UPDATE: owner is rude!!! Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience and for the wait READ BELOW!!! Could've just said sorry and kept it moving. Definitely will NOT be returning I came here for some Vietnamese coffee and macaroons, coffee was OK I asked for less ice and they barley gave me any as well as over filling the drink which caused a spill in my car. The macaroons are larger than other macaroons I've had in the area but they are ok as well. The experience was ok, nothing spectacular. Waited 20 minutes for an iced coffee and 3 macaroons which is ridiculous. Granted this place is new but still... read more

Perfect for summer! Super refreshing che's. I'm so excited that Bambu finally opened here in VA. On my San Francisco trips, I try to jam in Bambu visits. Number 1 is my favorite. It has basil seeds, pandan jelly, logan, and fresh coconut meat. It's paired in a sweet but not too sweet syrup with crushed ice. Basically the perfect summer evening dessert. read more

So there used to be a BAMBU in Eden center, which i wasn't a huge fan of. I'm not sure if they're the same owners but the old one was pretty stingy and I just didn't appreciate the lack of customer service. After seeing a new BAMBU location opened in Annandale, I decided to give it a try and I was happy I did. Parking lot is pretty small so it's not ideal for a huge party, probably better off making a quick stop. I got the BAMBU special (#1) That comes with Logan, pandas jelly, basil seeds, fresh coconut in coconut water. It's so refreshing, however I substitute Logan for lychee and I like it much better. They didn't give me a hard time nor charge me an extra $1 for this (which makes no sense) They have a really big menu, more than just Che (Vietnamese desserts) so i would definitely come back to try more. read more

Wow, I've never experienced the feeling of having any type of chè at the tip of my fingers. Not only do they have chè, but they have smoothies(like the one pictured), mochi ice cream, yogurt, and milk bubble teas. I can't wait to try it all! read more

I am not a big fan. A lot of drinks I have tried here have been very water down. They also tend to get drink orders wrong. Two people in front of me asked to send their drinks back and then I had to as well. I have visited four times now, each time coming with an open mind but have been let down each time. I wish them the best but they will need to improve a little more if they want to keep up with the countless other dessert options in Annandale. read more

Love this place. Especially the Hispanic man that works most often by himself. He makes the drinks the absolute best. Occasionally some asian guy or woman will be there and u cringe when they make it as its jot as good. Lol. I've actually left when I see the Hispanic guy isnt working. So in really u guess what I am saying is that the dependency of how good this place is relies on one employee which I would give it 5 stars. When the asian employees are there ingive it 3. We have always loved the Bambu location in Eden Center, Falls Church, so we were so thrilled to see a shop next door to the restaurant we were dining at for some sweet dessert afterwards! A very darling shop indeed, from bubble tea, to Vietnamese dessert cups, to flavored fro-yo's. We came with our family after dinner on New Year's Day and also had the opportunity to enjoy multiple foosball and connect 4 games here. Overall a very fun place to visit for some desserts, to gather with some friends, or simply to read a book alone while satisfying your sweet tooth. read more

Not very good. Everything we got was gross that none of us finish the drinks. Lychee tea was way too sweet. The Thai tea had a strange after taste. The Mochi ice cream was good. But probably won't be back. read more

My favorite drink place so far (I officially abandon milk tea now). I had a choose your own- Coconut water Red topioca Pendan jelly Coconut meat Basil seed Taro (taste good but didn't really go well with the rest. I won't add taro next time) Only thing is that the clerk didn't have a list of toppings for me to choose so I have to go with my friends choice. It'd be nice if they have a list somewhere. I've never tried Chè before but was pleasantly surprised. I usually go for Boba but the employee swayed my option as I had asked for recommendations to get out my comfort zone. She was very helpful in my decision to go with the Bambu special since I love coconut flavor. Flavor was great and aesthetic presentation 10/10. Will be back for more! read more

BAMBU is my to go whenever i crave something a bit more heavy and unique from the usual boba tea. Love the avocado coffee drink, didn't think i'd like it so much, but definitely a unique kick to the tastebuds, in a very good way. Avocado is creamy, add in the taste of mild coffee and it's perfect! All their other drinks are great too, reminds me of viet nam!!!! read more

Walked into this place while waiting for my seat at Korean BBQ and I'm pretty pumped that I did! This place was amazing- tons of different combos and variations of teas and drinks. I love taro bubble tea so I tried the taro lover. Layered with jelly and coconut milk, it was refreshing, sweet, and full of flavor. The only downside is that there are TOO MANY tasty options to choose from so I was a bit unprepared and overwhelmed. Guess I'll have to go back to try more.. read more

I honestly don't know how this place is getting such great reviews. Definitely not worth the hype! I have been here three times since the opening because I like to give places chances. Each time something went wrong (we were overcharged for our free drink or pandan waffle and the worker didn't know how to do a refund and we were given the wrong drink TWICE and the worker didn't offer to remake them thus stealing $1.50 from us). They offered a buy 2 teas, get a tea or pandan waffle free promotion but when we were rung up, we were charged for our free item and we had to be refunded in either cash (so we didn't get the tax back). The second time we had seen the worker charged us and let her know because she "forgot" to give us the free waffle. Why have a promotion if your store barely remembers it? So service, blah. It also took about 15 minutes for me to receive my three drinks which is totally fine if the place is packed but there was only one other person in front of me waiting and they had ordered two drinks. Now to the actual items they sell. We tried a bunch of things: guava tea, lychee milk tea, black milk tea, oolong milk tea, mango tea, strawberry fresh fruit tea, mango fresh fruit tea, thai tea, coconut milk tea, taro milk tea, coffee milk tea, the fruit addict che, and a white chocolate macaron. I honestly would only come back for the macaron, which they get shipped to them from some store in NY, but be warned- it is super pricey. The che was missing longan and only had three lychee in it and wasn't sweet AT ALL. The fresh fruit teas had too many random things in it and were too sweet and the syrup could be seen and tasted. The drinks had a huge percentage of jelly and ice compared to tea so there wasn't as much tea in them. I would get them without jelly if I had the choice because they give way too much and the jelly doesn't even taste that great. The other drinks were all just mediocre. If I had to choose a tea then I would opt to get the black or oolong milk tea. I had tried to order a strawberry tea and mango tea and both times I was given the fresh fruit tea versions which are 75 cents more and both were not great. Whatever you do, DO NOT try the fresh fruit teas. I tried telling the worker and she said "well the fresh fruit one is better" as she bagged my drinks and didn't offer refunds. The other time I ordered a mango tea with the owner but a fresh fruit tea was rung up again and I told him this after seeing it and he assured me it would be mango tea as he went in the back. It came out the fresh fruit tea and I thought it pointless to say anything since it was the owner who had taken my order and who I spoke with. Another time we got the thai tea (which should look like a regular thai iced tea) but there was no milk in it... it was only tea... like the bottom half of a thai iced tea which is not what the picture on the wall indicates, the one on the wall was like a normal thai iced tea with half tea and half milk. Totally understand this place is new and that there will be flaws, but there have been way too many in this opening week. I will think about giving them another chance in a few months, but for now- I will not be returning. read more

Came here for a sweet treat after eating at the Korean BBQ spot next door. They have a large menu of different items to choose from including their signature dessert drinks, milk teas, coffees, smoothies, yogurts, and more. The interior is clean and spacious with plenty of seating, and they have cards, Connect 4, dominoes, and other games to enjoy while indulging in their delicious treats. I ordered their large combo yogurt drink and a pandan waffle. The yogurt was REALLY GOOD and I'd definitely go back to get it again. However, I was really disappointed by the pandan waffle. It was really hard and didn't taste anywhere as good as the ones I've had elsewhere. I was also disappointed that their arcade machine and ping pong table were broken. I don't know of many dessert spots that have these forms of entertainment, so it's important for them to get these fixed. read more

I ordered #3 Awesome Trio and #6 Fruit Addict, I felt that it was overpriced and mediocre. You're basically paying $1-2 dollars more for the che (Vietnamese desserts/sweet beverage) compared to Eden and it doesn't taste significantly better? You know how you expect for something to taste special or better if you're paying more for it? Yeah, didn't get that here. You're just paying more to pay more. The perks to this? It's in the Annandale area so you don't have to drive far to get it. read more

I usually don't have high expecting for drink places- just go in, sit, quench your thirst and hang out.. Seems straightforward. But this place was disappointing. I ordered the lychee jello (which I thought was absolutely horrendous but I'm not solely basing the review on that since I should try more drinks before I judge.. But $6.25 for a drink?!) and it took a lot longer than normal tea places to come out, around 10min. My brother's drink didn't come out for 15 minutes so he had to go and ask them to make it again as they messed up the order, which took another 5 minutes. Seems like a trend here looking at other reviews. I also saw the other review where the owner responded to criticism in the worst way possible. That's unacceptable and brings to light how the place really is. Seems to be an overpriced tea place that lacks basic service and quality. read more

The service is great here! They are always so nice, especially the owner. They always make any accommodations to my drinks I ask for and make good suggestions. As for the drinks, they are all so good! My favorites are the fruit addict and avocado smash but I've tried almost all their chés and smoothies at this point. I love how they use real fruit rather than the fakey powder many places do. The ingredients always taste fresh and so good! The pandan waffle is also really good as well as the cream puffs - vanilla and durian. Definitely recommend! read more

Bambu opened in Annandale, next to Kogiya, which is exciting to me because I loved the Eden Center location before they sold the place and changed the name to something else. The owner was super nice and friendly, suggested to try their Bambu special drink, which is my all-time fave from the previous location. The drink was super refreshing after eating a heavy lunch at Kogiya. It's sweeter than I recalled, but tasty. The store is cute, have tables set up to play games or chat with friends. Can't wait to go back! read more

I do not recommend Bambu. I went in after getting my nails done next door at 4:54pm. I came in at the same time this gentleman. It was his first time visiting as mine. He ordered 18 drinks in total (1-15 on the menu plus 3 smooties for the ladies next door at The Nail Shop). Right after I paid for my order the woman made my pandan waffle immediately then stepped into the back to talk with the ladies in the back (preparation area) that were making the gentleman's drinks. She left my waffle in the waffle maker for a long period of time without flipping it after it chimed to remove it. She then placed it in a sleeve and put my ube ice-cream in a container next to a hot waffle and left it sitting on the counter. Meanwhile she checked 4 other people's orders out. I waited over an hour for my waffle and a smoothie ( was giving the rhe benefit of doubt due to the gentleman ordered 18 drinks, but once everyone that came in after me got their complex orders 1st I was then annoyed.) I left at 5:55pm. I then had to go back in and complain my waffle was hard as a rock. Not to mention my son said the smoothie was missing boba that I paid extra for. Very disappointed. Sad because the fresh pandan waffle was amazing but the customer service wasnt so great. Quite pricey for such mediocre desert drink I got number 4 today and it wasn't as worth the money. They weren't very busy when I was there but it took a while to get my drink. I've been getting Bambu chè in Washington, California and Chicago, but this place is not as good as any other places I've been. I would give it another try if I happen to be in the area though I think the menu is a bit overpriced. read more

I went to get some boba after eating lunch with friends, and it wasn't too bad. But I don't know if it's the place I would go to talk with someone/take artsy pictures of the food. Obsessed with the combo #1 on their Che menu. Love the pandan waffle , too! Always comes out pipin' hot and fresh! Love how chewy it is in the middle of the waffle and crispy it is toward the edge. Good bye, summer body! read more

I very rarely feel cramped but the proximity of the tables was a little claustrophobic for me. We ordered Chay Nuggets, the vegan Banh Mi option, and Pho. All the food lived up to my expectations. Hands down the best Pho I ever had. The base of the broth was good on its own, and beyond compare once some of the available sauces and toppings were added. I was impressed with how many vegetables were included in this dish. This dish was hearty and I would definitely order it again. The nuggets were a great option for my daughter. They were less fluffy than an American style nugget and nicely crisped on the outside with slightly sweet sauces for dipping. The Banh Mi was good but my least favorite of the items ordered. My husband and I both wish the tofu was a little more prominent and hearty rather than shredded. I am not sure if the way they prepared it was more authentic. Regardless the flavor was good and the baguette was memorable with a little crispness on the outside and softness in the center. While the food was worth coming back for, the service and indoor dining would make me want to take my food to go. It did not feel like a family friendly business. My daughter wanted to get up and walk around and I felt some glares from the employees. In general there was no warmth from the employees. There was no checking in on our meals or any friendly conversation at the table. Thanks Chay for so many vegan options and I am happy I finally got to check out this highly rated business.

One other thing I kinda don't want to bring up in light of the great food we enjoyed, but need to in the spirit of full disclosure, is to mention that A&J shares space in the building with several other businesses. The restrooms are common to all the businesses. A&J needs to lean hard on the property owner/manager to do a deep cleaning in those restrooms. I'll leave it at that.
