I originally had a pet plan for my dog at around $50 per month, but suddenly, I started getting charged $75 instead. When we contacted customer service, they admitted it was an error and assured us they would correct it. They never did. The same overcharge happened the next month, and the next--each time, they claimed it was a mistake, but we were never refunded. Then, during an unrelated vet visit, they handed me a bag of prescriptions. Inside, I found flea prevention and dewormer--items I never requested or agreed to. That month, we were charged $75 again, and this time, customer service told us the increase was correct because our plan had been "upgraded" to include flea prevention and dewormer. Mind you, I never approved this upgrade. I buy these medications myself for much less and would never have opted in. On top of that, they had been charging us the higher price before ever providing these meds--then sneakily slipped them into our bag after the fact. When I asked for proof--anything showing that we signed off on this upgrade--they never provided it. We called the clinic every week for a month and a half, and every time, they promised to call back but never did. Three months later, after exhausting all options, we finally reached corporate, only to be told that there was nothing they could do since we had "received" the medication. This company needs to be investigated for fraud. And I won't even get into the quality of their service--except to say they clearly value money over actually helping your pet. I pay for a monthly wellness plan and they can't ever get my dog in. I never had problems with banfield in my old town. Last time I dropped him off I waited over 30 minutes for them to take him back and was late for work. Then when I came to pick him up and they called me to say he was ready they said oops they didn't check him out and I waited an hour for my dog. The doctor told me his teeth cleaning and getting teeth out is vital but they can't fit me in and can't even give me a guess on when they will. read more

Had to run one of our dogs in for a torn dew claw. I usually deal with the one on 29th and Willamette, but they couldn't get us in for a few days so called this one and they got us right in. Dr Krause did a super job explaining things and what she would do to fix our boy up and said it would only take 15 minutes. 15 minutes later, Viola! The level of care and skill here is what I get at our home Banfield and it was great dealing with the staff and Vet. You will be lucky to not spend at LEAST a hundred dollars++ of guilt, panic, and manipulation-filled care every. single. time. Second, the new drop-off system makes you believe that your 9:15 am visit (which I was told should take roughly 30-45 minutes) will mean absolutely NOTHING. We picked our dog up at 5:30 pm today. Appointments are meaningless and the doctor was "too slammed" to speak to us about our dog. What are we paying for, really? Don't ever take your dog to this place. If you do, don't take your wallet. I took a healthy happy dog in there for a simple check up. I was interested in their wellness plan. I was quoted a price of $60 for the initial visit and $50 a month thereafter. I conducted a simple blood test. At the end of the visit I told them I was not interested in the wellness plan. Because I was not signing up for the wellness plan, my bill for the day went from $110-$511. They're only justification for this was that that blood test would have been cheaper on the wellness plan. I will never go back to Banfield pet Hospital. Unfortunately, as a result I will also never go back to Petsmart who endorses them. My dog has a wellness plan with banfield. I called the main office to see if I could move one of his payments to the end on his contract because I had fraud on the card used to pay his plan. I explained what happened. They said that there was nothing they could do. It's sad that this company as crappie as they are help so many people. You think that they would have better customer service. Very rude on the phone and just don't care, very sad. If I could give zero stars I would. this place is disgusting and have neglected my cats in their care and did THIS to my coworkers dog when coming in for a bath and groom. They detached his teeth from his gums by poking and hitting him with a metal pole because he was scared, which resulted in a $2,000 surgery (keep in mind, all they had to do here was call back the owner and ask them to come pick him up). My dog had been on their Wellness Plan for several years. In the last 6 months her health had been declining, as she was almost 11. Her health deteriorated very quickly over the last week. I realized she was unlikely to recover, & called first thing Saturday am to discuss euthanasia. The party that answered told me they could schedule a Drop Off Appointment (!!!), but an In-office visit wasn't available for another 2 weeks. To even suggest a drop off appointment to a client calling in distraught over the inevitable loss of her pet is horrifying. Clearly, they have not only lost my pet as a patient ( we were able to have her euthanized peacefully & painlessly, with us together as a family), but our other dog will never be visiting any Banfield location again. read more

I was on the puppy plan and making my monthly payments. Well I never received any phone call. I decided to call and check in once again and see how things were looking for surgery. I was told they were doing them again! I was a little upset I never got a phone call but went ahead and scheduled her apt. Then I find out I have to pay out of pocket of the surgery because the puppy plan was over. Which I knew and I have been paying still for the adult plan. I feel because of covid canceling my dogs spay I should have been allowed to get her taken care of! I rarely do negative posts, but here's one: our cat is in heat so we set an appointment at Banfield Animal Hospital in Petsmart on Chad drive for 12:30pm. We put a harness on her, hoping she would be more calm during the ride. Well turns out she was freaked out & scratched Jade like crazy. So I grabbed the cat box. When we got there, I wiped off the cat box & we put her in it so she wouldn't scratch the shit out of us & them. We get to the counter at 12:33pm. She made a face & said we were late. She called back & said the 12:30 was here. She then said the Vet canceled because we were late. She asked if we wanted to reschedule for the next day. Ya fuck that! The 3 of us were not missing work & school but we very well could have been. The thing that upsets me is we traumatized our cat for no reason. I felt real bad for her. So now we are starting over. I am never stepping foot into that shithole again though! read more

I find that having pets is a lot like having children. You bathe them, you feed them, you love them, and you take care of everything for them. There are nightmares for parents just as there are for pet owners, and when something bad happens Banfield is there to serve your pet's needs. And the one night in which my pet was extremely ill and needed emergency treatment, Banfield was there to minimize the pain and my incredibly bad headache. The trouble with pets (and kids sometimes) is you have no idea what they put in their mouths. One night my cat ingested something that made him practically lifeless, a quick chat with a nurse at Banfield lead me to their facilities in the dead of the night. They were extremely professional and worked on my cat on the spot. My roommates and I were concerned but they did a good job of keeping us updated and explaining the issue. And just when I thought my poor pet was a goner, the vet was able to tell us that he would be fine. Eventually my cat had to stay overnight for observation, but in the end, his life was saved. The bill came and let's just say I've had car payments that were cheaper. Too bad the universal healthcare bill doesn't include cats and dogs. read more

Now would you make an appointment with a doctor knowing that you may have to sit in the little office for 2 hours. NO. Now I have to sit at home, getting nothing done, waiting for a call. After waiting for 2 1/2 months to have my large-breed dogs neutered, Banfield informed me I had to bring the dogs in for a pre-op consultation because they haven't been in since April. This pushed the surgery all the way into March. No, the consultation couldn't be done the same day. No, they could not find me an appointment before the scheduled surgery. The receptionist Misty tried very hard to provide the best customer service possible. The office manager, Pam, simply tried to shame me, letting me know she was "sorry I didn't care about the health and safety of my pet." She admitted the oversight was their fault, that the scheduler "missed this detail." But there were absolutely NO attempts to try and make it right. She was unwilling to ask one of her doctors to find a 30-minute window to see my pups because she "values their work/home life balance." I called three local animal hospitals. NONE of them require pre-op consults for neuters when they have seen the animal within the previous year. My bill would have been close to $1000. Way to manage your office, Pam...by losing money. read more

STAY away from this place! By all means take your animal somewhere else where the vets and nurses actually care about animals and not just making money! My boyfriend came in here to get a first check-up for our 10 week old french bulldog. ALL we wanted was a check up and that's all I said when I made the appointment. We first get there and walk into the room and before we could even say "Hi, how are you?" the nurse began pushing their wellness program on us. I had asked about future vaccinations for our puppy to get her opinion and how long it would be before he needed anything else. He had already gotten his 6 week and 8 week shots. I had a form filled out by the breeder we bought him from, someone we trust very much and is very reputable in California. She immediently told us that because those shots weren't given by an actual vet that they didn't count and he would have to start over. This was NOT okay with us and we told her that we didn't want to get any shots today and wanted to discuss things with our breeder first. She left the room for about 5 minutes before the actual vet came in and my boyfriend and I turned to each other and said "we have to find somewhere else for him". When the vet came in the nurse followed with ALL of the shots she told us he needed and automatically began to fill the syringes up... AFTER we stated we didn't want anything today. The vet assessed our puppy and began to tell us he was very healthy and good looking for his breed, BUT then at only 10 WEEKS told us about all the reconstructive surgery he was going to need to help him breathe better later in life. He's a french bulldog, we already knew that his breathing was going to be different from other dogs, that's just the breed. Why would you tell us he needs his all these sugeries when he's so young? It was so incredibly awkward and felt SO forced. Through ALL of this they pushed the wellness progam on 10 more times. After the appointment we went right home and talked to our breeder. He then advised us to never go back and sent us a consumer report on Banfield with all their reviews... almost every single one was 1 star, wishing they could give 0. Not a single good review. I will never go back to this place and I would never ever reccomend it to anyone. These people don't care about animals, they just want your money. read more

I took my new kitten in for a comprehensive exam and because he has had some loose stools since I adopted him. How many of my questions about his diet, types of food, possible causes etc were answered? 0, NONE! How many plugs did get for their "Wellness Plan" 6. And I was forced to watch a video. And given a pamphlet when I had made it clear the first 3 times they offered that I was not interested. What a joke. They took my cat to the back to do the treatment of for ear mites and all I could here was the poor cat freaking out and the tech yelling "Stop, Stop, Stop" Pretty unnerving, and while I'm sure working with a stressed out animal is difficult yelling isn't going to calm one down, nor is it professional. I was told they administered the ear mite meds and the dewormer in the back, but how am I to know if they even treated him at all? I was near tears when I left and got one more push for the Wellness Plan while I was paying almost 100 bucks for ear mite treatment, ear cleaning, and dewormer, the first office visit is free. I'm upset that my cat was treated poorly, feel like I got ripped of and don't trust that the services I paid for were actually provided. I will NEVER take another pet here, nor will I support Petsmart who endorses them. $$$ is the bottom and only line here, not the health and well being of your pet. I will shop local non chain pet supply stores from now on and find a private vet who cares more about treating my pet not selling me a pointless plan I said over and over I wasn't interested in. read more

I was referred here by petsmart, where I was buying dog food with my puppy and, inquiring about rat first aid. I waited for 5 minutes where two nurses/receptionists drank mcdonalds coffee and chatted, while a veterinarian attended to another client. I was not greeted in any way, nor smiled at once. The man there, coffee in hand, said put your dog on the scale. Gesturing, but not looking at me. I wasn't entirely sure if he was talking to me so I didn't respond. He looks up at me "I said get your dog on the scale!" He said with obvious tone and expression. (Very rude) I said I'm actually not here for me dog. I'm here about a rat; she might have an infection. Silence. The dr had finished with her client and turned to me, "if your rat isn't here then I can't proscscribe anything or tell you what to buy." Which was confusing to me, why are they located in petsmart but are not to suggest products in the store? I was really upset at this point and just said okay and left. Nobody said "good bye, have a nice day or even, sorry we couldn't help you." Very disappointed with my whole experience today. read more

I had a great experience. It did, admittedly start with a not-so-great experience, however the team leader Kylie swiftly resolved the problem and handled myself and my pet personally upon our return. She was kind and accommodating and made sure all of our concerns were addressed. Her conflict resolution skills were above and beyond and we greatly appreciated her efforts. The vet we saw, Dr. Krause, was very nice and good with our pup. She was a true professional and explained potential issues we may have (with our pug) down the line to make sure we were aware. This is my third dog to have on the wellness plan and my fiancé's second and we are pleased. You pay a nominal monthly fee for the year and all the basics are included. It's a great way to start off your pet's health. It's a bummer that other people don't take the time to have their issues resolved because the team at Banfield in Eugene is outstanding even if they don't get it exactly right to start. Definitely give them an opportunity to be your pet care provider. read more

This place I absolutely awful. I have been to several vets in town including willamete animal hospital and west 11th animal urgent care. I had to wait 90 minutes to be seen. My cat had an upper respiratory which I knew from using google and assessing his symptoms. Ted treatment should have cost 70 but they tried to upsell me on everything including new food. Wanted me to spend 300 instead of 70. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO MY WORST ENEMY!!! I set up an appointment for my cat to get his eye checked out. The vet didn't seem to know what it was and just said that she could prescribe steroids. I told her I was going to wait a week or two to see if it cleared up then I would check back with her. She said the steroids would be available if it didn't clear up. I called them about it and they said that I would have to make another appointment to do the same damn thing so he could have a prescription. I ended up telling them that I wasn't willing to pay another $50 for the same appointment a second time. read more

While I am primarily a Dr Coker patient, my pets that is, each vet that has seen one of my animals was terrific. We started a wellness 0lan for our dog because it was explained to us that check ups would be included. We still had to pay for visits and every 'standard' test. There were even inaccuracies in test results between what we say on our account and what we were told in 0erson. It took us over 6 months to get the plan cancelled, which involved numerous phone calls and over 5 hours on hold just to get to the person who could actually cancel the plan. My advice DO NOT GET A WELLNESS PLAN. The only wellness there is with the plan is to Banfield's profits. read more

Stay away from this place. They mis-diagnosed my dog, and almost had me put him down. They charged us an arm and a leg for "blood work" and then didn't even know what to do with it. My daughter was very upset. Luckily a friend of mine who works for another vet asked for the lab work. After he saw it, he said there was no way for that diagnoses to be correct. Our baby is now on the way to recovery, it will be a long slow road, but he's alive and getting better. read more

Made an appointment specifically to get CVI papers for traveling, and made sure to tell them that when we made the appointment AND called before we got there to make sure they could do that for us. But when we got there, oops, they ran out. But they can make an appointment at a place farther away for the morning that we leave on our trip. Absolutely ridiculous. But we have no other choice than to go to that appointment and HOPE they actually can do what we need. So unprofessional, will never go to this place again. read more

I brought my dog in for a wellness check up as I had just adopted her about a week prior and just wanted to establish care. I was set up with Dr. Vander Broek. I felt like she did a good job at ensuring my dog was comfortable with her before providing any care. She was informative to me about what she was recommending and why and also was honest about what was and wasn't important to have done. I didn't feel like they tried to upsell me random things. The assistant was also informative and non judgmental. The waiting area was just me, my dog, and another woman. I didn't feel over crowded and my dog felt comfortable. I didn't have the same experience others are describing in the waiting area. I had a coupon on my phone for a free exam and they didn't let me use it because I signed up for a wellness plan. She was looking for another coupon at their front desk and didn't find one. That wasn't explained to me very much so I don't understand why I couldn't use the coupon I had and it was disappointing, but it wasn't too expensive. I paid $86 for a vaccine, a wellness plan start up, the visit, and some medicine. read more

After 15+ years of Banfield we have parted ways. The front desk staff do not conduct themselves in a professional manner mainly (April) after several dealings with her over the years and her short rude demeanor we had enough. We made 2 attempts to resolve one with her another with her supervisor, April simply hung up on us and her supervisor was rude and didn't want allow us to complete a statement. They took no accountability for the staffs actions not a simple we apologize for an escalated situation that could have been approached differently would have sufficed. Dr. Below is wonderful and she is what has kept us there over the years, but the lack of customer service is beyond acceptable. We homed 2 of our Frenchies and the new owners refused to go back as well for the very same issues. Move on there are other facilities available that will treat the public in a professional manner and give loving care to your pet. read more

I have always been leery of Banfield but they were the only non-emergency vet open when my kitten was sick on the weekend so I brought him in. The vet and vet tech were very friendly and took good care of my poor guy, and thanks to a "first visit free" coupon my bill wasn't outrageous either. Unfortunately the people who work there seem to be trained as salespeople first and animal health care professionals second, so it's hard to know whether they're recommending treatment options because it's in your pet's best interest or because they have a fancy machine to pay off. If I have another Sunday emergency this will probably be the place I go, but I definitely won't be bringing my cats to Banfield on a regular basis. read more

Wow, I am surprised by all the bad reviews of Banfield. I really like their veterinary services and I wouldn't consider taking my dogs anywhere else. I have two small dogs and they both needed dental cleanings...badly. I had taken them to several vets in town for estimates on the cleanings and every time the bills were running $500-$1,000 per dog. That is just out of my budget. I called Banfield and they talked to us about the wellness program that everyone else on yelp is annoyed by. It saved us thousands. We got the dental cleanings 100% free, the vet visit was 100% free, and both dogs are getting their vaccinations 100% free. Okay so 100% free is not exactly true. In exchange, we pay $50 a month per dog for 1 year. I'm unbelievably happy. I could not have afforded their vet care otherwise and the vet that we have our dogs with is patient, kind, and has a great sense of humor. She never pushes anything on us that we would have to pay extra for. On top of that, I had an appointment today at 3pm, but was already at PetSmart at 12:30 to pick up a dog from grooming (which was awful) and they saw the dogs early so that I didn't have to come back. It was no problem at all and they were extremely gracious about doing it. I know there are a lot of bad reviews, but I can't really understand why from my experiences. For our family, this is much cheaper than the other vets in Eugene/Springfield and our vet is wonderful. I couldn't be happier. read more

Unfortunately, I brought my pets here for years. Never really liked them, but they were open Saturdays and they were in my area. I'd been to other vets in previous years, and I never especially cared for any of them, so this place didn't seem worse than the others, but it certainly was not better. They don't seem to care at all- you and your pet are just a another transaction to them. You might occasionally be assigned to a pretty good vet, but I rarely saw the same person twice. The final straw was when my cat was unwell. He wasn't doing anything alarming, but he was just not quite right and I was concerned. Even though I had been coming by here for about 5 years they wouldn't or couldn't squeeze us in for several days. They weren't even nice about it, and they didn't offer to let me know if someone cancelled. When I explained that I felt he needed to be seen sooner they nonchalantly said to take him to the emergency clinic. If you've ever been there you know it's incredibly expensive and I really can't afford that when it's not even an emergency. They simply didn't care at all - not about me, my cat, or my continued business with them, and their rude attitude made it clear. I called around all over town and one veterinary clinic way out in Pleasant Hill was willing to squeeze my cat in even though they had never seen us before. I received such great service at the Pleasant Animal Hospital that I now take all of my pets there, even though I don't live in that area. Good bye Banfield! read more
