03. Grilled Pork / Thịt Nướng
Brianna E.

Needed a quick bite for lunch, and this place is perfect. They have a drive-thru window, so you don't even need to get out of the car to order. I don't normally eat Banh Mi; I usually don't crave it, but I decided to give this place a try and step out of my normal lunch routine. I got the grilled pork Banh Mi based on other people's reviews, and they were right, it's good! The meat is very flavorful, and the veggies added a nice crunchy freshness to the sandwich. The bread was soft with just the right amount of crispiness. It was so easy to bite! The sauce that came in the sandwich was good too, not too much. The jalapenos added a nice kick to the dish. Overall, a very well-balanced sandwich. They do not skimp out on the meat. I do wish it had a bit more veggies. So, if you like veggies, ask for extra! This place is also a boba shop that offers a variety of teas and coffees. To drink, I ordered a Lychee Green Tea. It was refreshing, and I like that they add pieces (or whole pieces) of lychee fruit to the drink.

Loved that they had a vegan option! Thank you so much!! Food and drinks were delicious. Staff was cordial. Small and cozy space.

I've been wanting to try this spot since they opened! And luckily, I discovered they deliver to me, so I ordered two banh mis--the grilled pork and the special. I liked the grilled pork slightly more because the bread on both were slightly stale and had a harder crust, that the softer grilled pork filling made the complimented the bread better. I'll definitely be coming here to try their other banh mi options and perhaps some of their drinks too!

#1 Special Banh Mi (dac biet) (held the head cheese) $6.95

They have a very simple menu - several Banh Mi sandwiches to choose from, and a couple of bowls (the bowls are pretty much the Banh Mi, minus the bread, but add an egg). The bread - VERY awesome, VERY fresh! We had the #1 Special Banh Mi (Dac Biet) but held the head cheese. The bread was very fresh, but the meat lacked any seasoning. The #8 Grilled Beef (Bo Nuong) was better - the toppings were the same, but the beef held the seasoning better. We also had the Lychee Green Tea - it was VERY tasty and sweet, but very expensive ($5) For those of you that are dining in, it is a very clean, up to date spot, but the seating is limited, and it's on the loud side.

As an Asian who has lived in San Antonio since 2005, I've been waiting so long for us to get a good bahn mi restaurant like the ones in Houston, Austin and Dallas and finally, I found it. The menu here is limited, which is fine because I want them to focus on bahn mi's, which they do. I love that the bread is soft but still has that nice crunchy texture bahn mi's are known for. And they use both pickled daikon and carrots, which should be the standard but many places in San Antonio only put in carrots. I ordered the grilled pork bahn mi and it was so good that I went back the next day and had another one. I live on the other side of town and it takes me 30 minutes, but I still made the drive. That's how good it was.

Nice, little cafe to pick up Banh Mi (Viet sandwiches). We stopped by for lunch on a Saturday after getting coffee. It's a very clean restaurant and wasn't busy at all. Didn't take too long to get our order, but we didn't order drinks this time. I always order grilled pork banh mis because I'm not a big fan of pate. The pork was flavorful and tender! The bread was a bit thick/hard, but that's somewhat expected with this type of sandwich. I'd come by again if I'm in the area! They also have a drive thru, so I might try that next time.

Loved the there was a drive thru! This was also my first time trying Banh Mi. It was very flavorful. I ordered the grilled beef banh mi and a lychee green tea with boba. Service was very fast. I will be returning.

The best part is they have a drive thru window; the sandwiches and boba teas come out pretty fast! They use fresh, high quality ingredients. I like that their packaging is clearly labeled. Service is friendly and they make sure to repeat your order before they put it in. I highly recommend the special and the egg banh mis!

I was so excited to find this place and have been searching for a Vietnamese sandwich shop in San Antonio for a while. It tasted really authentic and delicious. I tried the grilled pork and it did not disappoint. Also got the grilled beef, did not get a picture and already finished them. The drinks my new looks fabulous and iced Vietnamese coffee is the way to go. I did request for less sugar and it was perfect. The place is very spacious and clean. I can't wait to go back and try the classic and other sandwiches. I think the prices were fair, slightly higher, but worth it. It is quick service however they were very efficient. Also, had to note that the to go packaging is fantastic and neat.

Very delicious Banh Mi. Nice and clean shop with great food. Baguette was perfect and the sandwich was filled with fresh and fragrant vegetable. So good I had to get a second. Counter service with a smile. Give them a try. Pho is coming!

This is reminds me of San Jose banh mi shops, the most authentic banh mi spot I've had here in San Antonio. Blessed to have such kind service, comfy and clean seating, as well as easy to read menu. The bread is soft and fresh along with the veggies and well prepared meat.

I am afraid that I must change my review of Pho Kim Long. I am sad to do so because this was one of…read moremy favorite local restaurants for over a decade. However, my most recent encounter has soured me completely, and I think I will never return. My favorite dish here was something that did not appear on the menu, Bo Tai Chanh salad. Even though it was not listed, they would whip it up at my request. It consists of beef cappaccio on an iceberg lettuce salad with Vietnamese vegetables and a fish sauce based dressing. Tonight they refused my order. What makes this refusal all the more frustrating is that Pho Bo Tai Chanh (the soup version) is listed on the menu and promoted as one of the favorite dishes. All that was needed, to meet my request, was to cut up half a head of lettuce and throw the non-liquid ingredients of the soup on top. Every restaurant should remember the customer is always right. Their only purpose is to meet their customers' requests to the best of their ability. I understand when a kitchen cannot meet requests with the ingredients or equipment they have. For example, I always call 24 hours ahead to order Peking Duck because the traditional methods require that amount of time to prepare the dish. Or I remember being refused a request to have my meat served rare when the restaurant had already cooked all its meat to medium rare using sous vide. I don't expect the kitchen to do the impossible. But every kitchen must be ready to meet special request whether health related like peanuts, shrimp, gluten, salt, carbohydrates, etc. or relate to tastes or ethics like vegetarian, vegans, seafood, etc. To fail one's customers is the first step to being one of the numerous restaurants to fail and become irrelevant. Any restaurant that refuses to meet reasonable requests fails the fundamental test for good service and does not deserve to be patronized. P.S. I end up going down the road to Yaya's Thai Restaurant (another local restaurant) to get something that met my tastes and preferences.

Once we got sat we placed our orders and had food in front of us in 15ish minutes? It was great. The wings were delicious, you could throw the sauce on a tire and I'd eat it. The bowls were so refreshing and delicious and the pho was perfect. I can't wait to go back! Give this place a try, be aware the parkings tight, don't get overwhelmed or thrown off find the parking get inside and be ready for some amazing food from amazing people! Side note: everytime the older Vietnamese women came to clear our plates as we finished she told us good job for fishing our food and tbh it felt so warming and homey without thought

Firstly, we had trouble getting an uber at first and when I called the staff was very friendly and were able to hold the table a little longer which I appreciated. The menu is a mix of Asian Fusion small plates and I would have loved to have had more of a sampling of the menu but it wasn't that large of a party. The cocktails were not too sweet and perfectly balanced. The Fist of Fury was so refreshing and the Yuzu margarita was delightful! The plates come when they are ready and I have to say the food came really quick! All of it was fantastic! Surprisingly the shredded vegetable salad was amazing and one of my favorite dishes! The tamarind glaze on the Chicken Karaage was not overpowering and so tasty. The service was amazing and the vibes of the restaurant were a lot of fun. The bathrooms were down the stairs and there was a little bar off to the side. Would definitely go back! I couldn't stop talking about it the next day to anyone that would listen.
