Been wanting to try this spot located in the Blossom Hall Market, and they had a nice line going when we were there. It's premium pastries/pies, as each was nearly $10, but I can see why. They're unique and delicious. We got the chocolate sticky rice with anchovy and ube banoffee pie. It was so interesting to have something with anchovy, but it worked and was delicious. The pies were sweet but not overly so, which I liked. The slices were pretty big, so it was nice to share with others and try multiple things. Definitely a must try at least once because these are tasty.
Came here around 5 pm on a Saturday and they still had a good amount of pastries left! I ordered the mango sticky rice donut and the blue corn chocolate chip cookie. These were so unique and absolutely delicious! The mango sticky rice donut wasn't too sweet and the mangos and ingredients tasted fresh! The donut itself wasn't too oily/heavily fried either. The blue corn chocolate chip cookie was very interesting and not too sweet either! The blue corn flavor wasn't bitter and blended well with the dark chocolate chips. Would highly recommend! Service was good! The cashier there was kind and helpful. There is plenty of seating since it's located inside the blossom market food hall! There is also plenty of parking in the back of the food hall. Will definitely come back!
We tried a few things and would definitely make repeat visits to this stall. My favorite was the Biko pie. I told my souse that we should get the whole pie next time. One slice is not enough! It's essentially Biko in pie format with a lovely topping and delicious graham-pecan base. Oohhh! In craving a bite as I type this review! This stall is located in Blossom Food Hall. Enjoy!
We stopped by Baking with Ish on a Saturday morning to pick up a few pastries to enjoy at home, and I'm so glad we did. We tried the Ube & Black Sesame Roll, Banana Blue Corn Blueberry Pistachio Bread, Pistachio Cardamom Roll, and the Spam Tocino Cheese Scone. The Ube & Black Sesame Roll was easily my favorite. It had the perfect balance of flavors, wasn't overly sweet, and was something I'd absolutely come back for. My second favorite was the Spam Tocino Cheese Scone, which was savory, flavorful, and full of childhood flavors. The Banana Blue Corn Blueberry Pistachio Bread was my least favorite, mostly because the texture wasn't for me, but the flavor combinations were still interesting and unique. The pastries are definitely on the pricier side, but the quality and creativity make them worth trying. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. It's located inside Blossom Market, so parking is easy, which is always a nice bonus. I'll definitely be back for another Ube & Black Sesame Roll.
Run to this place! They now have chicken and waffles and ube pancakes! I am so happy they expanded their space and now we get to have some chicken and waffle goodness! The chicken is flavorful with the amazing crispy batter. The chicken stays moist! Really a treat and you have to try. Small Filipino bakery inside of the Blossom Market Hall. If you haven't been here, Blossom is like a small food court. Lots of public parking outside, so you won't have problems finding a spot. This place has a lot of hype thanks to social media and the internet, and I can see why. They have a lot of innovative, Filipino-inspired pastries that you'll have trouble finding anywhere else. So if you're looking for something a bit different, come check it out. The hall has plenty of seating, so I opted to eat my meal here. The place is really clean and communal; you'll enjoy it. Ordered the following: - Chicken and waffles - 6/10: Two thighs on top of a fat Belgian waffle served with a side of honey and cinnamon butter. Waffle was fluffy, grainy, and baked just right. That was the best part of the dish. The chicken, though, was a bit disappointing. Way too salty, overseasoned, and slightly overcooked. Looked a lot better than it tasted. - Ube Black Sesame Roll - 5.5/10: Looks like a cinnamon roll, but it's smothered in an ube paste and sprinkled with black sesame. A little too sweet for me and the ube was just a bit too much. Maybe dial down the ube just a tad bit. Sesame didn't do much for it, unfortunately. All this with a canned soda came out to 33 bucks. Expensive for sure. At any rate, if I'm in the area, the offerings are varied enough to merit another pass here. Come check it out for yourself as a decent time was had by all.

The ube cookie was absolutely divine, moist, chewy & not too sweet, so darn scrumptious. And it's a mouthful, what intrigued me, the Tamarind Kalamansi black Sesame roll was no slouch, Jeff warmed it up & it took it to 'nother level. Love this spot. Friendly, welcoming & the goods speak for themselves. Great place to grub & meet, just chill. Located inside Blossom Market in Sam Gabriel, a communal dining hall offering, multicultural foods from different vendors. Outdoor & indoor dining available, free parking. Great for solo ding or groups, fun & cool vibes. Music playing overhead. The second floor is great for quiet times & art displays.
Been wanting to try this spot for a while and it did not disappoint! The gentleman at the front was mixing dough and was so kind! He was super patient with our "we're ready to order...no wait give us a second" confusion. The display is simple, but don't be fooled by its simplicity. The flavors are complex! The ube cookie begins with ube, middles with a pillowy sugar cookie, and ends with a touch of salt. The mochi loaf was probably my favorite. It's a warm chewy yet light batter. Every bite is a treat all on its own. The ube roll was a genius Filipino take on a regular cinnamon roll, honestly it's better than any roll I've ever tasted. The innards tasted like Dulce de leche, with teensy bits of pistachio. The ube glaze was gentle, not too sweet or overpowering in portion. Just enough ube drizzle for every bite. This bakery is located in a mess hall type situation with a dozen other spots, so it's perfect for hanging out with friends and trying new foods. There's of parking in the lot as well as lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The flavor combos at Ish's are unique, and everything is baked to perfection. I will be back soon! I need to try some pie!
Really good selection of baked goods and pies. We ordered the dulce banana cream pie, dulce bibingka pie, spam tocino cheese scone, espresso cinnamon roll, and pumpkin spice scone. Everything was amazing. The service like usual was also great, they were very kind and helpful. Overall, a really good experience.
Located in Blossom Market Hall, there's a filipino corner with Baking with Ish and Almuchow. Lots of free parking in lot. Say this on yelp and wanted to try some of the pies but on arrival I was immediately smitten with fresh baked pastries. The stall is pretty small and cramped. But all 3 were busy prepping the day's pastries when I arrived at 8:45a on a Saturday. The spam longaniza cheese scone was delicious and not dry like some scones I've had. The chicken empanada and ham & cheese croissant were good but nothing extra special. The ube black seasame roll was also good but neither flavor stood out? The mango coconut donut (sorry pic was blurred) had custard, ripe fresh mango slices, and coconut. it was very good. Guy at the counter was very helpful. I asked him about pies and he said they did have the Ube banofre pie available if I wanted a slice. he did say it was better to come around 10 AM and everything would be out and on display. I'll probably come back to try the pie and maybe something on the menu.
Baking with Ish is located inside Blossom Market, just next to Lotus & Bean. They open on Thursday until Sunday.The shop looks very clean. Their menu includes: pie either slice or thr whole pie, spam cheese pandesal, scones, muffins,and cookies. I ordered the following: - Egg Cheese Brioche $9 It was buttery, savory and had soft texture. - Blue Corn Banana Teacake $7 It had moist texture with a unique flavor and perfect sweetness. - Cinnamon Popy seed Roll $8 It wad a nice flavor of cinnamon balanced with the richness of poppy seeds. Baking with Ish knocked me out! (I'm literally so full and sleepy) I got the Pistachio Kalamansi, Spam Egg and Cheese Pandesal, and an Ube Cookie around 12 PM on a Friday, which totaled to about $28. The cashier and owner were friendly and seemed a little nervous, but I think they can be successful here. The Pandesal was an extremely rich sandwich with a cheesy, garlicky egg and two spams. It was delicious but so heavy and so rich. I wouldn't recommend this if you have a busy day ahead because this was so much to consume. The Kalamansi, on the other hand, was perfect. The pastry was heated up, so when I opened the box up in my car, the warm, nutty scent wafted out and filled the space. My husband and I love this pastry and will definitely be getting it for others as well.
Can't believe I almost passed up on these! I saw a constant line here, so I knew I had to get something. The mango ice box pie is the best! It's refreshing, and the ice cream makes for a fun dessert. The ube banoffee pie was also really good along with the ube black sesame roll. Service is really fantastic here too! But that mango ice box pie is probably one of the best desserts I've ever had!
Reviews are largely positive. People praise the creative Filipino-inspired pastries, fresh and visually appealing baked goods, and friendly and welcoming service. The rotating menu and variety are also appreciated.

I tried their Ube Mochi cookie and it was really good! Very chewy and I tasted the ube flavor. A little on the pricey side, this cookie was $4 but it was definitely worth the try. They had other pastries too, like an Ube cheese pie cake which seemed interesting. Definitely need to give their other pastries a try the next time I visit the Blossom Food Hall. read more

I have been a big fan of Baking With Ish since they opened in Blossom Market Hall. It's always such a treat to grab something delicious, uniquely flavored, and beautifully decorated from the pastry case, all the while knowing you're supporting a Filipino-owned small business! Well, I am an even BIGGER fan of Ish and his works of art after I recently placed a catering order for a party. I ordered an ube cheese pie, key lime pie, and a few dozen cookies (ube, sprinkles, pinipig chocolate chip, blue corn chocolate). Everything was so delicious -- you could tell the ingredients were of high quality, presentation was awesome, and communicating with Ish back and forth to finalize and then pick up the order was easy. My guests were so impressed and some even said the cookies were some of the best they'd EVER had -- and they're a tough crowd to please! I will definitely order from Ish again for future events, and in the meantime will continue to patronize his bakery at Blossom Market Hall. We're so lucky to have such a great bakery in our neighborhood! read more

I found Ish's social media months ago but never had time to stop by. I finally got the chance and he did not disappoint! His baking is so good we came back the day to try more items. I love the experimental aspect in his goods. The fish sauce in the apple pie was on point and the shrimp in the chocolate chip brown sugar cookie was so unique. He's the sweetest business owner; extremely personable and accommodating. If I lived closer I would be in trouble, but the trip from DTLA saves me a lot of calories. Baking with Ish makes the most delicious desserts! I've preordered a whole peach mango pie and have gotten his ube cheese pie and ube pumpkin pie. You can really taste the freshness and the great quality ingredients he uses in his desserts. Besides great tasting treats, Ishnoelle is such a nice and sweet individual. He's located inside the Blossom Market in Alhambra and right at the front entrance. I don't understand the reviews made on how much his desserts cost. His prices are clearly displayed, and no one forced you to purchase it. Yes, prices are on the higher end, but you get what you pay for. If you felt like you paid a lot for the desserts and it tasted like crap, then ok and leave your review, but don't give a low rating due to price and then say it tasted great. read more

Probably one of the best Filipino bakers in SoCal. Their menu has different items every week and with most flavors coming from the Philippines. I can't visit without coming out with at least 3 cookies and come kind of pie/cake. I ordered their Uber Coconut pie for Thanksgiving and best know I will never have anyone else's pie for the holidays now. Like Marie Callender's who? My mom and aunt both enjoyed the pie as well and described it as "not too sweet" which is the highest compliment I can get whenever I bring in desserts. Ish has great service and takes time describing their work. I'd follow them on IG just to confirm store hours and see what treats they have for the day. read more

One of the newest stalls at Blossom Market Hall and I couldn't be more excited! Ish has some of the best desserts I've tasted. I got the brownie and some ube & black sesame cookies today and they were excellent. Perfect textures, the right amount of sweetness, and vibrant flavors. Don't go when it's opening time, he's not ready and will ignore you bc he's hyper focused on getting things finished. Don't go when it's 3 hours to closing bc he will only have a few cookies or items left. Try your luck in the middle of the day. Maybe he won't ignore you and the products will be ready. read more

Scratch-made Baking with Finesse. Oh how I appreciate small businesses that put their heart into what they do! Not only are the sweets scrumptious but the creativity & uniqueness of their offerings really stand out. UNIQUE FLAVORS/CREATIVITY: It's so much fun to see Ish's Creative twist & his ability to fuse familiar treats such as donuts, cookies, muffins, pies & cakes with S.E.Asian-inspired flavors such as ube, macapuno, calamansi, pandan, etc . He also offers the basics such as savory & sweet scones-- but don't be unimpressed...his ingredients are top notch as his blueberry scone, for example, is like an explosion of buttery, blueberry cakey-crumble goodness! MENU/SERVICE: Menu changes weekly so if you have your heart set on an item don't be disappointed, just order something new & interesting...you just may like it! I'm in UBE heaven They have the freshest most amazing pastries ever. We had to try just about everything. We recommend the Pumpkin UBE PIE it was our favorite. The good looking guy not only bakes, and serves your happiness but he has the most amazing smile and he oozes in pure goodness just like the UBE Flavor in his soft cookies.
