Thank God they got me in within a few hours, to see Dr. Gina Rogers. When I arrived, reception was warm, & I was called back to a room quickly. Nora numbed my affected eye to gently measure my eye pressure, gave me a vision test, and then documented my detailed optical history, symptoms, and pharmacy to call in prescriptions. Dr. Rogers came in shortly after. She was warm & compassionate as she thoroughly looked in both eyes. She prescribed me 3 different things, to be thorough. By the next day, I was feeling much better. I am so grateful to the very warm team who got me in so quickly! I am so grateful to Dr. Rogers for letting me squeeze into her schedule when I was so miserable. Dr. Albin put a lot of time into working on a better option for my distance. Unfortunately, I could not get used to this new prescription as I felt disoriented the entire time. I asked if I could pick up a second sample a week later ... a sample of the original script he started with ... and they are perfect! When I went to pick up the second sample I didn't expect to meet with Dr. Albin again, but he met with me and once again spent a great deal of time testing them ... I am so happy - distance is much better than what I've dealt with for several years prior. The office staff is efficient, friendly ... and most importantly - on time. My only comment is that I don't remember contact appointments being so expensive - remember when it was one appointment for both glasses and contact lenses? I am probably dating myself! My insurance has good coverage for the eyeglass portion, but apparently not for the contact lens portion.

My reason for notorious search for the right doctor is very simple. Modern medicine practices are about money and continuous treatment instead of cure. Visits to doctors reminds me assembly line with 5 minutes time per part-patient. Yes sometimes there is no cure and continuous treatment is necessary and in such case you have to have a doctor who knows his field who will spend with you more than 5 minutes and take everything you have to say about your condition into consideration to make proper diagnosis and prescribe effective treatment. .After several visits to Dr Ahuja I concluded that he is the doctor whom I should visit 22 years ago and I am positive that half of my eye problems would likely never happen because I concluded as well that half of my problems were created by..........eye doctors. Dr Ahuja dedicates to you as much time as needed if it's 15 minutes or an hour. He has ability and patience to explain your problems advise and prescribe proper treatment if needed, He will answer all your question in language that you will understand. I opted for standard lenses. With these standard lens I did not need laser surgery to adjust the quality of my vision. I had some luck that I achieved this quality of restored vision. I add that Dr. Scott Kirk provided Radial Keratotomy in the summer of 1996. Although this is an dated surgery, anyone with a past RK should consider cataract surgery at the Kirk Eye Center because they provide light adjustable lenses for patients who seek greater likely outcome for seeing 2020 and that LASIK is not recommended for patients with past RK experience. Also, since I have had decades of eye care at K.E.C. River Forest, IL, I am certain that I'll continue to have great health care at their facility, here, I am met with a well organized staff capable of delivering care. I would like to add that they have added to ther staff young talented ophthalmologist and I hope they consider advancing to eye surgery.

TLDR: Hiral Patel gave me the best prescription I've had in almost two decades and Viviana Cano eased my anxiety over switching back to contact lenses after almost three decades of wearing only glasses. Now, all the extra details. Last year, my vision was so bad that I applied for blind disability. My mom and dad insisted that I come home and go to Kirk for a definitive evaluation. Five hours into the appointment, my future was bleak. The final recommendation, a week later, was surgery. My parents were totally ready and willing to pay for it, but I hate spending their money and put it off put if off put it off. I'm going to skip the specifics on the stuff about the bad diabetic protocol prescribed by my primary and how I ginned up the courage to change my own insulin dosage and how that probably saved my life and jump right to the day when a friend told me that her eyes didn't track together and she didn't see in stereo but wearing hard lenses gave her real vision for several hours a day. She's extremely deserving of both. I came in two days after my miracle exam, not sure if I had successfully removed the acuvue daily lens from my right eye. She took a peek and confirmed that it was out, and placed an order for some more trial lenses so that I could make sure it was the right fit for me. I came in again today with both lenses still in and significant anxiety over that fact. I am pleased to share a personal victory with a medical issue I've suffered with for over 25 years…read more Prayer really works, because after seeing many different eye surgeons and other related specialists in multiple states, no one was able to provide a solution--until I went to see Dr. Anthony Volpe in Chicago. Upon the exam, he was confident he could solve my eye issue up to 90% correction through a strabismus procedure (where the eye muscles are reset/adjusted). A month later, I had the surgery, and the very next day after he removed the eye patch I could see! I was amazed. I have only had minimal post surgery issues, but the news here is that his abilities exceeded expectations as he achieved 100% correction. I no longer saw multiple images, just one, the way God designed. Staff: professional and friendly. Although the wait time was a bit longer than I'm used to, I was told it might be due to the fact he is the head of a board of surgeons.
