Food came out very fast. We got general tsos, fried rice, crab wontons and a bubble tea. The general tsos didnt really taste like general tsos.. it was almost like sweet buffalo sauce but it wasn't bad. The fried rice was good but shrimp were small. We did enjoy the wontons and the tea. Small space so not many tables. Really meant to be a boba and snack meal place but can certainly have a full meal. Food is most authentic in the area, behind Red Pepper and ahead of Kung Fu 12. Limited choices but all of them are good or reasonable standard. I think of it as a slightly worse version of Chopin noodle house, that is cheaper. Their drinks are pretty good and is better than Kung Fu tea, around gongcha level. Place is run by a couple, and they are very nice and helpful. I hope they stay in business. I give them 4 stars because of lack of authentic Chinese food in the area, and they are pretty good on a curve. I save 5 stars for Michelin-level quality. read more

I suspect they reused the leftover broth from the previous customer's soup to make my lamb rice noodles. I ordered rice noodles, and when I reached the bottom, there were very broken pieces of noodles (not rice noodles,they are flour noodles)and sweet potato noodles, I ordered rice noodles, not impossible,I've always had the same lamp rice noodles before, and this has never happened. When I ordered online that day, the shop had about 50 minutes left before closing, so they probably didn't have enough broth to make the noodles and used the leftover broth from the previous customer. read more

My daughter and I stopped in for a quick bite to eat and had no idea of the variety and options we faced once we walked inside. They have the basics for a boba tea and snack place, but also traditional Chinese and Taiwanese food that's surprising if you're not in the know. This is a real gem in Towson/Timonium area. The food was very good and service was great. It's great that there is an option for authentic chinese food. Some of the menu is quite different than what you would find in Rockville and Silver Spring too. I enjoyed the noodles (rich broth, a lot of noodles too) as well as the appetizers. This is a small shop in a cramped plaza. It's a bit difficult to get in or out of here from York Road. We went here for the drinks, mainly the fruit teas because they advertise using real fruit, unlike many places that just use flavored syrup. The price tag is hefty - with tax, my mango pomelo drink was over $7 bucks, but apart from sticker shock, it tasted very good. I even came back a week later to get it again but I probably won't be able to do that often due to the cost. We also enjoyed the Earl grey milk tea. You can customize the drinks such as the sugar and ice content. We have yet to try the food. The employees seemed nice although I didn't have to interact with them much since there's a handy self service kiosk where you can place orders and pay. read more

AUTHENTIC. If you don't like the food, it's because you don't like or appreciate authentic Chinese cuisine. My boyfriend who lived in Beijing for 2 years said the beef noodles and mapo tofu were exactly like what he had in Beijing. I've had mapo tofu many times from different Chinese restaurants, and it's certainly different. Compared to what I've had which I can only assume was an Americanized version, this one was more bland upfront with a subtle deep flavor from the dried peppers, which builds in heat over time. I was so happy to have an authentic experience in a very unassuming area. I mean c'mon, it's in Timonium, where really good restaurants are far and few between. This place is a hidden gem. Also, apparently their bobas are something to try. I will most definitely be ordering that next time. read more

I've been to Yo Cafe three times now and every visit is a delight. It's a welcome addition to the area after the hot pot place closed at the end of the pandemic. Staff are excellent and very knowledgeable. The restaurant is small but comfortable. They put in a partition between the front door and the restaurant that successfully keeps out these awfully cold temperatures. The food is just excellent! The boba tea is delicious. They have a genmaicha milk tea, my favorite tea ever, that is delicious. I've had soups, noodles, chicken and their Chinese burgers, and nothing has disappointed. Portions are big enough that I go home with leftovers. My only con is that I wish their chicken dishes came with more broccoli or other vegetables as I really like a balance between the two when I have Chinese food. read more

Not really a huge fan of this place. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is fine, but the food that I tried so far was below average in my opinion, and that is the most important part for my experience. The chicken I had was pretty bland, and the beef on the Chinese burger was bland also, and still had some fat on it, which I don't like. The fries were ok, but I think they were just the basic prepackaged frozen fries that you get from most fast food pizza shops. Maybe I just need to try the soups and tea next time, but at this I feel like I can just go to other spots and get better food and tea. Good small Chinese place! Very limited seating--about 4 tables and maybe 6 seats at a bar. They have a kiosk at the front where you can order and pay for either dine in or take out. Very friendly staff. Food is pretty good. We had pork and napa dumplings (my son really liked them, I thought they were ok), you tiao (good!), soy bean milk (I got unsweetened, and it was good), veggie lo mein (good although a little salty), bok choy in garlic sauce (good! Seemed to have white pepper, there were also some carrot slices), and a large roasted brown sugar pearl milk with 50% sugar to share with my two kids (very good although I would get even less sugar next time--turns out you can get 25%). It was packed when we arrived around 7:30 pm on a Friday, but we were able to find a few seats at the bar. Lots of Chinese patrons constantly coming in to pick up takeout. For those in the know, this is an amazing place to get authentic Chinese food - a treasure for the Timonium area. It is a "mom and pop" shop so service can be sometimes slow, especially during busy times. Most of the menu items are great (we love the seaweed salad appetizer and order it almost weekly!), though they often offer WeChat special items (like sesame ball desserts) on certain days for those using the social media app - often catering to the Chinese-speaking customers and ends up being some of my favorite food in Baltimore. Walked in, smelled great. Has a nice style, calm colors and music, kiosk to order from and staff that greet you right when you walk in. Figured I'd try somethin small, I ordered the pork Chinese hamburger and the chicken egg roll. The pork burger was good, tender and juicy. The bun was nice and soft, and was enclosed on the back so kinda like an oven mitt which prevented spilling and I dig that. At first I thought they forgot my chicken roll but a little more than halfway through the burger one of the cooks came to me and made sure he remembered, the first one he tried to make wasn't up to par so he made me a fresh one, took only 1-2 minutes, and he surprised me with a vegetable spring roll. Awesome. Both go very good with the soy sauce they provide wherever you sit. After finishing I figured I'd try a tea as that's one of the things this place is known for, so I tried the brown sugar pearl milk tea M1, and man was that good.
