I took my 2 yr old in to see Dr Kaufman by a referral of my pediatrician. She developed a very rare condition in the muscle of one eye due to a virus she had. But I wouldn't have ever known this because it just appears as if it is simple lazy eye. We waited less than 10 min in his waiting room before seeing him. We saw Dr Kaufman right away and he DID explain everything he was doing or what he was about to do. He was very gentle to her and kept calling her "sweetie" Now I did prepare my child for the appointment since she never had her eyes checked before. Even though she is young you could still talk to your kids and make them understand that doctors are there to help them and to not hurt them. It is never the Dr's obligation to entertain our kids or to do our job as parents anyway. When he diagnosed that it wasn't lazy eye, he was very concerned that it was caused by an illness and PERSONALLY called a neurologist and had us go straight from his office to UIC's ER. What doctor does that anymore?! Well, Dr Kaufman does. After our visit to the ER (the same day) the office made a follow up call to check on us! He answered all of our questions and he reassured us. All the ladies in his staff were very helpful, patient, and very caring. They were never bothered by ALL my questions. I will definitely recommend Dr Kaufman to anyone! Great doctor and great staff.

After getting dilated we waited OVER an hour before the Dr came back. This place just seems like a factory to badger money...not a patient centered eye care practice. My friend credits Dr. Joseph Garber with saving her vision when she came back from vacation with a detatched retina, so she called to see if I could get in for an emergency appointment. Thank God they got me in within a few hours, to see Dr. Gina Rogers. When I arrived, reception was warm, & I was called back to a room quickly. Nora numbed my affected eye to gently measure my eye pressure, gave me a vision test, and then documented my detailed optical history, symptoms, and pharmacy to call in prescriptions. Dr. Rogers came in shortly after. She was warm & compassionate as she thoroughly looked in both eyes. She prescribed me 3 different things, to be thorough. By the next day, I was feeling much better. I am so grateful to the very warm team who got me in so quickly! I am so grateful to Dr. Rogers for letting me squeeze into her schedule when I was so miserable. My friend has recommended this practice to others for years. After my emergency visit, I saw why. I highly recommend too!

One of the things I really like is that some of the staff there are low-vision as well, so they understand what their patients are experiencing on a personal level that the average optometrist or ophthalmologist simply does not. They have qualified professional doctors as well, but I think it's the combination of that and the folks living with these conditions that lets them give a unique style of help beyond what a standard eye doctor's office can do. I would highly recommend their services to anyone with low vision, or who has a loved one with low vision.

He has helped me navigate a permanent visual field deficit for two decades, and I can't say enough good things about him. He is incredibly kind, understanding, knowledgeable, and genuinely cares about his patients. He listens, takes his time, and always makes me feel heard. He's also an excellent problem solver and never makes me feel rushed. One of the things I appreciate most is how accessible he is and how well-run his office is. He consistently runs on time, which is something I wish more doctors' offices would do. My appointments are always efficient without ever feeling hurried. Michelle and the rest of the staff are wonderful, too. Michelle is especially warm, friendly, and welcoming, and she always makes me feel comfortable from the moment I walk in the door. The office is conveniently located across from Northwestern's emergency department, and parking is easy either in the building or on nearby streets. After more than 20 years as a patient, I can honestly say that every visit has been a great experience. Went from a -7.0 to a +1 correction. Being a middle-aged guy, that is a great result. Followup visits with the staff and Dr. Rubenstein continue to be great. There are always chain-type lasik centers that offer better prices than the local providers. My best advice is never choose a place on price since you don't want to mess with your eyes.

Dr. Wilson Hartz III has been my physician for almost thirty years. Recently I realized that a…read morereview of his practice is overdue, and so now I am recommending him as a most ethical and capable doctor. First, Dr. Hartz will never prescribe a procedure or medication which he knows is unwarranted or dangerous, and even if a patient so requests. Secondly, he always takes patients on time for their appointments and responds to their concerns both in and out of the office as soon as possible. His office examinations are never rushed, because he does not overbook and he listens to everything a patient has to say. He may also be reached through his office assistant without being kept 'on hold' or a on a (potentially defective) website portal. Dr. Hartz specializes in surgery and is also an excellent instructor who serves on the faculty at Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. In fact, because of his extensive experience and expertise, I have observed him field questions from other physicians regarding their own surgeries. Perhaps most significantly for a surgeon, when Dr. Hartz leads an operating room surgery he remains calm, purposeful, and easily resolves unforeseen events, even if the surgical procedure becomes prolonged. Finally but not least of all, some individuals readily assume responsibility to confront problems and Dr. Hartz is one of these people. His patients know he will always push the envelope on behalf of their care, so I hope that others will benefit themselves by selecting his practice for their medical care.

10/19/18. Very bad experience ! I Do not recommend this doctor because this is what you will go…read morethrough . You fill out a ton of paperwork and then realize there is only one receptionist and that's it ! Norma His receptionist makes all the decisions for this doctor, she is not a license nurse . Does not call you back , uses her personal e mail to receive your personal info and is rude and very hard to communicate with. The doctor may be a good doctor but I was operated on a hernia as he called it a small hernia ( it's still a surgery ) there is a normal 6 week recovery on a hernia operation and his receptionist wanted me to return to work in 6 days !!! I called and demanded at least 2 to 3 weeks recovery as I was promised during my initial visit , the receptionist would not let me talk to the doctor , she thinks she's the Doctor . I had to scream at her to let me talk to my doctor . I returned for a follow up to see Dr. Hartz (16 days ) after my surgery and told him I was still sore and sensitive in the operated area and asked him for one more week before returning to work .. he became upset and said that I am making him look bad and I've been trying to stretch this out that I needed to get back to work ??? Compleately unprofecional and rude . He repeated that he was trying to do the right thing ??? Whatever that means ! He demanded that I'd return to work 18 days after my operation . The scabs haven't even completely healed . Dual standard Doctor with a nice guy bad guy attitude, a antiquated practice and a rude receptionist . ( If my surgery rips open because I returned to work to soon we will be having a different conversation Dr. Hartz ) "Allow your paying patients to return to work with confidence not inderectcly accuse them of being scammers ". Included are pictures of my stomach 6 days after my surgery as his receptionist felt I should get back to work . Bruised and swollen . And Dr Hartz tells me to my face during a follow up 16 days after surgery , I am trying to make him look bad ! . I need to get back to work . I told him I don't feel fully healed that I'm not 100 % he did not care he said no no you need to get back to work you're making me look bad . Beware! This is what you will go through . I will not ever return to this doctor and his practice. Tony !
