Only ate here because the line was shorter than the nearby places but ended up realizing it was a huge mistake since the service took FOREVER! How is that there is one person taking both orders AND making the food? Ridiculous. Also found the staff to rude. The cashier called out my number after making my sandwich and when I told her that it was mine, she seemed to doubt me and kept calling out the number. I ended up showing her the receipt which did in fact prove that that was my order and she finally gave me it. I know how to count thank you very much, so I didn't appreciate the attitude. I got a steak banh mi which was pretty mediocre. Definitely filling, but the meat was dry and lacked in flavor. Combination of lackluster meal, long waiting time, and rude service makes for a very disappointed customer. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else!

Steak baguette

Banh Shop was awful, there was a shortage of staff and when I got to the front of the line they were out of my order (it's later in the day, so fair enough considering it was a breakfast baguette). I change my order the steak baguette and it was absolutely foul. I opened it up to look at and was not impressed, took a bite and I knew I could not eat it. Thank god I had a meal voucher from Air Canada, otherwise I would have been sorely disappointed to have spent my money on the meal

$4.75 shrimp rolls

So happy that there is finally a reasonably priced restaurant in the T1 international departures level that doesn't just sell sandwiches. I would've loved to try one of their bowls but I wasn't too hungry, so I just grabbed a fresh shrimp roll for the flight. It was surprisingly very well made- nice touch with the cucumber wrap, soft rice paper wrap and not too much vermicelli. It came with a limey/fish oily/soy sorta dipping sauce. Friendly staff, would try again

Horrible.

If slow was a GAME... this place would win. Employees either ignore or move like snails. Food is 3x what it should or is worth. Skip it.

Chicken soup

This was a really bad option, there's not much to choose but I think I'd rather had a coffee and a muffin at timm hortons. I have a cold, so chicken soup Vietnamese style sounded like a good option except that here it tastes like water with a ton of sweet spices and fake chicken.

Breakfast street bowl

Had breakfast here since it looked like a warm one. Got the breakfast street bowl, which was already prepacked, so service was instant. The bowl was average. The "meatballs" were very sweet and salty, so good thing there was plain white rice to even things out.

Quite small portion of drunken noodles barely covered the bottom

Saltiest pad thai of my life. Just awful. Wanted something less greasy than a burger, but should've gotten a sandwich from Tim Horton's.

The flavours are on point. I went on a Thursday morning around 12pm and the place was so busy, all the seats in the dining area were already taken. It's also located in a nice little plaza with other restaurants to choose from like Z!Eats, Booster Juice, and Thai Express. I would say it's in a really good location where you could stroll around. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience here. I would say though that it is quite a bit expensive. The dumplings came with a salad that was basically just cabbage, so crunchy, no taste, no dressing, at all, like squeeze some juice/dressing of any kind, so no attention to detail here, at all, the chili chicken was great though, just wish I didn't three orders for a satisfying lunch, literally 3 x $5 was necessary for one person, so, good luck,

Every table was occupied when I arrived, and I was happy to chill out by the bar and look over the cocktail menu. Cool that they had a drink called Shanghai 75 since my friend was from there, bonus! The menu selections were expertly picked, of course, and gave a good sense of the theme of this Asian fusion food and how the chef thinks. Take a look at my pictures and set your sights on another 'Licious coming up for one of these fun events. Think of 'Licious as much more bold and light hearted way to enjoy some of Toronto's finest restaurants and see how well they work under pressure, which make these so popular and so much fun!

We tried their top chef curry roasted chicken and I can see why they won top chef! Meat is tender, skin is crispy and the curry! Goes real well with the chicken! Coconut rice cake was pretty good too! It's not like korean rice cake, tasted more like fa gao, giving it a nice texture. Char siu bbq duck with Peking garnish was pretty good too. I love how the breast meat has a nice balance of meat to skin, so its not too oily and it makes the meat tender too. Peking wrap was kinda cold, so that threw me off alittle. But overall its still amazing! Shrimp was juicy and tender, but nothing too wow about it. But good quality! The chef even came out to greet us and have a quick chat with us! That was a nice touch, service and ambiance is nice too!! Would totally come back for it again!

There's paid street parking on both sides of the street. I did read a review that there's complimentary parking behind the restaurant though. Mai Bistro has a small patio out front that's covered and indoor seating as well. We opted to sit on the patio. Since it was our first time at the restaurant the waitress explained the various menus to us. There was a written menu for Today's Specials and some of them were crossed out. I'm guessing that those items have already sold out. I saw a photo of the menu from a couple of years ago and in comparing with the menu from the other day I can see that prices have increased for some dishes. To me, prices veer on the higher side. The grilled lemongrass pork with rice and asian slaw was $22 and the shrimp ceviche with fresh salsa and avocado on a crispy tortilla was $11. My Vietnamese style pork tacos were a good deal for $10. Even at the regular price of $14 the price isn't too different from tacos at other restaurants. The pork was flavourful and portions are like what I found from food trucks in LA (but leave you wanting more).

The tuna and salmon tasted very fresh, and the sweet-spicy Korean-style sauce made the whole dish feel bright, refreshing, and really appetizing. I also loved the potato dumplings.. crisp on the outside, but soft and pleasantly chewy inside, with a very smooth texture. The arugula salad was a great complement and added a nice fresh balance to the meal. The real standout for me, though, was the kalbi. It was incredibly tender and full of rich flavor. It almost melted in the mouth, with that satisfying buttery, savory richness that meat lovers would definitely appreciate. The cocktails were also fun and well done. I tried a few, and all of them were enjoyable. Some even had a smoky presentation, which made the experience feel a little more special. The service was another strong point. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the dinner feel smooth from start to finish. Everything came out at a comfortable pace, and the overall hospitality really added to the experience. As for the ambience, it felt stylish, intimate, and a little moody in a good way. The lighting and presentation gave the dinner a polished feel, but it was still relaxed enough to enjoy comfortably. It's the kind of place that works well for a casual date night, drinks with friends, or simply a nice evening out.
