My wife had seen this place posted on social media, so we decided to make the drive out there one evening. Anytime there's steaks on the menu, I'm happy to give it a go. Both times we've eaten here the food and service have been excellent. The hot hamburger is great and we love the long list of side options. The cole slaw is pure nostalgia for me, the closest I've ever found to my great grandmother's. Wash it all down with their perfectly sweet tea. Boondocks is a fun little barbecue place out in the sticks. - Food Good food, country style. We went with another couple and the wives had baked potatoes, and the guys had barbecue. Typical Southern fare. The menus could be more informative on what comes with the meal. When we asked what meals came with, it really changed our orders - Service Friendly service, informative and helpful. Best service around! Bottom Line I'd go again if I needed a place to eat in Bibb. Otherwise, sadly, I could almost cook the same thing in my own kitchen given a few minutes. read more

Our second visit to Boondocks was proof of consistency. We started with the Twisted Tomatoes which is a ribbon cut green tomato battered and fried. A really interesting take on fried green tomatoes and absolutely delicious. I had the Hamburger Steak with gravy and onions, mashed potatoes and baked beans. Again a complete hit. My wife had the Country Fried steak with mashed potatoes n gravy and green beans. I believe this is a complete duplication of our orders on our first visit, confirmation of our satisfaction. I am tempted to try the BBQ next visit. My only complaint is that the sides are limited to the BBQ restaurant standards....cole slaw, baked beans, green beans, french fries, tater tots, potato salad and Mac n cheese. Wish they had Collards, pinto beans, black eyed peas and other meat n three staples but again it is primarily a bbq place so I understand. This is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. The establishment is in Brierfield AL so it is a bit of a drive for many but worth the effort if this fare is what you crave. Service is awesome and my only other desire would be a cold beer but alcohol is not served. Will definitely return soon! read more

It is out in the boon docks, but it's worth the trip. It's a small place, but the food is very good. Just be prepared for the ride.

Mi just want to take a minute to THANK the manager, owner and the waitress. I called before 10:30 to let them know we would have a party of 14 could they please put us together. They went above and beyond to take care of us. THANK YOU!! And did tell you the food was GREAT also. We eat there a lot. Our family hears of talk about it and we had a family event today and that's where they wanted to eat. THANK YOU again!!!!! Is it the food or is it the people? Here you get both!! Aptly named, this place likely is a treasure for those who live in the area, but for us city dwellers, we truly were in the boondocks!! The friendly staff made us feel right at home! We started off with the Twisted Fried Green Tomatoes. Served with ranch dressing, these are a delight. Twisty and thin, they still have the sharp green tomato taste ~ not lost to breading or frying. Hubby loves his ranch dressing, but I think these were best plain. They're piping hot and yummy!! Hubby had the barbecue sandwich. I got the rib basket (not the rib platter.) Food was served hot. Other reviews mentioned small portions, but that wasn't our experience. His sandwich was loaded with pulled pork. My basket had three ribs ~ served hot and tasting of woodsmoke. Ribs are served with Texas Toast and barbecue sauce already applied. They were good this way, but they would have been perfect all alone. Other diners had the macaroni and cheese ~ it looked good. We were on one of those days where you just want fries ~ ours were hot and tasty ~ crispy outside, potatoey inside. We ended up walking out with two cinnamon rolls from the checkout counter. We haven't eaten them yet but they look heavenly. Parking lot ~ quaint porch for outside dining in season, rockers on front porch, country music inside. If you find yourself hungry in the boondocks, this is a place to stop! We were there at 4 pm ~ rib eye steaks hit the menu at 5 pm on weekends. If you're ever out in Bibb County, you should give this place a try. I was there on a Saturday and one of the meals of the day was the fried catfish plate with two sides, which was $10.95 plus tax. I must say that the food is absolutely delicious; however, the portion size is quite small so if you have a large appetite you may want to order extra. I've been here once before and ordered the grilled chicken salad, which was delicious. Other than the portion sizes being fairly small the taste of the food and quick preparation time makes up for it. read more

We went to eat after swimming at Brierfield Park. I had the ribeye with baked potato and salad. All was very good. Steak was prepared as requested. Staff was friendly and attentive. My only disappointment was that they were out of peanutbutter pie. We will definitely go back. read more

Visited for lunch during a break from our softball tournament with my daughter. The service was quick and the staff was very friendly. The price of the food wasn't too overly priced. Sadly, we were disappointed in the food. My baked potato was so cold the butter wouldn't melt and the Texas toast was also very cold. The BBQ pork and chicken tenders tasted ok, nothing special. We are lucky to have this Restaurant in our community. Got the bacon cheeseburger and onion rings and it was one of the best hamburgers I have ever had. Nothing fancy or wierd just a solid burger. The steaks on the weekend are the best value for the money. I've eaten their weekend special many times. steak, potato and salad for less than 20 bucks out the door. Can't beat it. It's okay. The food honestly wasn't that bad, but not amazing either. The menu could use some work. Not descriptive at all. I ordered the "open face" from the BBQ menu. When it arrived there were two HUGE piles of Slaw, which was hard to pick off, since it was then infused in the diced pork. I would have just asked for no slaw, if I had known it was going to be that much (if any.) The seating wasn't great either; for a table for 3 we had to sit by the door which let in a jarring amount of cold air every time the door was open. Our waitress, albeit nice, was quick but didn't see us often, and we had to ask just for napkins. she acted appalled when I ordered the "open face" from the menu, not knowing it was a sandwich. This place may be out of the way, but it's well worth a detour. The sauce has a nice little kick to it. The fried green tomatoes are thinner than I ever thought possible. The meat is tender and juicy for all right reasons. The slaw is loaded with onions. The tea is appropriately sweet. And the service is honest and kind. We'll find a reason to come back this way so we can try the peach cobbler (they had run out). read more
