We had a wonderful family dinner here while I was in town visiting for the weekend. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, our waitress was attentive, and the dessert was amazing! We got the BBQ quesadilla and mesquite beef skewers as appetizers, which were very tasty. For the main, I ordered the rosemary & honey mustard chicken with jasmine rice and mixed veggies. Highly recommend leaving room for dessert. The chocolate ice cream cake, peanut butter pie, and tiramisu were our top three favorites - but I could have easily ordered half the menu.

We had heard lots of really great comments about this restaurant from our friends and acquaintances. We made an appointment for a couple of weeks after my wife's birthday. We arrived on time and were quickly seated. The drink order was taken when the menus were handed to each of our party. My wife had the Whitefish, as well as my stepson's girlfriend, I had the Big Lakes Braised Beef and my stepson had the Pork-chop. My Braised Beef was super tender and very flavorful. As were the fingerling potatoes. The vegetable mixture was just so so, and we were all agreement with this assessment. The whitefish was exquisite and flavorful . The ladies exclaimed over this dish. And my stepson as well was very pleased with the Port Chop, exclaiming it was the best chop he's ever had!! For dessert we ordered a slice of carrot cake. It was to die for, truly!! The frosting was absolutely scrumptious, and I hate most frosting! The cake itself was super moist and flavorful. Another best there ever was created!! We Whole Heartedly recommend this restaurant!!

Everything is beyond 5 stars every time! Food, service, and staff are fantastic! We come every weekend for date night and get the same order because they are phenomenal every time. Whitefish cakes, house salad, house rolls (divine!), chill rubbed flank steak with Gorgonzola cream sauce and jalapeño relish. The Guinness chocolate cake will blow you away, along with the house made caramel sauce! We always get in the waitlist and the table is generally ready within 5 minutes. This place is 5++++++ stars!

Four Roses is a place you really should try if you're in Plainwell or anywhere near. The building is very clean, the staff seems to be friendly and know what all of the entree's are which is a plus. Their beer, wine and cocktail list is usually pretty impressive. You'll notice that their menu is on a chalk board only. There are 3 of them located around the restaurant so that from any seat you're able to view a menu. Their dessert menu is also on a chalk board but the waiter or waitress will bring that to your table for you to view and choose from. My favorite salad is a Grilled Romaine. It can be an entrée or a side. I typically order if before my meal. Most of the items on the menu are always on their menu. However, their sides that an entrée is served with might change based on the season. They also have a fish/seafood option that will change based on their availability. They do sell out of things sometimes so you might miss out on something you may have been hoping to get. My favorite entree's are Whitefish Grenoble, Northwoods Rainbow Trout, Bell's Braised Beef or any steak such as the Ribeye or Filet. My favorite appetizer is the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla (this is also an option to be an entrée so it comes with a side). Be sure to save room for dessert. If you don't, GET IT TO GO! Their dessert menu is really large. My all time favorite it the peanut butter pie. It has a buttery graham cracker crust with a fluffy peanut butter and whipped cream filling. It is out of this world! That alone takes the prize for this place. I've also had the black bottom pie, bread pudding and carrot cake (also outstanding!). We've even came just to have coffee and dessert, it is that good! Keep in mind that it isn't a huge place and they do NOT take reservations.

The sign. It was late at night.

What an amazing place to visit. Due to the pandemic we had to do carry out. It was amazing. Delicious food and the usual great service. We will definitely be back again and again. We've never had a bad dish here. A 25 minute drive from my town is worth the ride. I'm not sure why I can't add tonight's pictures bummer.

    Yummy deliciousness

What really stood out was the bartending -- not just the skill, but the passion. After hearing the bartender's take on the Old Fashioned, I let him make it his way -- and it might be one of the best I've had. Balanced, bold, and beautifully smooth. Two of my friends described what they were in the mood for, and the bartender crafted custom cocktails for each of them -- both drinks were spot on and had them raving the rest of the night. If you're in Grand Rapids and want a cocktail experience that goes beyond the ordinary, SidebarGR is a must. I really enjoyed the espresso martini from here. The drink was so smooth and had the perfect balance of flavors. Highly recommend. We only stayed for one drink but I would definitely come back for another sometime. The bartenders were also really kind and having a good time with everyone in there! Really loved the atmosphere and our experience while we were there.

Live performances, good food, AMAZING drinks, and wonderful staff makes the drive worth it every single time! The cocktail bar has a cool story and I love that every menu item has a feeling to it. My favorite drink for the night was from their limited edition summer menu, the electric slide was perfect and refreshing (sign my petition to get my drink on the regular menu lol), my boyfriend had an old fashioned by one of the bartenders that another couple near us said makes the best, and he indeed said it was made perfectly! (Idk what that means cause I think they're gross, but ‍), the mint julep is also a must try as their signature drink, ooo and the my prerogative is pretty tasty too. Big drinker clearly, we also tried the competition cocktail made with corn!! Sounds insane, but it was actually really good!! Okay onto the food, I have no pictures of the food because I literally inhaled it all. So here's my list of must try's as the cost is pretty reasonable, so you can really try them all. We arrived exactly at 4 PM after seeing this weekly promotion on social media. Upon arrival, the venue was empty, yet we were completely denied access to bowling due to a private event, and told that no bowling customers would be allowed until 6 PM. Before anything else, I want to clarify an important point: "Free" does not mean customers should be treated poorly. Free events are often meant to introduce people to a business, attract new customers, and create a welcoming first impression. Offering something for free does not justify rude behavior, dismissive communication, or shifting responsibility onto customers. Respect and basic courtesy should apply regardless of whether an event is paid or free. What bothered me most was not being turned away, but the blame-shifting that followed. When a business publicly advertises "Free Bowling Wednesdays" and encourages people to show up at 4 PM, it is reasonable for customers to rely on that information. Adding the word "limited" on social media posts does not communicate that no bowling customers are allowed at all until 6 PM due to a private event. Those are two very different messages. Instead of acknowledging the lack of clear communication, the responsibility was shifted onto us as customers with statements like "you should have called." This is unfair. Customers should not be expected to double-check an advertised public event by phone when no such instruction was mentioned. What made the experience more disappointing was the lack of empathy no apology, no ownership of the confusion, and no attempt to acknowledge how frustrating it is to arrive on time to an empty venue and still be denied entry. This review is not about complaining. It's about accountability. Clear communication and basic courtesy go a long way, and this situation could have been handled very differently with a simple acknowledgment and apology.
