The chicken dumplings were the star of the meal. Super juicy with a great meat-to-skin ratio. The filling was very well seasoned, and the dumpling skin was thin but sturdy enough that it didn't rip easily. The wasabi fried chicken was also really good. Made fresh to order (about 15-20 minutes), and it came out extremely juicy and well seasoned. The wasabi flavor didn't really come through, but the portions were huge! Definitely a great place for shareables!
After perusing the options within the food court, Bao Chick caught my attention. Rather than the fried chicken, it was the lamb soup decal (in Mandarin) by the stall that led me to make my lunch order. The Chinese couple running the stall were quite enthusiastic in getting people to sample their fried chicken. I ended up ordering the lamb soup ($16) and a large fried chicken fillet ($9). After paying at the counter and taking a pager, I got my order after another 5 minutes. The husband running the stall (I assume) explained, with the same enthusiasm as before, which chili oil was for the soup and which was for the chicken. The lamb soup proved savory and flavorful without being too heavy. It was a touch oily, but easily cut with the bowl of rice. The soup contained plentiful protein, from lamb meat to stomach and other offal. The fried chicken filet lived up to its name. The meat remained juicy and tender throughout, The breading was flaky and buttery. It had a softer texture to it. I quite enjoyed it, though I definitely was already full from the soup. Overall, I would not have expected a food court stall to have such delicious food, especially one serving both fried chicken and lamb soup.
Wow super impressed by this fried chicken/dumpling spot in Irvine! Located in a cute mini food court area, Bao Chick was one of the first to open and the dude who worked there was saying that he had #1 fried chicken wings and I was skeptical but intrigued. Ordered the wings, some XLBs and potstickers and didn't have to wait too long for them. Homeboy was right- these were some of the best wings I've had! Crispy crunchy piping hot juicy flavorful without being too salty. Also the dumplings were fire especially those juicy XLBs and the made from scratch potstickers. Wish it was closer to me- I'd be there every day for lunch!
Hidden inside the food court, this little Shanghai-style spot is an absolute gem! The owner is incredibly friendly and walked me through all of his specialties -- and I'm so glad he did. The lamb soup was a standout: super flavorful with tender pieces of lamb that melt in your mouth. The Shanghai soup dumplings were perfectly juicy, and the fried chicken wings were everything you want them to be -- crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. On top of the great food and warm service, the place is also dog-friendly, which is such a bonus. Definitely a spot worth checking out!
A Fun Food Court Find - Bao Chick! This little food court has all kinds of international eats -- definitely a spot I'll come back to try more places But today, I started with Bao Chick, and what a great choice! The owner (let's call him the Chicken Guy ) was super friendly -- he even gave me a free chicken tender to sample and chatted with me for a bit. Turns out, he's quite the talker and has a great sense of humor! He didn't know who "鸡排哥" (the Chicken Guy meme) was, but he speaks both English and Chinese, so we had a fun little bilingual chat I ordered chicken tenders, wings, and a fried chicken sandwich, and my kids absolutely loved them. My older one even asked if we could make it a weekly thing! The fried chicken isn't greasy at all -- just crispy outside, juicy inside, and super flavorful. If you like a kick, try it with their chili powder And here's the surprise -- they also serve soup dumplings and lamb soup! I even saw some locals ordering the dumplings. The xiao long bao were juicy and flavorful, and the lamb soup was rich and tender with no gamey taste at all -- I secretly finished it myself and didn't share with the kids The lamb was melt-in-your-mouth soft, and dipping it in chili sauce made it even better! Highly recommend checking out Bao Chick if you're in the area -- friendly owner, delicious fried chicken, and some unexpectedly authentic Chinese comfort dishes!
We wanted to go to HiroNori but the waitlist was an hour long. So we ended up coming to this food hall. It's very casual inside. A few tables and a few places to eat. We all got what we wanted. We had a sample of the chicken. The guy at the front is passing them out to everyone! Mine was cold but it was still pretty good so we ordered the chicken. They made it fresh so it took some time for the food to be ready. Came out piping hot! I also ordered the garlic aioli which went well with the chicken. The spicy dipping oil and powder were also great! Highly recommend! Will go back!
The chicken sandwich combo is pretty pricey at around $20 , but the portions are big and definitely filling. The food is super fresh, very crunchy, and juicy -- honestly worth it. Service was fast and really friendly, and there's plenty of seating. Overall, great quality and a solid spot if you're craving good chicken
Bao chick...such a great name...but makes me think of funky disco music...not food... Makes me think of a song....it goes... "Bao chick a bao wow"! I have been to this food court a few times now. This booth is interesting. They have tried to reinvent themselves a few times. But I know this...they try very hard to get you to buy. I have only purchased one item when I come here. Xiao Long bao Everytime I have been, it looks like they are hard at work making dumplings, so I am guessing they are hand made, but I can't be sure. The dumplings are good....solid! Not heavy on the soup. Definitely more juicy than soupy. The flavor is good and has enough taste to get it again The main positive factor on these dumplings is the price. This booth has done a great job at keeping the price fairly reasonable. I will be back to try the bao and the chick...but if you see me walking up, dont laugh if you see me dancing... "Bao chick a bao wow"!
Ordered the teriyaki sandwich, beer battered fries along with grilled pork baos. The latter two were absolutely delicious. Loved how perfectly crispy the fries were and flavorful the dumplings were. I was extremely disappointed by the chicken teriyaki sandwich, however. I saw the pool of lettuce/ chicken juice as soon as I opened the box and knew I was in for a disgusting mess. The sandwich buns were completely soaked and soggy. Just wet all around. Not sure how and what happened to it in such a short period of time before I left the store to sit down and eating. Parking is free and easy. The service was prompt and very friendly. There are seats inside and outside of the food hall type area. I wouldn't mind trying them out again based on the experience I had during pickup and quality of other products I got to enjoy.
Tried BaoChick back in Dec 2022 and had a great experience! However, I tried it again and my experience was a bit different. I'm thinking my experience was not as good perhaps because we ordered on Doordash. I'm thinking maybe the food would have been better if we got to eat it fresh. I tried the Original Chicken Sandwich, Nashville Chicken Sandwich, Garlic Parmesan Fries, and Grilled Baos with Pork. In terms of the sandwich, we found them to be a bit heavy and very greasy/oily. The crunch on the chicken was VERY GOOD and the chicken itself was tender/juicy. But it was hard to eat more than half of the sandwich as it was really heavy. I wish the Nashville sandwich was spicier too. The baos tasted pretty standard. The fries were good! I wish they were a bit crispier, but I liked the flavor! It reminded me of Potato Corner Overall, not my favorite crispy chicken sandwich! But I definitely think it would've been better fresh

Just Wow! Excellent crunchy chicken sandwich! Really! Perfect! I ordered Original Chicken Sandwich. It was juicy and crispy w/ lettuce & mayo. $12.00, plus I paid $6 for the deal of fries and soda. Lots of fries, pretty good taste and crispy edges. $19 all said and done. I'm not a fan of ordering on an iPad as the employee stands near you twiddling thumbs, but I guess it's the times we live. Otherwise, service was as expected, friendly. But, my order was ready much faster than anticipated. Bravo! First time to this "Food Court". Wish I knew more before arriving. Would have loved to eat the sandwich while slurping a beer at the pub area. Next time. Many of the restaurants /stands offer samples as you walk by. Love that! Found a couple bites so tasty I'll try a full meal from them. Everything is clean, new looking and sunny. It's an outdoor food court, inside. While I may try a couple of the other sandwiches before buying another one from Bao Chuck...I'll definitely be back next time I'm craving a chicken sandwich. Get the crab roe xialongbao and thank me later. So delish. Man behind the counter also gave me freebies: fried carrot balls (2 pieces), water to wash down my food, and a youtiao... with a ranch dipping cup (I think he just did the ranch for laughs but I still enjoyed it). Also got a pork and shrimp xialongbao but I'd pass on this one. May try their chicken sammy next time I visit. read more

We came here for the first time, very impressed with their home-made lamb soup, amazingly flavorful, aromatic, creamy white in appearance. My usually-critical-foodie husband gives it 5 stars. The server is super friendly and attentive. Definitely will be our go-to place! read more

AMBIANCE: Located at Irvine's Trade Marketplace right next to the airport, Chicciety is nestled among a lot of other restaurants in this "food court". I went during a weekday at lunch time so the place was busy, loud, and active. I didn't mind it but be warned that it can get busy especially the parking lot, which has a 90 minute time slot. Overall, a fun place to hang with friends and chat over some good food. FOOD: I went a little overboard with ordering but I figured why not haha. I ordered their Oreo King Milkshake, which was rich and creamy and came with a cute little shovel for a spoon. Next up was their Nashville Chicken Sandwich (mild) and this was massive! Crunchy exterior, sweet cole slaw but sour pickles so it was a nice balance. Overall, that was a big hit for me. I also ordered their Buffalo Wings which were decent. Nothing too special but their other version of wings, in this case, their White Garlic Wings - those were insane. Super crunchy and flavorful. Do yourself a favor and get those for sure! As a nice perk, they also have a lot of sauce options that come in a good size so try those out as well. SERVICE: I was helped by Luis who was helpful with any questions and just made me feel welcomed even during the busy lunch hour rush. This was a friends recommendation to try a spicy popcorn chicken. This chicken plaza is located in a plaza so plenty of parking but can be limited during their peak times. For those familiar with Steelcraft of Garden Grove...it's the same concept where a bunch of eateries are gather in one section so there's Thai, a bar, chicken place, vegan burger and desert option. This chicken place has wings, combos and variety of chicken options. They have 4 different levels of spice: mild, hot, spicy and danger. However, they don't do the danger anymore since they had a lot of complaints that it's too spicy. Seriously? You ask for danger and you know what's gonna happen so what do you expect I told the cashier that I'm not like the rest and won't complain since I know what I'm asking for. The cashier ask if it's ok with the cook and she confirm after like a minutue or so. So 25 cent extra so ok? Wait time is over 10 minutes and the so-called Danger popcorn chicken is here Was it worth it? No! Certain parts of the chicken is not cover in the powder. The chicken is hot and fresh. But wanted to try the level that many people complain about. My foodie friend who can't handle spicy anymore even says it's bland. He order the same thing but chose spicy (level before danger) and his friend got the spicy reaction from that. What the heck! Then get rid of the "Danger" if you are going to lie about it and saying you can't even make it Overall, don't recommend this place because they lie about the danger spice level. You have never seen a sandwich this big until today. I actually went back to the register and double-checked my order because I was SHOCKED. I ordered the Insane Chicken Sandwich which came with two huge pieces of chicken that I could barely hold it with two hands. I had to sadly deconstruct the sandwich before I ate it because it was physically impossible to take a normal bite out of it. I also ordered the Nashville Chicken Sandwich which was essentially the same thing except with one piece of chicken. They both came sandwiched between brioche buns and a good amount of slaw. The crispiness of the batter is so addicting because it adds a great crunch and holds all the spices and flavors. It reminds me of Korean fried chicken which is my favorite kind. The Honey Mustard Wings were fried the same way so every bite was crispy on the outside and juicy on the outside. It doesn't come coated in the sauce so you have to pour some additional sauce on your own if you want more flavor. I ordered the Nashville Chicken Fries which came loaded with onions, cheese, and grilled chicken instead of fried. That seemed kinda odd as a fried chicken restaurant but I didn't mind because the fries provided the crispiness and saltiness in its place. Be wary of the wait time though. I was told about it beforehand so I was okay with it but if you're hungry then you'll end up hangry. There's an outdoor and indoor dining area that's shared with nearby stores and parking is pretty spacious. read more

Theses dumplings were handmade and super tasty. They did come out piping hot and were fragile. They were better than any of the dumplings I've tasted at many places between here and Yorba Linda. Mi kid and I love soup dumplings and this is likely to become a regular stopping place. Delicious food! Oustanding service from the owner, kindly offered me a dumpling to taste before I ordered, the dumpling was incredible. I chose their chicken sandwich with thigh meat, another delicious menu item and large serving. I am a 6'3 man, about 7.5inch hand for comparison. The breading was divine as was the meat. Lovely atmosphere, to spend a summer afternoon meal here is a great way to use your time. I am happy to have found a new favorite spot, I will be supporting this place as often as I can, please do yourself a favor and dine here! read more
This fried chicken shop serves extremely crispy chicken sandwiches that you have to try in Irvine! They are located in the Trade plaza with many other restaurants around it. The workers are very nice in giving recommendations and they have very cute merchandise. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot and plenty of seating in the shared outdoor patio. Here's everything I tried: - Nashville Chicken sandwich w/ chicken thigh (hot): Apparently the hot spice level is only the second spiciest and I didn't think it was spicy at all. The chicken thigh was extremely juice and tender though and I really enjoyed the crispiness - Insane Chicken Sandwich w/ chicken breasts: this only comes in the Hell spicy level and I honestly thought it wasn't that spicy although I would say my spice tolerance is pretty high. My friend thought it was pretty spicy and her spice tolerance is really low. As expected, the chicken breasts weren't as juicy as the chicken thigh but what makes this sandwich insane is the two giant pieces of chicken they stuff into the sandwich. You definitely have to deconstruct it to get a good bite out of it. - White garlic wings: also very crispy and had decent flavor to it, although it doesn't have a strong taste of garlic - Garlic Parmesan fries: I definitely tasted the garlic in these fries, and they were a very solid pairing with the chicken sandwiches - Matcha Lover Milkshake: omg this was so good! I know they specialize in chicken sandwiches, but this milkshake was amazing! They give a cute shovel shaped spoon to eat the vanilla soft serve and a straw to drink the matcha slush. I definitely recommend trying out their shakes for a sweet treat Overall a solid spot for fried chicken sandwiches especially if you like it super crispy! read more

I still give them 4 stars because the chicken size was big and they have the grilled option with the Teriyaki which is rare to find at chicken sandwich places. This was the definition of serendipity. I was originally going to another restaurant nearby but the line was too long, so I decided to try this place out. The chicken sandwich turned out to be one of the best I've ever had. I got the Nashville chicken sandwich with thigh and "spicy" (it goes mild, hot, spicy, volcano) and a side of garlic Parmesan fries. The food took a bit of time to come out (20 minutes) but it was definitely worth the wait. The chicken thigh was crispy on the outside and super juicy inside. The Nashville sauce was flavorful, spicy, and slightly sweet. The coleslaw and pickles added a lot of flavors to the sandwich as well. The Parmesan garlic waffle fries were solid as well. I got garlic aioli to go with it and made it even tastier. They have plenty outdoor seating inside trade, perfect for enjoying some fresh air under the sun on a day off. read more

genuinely best crispy chicken i've ever had. the description is as accurate as reality. it's super crispy, meat is juicy, and flavored so well. it puts other fried chicken like Popeyes to shame. with how good it is, you'd think it's one of those spots in LA that have you waiting 2 hours for--except the wait here was so quick. the place itself is locally owned and can be found in a cute outdoor food court with lots of seating. i'm definitely returning here with friends and family to enjoy their chicken together! read more
Delicious chicken, great dumplings, and friendly service! We came by today for lunch with my family, all of whom wanted different things, so we decided this food court would be a great option. We shared the Insane Fries, Popcorn Chicken, and Pork Dumplings, and all of them were hot and delicious! The owner easily convinced us to order the dumplings by giving us free samples not just once but three times before we ordered! The chicken was really amazing and crunchy but still juicy. The fries were good, better than animal fries from In N Out in flavor and size. Overall, we were surprised how big every item was when it came out, definitely more than enough to share between 3+ people that we had leftovers. Such a tasty restaurant, the owner is very friendly and gave multiple samples to my wife and daughter. We tried the popcorn chicken, chicken dumplings and the loaded fries. All were big portions, shareable sizes and delicious flavors. The food did not take very long, owner was hand making dumplings and offered various sauces. The crispy white garlic chicken wings were very good. The coating, garlic sauce and onions were delicious. I thought there could have been more chicken underneath, but they are wings...i generally prefer boneless, so maybe it's just me. Staff was friendly and courteous. I had a ferocious craving for a crispy hot chicken sandwich today and this hit the spot. This was an incredible sandwich!! First off, it was practically the size of my face. There was literally chicken sticking out of both ends of the buns. The coating on this was insane, and so was the hot oil it was dunked in. It also came a delicious chili crisp and spice mix to put on top. The fries was super crispy but perfectly fluffy on the inside. This was a 10/10 foodie experience and I highly recommend it!! read more

This place is a sleeper gem. I tried it on a whim because I was in the plaza. There is a self-order kiosk outside which is convenient because the owner doesn't speak much English. However he is friendly and will chat (if you speak Mandarin). He gave me a free dumpling sample after I ordered. It tasted crisp although a bit cold since it had been sitting out. I ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich and garlic parmesan fries. The chicken sandwich is both "traditional" and not. It has a brioche bun, coleslaw, and aioli sauce like normal but the chicken itself is quite different in an Asian fusion sort of way. Quite juicy and crispy overall! The garlic parmesan fries were crispy and creamy inside. The parmesan is sprinkled on and, unlike other places, it doesn't taste artificial. read more

The XLB was so hot and in a super good way, havent had a true soup dumpling in a long while. Definitely like the way Din Tai Fung in Taiwan used to be. The texture and taste is sweet and nice, but not deathly sweet. The cashier is very friendly. Attentive to each order. The food court is hard to get seats but worth it. And really loud too but nothing to do with the place itself. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to eat at Chicciety for dinner and it did not disappoint! We decided to share the Nashville Chicken Sandwich and an order of the Insane Fries. I liked how you can have the option to choose either thigh or breast for your sandwich. We opt for the thigh option and it was so juicy. I loved how the chicken was crispy and it had fixings inside like the coleslaw and pickles. The garlic aioli was so bomb to dip my sandwich in too. The Insane Fries were just as yummy as the sandwich. The reviews were right and that they were massive! Def enough to share for sure. I loved how crispy the fries were and all the sauces that went on it. Overall, Chicciety is prob now my favorite chicken sandwich place to go too. I will def be coming back. The service was on point as well as the employees were super friendly and provided great recommendations on what we should try! read more
For those reading in the future, remember the Nashville chicken sandwich craze of the early 2020's? Well I'm living in it right now. I set out to try this place's chicken before I realized it was in the Trade "food hall" which has the most hellish parking situation in the universe. I previously swore never to come to any store or eatery here ever again after multiple visits where I was unable to find a parking spot. This time was just as frustrating as past experiences. Upon arrival I ended up just circling the parking lot for 20 minutes, unable to find a spot, so I left. There are about half as many parking spots as there should be! I returned for a second try only due to others' great reviews. Here I was again, searching for parking when, as if by miracle, someone pulled out on my second spin through the lot. I went to the counter and ordered an original chicken sandwich, asking for breast meat rather than thigh. They cook to order but in a short amount of time the woman who took my order waved at me and pointed at a bag on the counter indicating it was mine. I grabbed it as she nodded and off I went. As the tables in the crowded seating area were full I reluctantly took it to-go. Once home I saw that there was a box of fries in the bag as well as the sandwich. I wondered if fries automatically come with the sandwich and looked at the receipt stapled to the bag. uh-oh. I was given someone else's order. Sorry Huey, they gave me your order. The fries were oily but seasoned well and there were plenty of them. Very crispy outside and soft & hot inside. Pretty darn good. The chicken sandwich was still very warm and as I lifted it out of the box I noticed the pool of oil at the bottom of the box and how greasy my fingers immediately became despite the layers of paper between my hands and the sandwich. The chicken was thigh meat rather than the breast I wanted but no matter, I was feeling sorry for Huey at the moment. The chicken had a wonderfully crispy exterior coating with a little heat while the meat was moist and tender. The slaw and pickle added nicely to the flavor while the bun held steady throughout each bite. I used several napkins to hold on to the sandwich which quickly became soaked in oil; the messiest chicken sandwich I've ever devoured. I felt like I needed a shower when I was done eating. Even though it was the wrong order I enjoyed the food but my aversion to that parking lot would prevent a return. read more

Got a thigh chicken sandwich. It comes with slaw and some pickles. Louis gave me excellent service by recommending great sauces and satisfying my pickle urges, LOL! The fries were so fluffy and had some kind of crispy light batter on them. A super generous portion. I was able to eat about half then took the rest to savor and enjoy at home. Quality here to stay. Been back 4 times now. The soup dumpling's skin is thicker than I'm used to but is flavorful and yummy. 8/10 The fried baos will forever continue to be my fav. Deliciously juice and perfectly crisp. 10/10 read more

Yes. All of our wings are bone in. Most of them are crispy crunch style. Also we have teriyaki and buffalos wings are grill style.
