Sadly, I have to give this place a bad rating due to the grouchy waitress we got. I have to say that the waiter our party of 8 originally had was kickass and was wanting our table to enjoy this wonderful memorial weekend. Unfortunately, his shift ended and we were handed to someone who did not want us in her area. Hospitality plummeted severely shortly after we had that change of shift. She was rash, gave the cold shoulder and was kind of unwelcoming. I have heard wonderful things about this restaurant, it has been on my list of places to attend as one of our local restaurants; however, it was severely disturbing to have that waitress. I was looking forward to the experience, but I don't believe I will be giving my money to this locale in the near future. I'd get better service at a dive bar down the street. I wouldn't spend a dollar here. After a beautiful day hiking and lunch next door and Solito's we stopped in to get a drink. First the hostess was so wrapped up in her iPad that I had to clear my throat for her to even see we were there. She then Half a** gave us instructions about getting drinks for there or "to go"? We proceeded to the bar and were waiting for at least ten minutes when some tan guy in a checkered button up asked us if we were with the party next to us. I thought he was honestly about to make us our drinks....but when I said no he said "you need to stand over here" walked us over to the door and said "only one party is aloud inside at a time" smirked and handed us a menu and walked away clinching with a sh** eating grin on his face. For real?... there's a better way to communicate your little rules. They have an obscure white paper sign on the door with small type stating their random procedure. After that someone rude behind us was upset thinking we cut the line so we left. Rude staff. Rude patrons and what looked like sub par drinks. Plenty of better businesses to support in the area. I've been here in the evenings and it's been quite nice. Guess they aren't skilled or prepared to handle a Saturday rush with professionalism and grace. Just ew. I couldn't believe how rude everyone here was. The only person working hard was the bartender and he looked burnt out. I read so many other reviews talking about the crap service and bad attitude here. If it's consistent it comes from the top. Period. Ownership is responsible. Went here around 8:30pm on a weekday with a couple of my relatives, and the service was was friendly and quick. Highly recommend the pear pizza! It was light, very flavorful, and great for sharing. We all agreed that it was our favorite item that we ordered. The other items we had were also yummy, but the pear pizza was surely the most unique. Great place for casual drinks and eats! Here are some good things to know: 1. No reservations--unless you want to reserve a certain area/ are a really big party. 2. You don't have to wait to be seated at a table, if you want (what I recommend), put your name in with the host/hostess and they will text you when the table is ready. In the meantime grab a drink or even order food and sit at the beach section or on the bocce court itself. You can also sit around the fire pit if it is open. 3. The beach is a decent size so I will definitely being a tarp next time to sit on! 4. There are two bars--one small one outside right when you walk in (limited menu more wine and beer), and then one inside where you can get pitchers of sangria and such. Inside is where you will also order food if you don't have a table. They will give you a number and deliver to you. 5. I don't know if anyone actually plays Bocce here... because people end up sitting on the court for more seating. My experience here was very fun! The food itself was really good, we thought the portions were very small for some dishes like the pea crostini and the fried artichoke especially for the price. Everything was very yummy however. Have been here twice now. Once with a group of friends and second with a group of coworkers. Second time was last week, came in around 4PM after a sailing event with my work team. There were like 15 of us and we got a table right away. Food came out quick. We got the artichokes, meatballs, and lots and lots of pizza and booze. Everything was good. We are here after biking across the golden gate. We had our little Maltese yorkie with us. There was a sign up front that said "service dogs only" but they made an exception for us. They were super busy! We got here around 4pm. Even with the business (over 100 people) mostly in the bocce/beach area, the food and drink service was very quick. We had multiple servers come up to make sure we were taken care of. They have great teamwork here. The food is also amazing. Has such a fresh taste. Favorite place to go in Sausalito! If you want to spend a nice day outside with friends, family or your SO, go here! The food is delicious (Bar Bocce salad, Calamari that's grilled over cous cous, and any pizza are all amazing), the sangria (red, white and blood orange) even better and the view is the best! Mostly seating outside but they have a few spots inside. Although I highly recommend sitting outside because that is the whole point. If seats are full take your food and drinks out to their beach and have a picnic. Obviously they a bocce ball court which you can sign up to play. I came here on a Saturday around 5pm for an early dinner and drinks with my boyfriend and had an AMAZING time. When we walked in, they took our name and number right away so they could text us when our table outside was ready... which was only 15min later! We split the pear pizza (comes with fontina, gorgonzola, candied walnuts, balsamic, and frisee) which was delicious, and the kale salad. For drinks, we got sangria and then a mint berry lemonade mocktail with vodka, which I would 100% order again. For dessert, we got the coconut sorbet. Yummy and beautiful. Bar Bocce is a great summer/spring hotspot. Lots of young people lounging around the sand/water, enjoying the beautiful beach view. The hostess was incredibly rude to us, told us a long wait time, and suggested that if we were only getting drinks we could sit on the bench by the water. Bar Bocce is one of my favorite spots for get-togethers. The eggplant parmesan is my favorite next to their pizza's. Their backyard patio is cool place to hang for drinks by the fire pit and enjoy the views of tiburon and the marina. I took my family here for my dad's birthday, twice actually, (pre-covid) and my grandma loved it so much we came back a month later for her birthday. There's ample parking too. I don't really write Yelp reviews but felt compelled to do so for Bar Bocce- because I truly do not want anyone else wasting their time with this place. From the moment my friends and I arrived, it was made very clear to us that we were not welcome. Why? I don't know. We were respectful, patient with the 1.5 hour wait for a table, "please" & "thank you", truly we were an easy party to host. First, they have a policy that only one party can order drinks at the bar inside at a time, which fine, I understand and happily complied. But the way the host told us to file in line outside was honestly kind of hostile as though he was annoyed at us for standing at the bar. Then we finally sat down and were promptly told that there was a 1.5 hour limit to sit and eat our meal. Umm, ok. Except it took 20 minutes for anyone to take our order so there goes a third of our "alotted time". And once our food was served, NO WAITER attended to us whatsoever. We had to flag down the busboy to get a 4th pair of utensils even though we had always been a party of 4. Then, the host/manager hovered over us awkwardly and then said our time was up and we had to leave. I honestly regretted even leaving a tip at all. Do you hate your customers? I don't understand. This is a great spot to come to if you're visiting Sausalito for the day! The one thing to keep in mind though is that it is always super busy here, so expect a +1 hour for a table. Bar Bocce has a outdoor area with a few tables, a firepit which you can use as long as your party hits a certain dollar amount, and then tables inside as well. They also have a bocce ball court outdoors as well as a small beach area, where you can bring drinks and small bites out to. The pizza here is fantastic! They have various options, all cooked on a thin crust. I'd also recommend the salt cod fritters and garlic bread for appetizers. They also have a great drink menu too. Just about everything comes in a pitcher or carafe size as well since they cater to larger groups. You can't beat the ambiance and atmosphere at Bar Bocce! read more
