The parking can be challenging, but they will be moving closer to the Walmart supercenter in Hoover on 150 sometime in the summer My son ordered the buccaneer burger and I ordered the classic. Both were just 1 patty. I did ask for ranches on the side with my tater tots, but did not receive them. The burgers definitely have a homemade taste to them. They definitely give you a generous amount of tater tots. Once I place the order, it was ready in about 15 minutes. The cashier brought it around to me which I thought was sweet. I like how it's decorated inside and it's not too bright in there. I will definitely be back to try a different burger.

Because this is in the same parking lot as first watch, which is a breakfast/lunch restaurant the parking lot was pretty packed. We got there around 12 and luckily he was able to find a parking spot. As soon as we walked in, we could tell it was pretty busy in there. I saw a couple getting up from a table and immediately went over and sat at the table. It is table service, but you do have to order at the counter. They have a pretty good variety of burgers, chicken sandwiches, and salads. Unfortunately, due to an outbreak for lettuce that is getting people sick I decided against getting a salad. I just got a regular cheeseburger and it was delicious. My son also got a buffalo chicken sandwich which I must say was a very good size sandwich and a burger with tater tots. I got the french fries and they were very good. I will definitely be back here. The prices were great, and the food was delicious.

Baja Burger may want to gather the staff together and have a difficult conversation about the word…read more"burger" being in the restaurant name. Because when I walked in and asked the very nice guy at the register what their best item was, he didn't hesitate for even half a second. "Fried chicken club sandwich. Hands down." Not "one of our burgers." Not "depends what you like." Nope. Immediate confidence. The kind of confidence that makes you trust a stranger with your financial future. So naturally I ordered exactly that. He even doubled down and told me it was the best sandwich he's ever had. Ever. That's a dangerous level of hype to put on a chicken sandwich. At that point I wasn't ordering lunch anymore. I was preparing for a spiritual experience. I got the sweet potato fries on the side and sat there waiting like a kid staring at the oven on Christmas morning. Then the sandwich arrived. And honestly? Visually, this thing deserved its own entrance music. Beautiful sandwich. Crispy golden chicken, stacked perfectly, looked like it had been assembled by a food stylist with relationship issues. I took the first bite and immediately realized what was wrong. Flavor had called in sick. The chicken itself was cooked perfectly. Great crunch. Juicy inside. Beautiful breading. But somehow nobody introduced it to salt, pepper, seasoning, spices, or joy. It tasted like the kitchen spent all their energy making it look incredible and forgot the whole "taste" portion of the assignment. My colleague ordered the exact same thing and had the exact same reaction, which honestly made me feel better because for a second I thought COVID had made a surprise comeback. The sandwich was one shake of Cajun seasoning away from greatness. The sweet potato fries were solid flavor-wise, but a little limp. Not tragic. Just lacking that crispness that makes you keep stealing fries after you're already full. This place feels like a really good concept that just needs somebody in the kitchen to become emotionally invested in seasoning. Three stars feels fair. Nothing was bad. Nothing offended me. It was just aggressively average after being introduced with Super Bowl-level hype. I'd come back, but next time I'm ordering an actual burger at the place called Baja Burger. Feels like that's probably the safer bet.

I ordered one of the more popular items (because I asked) the chili dog with onions and mustard - it hit the spot! The bun was steamy soft. The combo included crinkle fries. The fries were the crinkle variety and served piping hot, fried golden crispy and seasoned well. Yes, it's a bit of a well worn hole in the wall as described by some Yelpers, but I discovered that's because its well loved. Tony's Hot Dogs in Birmingham is the kind of place you'd drive past a hundred times if you didn't…read moreknow better. No frills. No gimmicks. Just a tiny, iconic hole in the wall that exists for one reason: to serve hot dogs that mean business. When you walk in, you already know you're not here for the décor. You're here because you're craving a hot dog and you want it done right. I ordered the Chicago dog, which showed up looking like it had zero intention of fitting politely inside its bun. This thing was juicy, oversized, and required a concerning amount of napkins. The pickles were crisp, the peppers had the right bite, the mustard was exactly what it should be. Everything hit. The only thing missing was that neon green relish that looks radioactive but somehow makes a Chicago dog official. I kind of missed it. A little. Then I got adventurous. Mistake number one. I ordered the Beef Sandwich, what I can only describe as a sloppy joe with a pickle on top. It sounded bold. It tasted... fine. Not terrible. Not memorable. Just sort of there. It's like I betrayed the hot dog gods and they let me know. My colleague went with the burger, which Tony's is apparently campaigning as "best of" material with the local news crowd. He said it was decent and a great value. High praise in burger language. Now the onion rings? Absolute perfection. Crispy, golden, and cooked exactly the way onion rings should be cooked. No notes. If I had stuck strictly to the hot dogs, this would've been an easy five-star situation. But I strayed. That's on me. Four stars. Next time, I'm staying loyal to the dogs.

The restaurant is intimate but well laid out, featuring a couple of distinct dining areas and a bar. Since it was our first time, our server, Daniella, recommended the candied bacon bombs to start. They came with a side of cheese curds, and both were absolutely delicious. Even as small as the curds were, they had a perfect cheese pull! For our mains, I ordered the cowboy burger with an added egg and a side of sweet potato fries, while my son chose the shrimp and grits. My burger was incredible, a solid 9.5 out of 10. My son rated his shrimp and grits a 7, though he has a lot of experience with that dish to compare it to. Daniella provided fantastic service, checking in at just the right times without hovering. I later realized I forgot to ask if they do anything special for birthdays, but honestly, my son was probably glad I forgot!
