I've been wanting to try BamBū since I passed by their chain in Atlantic City a few weekends ago. Was busy and didn't get the chance to try before leaving but glad I was able to find one locally here. I ordered the BamBū favorite and my friend got the smashed avocado dessert drink. Seeing the amount of toppings inside I was afraid that BamBū favorite might be too overwhelming but to my surprise, it wasn't too sweet and all the fun textures inside kept making me go back for more. My friends smashed avocado drink was very fresh, unlike any avocado smoothie variation I've had before. You can taste that they used real avocados, a lot of it and I always really appreciate when dessert places incorporate the actual ingredient in their flavoring instead of relying on artificial syrups or powders. Then we also split a pandan waffle and I got a box of macarons to-go. You might not be able to taste much difference in the pandan flavor but the Mochi-like texture of the waffle made it extra yummy especially when it's still kinda crispy on the outside, hot off the grill. Also the macarons were good, especially matcha and honey lavender but I have a weird taste for floral/fragrant flavors so might not be everyone's thing...definitely have friends who think those flavors are nasty but to each their own. read more

2/9/22 On 2/4/22 my wife and I happened to stop by this business, because of a wrong turn made by me. This business did not have a lot of customers in the shop when we arrived. In fact, the one person I did see in the shop could have been an employee on his lunch break. Whatever the case is, there were a lot of drinks to choose from. I don't remember what my wife ordered, but when I was considering getting something like, pear, peach or mango, I learned a milk product is made with the drink. The guy working the counter said he can't make the drinks without the half and half product. I find milk product in my slushie drink to be a bad idea. Since I couldn't get water in my drink of choice instead of milk, I decided not to get anything. I did notice this restaurant had seating areas where you sit talk and play foosball or play some kind of card games. I noticed a big screen tv showing The Olympics (Olympic Games Beijing 2022 February 4, 2022 - February 20, 2022), but I will rewatch it later on. I did see cartoon characters like Spongebob ice cream and other items that one might find in a Good Humor Truck. There was also some Asian style ice cream I am not familiar with. There is one arcade machine in the corner near the bathrooms. The game I believe is called Centipede. This machine might have the function to play other games too. The floor of the place has some designs carved into the floor. Not sure if this was already there when this business took over, or it was done when this store opened up. Whatever the case is, it looks nice. My wife bought a drink and the guy made the drink in the kitchen area. I am use to seeing drinks get made out kn the open so one can see what is being put in the drink. This experience was not the case and my wife told me the drink had a funny taste to it. She later felt strange after drinking the drink. She did not finish the drink and she has no intention of ever going back here. I was craving for che so we came here to check this place out. We ordered the fruit addict che and it came with a lot of ice on the top and milk. As soon as we left the place, I mixed everything up and tried it to see what it tasted like. The milk in the che was not sweet and tasted watered down. There was barely any toppings, such as the fruit and jellies. For every bite of toppings you got, you would get like 3-4 spoonfuls of milk afterwards. I loved the toppings though, particularly the pandan jelly and ruby pearls. By the time we got to finishing the rest of the che after dinner, the flavoring was so diluted because all of the ice had melted. Also, I wish that they had bigger spoons. Cute little spot! Parking can be a bit of a hassle as it shares a small lot with Kogiya next door and some beauty school upstairs. But if you can get a spot it's worth it! I've brought my 5 year old son here with me a few times and he loves being able to see and read the HUGE photo menu on the wall so he can pick what he wants. He typically will pick a real fruit smoothie with boba and I'll go for the fruit addict che. I've tried a few different chés and appreciate the descriptions on the menu cause otherwise I would never know what anything is. My favorite is the fruit addict which reminds me of Filipino halo halo without the ice cream. I just really love palm seeds! The interior is super relaxed, couches in one corner with some foosball and a few games at the other tables so you feel welcome to hang out and relax for a bit. read more

My friend is Vietnamese American and she highly recommended their triple layer delight (second picture) and it was amazing!! He was craving an avocado smoothie and Bambu popped up as an option. Located in a super tiny area in Annandale with limited parking, Bambu has a simple yet welcoming interior and offers an appealing menu. I ordered of the Ché menu and got myself a Summer Delight. My drink was packed with goodies like red tapioca, coconut milk, grass and pandan jelly and mung beans. I also loved that my drink wasn't overly sweet. Che's are basically a Vietnamese take on a slushy! What makes them amazing are all the cool toppings and ad-ons! Most of them I've never heard of before, but they are mostly jellies in different shapes. I always ask for coconut milk instead of coconut water because I love the creaminess of it! From Vietnamese Che dessert drinks to milk teas, smoothies and more, you are sure to find a flavor for everyone and whatever suits your mood. They even sell macarons! Service is fast and friendly and no issues so far. The interior is classy and offers plenty of tables to work with a laptop or just to chill. Bambu is usually the place I go to if I want some Vietnamese desserts (Chè). Make sure you try the pandan waffle, it is super good, and it's very chewy texture. I usually get #1 choice on the menu for the drink. If you don't know what chè is, it's basically a drink with a bunch of sweet viet dessert topping. Personally I really like the green pandan jelly and the coconut juice. I tried the coconut milk and it is a little on the bland side. You get a lot of toppings compare to other places like buying boba tea and it's the same price, but they do put a lot of ice on top. You can also request the ice separately but the drink will seem less. The items here aren't overly sweet so if you're into semi-sweet item, this is the place for you. The price here is pretty average ($4-6)/drink. Before covid, they have a seating area with a bunch of games that you can play, so that could be a good hangout place for you and your friends. They make the drink pretty fast and they also have a reward system so make sure you put in your phone number to get those points to redeem for free stuff! Overall, I would definitely come back to get some chè (Vietnamese dessert drink). read more

Was taken back by the sign that said you had to pay a $10 minimum to charge on the card but the guy at the front let it slide. Mochie, Macaroons and Tea all under one roof (score)! Took 5-8 minutes for a drink. In comparison to a Kung Fu Tea franchise (maybe because you can see people make the drinks) time goes quicker but just waiting for your drink with nothing to distract your mind, made it feel like forever! Dedicated parking spot, fast preparation of drinks. Think it's kinda unfair when reviews compare this place to boba joints .... It's not a standard boba joint. The specialty is Vietnamese Che so maybe get that and don't compare it to things that aren't that? I think it's a welcome addition to Annandale's food/bev scene. Generous portions. I got the #10 Bambu Favorite but my mom got the Coconut one (forget the exact name, coconut lovers or coconut ... I don't know, it's on the menu though), and I actually kind of liked hers more. The Bambu favorite was creamy and a little too sweet for my taste but the coconut one wasn't creamy and was more refreshing. But I liked the textures of the jelly in the Bambu favorite more than the textures in the coconut one (lychees and such). Either way, liked it! I used to go to BAMBU at Eden and order the smashed avocado che and suddenly had a craving for it. I knew that there was one in Annandale so I went with my mom to check it out. First of all, this place is super nice and spacious! Like, it probably has the nicest interior of any dessert place I've ever seen. Right as we walked in, a guy comes out and asks us what we want to order. We were still analyzing the menu so he takes out his phone and browses on it right in front of us. I mean, it would be nice if he offered some suggestions but I guess. Deciding not to order anything else but what I came here for, I ordered the smashed avocado che after awkwardly getting the guy's attention away from his phone. Yeah, it's not the same. It was basically eating a plain avocado packed with a lot of ice and random bits of boba and jelly. I wish it had more condensed milk to add more sweetness. Definitely wish it had less ice also. Really love this drink place. Had a lot of different variety of drinks. The number 1 and number 10 are the favorites. My favorite thing of all is the "pandan jelly" which is an add in. It's so chewy and yummy! Love their smoothies, too! Had the mango and strawberry and you could taste fresh fruit in both. Everything is made to order so can take a couple minutes for drinks to be made but well worth it. Also, if you get more than 5 drinks I believe you get a free pandan waffle. Not sure why it's not advertised, they only say something if you ask. read more

YUM YUM YUM! Bambu is my go to spot for consistently delicious boba tea, che (Vietnamese dessert), macarons, and my favorite pandan waffles! So thrilled that the managonada smoothie is on their menu! Not many cafes have it around the DMV area. The pandan waffle texture is different from the typical waffle. I believe it's made from rice flour and tapioca starch, creating that chewy texture inside. It's similar to the banh bo nuong (Vietnamese Honeycomb Cake). I get the waffle every visit and absolutely love it! The cafe is spacious and nicely decorated. It's a great spot for date night, meeting up with friends, or just a quick boba run. Kogiya is right next door too! I always have a pleasant experience with everything. I love this place! Whenever I come here I can never order just 1 drink, I have to get drinks for my family too! I usually get the bambu special or the bambu favorite. I've also tried their smoothies, Sugar Cane, and pandan waffles. Their drinks are pretty sweet itself because of the fruits but this ice cold drinks are the best for the summer heat. If you're new to chè, I would recommend the bambu special because it's "basic" and won't scare you with too much flavor or texture. Otherwise you can get their smoothies too Employees here are always nice. If you're planning to drink it later, ask for ice on the side and bring it home to mix it together. read more

It's located next to Kogiya and for us Kogiya fans we know how hard parking can be. There are designated parking spaces for Bambu customers. It was early so there was plenty of parking. Very inconsistent. 2 stars because there have been times I've had good bubble tea and Che from here but it's 1 out of 4-5times. My boyfriend would love going here so we would come by often but it's only good when certain people are working. The last time we went, we threw away 3 large bubble teas because we just couldn't drink them. They had no flavor because they were watered down and not sweet at all. I pretty much order the same thing every time-- milk tea or the matcha green tea bubble tea, and I've had it be delicious and also where I can't wait to throw it out. This is my favorite place to go if I'm craving macarons or Vietnamese Che. One of my favorite macaron places in Annandale, hands down (love the rose lychee macaron). For Che, I recommend #10. I initially thought this place just had bubble tea, but there's SO MUCH MORE! They also have macaroons and of course I had to try as many as possible. The macaroons here are thicker than a typical one you might see at Laduree (they're honestly like little cookies). The flavors are varied and interesting, my favorites were the Rose Lychee and Earl Grey. I also got a Mangonada. The small size was pretty big! The flavor was dynamic in that it was a little sour from the chile/lime, sweet from the mango, and overall refreshing being a frozen drink. I want to come back to try some of the ches--there are so many options and they all look good! The inside is spacious, there's a lot of seating to accommodate small groups of people. It's aesthetically pleasing and appears as a hip space to enjoy a snack/dessert. Would recommend popping by! read more

First, can you take a look at the attached picture and tell me is that a fruit tea or a milk tea? I ordered a strawberry MILKTEA and they gave me this. When the guy brought it out to me, I told them I order MILKTEA not regular tea. He told me that is milktea. So I was like ok, sure, maybe I'm colorblind. I took a sip and there definitely NO MILK flavor in there. I told him again and he kept saying it's milktea. I was really disappointed and I just dont want to make a big fuss about this so I left with my strawberry "milktea". If he told me they made it wrong or they're out of milk tea then I'd be fine to have the drink but he kept insisting that he right, that made me really upset. And yes, I agreed with review that this place is more expensive than most dessert drink around. So I only suggest you to have the "chè" dessert here but no other drinks. read more

I thought it was so sweet that it's clearly a family business -- his daughter was behind the counter helping call out order numbers. So cute! I've always loved the che drinks from BAMBU, and was ecstatic that after the Eden Center location closed, another one opened in nearby Annandale! Unsurprisingly, the actual drink I got was great. I got the BAMBU Favorite, loaded up with grass and herbal jelly, sweetness, and ice on top. So, so tasty! This location does seem to offer a bit more of an extensive menu than your average drinks-only BAMBU as well. I'm looking forward to returning and trying some food here! read more
