I was reluctant to order from this place based on its fusion menu and it's overpriced, white washed food and having ordered it my concerns were confirmed. It was the only place that was open at 11 and delivered in under 30 minutes so I just bit the bullet which was a big mistake - the wait is probably short because it's not not in demand, and second it took longer than 30 minutes and not because of the delivery guy because he texted me to tell me he had to wait thus the delay. First of all, they don't give you a full serving of the entrees - it's a black takeout box with half rice and half entree. Second, the entree I ordered is nothing like an authentic Kung pao. even Panda Express blows their Kung pao out the water. I wasn't even looking for authentic Sichuan style Kung pao with only chicken, peanuts, and tons of dried red hot peppers - I wanted American Chinese style with bell peppers, diced stir fried chicken thighs, peanuts, and some peppers with a mild, slightly sweet sauce (the best way to make it is with hoisin sauce but it's rare to find.) it was breaded, deep fried, tough chunks and the seasoning was just salty and spicy, no dimensions, aroma, or sugar to counteract what tasted like the cap of the soy sauce dispenser fell off during the seasoning process. It's so over seasoned the bell peppers are literally brown. And fuck breading Kung pao chicken so hard, what is wrong with these people? It's so bad I had a few bites and the rest is sitting in my fridge 2 days later and I wonder if I should try to save it or if I should just throw it away. The other item I ordered too was bland shrimp fried rice. It was soggy, unremarkable, with no wok hei. Just salty (a reoccurring theme.) it could have been even redeemed with a pinch of msg. But alas, just salty. And I personally love salt, just balance it out with actual flavor, you know? On the plus side the shrimp was fine and there was a decent amount so if you want to pay 15 dollars for a few shrimp and toss out the rice that's okay too. And I just remembered I ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee with boba. This was largely non dairy creamer with a dash of Vietnamese coffee - if you ever had real Vietnamese coffee you know it's brewed nice and dark and prepared with condensed milk. It was so disappointing I just threw the remainder away which is a first for me (asian girls just love boba, just not this one.) Anyways, long story short, skip it. read more

I've been looking forward to trying Bambao and this past Sunday, I stopped in with my son for lunch. We were served by two friendly and helpful counter staff. My son decided on the sambal honey fried chicken and a strawberry fruit tea with bursting bubbles. I ordered the Buddha bowl and a hot milk tea. My Buddha bowl looked fantastic and tasted great! The flavors were just right and I felt that it was a satisfying yet healthy option. My son very much enjoyed his chicken and bubble tea. Bambao has good food, friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. I was looking forward to the Bambao experience. I was hoping that it would be a great alternative to Ekiben as it is in the same building where I worked. I ordered The Pork and Crab Fried Rice, Lemongrass Ginger Team, Pork and Shrimp Dumplings to go. The smell was amazing! Sadly, that's where it ended. Pork and Crab Fried Rice: I was grossed out on the amount of grease that was pooling at the bottom of the container. I have never seen fried rice drenched in grease! I tried a small portion and it was hard to appreciate the flavors because the rice and veggies were just so greasy. I just can't get past it. I am not sure if they cooked the pork first (it looks like a bacon slab) and use the grease to cook the rest of the ingredients. If so, they should drain most of the grease out so it doesn't kill the flavors. Pork and Shrimp Dumplings: Eh. It wasn't anything special. The flavor was a little bland. There are better dumplings out there (Kippo). The saving grace was the sauce. The spiciness of it was a delectable surprise. Lemongrass Ginger Milk Tea with Mango bursting bubbles: I think this is more my mistake because I chose the mango flavored bursting bubble as topping. The overly salty noodles would have been quasi bearable if it had not been for the fact that any tiny bite of the shrimp tasted like I was biting into a salt stick. WOW. I'm back with a review of @eat.bambao located in Harbor East here in Baltimore. They sell steam buns, bao, rice bowls, and bubble tea. I heard good things about their Sambal Honey Fried Chicken sandwich on @yelp so I decided try it. I really wanted to see how it stacked up against the reigning King Ekiben's Neighborhood Bird, which is also steamed bun fried chicken sandwich. I also tried their shrimp and pork dumplings. For my drink I got their lychee fruit green tea. The best thing I got out of the three was the Lychee fruit tea! It had an excellent flavor and it wasn't too sweet either. It was very refreshing! The dumplings were decent too, but there was something in that dipping sauce that messed with my sinuses for some reason. I actually like the flavor of the chicken sandwich, but it was fried too hard so the chicken was tough and stringy. The sandwich came with a little of their napa cabbage salad, but it really didn't have any flavor. Would I go back, maybe if I was in the area. However, with Ekiben only being a few blocks away, which has a superior fried chicken sandwich, it's hard for me to justify eating at Bambao. I would get that tea though! read more

The pork and crab fried rice was good and for the amount of rice they gave was worth it. It had a bunch of veggies pork and crab. The "taiwanese chicken" that we ordered was not the taiwanese chicken i was expecting. We also ordered the sambal rice combo which was very good, comparable to ekiben. With being limited on what is open to my pleasant surprise we found this place for delivery. The Mongolian beef was tender and the spice to it was percent. If you like spicy and a tad bit sweet this is delicious. I really liked the bulgogi beef short rib bowl also and my toddler son loved it! He doesn't eat meat much so to see him eat it was a plus. The coconut ginger cold drink could use a little more ginger since I couldn't taste the ginger but I found it to be helpful to drink with the spicy dish I first mentioned. I was in Baltimore this past weekend and had their food twice! Their veggie fried rice was amazing and their popcorn chicken was just as delicious! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the first time I ordered, my friend & I arrived at the restaurant after waiting 15-20 minutes for the order to be ready, only to be told that they couldn't find our order in their system. They eventually found it and said sometimes their system is slow so our order wasn't processed yet. We ended up waiting an additional 15 minutes for the food to be ready, which was a bit of a bummer, but at least our food was fresh! read more

Kind of small area but it was almost empty when we were there so it was fine. Food: Amazing! The side salad (included) had rice wine vinegar, which made it tasty but still very light. Loved the bao, I've been craving a good vegetarian bun. Super soft bread, and great texture of the tofu/mushroom combo. My friend actually teased me that I couldn't put the bao down, even though we were having a serious discussion about the relationship. (Great food? Fear of commitment? You decide :P ) The heavy plastic/waste use did kind of bother me. There were no reusable forks, cups, or or bowls available even when dining in, and the forks were each individually wrapped in plastic... Wait time was about 10 minutes, but they have a place you can sit while waiting downstairs :) Tldr: great option for vegans/vegetarians, just bring your own water bottle ;) read more

My husband and I took our kids here after church for a little lunch and bubble tea . It was a perfect family outing! The menu had plenty of choices, but was not overwhelming so as to make ordering difficult. There was ample seating upstairs, and the food was prepared quickly, which is key when dining with kids. I had the Lemongrass Grilled Chicken Bao. The chicken was tender and the sauce very flavorful. My son had the Samai Honey Fried Chicken Bao, which was a big hit! I enjoyed a hot classic milk tea with bubbles, which was really delicious, and my daughter had the strawberry fruit tea. She felt it was one of the best teas she has ever tasted! Excellent location in the Harbor East neighborhood; We enjoyed exploring in the nearby shops after we had finished eating. We will definitely be back! read more

This is a nice Asian fusion restaurant a short walk away from the Inner Harbor. My date and I ordered two bowls from the establishment to take and eat outside (no seating outdoors, but walked to benches for fresh air during pandemic). The bulgogi beef bowl was nice with delicious meat, fluffy rice and diced vegetables. My date's bowl of fried chicken was also nice and she remarked how it was delicious. First time trying this spot although it's walking distance from my apartment. Ordered online and walked to pick up with minimal wait time. Staff was wearing masks and it was empty inside the ordering area (there is a dining area upstairs which I did not check out). It appeared very clean. Ordered the orange chicken + fried rice, general tso's chicken + fried rice, veggie spring rolls (comes with 2), and taro milk tea. The food was good, although the orange chicken was a bit spicy for me (but I'm highly sensitive to spices). The spring rolls were good but did not come with a dipping sauce as they do in many places. The milk tea was good, particularly because you could customize it! I ordered mine with boba and almond milk. Overall, everything was good and not greasy or heavy (as you may sometimes feel after eating takeout at some restaurants). Will definitely return, particularly to try some other milk teas and their bao buns. read more

If you come here, I would stick to the baos, bowls and bubble tea. I've tried the samba chicken and pork baos, both excellent. Bubble teas are hit or miss, good most of the time and watered down at other times with too much ice. I tried the stir fry veggies and Mongolian beef most recently and both were too sweet and greasy. They don't separate the ride/cauliflower rice so your rice gets soaked by the time you get home if you're ordering pickup. read more

I ordered a bulgogi bao and fried tofu and mongolian beef im very disappointed. First the fried tofu they forget the sauce the monglian beef is too salty that u can even eat it and the beef is over cooked. The bolgogi bao is ok the only thing i give them 2 stars is the thai tea is very good. I spend almost $50 bucks for it i dont mind the price but its not worth it. We tried Bambao for carry out for the first time last night. We ordered the Chicken Lo Mein, General Tso's Chicken, and The Sambal Honey Fried Chicken Bao. The portions were generous, the flavor was excellent, and it was not greasy at all! I would highly recommend this place, our new go-to as long as it stays consistent!
