Dr. Albin put a lot of time into working on a better option for my distance. Unfortunately, I could not get used to this new prescription as I felt disoriented the entire time. I asked if I could pick up a second sample a week later ... a sample of the original script he started with ... and they are perfect! When I went to pick up the second sample I didn't expect to meet with Dr. Albin again, but he met with me and once again spent a great deal of time testing them ... I am so happy - distance is much better than what I've dealt with for several years prior. The office staff is efficient, friendly ... and most importantly - on time. My only comment is that I don't remember contact appointments being so expensive - remember when it was one appointment for both glasses and contact lenses? I am probably dating myself! My insurance has good coverage for the eyeglass portion, but apparently not for the contact lens portion.

Not sure if it was because of the color of my skin or my gender, but that's what it looked like. Extremely disappointing in that respect, I was hoping to make this my go-to eye place because of its proximity to work.

Nora numbed my affected eye to gently measure my eye pressure, gave me a vision test, and then documented my detailed optical history, symptoms, and pharmacy to call in prescriptions. Dr. Rogers came in shortly after. She was warm & compassionate as she thoroughly looked in both eyes. She prescribed me 3 different things, to be thorough. By the next day, I was feeling much better. I am so grateful to the very warm team who got me in so quickly! I am so grateful to Dr. Rogers for letting me squeeze into her schedule when I was so miserable. PandaPop was diagnosed by Rubenstein with Fuchs Dystrophy. Rubenstein said PandaPop needed EMERGENT surgery in the next week and PLUS while treating the Fuchs Dystrophy, he might as well do cataract surgery on my eye, because everyone eventually needs it. (even though I was in my forties and had no signs of cataract) I got four other opinions: Yale, Northwestern, UIC, and The Mayo Clinic. All four made the same diagnosis HOWEVER, ALL other doctors said to DO NOTHING. "NEVER let anyone touch your eyes unless it is getting difficult to see" they advised. When I told Mayo (in Minnesota ) what my Chicago doctor recommended, the Mayo doctor made my mouth drop wide open when he asked "Was that Jonathan Rubenstein at Rush that recommended this new surgery!!!?!!. (I never told Mayo the doctor or hospital I saw in Chicago)......The Mayo doctor said, "Rubenstein is known nationwide for doing unnecessary surgeries and doing latest surgeries because of his ego and wanting to speak at ophthalmology conferences" !!!!!! PandaPop never got the surgery Rubenstein recommended. This was 15 years ago! My eyes are fine..... and the "emergent surgery needed" by Rubenstein was a LIE !!!!!! [But since Rubenstein makes so much money for Rush (with his unnecessary surgeries), they promoted him to Chair of Opthalmology]

Was told it would be a few days and they may arrive by the end of the week. Didn't hear back the next week, didn't hear back the following week. After calling, I was told my order would be ready 03/07. Picked up my glasses and as soon as I got them home and cleaned, I realized there was a pinpoint dot in the coating on one lens. Came back to drop them off to be repaired on 03/09. Was told they'd be repaired in a few days. Called 03/16 and was told they'd call me back. Called 03/17 after not hearing from them and was told that "maybe they'd be ready by the end of the week". I did everything right. I went to a local business, I spent almost $500, I called every step of the way to remind them. I got FAR better service at a chain and it was free. Last time I ordered glasses I spent nothing out of pocket and they arrived in a week and a half. It's been almost a month, I paid $500, and I still don't have my glasses. The first thing the optometrist says to me, even before asking my name, looking at my file, or doing an exam is if I want to try daily contacts. This is not based on anything medical. He says they're much better and they only cost 30% more than monthly which I currently use. Well he can't do simple math because I found out later that they are actually 300% more- even with rebates and insurance. The lenses on the equipment are dirty and cloudy which makes the eye exam harder to do. They ask me if I want to try daily's. I said sure why not I'll try them. And they will not give me a prescription until I try them. Well it's nice but not enough for me to pay over $800 a year for contacts. I request a written prescription so I can buy my regular contacts online where it is half the price. They send over a prescription for a specific brand of daily contacts. I say no I want monthly. They say they can't give me a prescription for monthlies unless I try them. What?! They never told me this when giving me the sample. I didn't know I was committing to getting daily contacts when they handed me 5 days worth of lenses. They insist and say other optometrists don't care as much about their customers which is BULLSHIT. So I have to go in AGAIN and get the sample. After a few weeks, I request a prescription for monthlies. They send me the daily prescription again!! So I ask them again- please send me a monthly prescription. They do send one but it is again BRAND SPECIFIC to B&L. I didn't realize that until I tried to order myself new contacts online and it was denied. Because I tried to buy a different brand of monthly contacts that I prefer and know very well after using contacts for over 20 years. So how many calls and visits does it take to get the single prescription I need? With all of my previous optometrists- it was one simple email after my eye exam. None of them have tried to sell me super expensive, brand specific daily contacts. BEWARE OF THIS UNETHICAL AND INCOMPETENT PRACTICE.

My reason for notorious search for the right doctor is very simple. Modern medicine practices are about money and continuous treatment instead of cure. Yes sometimes there is no cure and continuous treatment is necessary and in such case you have to have a doctor who knows his field who will spend with you more than 5 minutes and take everything you have to say about your condition into consideration to make proper diagnosis and prescribe effective treatment. .After several visits to Dr Ahuja I concluded that he is the doctor whom I should visit 22 years ago and I am positive that half of my eye problems would likely never happen because I concluded as well that half of my problems were created by..........eye doctors. Dr Ahuja dedicates to you as much time as needed if it's 15 minutes or an hour.
