Ended up here on a Thursday dinner. We ran out of options and we just pulled in H-E-B and saw this cafe and decided to give it a try. I had the salted pepper prawns and shrimp fried rice & hubby had the sesame chicken it was good. I was so thrilled as the serving was plenty Service was good and [[HIGHLIGHT]]ambiance was great![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I recommend this place-

My first time at this place walked in for a to go order. The young lady who took my order very unpleasant didn't smile. When I said hello she stated what can I get you. I ordered the chicken curry. It wasn't good what so ever. The curry looked more like a gravy and the chicken was soft. Definitely will not be returning

Found not one but TWO staples in my food. After calling to complain, they first offered to bring me a cash refund for half the meal and said I would have to leave the rest of the food on the porch for them to pick it up.. what's actually hilarious is when I checked the reviews there have already been people who've found STAPLES in their food as well. Seems like something you'd heavily avoid but clearly it's not a big issue for them. Food was great besides the metal office supplies of course.

My cousin just moved into the area and wanted to try this restaurant. We got the jalenpeno chicken, magnolia beef, shrimp lomein and egg roll (sorry for the misspelling ) Everything was absolutely yummy and fresh. The egg roll was literally filled with cabbage wasn't bad tho. The lomein was on the ginger side 7/10 but the shrimp size is big! Service was good- it is cold in there so bring a jacket. It's also very reasonable pricing

This is the only place I know of outside of a restaurant in Austin that closed, that actually has chicken pieces in their orange chicken! Will be a staple in my house now

Quaint, modest Asian cafe with a convenient location to serve East Spring. The menu is pretty basic but offers familiar staples for Chinese-American fare, and the service is prompt & friendly. The food isn't extraordinary, but it's made with quality ingredients. Flavors & textures are subtle; nothing is too spicy, too salty, not too oily/greasy. Personally, I prefer my food this way - easy to digest & not offensive to the taste buds. A good balance. Favorite dishes are the fried rice (lightly seasoned, cooked only with egg & onion) and the boneless bbq pork (a 1-lb, portion of sliced Char Siu that's served with sauce on the side). One of my go-to's for speedy & reliable takeout or delivery in the area.

I made an order on line and on line the Combination Lo Mein said it comes with fried rice. So i order ordered it and then it didn't come with it. When i called and asked about the issues, i was told that they tell people it does not come that way. I asked for the manager and manger was not in and they didn't know when they would be in. Horrible customer service, sounded like Cindy care. She told me she was just a cashier.

This is a great place for some traditional, basic Chinese food. Nothing unique but they use quality ingredients and large portions to draw you back. Also know that iced tea is free with your meal if you dine in. If you like your shrimp big and plentiful their shrimp rice and noodle dishes don't hold back! I had a great waitress yesterday. I asked her opinion on the level of spice in the Mongolian Beef lunch special and not only was she accurate but she came back to the table to see if I agreed after my meal was cooked. Great service!

I will list the good things first... Carry-out food prep time was fast. The food was hot and remained hot until my 15 minute commute back to the house. The chicken was meaty compared to other Chinese restaurants that use about 75% batter, 25% chicken. The chicken here was about 90% chicken, 10% battered. The price beats P.F Chang's restaurant any day, but the food isn't as high-end quality... Now here is the bad news... I ordered "orange chicken" and "general tso's chicken," but I felt like I tasted soy sauce chicken and sweeter soy sauce chicken. The fried rice was a huge disappointment. Basically the rice was made with little pieces of eggs and doused with soy sauce. That's it, with no more ingredients besides the oil used to fry it. This chicken I awkwardly wrangled in my mouth had as much Chinese authenticity as the Popeyes chicken down the street...

There's no set place with great asian food in this area. That being said, Bao's cafe use to be one of favorite until they started hiring such rude and unfriendly front staff. Karissa? Small lady with glasses, overcharged me and refused to give me a refund claiming I ordered x amount of food. The good: 1. Portion size. Order a dinner meal + kids meal and we have way too much food! 2. Fast delivery / free delivery 3. Reasonably priced. 4. Egg drop soup way yummy The bad: 1. One year update: still enjoy the Pheasant Soong Chicken which is so good that it's the only item on the menu that I've tried. Waitresses are still polite and prompt, and delivery drivers (I've had more delivery than dine-in) usually beat the time estimate. ------------------------------ First visit to Bao's and as Schwarzenegger said, "I'll be back!" I tried one of the house specialties, Pheasant Soong Chicken, and I enjoyed it. In addition to the lettuce wrap, for an additional dollar they brought a small bowl of fried rice. I enjoyed it both as a lettuce wrap and with the fried rice. The employees are polite and prompt. read more

Literally have eaten at this place atleast 6 times or more this past summer. I skipped the gym and headed to Baos. Their delivery time is deceiving, literally everytime they've said it will be 30 minutes it is literally less than 15. The Mongolian beef has the right amount of spice. I love this place whether dine in or delivery, definitely a go to. read more

I think the previous reviews were a little harsh. Glad I tried it. The food was fresh and very good. I ordered General Tso's Chicken, which is my personal fave when done right. It was delish. Fried Rice was great. Price point is good. It's a convenient option for those in the area and definitely a must try. It just opened a few days ago, go support! read more

Im not a huge Chinese food fan, but my dad loves to take me and my son here. They give us amazing service, the servers are so kind. The food is good too, all the soups are fresh and come out steaming hot. Also something I enjoy with Bao's is when ordering take out! It's not frustrating or hard to understand. Not sorry, that's is one of my biggest turn offs ordering from any ethnic restaurant. This place is great! 5 stars from my family and I. read more

Absolutely awful service. 0 stars. First, I NEVER ordered any delivery. I just got home from work, doorbell rang 3 times, Chinese delivery. I figured my husband ordered food, sign receipt and take him dinner. Over 2 hrs later, another 3 consecutive doorbells, driver made a mistake and delivered to the wrong house...and is now yelling at me saying I have to pay $32??!?!? For his mistake. My husband is still working, and he is yelling, dogs are barking. Worst part, the man took the food back, which had already been opened. Disgusting! I hope he didn't give it to the other customer. Although he probably did. So cheap. I have NEVER tasted their food and never will. read more

If my wife didn't stop me I would eat Chinese food everyday. I've been here 3 times in the last 2 weeks and every time it gets better. First time I got the Szechuan Beef and Scallops, it was outstanding. Definitely a must try. This place hits 5 stars as far as Chinese Restaurants go. Excellent food and service. read more

I saw some mixed reviews on here, but I love well-prepared Chinese food and it's close to home, so thought I'd give it a try. I called for a delivery, and the food arrived in less than the 30 minutes he promised me, delivered by a nice young man. The Mu Shu Pork was real good, I asked him for extra plum sauce which they included. The Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was the real winner, outstanding. Beautiful plump pink shrimp, lots of bright green Snow Peas, some beautiful sliced mushrooms... and the fried rice was delicious. All the portions were large, will get another meal out of it. We were well pleased with our order, we'll definitely eat there again. read more

First time here. I visited the Rayford location. Only had 20 minutes to grab a quick lunch. Waitress brought my hot & sour soup and Kung Pao Triple delight in about 3 minutes. Great pepper flavor in the hot & sour and not too starchy - good consistency. Kung Pao meal prepared perfectly. Excellent service, too. Can't go wrong with this dish. Will definitely be back when in the area. read more

I just walked in with my children to eat dinner (btw there are absolutely no Bao's on the menu). We walked in to only stand at the door for a couple minutes, wondering if we got seated or sat ourselves (there is no sign saying either) I was talking to my oldest son about it and a couple overheard me from the restaurant (they were the only customers there) and informed me it's seat yourself. We sat ourselves down, we had already overlooked the menu while waiting for some direction and decided what we would like to order. Once the waitress came she asked for our drinks, I mentioned to her as well that we knew what we would like to order and that we were in a bit of a hurry so just wanted to make it as seamlessly quick as possible on our end. She then proceeded to say with an attitude "well I'm getting the drink order first" I then told her it'll be a moment. That was it, second red flag for me. I gathered my children and walked out the restaurant and went across the street to Panda Express. Looks like I dodged a bullet anyhow as reviews regarding the food is horrible. I wouldn't know, but I can tell you the service was great at PE and well Chinese itched was filled ‍ read more

Okay, FINALLY found some good Chinese food in Spring! My goodness! I went for lunch on Saturday, yes, they do lunch 7 days a week until 3pm! I got the Kung pao chicken for only $6.95, came with rice and either a spring roll or won ton soup. The won ton soup had good flavor, not just watery like other places. The King pao chicken was soooo delicious! As I write this review, I wish I was eating some right now! Tender chicken, flavorful sauce, not too spicy, crunchy peanuts. Very very good! My fiancé got the chicken Lo mein, not on lunch special, but still only $8 for a big portion. He is very picky, and loved it! I had a taste of the chicken only, and it was also very good. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some good Chinese food in the area! Also, the inside of the restaurant was nice and modern, and very clean. read more

This our go to for Friday night delivery! Food is really tasty and portions are big enough for 2. Favorites include the egg drop soup, fried dumplings, sauteed green beans, lo mein, and egg rolls. Delivery time is usually less than quoted (they even delivered in the pouring rain), and food is always hot. No real complaints about this place, and I haven't found anything better in the area. read more

Used to use this place for delivery all the time. NO MORE. They promise a delivery time of 45 minutes and the after 75 minutes I call (three times before they answer) and am told it's out for delivery. They say another 15 minutes. My home is only ten minutes maximum away which means it's not out for delivery. I ask for a discount as in either going to receive cold food or it was all a lie. I can't do business with unethical people who deliver poor service. I tried to go the extra mike and say I'll accept the delivery with a discount and they refuse. Good bye Bao. read more

(So bear that in mind to take them out if you don't like the rind taste) The combination lo mein is good but it needed a bit more flavor so I used my orange chicken sauce to sauce it. The servers were great and helpful. Place is clean and smells fresh. Will definitely go back to dine in.

The skin is perfectly lacquered--beautifully crisp with an irresistible golden sheen--while the meat underneath is unbelievably tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Every bite is a perfect balance of crispy skin, succulent duck, fresh cucumbers, scallions, hoisin sauce, and warm pancakes. It's not just dinner... it's an experience. What I love most is the consistency. Every single visit, the quality is exceptional. The presentation is elegant, the flavors are authentic, and the attention to detail is second to none. You can truly tell that the chefs take immense pride in their craft. The service is always warm, attentive, and welcoming, making every meal feel like a special occasion. Whether it's a date night, celebrating with friends, or simply satisfying a craving, Bamboo House never disappoints. 5/5 Stars isn't enough. If I could give them 10 stars, I absolutely would. It's simple, hearty, and especially good on a colder day. I've tried several other dishes here, and they've all been solid and remind me of the Chinese food I grew up eating. The servers have always been attentive and friendly, and the restaurant is spacious, so it's a good spot for family dinners or larger groups.

I didn't want fries, so I subbed for the lemon potatoes. The gyro was very large and filling, and tasty. The pieces of meat were just shaved and not crispy or anything like you may receive on some gyro at other places. The potatoes were homemade and basically 1/4 potatoes, sliced lengthwise. I was so full from the gyro that I only ate one of the potatoes but didn't think it was very lemony at all. Customer service was excellent the entire time and they will even come to your table and take your plate away as if they are full service, which they aren't . I also ordered a slice of coconut cream pie, or at least that's what they said it was. It had no cream in it and appeared to be a coconut custard pie not that different than the one I make at home. It was delicious as well.

The restaurant is small with only tables and maybe 4-5 seats at the small bar. We arrived about 15 minutes before our 6:45pm reservation and had to wait due to no available tables, but that was not a showstopper. The noise level was moderate throughout our stay such that one could easily carry on a conversation with table mates without having to scream. Almost all patrons were nicely dressed. Since this is a Michelin acknowledged restaurant two years in a row, we were expecting uniqueness and we were not disappointed. That said, food was very good, but I would not rate it as spectacular. The blue fin tuna tostados were delightful and hands down the best dish we had. Ceviche mixto was excellent with a just a hint of heat. I would order these two appetizer dishes again. Main courses consisted of duck 2 ways, redfish with green mole and risotto, spring cavatelli, and grilled shrimp & pork belly. All were delicious and uniquely tasty with the exception of the duck. Mind you, I really like duck and the sliced portions were excellent and perfectly seasoned and moist, but the pate-like accompaniment was not that good, plus the mole sauce was not what I was expecting. Table sides of Brussels sprouts and fried cauliflower were good but nothing special. The Eton Mess with strawberries was simply delicious. Would I go back? Maybe, but not anytime soon.
