Collected, antique breakfast spot. Very kind servers and reasonably priced. Food is solid, traditional, breakfast food. Not many unique flavors or dishes. Will be coming back for their service and vibe.

This place is the best! 80%of everything they make is from scratch, including the burger! The homey touches of fresh burger and a little brand on top of the bun, just too cool! Flavor, freshness, hard to beat. BUT - the home-made chips were pretty great too, again made fresh daily! The pickle on the side tops it all off. I came in around 12:45 on a Saturday, so after the lunch rush. Was greeted at the door with a smile and seated quickly, the service only went up from there! Erin was friendly and smiling the whole time! Did I mention the military/first responders discount??? Will I go back? Again and again!

Simple breakfast and burger place. The barbed wire burger had ham and bacon and just about everything under the sun. Love a great burger. It is the decor that makes this place fun. A lot of vintage signs. Great place for a friendly lunch or breakfast.

Outdoor signage with beautiful blue skies!

What a delightful brunch experience! Everything about this place from it's cute exterior, welcoming staff and reasonably priced menu will make you want to come back for more. I ordered their 2 egg, toast and 1/2 meat ($8), while my husband ordered their breakfast burrito with side of choice of potato. ($10). All prices included tax! You are surrounded by so much Plainwell/Michigan/Farming memorabilia it's difficult to see everything at once. Their television had classic Bugs Bunny cartoons from the 40's playing in the background, which I absolutely loved! Our very nice server was prompt and the food was all very good. Everyone who came in was greeted warmly and you got the sense that you were visiting with close family. Just a great experience all around.

    Tables all have fun trinkets!

I am so happy I stumbled across this cafe! Many available tables during the week and great staff with awesome customer service. You won't get bored waiting for your food as there are multiple trinkets and antiques to gaze upon. My coffee was always full and hot!! Food portions are large with fair pricing. Interesting yet fun daily specials. I do know they're looking for wait staff if you're interested :)

Not busy, totally ignored by wait staff. Food was basic and unimpressive. Nope, go someplace else.

Time to see if it was worth the stop. Y'all. It's totally worth the stop. This shop is super cute, the employees are AMAZING and the coffee and treats are top notch. My wife and I enjoyed two of their signature drinks, and our kids demolished the macarons. The menu is pretty big for a cafe, and they have their own bakers in house. When I expressed interest in ordering a cake, one of the bakers came up from the back to talk time through the cake, listing option after option. Very impressive. Let's just say I took a frequent buyer card to add some more punches down the road.

They were really good to work with as my only requirement was to have 2 birthday cake flavor macarons. The coffee was good too ;) but I got no photo. In the beginning of Covid they had a pickup/ordering window. I was slightly disappointed to see that had been removed and you must go in now, but they are requiring masks and have a table between the cashier and myself. My only thing was that because the cupcakes were refrigerated, I think that affected the crispness of the outer layer of the macarons. Last time i had one from here it was much flakier and light on the outside. Still tasted great tho!!

With that said...I was beyond impressed!! From my first phone call, to make a dinner reservation (on the day of) for a table of 5 for my birthday, through to the most delectable dessert (huge selection of fresh, pastry chef created desserts), the service, entrée, appetizer and martini was out of this world. And the ROLLS. Warm, soft and beyond delicious. When we looked online at the menu and saw the prices; at first it was a real "eye roll". WORTH EVERY CENT! Very generous portions for every course. The feedback I would offer on the haricot vert (green beans).is they were not just al dente but very hard to bite into. Fingerlings not flavorful and mostly tasteless. Minor details when looking at the total meal and experience. We asked that the lighting be dimmer and our amazing server, Taylor was pleasant and accommodating. In fact, every motion and explanation of menu items was kind, pleasant and professional. When she approached the table, she was respectful before speaking and did NOT just breeze by with an intrusive screech of "everything ok guys?". Frankly, we tip more when a server is available and not overbearing. She was a 5 star server! Offering to pack our leftovers for us in the kitchen with a note on the box stating what was inside and a "happy birthday" on mine. A lit candle came out on my HUGE portion of tiramisu. Then the remaining desserts came to thd table that were also very generous in size and better than the usual "homemade". Cheers to the pastry chef and ALL the chefs in the kitchen. And, most of all, to the owners that clearly are committed to quality and integrity. Knowing that our server has been in your employ for 14 years speaks volumes! If you (the reader) think that this fantastic experience is out of your budget...skip a couple Starbucks or fast food lunches and it won't take you long to save enough to enjoy a beautiful lunch or dinner at Four Roses. Our waitress was very friendly greeted us offered us drinks, my husband got a beer and water for me. We looked over the menu and asked for recommendations. My husband ordered the big Lake breeze beef, and it came with a scoop of sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, and green beans. The meat was so tender he could cut it with a fork and he licked the plate clean. I ordered the chili wrapped flank steak with Gorgonzola cream and jalapeño relish. I was asked if medium rare is OK for the steak, but when it did come out, it was more on the rare side. The jalapeño relish was not too spicy, the meal really was delicious. we can never visit without getting dessert! my husband ordered the peanut butter pie, it was a huge portion and he absolutely loved it. I ordered the ice packs lemon pie, which is more of a custard, and it came with the homemade whipped cream. It was very good. We can never leave without getting a piece of the traditional cheesecake to go. I couldn't believe how busy the restaurant was for Wednesday night. I was glad that we had a reservation. The service is always exceptional in the food is great highly recommend to anyone in the area.

All the character is still beaming through in this cute little joint. SERVER: The young man that took our order (& filled it) was friendly enough (for a lack of words, he wasn't rude but not friendly either). FOOD: This is what we ordered.... Pumpkin Sundae -- Taste: was alright. Honestly it was nothing special, ice cream was basic/not much of a flavor profile. Cinnamon roll must have been from a can. Just alright overall. Price: $6.00 2 Scoop Waffle Cone -- Taste: Again very lack luster unfortunately. Price: $7.50 Large Chocolate Shake -- Taste: Sadly just basic, nothing exciting. Price: $7.50 OVERALL THOUGHTS: He charged us $25.00 (we were overcharged, it should have been $21.00!) which we didn't say anything because we added it up ourselves after we had paid. Ice cream is mediocre (there is a much better place just around the corner in the city of Plainwell). Atmosphere is wonderful, love the history in the building (you can read about it in the picture in the frame), like the ambience of the river and natural area. WOULD I RETURN? Unfortunately not for us. We would go elsewhere.
