I'm a huge fan of Bao Di and I'm excited to have them in the neighborhood. We went in for lunch and it was clean and quiet and both staff members working were very nice and attentive. We started with the fried chive cakes which came out piping hot and absolutely delicious. We got the pork bao buns and the bun was soft and pillowy and the pork was flavorful. We also got the salt and pepper shrimp and it was quite a nice rendition of one of my favorite dishes. Crispy head on shrimp, lots of onions and peppers and very salty and peppery! I can't wait to go back to try more things because the menu is extensive! If you're craving Chinese this is the place!

Got food delivered from here and absolutely loved it! If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the scallion pancake. Phenomenal texture (crunchy with a chew) and flavors along with a savory/tangy dipping sauce. The kung pao chicken and Singapore noodles (curry flavored rice noodles) were also so delicious. Hope to go in person soon and try more of their menu!

People on my neighborhood page started posting about the soft opening of Bao Di and how it was so amazing they kept going back and back. I finally had the opportunity to go with some neighbors and it did not disappoint. It was pretty busy but we had 7pm reservations and were sat right away. We had a server but everyone took care of us including the owner. We had scallon pancakes and potstickers for appetizers. I love scallon pancakes. This one was so flaky and not as greasy as most of them are. The pot stickers were full of pork. Both of them came with a soy sauce with some garlic. So good. Now the main dishes! Our favorite was the Cumin Lamb. It was so tender I didn't believe it was lamb. We also had the braised pork belly and eel. They were good, but that lamb. We loved the art on the wall and they space was open and lively. We can't wait to go back.

We had an outstanding experience here after a Creative Alliance event. The menu has both American Chinese food and more traditional dishes. We had a mix of everything and everything was delicious. The scallion pancakes and general Tso's tofu were amazing, and the Singapore Mi Fen was even better the next day. They also have donuts for dessert, which are basically deep fried biscuits covered in white sugar. This is possibly the best Chinese food in Baltimore.

We stopped in for the soft opening of Bao Di after waiting months to find out what would occupy the space. My husband and I were so excited to see signage go up, we have been eagerly waiting to try out Bao Di! The staff were all super friendly and were hustling all night. They were slammed, but stayed cool under pressure and were very apologetic (even though they needn't be!) about anything coming out late. The food was incredible! We wanted a little of everything and left with three boxes of the most delicious leftovers. The chicken satay was tender and saucy, I often find them thin and dry but these were good pieces of chicken. The crispy pork was really good, super sweet and tangy and very crunchy, but I think if the meat were sliced a little thicker, it would have been a bit less like a candy texture. Both of the soups - wonton and egg drop - were on point, so savory and warm. The main was a big portions and so, so, so scrumptious. I'm a freak about my fried rice, and this is absolutely my new go-to, lots of fresh veg for a little crunch, egg, and it wasn't too salty. The stir fried tofu was a fantastic pair, I loved how the tofu was textured and sliced very thin. This dish is spicy - beware! - and I loved every bite, even if I was sweating a bit after. To finish it off, the donuts were super yummy and pillowy soft with a light coating of sugar. The Bao Fizz was a great cocktail, it tasted so light and fresh. I recommend this to anyone looking to try a new, authentic Chinese place, and I will definitely be back to try more!

Amazing place with slightly elevated Asian classics in a chill atmosphere with a nice bar. The scallion pancakes were deliciously crispy and the Bao Fizz was great. Had NFL on at the bar, nice chill place to watch a game.

Yay a good (non-American) Chinese restaurant in Highlandtown! The interior is beautiful and inviting. The staff is lovely and happy to engage. Hot and sour soup: yes very good! Love this variation with mushrooms and tofu. Wood ear mushroom salad: mushrooms cooked right, wish the dressing was more assertive/flavorful though. As described, the dressing was the reason I got this dish. Spicy pepper stir fry tofu: love a dish with tofu sheets. The chew and texture adds dimension to any dish. However, this was flat flavor-wise, not spicy, and was just missing any depth. Was hoping for more. There are many things on the menu that are enticing and I'll be back to try them!

This place is amazing! I have been here three times since it opened in October and I have to tell you hands down this place has the best Chinese food. The owners are amazing and Monica the bartender is fantastic! If you love Chinese food then get over here asap. And for the record yo won't be hungry 20 Minutes later. They feed you right.

A welcome, highly anticipated new establishment to Highlandtown located on Eastern Avenue. We were greeted so eagerly and warmly when we walked in. Bao Di was already busy when we arrived but luckily there was a free table by the window (there is also a bar at which you can dine). We noticed, perhaps intentional, perhaps not, they were keeping families with small children on one side of the restaurant and then groups of adults and couples on the other side. Which for a party of the latter, we were quite happy to have a calmer area to dine. We ordered a chinese beer, the cucumber salad and the crab rangoon to start. The cucumber salad was light but flavorful and the crab rangoon was probably the best I've ever had. We then enjoyed the Three Cup Chicken (definitely worth the wait) and the Cumin Lamb. Both entrees were so delicious and hearty and while I'm looking forward to trying even more from the menu I'm also desperate to get back and have the chicken and lamb again.

I ordered delivery from Lao Sze Chuan a few months ago, but finally visited in person this past…read moreSaturday and had a very good meal. Lao Sze Chuan is a new-ish (open since January 2025) Sichuan restaurant that took over the space Busboys and Poets used to occupy. It's a huge space, but they did a great job renovating it, and it feels light and bright and modern - very comfortable. It's huge though - so I hope people know it's there and are ordering takeout/delivery or stopping by a for a meal in person! The service was very friendly and very fast, so it's a great spot for an in-person meal, too! Their menu is as large as the restaurant space, so there's something for everyone! They definitely have a lot of Sichuan dishes, but if you're not up for Sichuan, they have some other dishes that might fit the bill: dim sum (plenty of dumplings and buns), lo mein, fried rice, Peking duck, basil eggplant, Mongolian beef, and more... On Saturday at the restaurant, my husband and I shared a pot of white tea and a few dishes: crystal shrimp dumplings; pork soup dumplings; spicy tofu skin strips (shredded tofu skin tossed with Sichuan-style chili oil, peppercorns, and spices for a bold, numbing and spicy flavor); spicy and sour fish fillets (tender fish fillets simmered in a flavorful broth with pickled mustard greens, garlic, and Sichuan spices); a side of white rice for the fish; and red bean paste pumpkin cakes for dessert. When we ordered delivery in February, we shared: vegetable steamed dumplings; Yu-Shiang Eggplant Roll (tender eggplant braised and rolled in a traditional Sichuan Yu-Shiang sauce, offering a perfect balance of sweet, sour, savory, and spicy notes); crispy salty chicken (bite-sized chicken pieces deep-fried and seasoned with basil); salt & pepper pork chops (crispy fried pork chops tossed with onions and jalapeño peppers for a bold and savory flavor); and a side of white rice). I've enjoyed everything we've eaten (although I wouldn't recommend the crispy dishes for delivery for obvious reasons - I can't resist salt & pepper pork chops sometimes even though I know it doesn't travel the best), and I love how broad the menu is. I can't wait to return to try more of their dishes!

We sat there for 15 minutes after we were finished and I finally had to get up and ask the hostess if she could ask our waitress for to go containers. As for the food it was quite good. The dumplings in spicy chili oil were very good. The shrimp fried rice was fine, nothing too special. The general tsaos chicken was good. The dry fried green beans were very good and the lemon shrimp was decent.

The restaurant is nicely decorated, and the service was impeccable. I had multiple servers come and check up on me and I felt like if I ever needed anything they were able to take care of it. Also, one of the servers mentioned the restaurant is peanut free in case anyone has any allergies. The poke was really delicious. I felt that the salmon was very fresh and I thought they gave very large chunks of salmon compared to other restaurants that really do skip out on the salmon portion, but this restaurant did not! The poke had cucumbers, mangoes, avocado, and scallions as well and I felt that the mango with a nice touch to add some sweetness, and it was also very fresh. The addition of the cucumber gave a nice crunchy texture that helped the dish overall. As for the sauce, I got the original non-spicy poker sauce. I didn't use too much of it because a little bit goes a long way. I recommend anyone to come and try out the poker here and I haven't tried their Ramen yet, but I do look forward to it soon.

I found Ramen Utsuke from Yelp and although it had over 4-stars, I was skeptical because I came from a town with excellent Asian restaurants so I couldn't help but be a bit judgey about the reviews. Stopped by around late 4PM and the tables were still mostly occupied. We were quickly seated in a booth and ordered a few appetizers, bentos, and ramens. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was actually pretty legit Japanese. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen Black and the broth was delicious. The noodles were well done and it had a fair amount of toppings. The pork chashu could be better (they were a little dry) but overall, it was very good in a legitimate-Asian approved way. I also got the avocado salad in onion and roasted garlic dressing and the dressing was the bomb! We use the remainder as dipping sauce for other stuff. Service was great - the staff were very professional and attentive. Definitely recommended!
