's is a good example of why this chain of store went bankrupt before. They will not take returns on merchandise that doesn't work out of the box. OK they sell expensive albeit good quality grills. I own two of the Grand Turbo models which they will jump through hoops to sell but if you buy any of their accessories; good luck. We bought a bbq at Barbeques Galore some years ago. We needed a repair done. Called Barbecues Galore for help and was told since the manufacturer was no longer in business, there was nothing they could do. They refused to send a tech out. They refused to research any parts sites. They refused to return my calls. They simply said there was nothing they were willing to do. My wife and I did our best to buy an infrared BBQ for more money than anyone should spend for an outdoor appliance that cooks meat. If I said the salesmen were aloof, I'd be complimenting them. They were downright rude, difficult to get a price out of and were inconsistent from our first visit to second trip to the store. In spite of the obstacles the sales staff threw at us, we overcame and plunked down a credit card for a grand and a half. As we left the store, I told my wife that I had never felt less satisfied buying a large ticket item in my life. To make a short story long, the BBQ was to be delivered 5 days later to our home. We had to call on day 6, only to be told the model we choose was no longer in stock and the only one that was left in a warehouse somewhere in S. Cal was damaged when they took it out of the box. Bottom line: The prices are high, our satisfaction is low and the customer service is pitiful. They win, we won't be returning. Are they barbeque snobs? No, this is a store with a culture of, "who give a bleep." read more

July of 2012 I visited the San Marcos store (now closed) and purchased my second Capt'n Cook BBQ (Model: B2612ALP). The Encinitas store is now the closest so I'm attaching my review here.. My previous Capt'n Cook had lasted 12 years and was still operational, but getting a little worn looking. This was great and so I naively expected the same from my new one. Not so... Basically the quality has really tanked.. Following are the issues: 1) Electric Flame starter failed after 4 months (battery changed, no joy) (previous one was manual and still worked after 12 years) 2) Cheap Stainless hood corroded and easily scratched. 3) Hood handle badly corroded 4) Flame tamer ceramics began deteriorating almost immediately. Cleaning would accelerate the deterioration so it discourage one from doing the necessary cleaning. I now have only ONE remaining ceramic that is intact as they crumble easily. At $12 a pop (total of 8 need) and a maximum life span of about 2 years, over the same 12 years I had my first BBQ these could cost MORE than the BBQ itself (over $500). NOT a good deal. Note that my first Capt'n Cook only required new Flame Tamers ONCE in the 12 years I owned it. 5) Drip pan system got clogged very fast and required almost weekly cleaning. All in all I would not recommend it. (Note; We use our BBQ at least once if not twice a day, year around so it gets heavy use. This was also true with our first Capt'n Cook so the use pattern is identical) read more

Won't ever go back. Stood in the store for about 15 minutes waiting to exchange a propane bottle while the one service clerk helped another customer. Ask if there was anyone else that could help...his response was..."no he's on lunch". With service like that the place will be out of business shortly. read more

I absolutely hate to leave a one star review, but today's visit to Barbecue Galore takes the cake. I purchased a large green egg with the help of (or at least I thought I was being helped) a staff member today. My man friend had taken one side and the staff member the other side to load into my Porsche. The staff member didn't lift his side high enough and scratched my bumper while loading. Instead of apologizing or checking his work, he simply walked inside as if nothing happened. Barbecue galore itself has great options, however please be careful or maybe go to an alternate location if you require loading assistance. My bumper that has been newly painted JUST THIS PAST WEEK is now scuffed up without even an apology or offer to help get it fixed. Poor customer service in my opinion. read more

Do not go to these guys for repairs. They charged me $99 in advance just to set up an appointment for the repair. Then, before they came out to do the job, they wanted to charge me another $100 for the parts they thought I might need (without ever seeing my grill). I ordered a replacement igniter months ago. Every time I call to find out when I am getting the part, the folks at the store have absolutely no idea. They say the part's manufacturer has not gotten back to them. I can get my money back, but that does me no good since I still need the igniter. read more

UPDATE!!! I contacted the corporate office after the local store refusal to return or exchange my item. A regional manager arranged for the item to be replaced with correct cover at no cost to me. The two guys that were working here the other day were very helpful. We got a bbq from here about a year ago and lost a part to our bbq when we moved houses. The gentleman who helped us was able to email the bbq company to get a replacement for us. Super nice and also helped us out with our questions about the outdoor heaters. read more

Two encounters, both bad. A year or so ago I went there to get a replacement grill for my Weber. They didn't have it, but said they would order it and call when it arrived. I ended up following up twice with them and finally gave up. More recently I wanted to buy a replacement for my Weber charcoal lighter "chimney". They didn't have the Weber model, so I settled for what they carried. The first time I used it, the aluminum finish started blistering and flaking off into the BBQ, leaving the unfinished steel underneath. When I returned it and pointed out that I didn't like paint on my steak, the guy offered me a replacement as his solution! I ordered the Weber model I wanted in the first place from Amazon and will avoid this place from now on. read more

I called the next day and was told it didn't come in. Asked when could I expect it? He called me back and told it will take a additional 3 weeks. Will never go that store again! Well, two months later and 4, 5, 6 calls from them that they had the unit together (and 4 trips by me to their store), i still have nothing. The grill cover we paid for months ago was also MIA until yesterday. -------------- Who is Ronny? Oh, he doesn't work here anymore. Who is Steve? Oh, he doesn't work here any more. Who is the last manager I spoke with - i forget his name because they come and go so often. Oh, he doesn't work here any more. What's your name? Uh... it doesn't matter, i won't be here in two weeks.... -------------------- Well, dude, I'm sorry... We have no record of you requesting a rotisserie. OF COURSE YOU DON'T. Because there isn't one, isn't going to be one, and it was just a bunch of, hmmmmmm, lies, to get a sale on to your books. You said you would bill me when the unit got delivered.... no delivery, no bill, no trace in the system that you lied to me to get a sale... ------------------ They tell me that one of their guys called me several times and SPOKE WITH ME. They all agreed that they heard him have a conversation with me about rotiseries, life, the universe and everything. "We saw him talk to you. He was right over there" They point to a spot in the showroom....They all nod vigorously like the Junior Seau bobble-head on the dashboard of my car.... Well, I showed them my call logs from the only phone I have. Obviously there were no calls in the log. It was like I sprinkled pixie dust on them - they all disappeared to various parts of "the back." --------------------- Many promises to have them get this grill out of my backyard have gone unfulfilled. ---------------------- LIARS LIARS LIARS And i won't be a happy griller if I hear them even suggest one more time that this is my fault - or my wife's fault. I bought a 12 foot custom built BBQ island from BBQ Galore in 2007 at their White Marsh, Maryland store. I also purchased doors, gas burner, bbq, sink, drawers, umbrella, bbq cover etc from them. The bbq island started leaking within the first year I owned it. When I contacted BBQ Galore to repair it, I discovered they were in chapter 11 and would not help me. I also learned they sub contracted the building of the bbq island and was told by BBQ Galore to contact the sub contractor. When I reached out to that sub contractor, he would not help me because BBQ Galore owes him money and he has no contract with me. So now I'm stuck with this bbq island that is basically falling apart and I'm out $8000.00. I tracked down BBQ Galore this year, 2013, and learned they were purchased by another company and are still doing business as BBQ Galore selling the same products. I told them of my situation and they told me they could not help me because when I purchased my bbq island from them, that was the old BBQ Galore that went chapter 11. Well, so much for customer loyalty. I would advise everyone to stay away from BBQ Galore. They owe their sub contractors money, and they have NO customer loyalty. They are a disgrace. read more

My 9 year old Weber grill recently stopped working, so i went to BBQ's galorein search of a new one. I ended up with the 7553 series...pricey at $1000 including delivery and assembly, BUT, it lives up to the Weber quality. The staff at the store were well-informed and set up delivery for the following day. A couple of weeks later, i received a phone call from the salesman who sold me the grill. He called to follow up and to be sure that everything was working well and asked if i had any questions or concerns. Very happy with the product and the service. Thank you!! read more

I recently purchased a Weber BBQ from this store which was a special order and required delivery and set-up at my house. My experience dealing with the store manager (Jorgen Lejbolle) and his associate (Kurt) was anything but pleasant once I had difficulties with the BBQ working. When the issue was communicated Kurt immediately informed me that I needed to deal directly with Weber as it was likely an equipment issue and their store does not deal directly with troubleshooting issues with any brand other than their own (this was never communicated at the time the sale was made). I took their recommendation and contacted Weber and spent nearly 2 hrs on the phone and went through all of the potential issues and concluded the gas line installed was likely incorrect and this should be addressed and handled by the BBQ Galore. I then contacted Jorgen the next day and he agreed to now take responsibility and would arrange for a service team to come out and examine the equipment. I had to exert further pressure to get them to come out within a couple of days which was finally accommodated. The service person did finally fix the issue, but at the cost of wasting nearly 1/2 of a Saturday. It is also worth noting that their service team never turned on the natural gas to my house which required me to reset all of my pilot light systems for my other systems requiring natural gas. Today, I requested from Jorgen that they should at a minimum refund the $165 charged for the delivery / set-up to show goodwill from the complete lack of service provided which was initially denied and would require Corp. approval. Overall, I would never recommend any purchase from this organization and if you make a purchase it certainly does not appear that they stand behind assuring that proper service / installation is provided. Barbeques Galore in Encinitas, CA has terrible customer service! We ordered a Weber Smoker for over $400.00 and the manager himself delivered it to our home. He used a metal dolly to take it down our front porch stairs and totally beat-up the painted stairs and left 6 large gashes in the concrete! No finesse and no care that he trashed our stairs. It's unbelievable that now our entry way looks terrible, and right before a holiday. Beware!!! read more

I bought a Weber barbecue here because it was the only place I could find that would deliver and install. It took three weeks to get it. The installers were total rookies. They followed the instruction booklet point by point as if they had never assembled this model previously. I purchased a wood chip box & the installers told me it was the wrong model for this grill. It wasn't. It fit perfectly. They said they couldn't connect the gas because the pipe was too close to the wall. I had to connect it. Before they gave up on installing the gas, they started to remove the valve cover without shutting off the main gas line. They told me that the barbecue cover was not on the truck. I asked them to look again and they found it. Today, about 10 days after the delivery, the salesperson called to see if I had gotten the gas connected. When I told him how disappointed I was in the installers and the service overall, he barely apologized. And then, as if this none of this mattered, he said if I ever need help in the future to call. He never offered any kind of compensation--a credit for the installation charge, a store credit for some kind of barbecue accessory, or something to make up for the terrible service. read more
